the main thing that can tell you is a temperature rise but then you would need to be taking your temperature every morning to check that....the other way is by your cervical mucus...when you ovulate it becomes like egg white, slippery and stretchy as compared to when you are not ovulating when it can be dry, white, creamy depending on time of your cycle

There are a few ways you can tell when your ovulating or not ovulating, as I have needed help falling from medications I've done all the ovulation tests.

1. Your temperature will raise between .07 and 3.0 degrees on the days you are ovulating 3 degrees is the strongest day of ovulation. Every morning take your temperature and write it down you will see the difference.

2. This is a bit gross but here goes your discharge will thicken, the doctors say to insert your fingers into the opening of the vagina and once removed pull the fingers slowly apart the thicker your mucous the higher the ovulation level.

3. You can buy a testing kit from the supermarket or chemist. They are about 60.00 but they work. You oee like a pregnancy test and it comes like a pregnancy test if the test line appears and a lighter or no control line appears you are not ovulating if a darker test line appears than the control line you are ovulating.

Out of all 3 which I have tried I found the temp method the best good luck I hope that helpeda little :p

There are also products that can help you pinpoint when you are ovulating - ovulation prediction kits (OPKs) are available from supermarkets and are a pee-on-a-stick thing, that tells you when you are about to ovulate (can be better at giving you advance warning compared with charting temps). There is also a product called Maybe Baby (available from pharmacies) where you use saliva to test when the best time to fall pregnant is.

How do I monitor my cycle?
I chart my cycle from CD1 (Cycle Day) right through to the last day when AF (period) arrives. I make note of what kind of cramps or period pains I have had and what kind of CM (Cervical Mucus) I had too.

What methods have you used?
1. I have used OPK's (Ovulation Predictor Kits) You can buy them from your supermarket and they are just like home pregnancy kits. They test your LH levels in your urine. LH usually dramatically increases in the days leading up to when you are due to ovulate, so can help to pinpoint ovulation.
2. I have also been checking CM. When your mucus is sticky and stringy like egg white, you are usually in your most fertile period
3. A product called Maybe Baby where you use saliva on a microscope. If the image has 'ferns' on it then you are fertile, if not, you are not fertile.

How accurate were they?
I found OPK's to be THE MOST accurate for myself. Though other people use other methods and have had success with them, OPK's are the easiest method for me.

How much did they cost?
1. OPK's cost $20 for a pack of 7 from Franklins.
2. Doesn't cost anything to check CM
3. Maybe Baby costs about $70 brand new, or you can get generic brands for roughly $40 from Ebay

How hard or time consuming were they?
1. OPK's are easy - just pee on a stick.
2. CM is kind of gross and messy.
3. Maybe Baby doesn't work for me - so has been very time consuming.

Which one would you use next time?
OPK's for sure!

Well ovulation usually starts about 2 weeks into your cycle, so about a week after your period starts. The way I always knew was because I would get a clag-glue like (sorry TMI) discharge from my vagina whenever I was ovulating and it always worked out to be a week after my period began. Try http://mycycle.com for extra help, it's a great website!
