Ds has a cold therefore his asthma has flared. He is needing his puffer around every three hours and I am a bit concerned that he is having it too much. He is 2 and a half. Obviously its too late right now to see my doctor. Just wondering if anyone can give me any pointers...?

How many puffs are you giving him? I knwo that they can have 6 puffs four hourly if needed. I don't think you can really overdose on ventolin but it is not pleasent for them if they ahve too much of it as it makes them kind of revved up and wirey. if the puffer is being needed frequently and it's still not enough to control it i'd see your doctor soonish though.

Hope he feels better soon!:goodvibes:

As someone who suffers from asthma I would be tempted to take him to A&E. Or alternatively do you have a health no you can call?

In fact thinking about it I would just go to A&E I wouldnt muck around with a toddler and breathing issues

He has 6 puffs and three breaths. I have given him a does of predimix so hopefully that will calm it soon. Gosh I hate it when he has flare ups. I get so worried that I am doing the wrong thing.

Asthma sucks:thumbsdown: Hope you both get a good night:hugs:

The predmix should help but is not instant- I agree with manxie if you are really worried I would take him to A & E especially at night when you can't watch him while he's sleeping. Your call though you know him best!:hugs:

Thats ok Manxie.:) I have been debating the last half an hour whether or not I should take him and then DH suggested giving him the predimix. I didnt even think of it. Thank god for dh and his straight thinking.

Its hard when your worried. If he's no better though after the predmix as had time to kick in I'd take him. At least you know you would be seen straight away.

:hugs:

Yes Im thinking if he needs to have his puffer again before 12:30 (which is when he is due to have it) I will take him in. Oh god I hope he doesnt need to have it again before then.
