My dd is not ready to have to dummy taken away yet, but i heard this idea for when they are so i thought i would share it and feel free to put any other ideas on here.

You tell your lil one that all the poor children don't have any binky's or watever you call them and tell them you have to collect them all and put them in a basket / box and put it in a tree for the Binky fairy to collect and then she will leave them a present, and they collect and presend from the empty basket in the morning, i know they would have to be of age to understand this, so maybe not a good idea if you want to take he dummy away when they are younger.

I thought that was a cute idea kinda like the tooth fairy, better than what i my grandad did to my mum, when she was five he got all her dummies took her and them to the rubbish dump so she could watch him throw them out lol that wouldn't been too fun she cried for 2 days straight she said.

My dd1 did this. We left out the dummy for the "dummy fairy" under the lemon tree. Low and behold a box was there when we looked just before bedtime it had a lovely fairy dress and wand.

I was amazed she went to bed without her dummy no problem at all and she was a real dummy addict.

This was when she was three. I think the trick was that it was her decision to leave it out for the fairy. We probably spent six months working up to it and one day she said that she wanted to give her dummy away that day. Luckily I was all prepared with the fairy present:thumbsup:
