Hi all, i need a bit of advice please. DS had a circumsion and cystoscopy to remove skin flaps in his uretha 6 weeks ago. 2 weeks after he had a check up and it all seemed perfect. 2 days ago he started sooking that it hurt to wee. This morning there was blood on the tip of his penis so i called the surgeon(who is not based in town)and she wanted him to go to the GP, GP doesnt want to do anything without getting a sample first, but the kid is in that much pain when he pee's I cant get a sample, he is throwing himself around screaming. Bout 7:30 we changed his nappy and it wasnt wet, hadnt been wet since midday. but the tip looked pussy, at 9:30 it looked even worse. What should I do? is it worth taking him to hospital, or am I over reacting??

How awful for you all, I would go to emergency if you are seeing pus after surgery. Hopefully antibiotics and pain meds will get him on the mend very quickly.

Someone else may know more, good luck!

I would be taking him to hospital for pain relief! and the anitibotics!

Maybe call health direct, they are really good!

I would get straight to the hospital - wouldn't even worry bout calling anyone first. Not exactly a part of his body you want to take chances with

yeah I would get onto it straight away, get him seen, sounds like he's got a good ole infection going on there, best to get him on anti b's as soon as pos

It's prolly not going to help you now, but a good way to get a wee sample is to ask your GP for one of the adhesive bags they use for babies' samples. You stick it on over the penis and take it off again once you've caught a wee in there. No mess, no fuss, and no trying to aim/catch with a cup.
