DS has been on Neocate for almost a week & over the last few days he will not drink it
he is starving & constantly crying/screaming as he is so hungry but it takes me about a hour to get only 20 mls down :(
its like he is scared of it
my whole day is spent settleing him & trying to get him to feed as he is so hungry...
im very concerned as he is so small he cant afford to loose weight..
anyone??

Hang in there hun :hugs:
I know its hard & this is quite common !
You could see whether you could add some vanilla essence or the likes to flavour it for him to make it more palatable for him to take but do check with your Paed first as it isnt always a good idea depending on the gut issues they have.
Most also tend to like it very very warm almost hot ... Not sure why but its a common thing it seems & G was like this too ... Its only recently that he takes it at room temp.

Yeeeeah Neocate does tend to make things green for awhile but they really should get better after their gut starts to heal ...
ds 2 is on elecare, only been on it for 1.5 weeks.
his poos are runny, green and smelly. burps smell 2.
My ped told me to slowley introduce the elecare, i had to give half old formula and half elecare and slowly put more elecare less old formula over the course of a week. i did this for a little less than a week and ds took it no worries.
i have noticed that he drinks less of elecare than his old milk but still drinking.:)
goodluck.

Yep definitely add 1/4 of a tsp per 250 ml bottle of Golden Syrup. You'll find after a week or two you won't need to bother doing it anymore.
Yeah the poos are always greenish with Neocate.
All the best :hugs:

we saw a very lovely paed today.
she is certain its alot more than just reflux...
she sent us off to get blood tests, my poor little man screamed the house down :hissy:
she thinks that its most likely intollerances of some sort after checking over him very thoroughly & she could see how he was acting while we were there plus she said his eczema is quite bad.
his blood will be tested for milk protein, dairy, wheat, soy, egg aswell as a full check on something else, cant remember exactly what she said haha.
She does want him to def stay on the Neocate so wrote me out a 5 x repeat for it (previous dr only gave me a script for 1)
she thinks the zantac hasnt helped him at all so will see what happens with that, it might need to be changed. even suggesting i can give him adult Mylanta as it tastes better than zantac??
she also said that because he is so little she sugessted possibly starting him on solids sooner than 6 months as he doesnt drink enough hmmmm... i really wanted to wait till he was 6 months, but il see how he goes & if he improves or not...
so now i guess we just gotta wait & see what the blood tests show... she said there is a chnace of getting wrong reading though (false negatives etc)
blahhh :ecomcity:
