View Full Version : Teats???
My son is now 6 weeks old and he is still on Pigeon Newborn teats. Why and when do you change teats? A little confused!!

Usually, the label should suggest an age-range for the flow-size.
If you don't want to bother stuffing around with that, you can always get a cross-cut or "Y' shaped teat...which is pretty much NON SPILL and will give as much or as little formula as your baby wants (depending on how hard he/she sucks!).
I've done that with DD...and she still uses them today (obviously I've bought new ones, but they're the all the same size so it's not complicated).
I use Pidgeon teats too...both the normal-sized ones and the wide-necked Peristaltic ones. For pidgeon, they are labelled "S" (the newborn ones I imagine) and "Y".
The newborn ones let less through at a time. Bubs will tell you loud and clear when ready to move on. DS started to fuss and bash at the bottle when he wasn't getting it out fast enough so I knew it was time to change to the next size.
