I had a run of colds last year with my lot, and even though they were just colds, my kids hardly went to daycare, and I felt as though I was paying the bill for nothing, as they seemed always to be home sick.

And when colds constantly keep going around, it is draining. :(

So, this winter, I have decided to do everything I can to keep us all really healthy,

I have started everyone on vitamin c, and hypol everyday, and am getting all to drink a glass of v8 juice, and eat lots of fruit and veg and drink pleanty of water, also we are not going out into the public if we dont have to, what I mean by that is, we wont be going to the ekka this year.

Someone told me I was crazy, but, with how busy and full on things are for me at the moment, I dont want to take achance.

Is there anyone else like this?

Do you give your family vitamin? anything, and do you find it works?
Do you think im wasting my time and moiney?:confused:

I brought Kids chewable Vit C, Euchinua (sp?) and Zinc tabs, garlic tabs (for myself), V8 juice (for both of us) and multivitamins today.. :laughing: dd is under the weather with a cold so I want to kick it in the butt before it turns into something worse needing antibiotics, because believe me all those things are much more healthier and better for them :yes: not overreacting at all.

eta. for the multivitamin, dd is just on pentavite, and I'm on my usual prenatal vitamin. Forgot to list it there, I have also started giving dd one of those chewable fish oil tablets to help with her moods etc.

Thanks, I remember getting them pushed down my throat as a kid, and I hated it, but then again, I dont remember getting sick much.:p

Its not as though I dont expect to get colds at all, I just dont want bad ones, as you say.

I'm not one for vitamins and synthetic stuff like that because most of it gets piddled into the loo and most contain a whole lot of stuff you don't actually need in addition to a healthy diet. There has been some research that suggests Vit C in tablet form is a waste of money and doesn't prevent illness or make you recover quicker. At the end of the day it's your choice and if you want it and can afford it then go for it.

The main way to keep from catching bugs is to wash your hands often and never touch your face with your hands (this is a really hard habit to break). Eating a good quality diet having plenty of water and fresh produce and avoiding the processed sugars and fatty foods will also help you to stay well.

And yeah... I'd avoid the EKKA like the plague too,and not just for the bugs! :D
