Photo Challenge #1 "Black and White" Entries

[Eco Goddess]

After a few suggestions and discussions about photography... the photo challenge begins!

RULES
* Photo must be taken by YOU to be eligible... do not use photographs from other sites
* Post a link to your photo in photobucket, bubhub album, flickr etc in the Entries thread (you do not need to change your Avatar...save that for the AV comp!)
* Entries Close 5pm 14 days after the challenge begins (this gives you time to get out and about and get snapping!)
* Voting will be open for 7 days
* The winner of each challenge will choose the theme/provocation for the next challenge
* Please be mindful of linking photos to facebook pages etc to ensure your privacy!
* Photographs need to be in their "raw state" - no photoshopping or editing!

Ok...lets kick off with entries for #1...the theme is Black and White Photography (nice and broad for starters!)

Cant wait to see lots of great original photography:D

I loved the photo comp :yelclap: was rather disappointed it ended. Pity my camera is a piece of crap that can't take decent pics.. oh well I shall try anyway.

BTW - The entries that are coming up with the photo in the post make it so much easier to browse! If you can post like this (use the little mountain icon) it would be great...just make sure your image isnt too big - we dont want to take up too much space!

Just a quick question, in the old comp you weren't allowed to edit the photo with programs like photoshop. Is that allowed for this comp?

I was going to suggest perhaps only minor editing...but I think that will be hard to guage, so maybe we should not use photoshop:)

i dont get out much, so i have wanted to partake so many times, but old computer was a pain in the rear..

i initially got excited when i saw this was for black & white photo.. because ive had one fluke photo of bub that i have just loved for a while now..

but
on going to put it in, then i noticed different ones to put in that are great for different reasons,
and now
i have changed to one that is really not great quality at all,
and is more the story/connotation behind it.

all my photos are taken with just our mobile phones..

Is it OK to use software just to correct the brightness, contrast and colour? Mine was originally a colour photo, cause of course I have no idea how to take B&W with a digicam LOL

The previous comp was moderator run. I think it ceased because some people were unable to abide by the rules. It was to be your own photo, no editing other than resizing, to keep it fair and yes, it had to be taken in the competition week to make use of people's creativity. Also the pics were sent to a mod who then posted them just after the closing date. That way there was no issue with the number received. It was first 15 entered got to be voted on.

I can't see it either... when I click on it, it says gif image 1x1 pixels.... 1x1 pixels would be invisible so make it bigger maybe? 200 pixels? But that is weird that you can see it :confused:

There were lots of great entries for our first round!! After much thought about the voting for this comp, I figure it might be best if we just vote in this thread (might make it easier as you can see all the pics in one place)

Simply post a reply with the name of the hubber whose photo you love the most (although they are all fab!) I dont think its essential to keep voting private, as this is all in good fun!

Voting closes next Monday 29th @ 5pm EST!

I will then tally up the votes (you can only vote once and not for yourself;)) and announce the winner... the winner can then PM me their choice for the next provocation and I will start a new thread!
