I need help!!
I've been out of the work force for nearly 2 years and want to return on a casual/part-time basis, my question is does anyone know how to go about writing a professional resume and cover letter?
I'm applying for nursing jobs and feel that it is important to have a professional resume but having trouble as I don't have a lot of experience.
I have applyed for a few jobs over the last month and not getting any responses, I think my resume is letting me down.
Do you think it is worth my while getting one done for me?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

There are lots of sites online, or books, with suggestions on resumes and cover letters. Your local library will have some books I'm sure. So chekc these out before paying someone to do it for you.

If you're applying for a specific job then you should look closely at the requirements listed in the ad and try to address at least some of them directly in your cover letter. But at the same time, your cover letter needs to be short, less than 1 page, and it can be hard to do. A friend of mine who works in recruitment says he never even looks at the cover letters.

So what I tend to do now is have a section in my resume where I highlight my qualifications for the job I'm applying for. I put it after my personal and education details, but before my formal list of experience, and tend to use a short bulleted list to keep it brief and to the point. I edit & change the content of this section for each job application and also draw on my qualifications which may be outside my formal employment but which relate to the requirements listed in the job ad. For example, many people may have demonstrated organisation, planning or people skills through working with volunteer or social groups, but not iinclude this under their "professional" experience.

Thanks MM, I'm searching the net now....just wish I was better at promoting myself and making it sound professional and co-herent (sp?)
I think it may take me some time.
