Anyone had glucose in urine??

I had GD with my previous pregnancy. I've been tested already with this one (2hr GTT) and so far am clear. I have been doing monitoring at home for two weeks, also clear. BSL's are between 4-6.

But everytime I go to the OB I am showing glucose in my urine (3+).
Has anyone else had this? It's got me a bit worried. If I don't have GD yet then why am I spilling glucose into my urine already?

I had glucose once when i went to the obst... but it was because i had a glass of softdrink about 2 hours earlier..... do you eat or drink anything that could have that efect before you go to the obst?

mrsbutterflygirl - my OB appointments are always at 8am which is about 1.5hours after I've eaten breakfast. I just have a coffee and toast.
I'm wondering if it might be from this, I don't know :(

I always had at least 1+ in my samples, usually 3. I had a few blood tests and they were all fine. I hope yours works out ok too, try not to worry.

given everything you said I'm not sure why you would be spilling it still but I had glucose showing in mine from abut 22 weeks and was told i was 'high risk' for having GD.... at 28 weeks I had my GD test and found out that I do indeed have GD so it was right for me.

Are they going to test you again for GD? Sometimes they can test to early and it be okay but then you develop it later on. So if they arent planning on testing you again perhaps you could request to be retested.

My obstetrician told me that the kidneys 'leak' glucose in pregnancy, so a urine test with glucose in it doesn't mean diabetes, like it would if you weren't pregnant. He said that urine glucose tests weren't useful at all in pregnancy.

charmzy - I only did my GD test two weeks ago (at 20 weeks) and urine has been showing up for my last two OB visits (about a month). Also I've been doing home monitoring during that time and my blood glucose is still fine. SO wierd! :confused:
I'll do another GTT at about 26 weeks - I'm fully expecting to have GD by then even though I don't have it yet :(

But reading what Sue is saying about it not being abnormal in pregnancy ...I have found some evidence for this online as well. That being the case I wonder why they even bother doing the strip tests....I'm going to quiz my OB about it.
