View Full Version : Big spews
My DD woke up on Monday morning (her 1st birthday:D ) and had a big spew all over me..not just milk but the previous nights dinner..so i kept an eye on her all day and she was fine monday and tuesday but at 3am this morning i woke up to her having another big spew in her cot:crying: ...dinner and all..She seems fine otherwise so im not sure what could be causing it.
Initially thought maybe the party food she ate on sunday at her bday party but then that doesnt explain this mornings spew...
Any suggestions would be great but maybe i should take her to the docs..
kids can be sick after party food binges but id watch her temp, and persona. if she seems vague (or hot) its more than the food. also if diareaha starts
Thanks suemp i will take her temp when she wakes up..we are booked in to have her immunised thi arvo so will see what the doc says then.
well just saw the gp and he said she may have a bug..she is going onto lactose free formula..
One question tho i dont know if the formula i got is ok for her. She just turned one and this one says from birth...but they didnt have any follow on. i just grabbed it because she is due for a feed. Of course i will find a tin of follow on for next time but will it hurt to use it this time?
The formula you got should be fine, especially if there was no follow on one there.
What I don't understand is why some drs change sick bubs to lactose free formulas/soy milk (depending on age)...when DD had a nasty virus at 4mths old (12 days of it) I was told not to give her milk of any kind and just to give her pedialyte to keep her hydrated...I ended up giving her formula at night so she would sleep properly once the vomiting stopped on the 2nd night, but she still had diorrea for another 10 days, so I slowly started giving her more formula, just small amounts at a time.
If I had a sick 12mth old, I'd be giving her something like pedialyte and really basic foods like apple, plain biscuits, that sort of stuff. Then once she is better start giving her the normal formula again.
Anyway...I hope your daughter gets better faster than mine did, and no one else gets sick either :hugs:
Thankx cwsmum! We got some pedialyte but i havent given her any yet(she is snoozing!)..DR said to mix it wth some apple juice..DD has never had juice before so im not too sure about that...I will finish this tin of formula and then get regular formula for her. I know with myself i became lactose intolerant BECAUSE of avoiding milk...

Thats also a strange thing to be told...on the box of pedialyte I have, I just checked it to be sure, it says NOT to mix it with anything other than water...it's orange flavor anyway. DS had gastrolyte once when he was little, it was blackcurrant flavor and didn't taste too bad.
my mates newborn was recently told she was lactose intolent and therefore could not breast feed BUT was not told that until a few tests were done first. i would not fully believe the doc until he investigated it further.
