I recieved a letter in the post today, it was a brochure and a "guide to immunisation"... i have every intention of immunising my child, though i am a little worried about the side effects of some of the vaccinations. They were all outlined in the brochure. I was wondering if any of your bubs had any side effects?
not me and ive just done the 18mth vaccinations...hvent had any problems with any of them

I too havnt had any probs with any of them and DD has just had the 18mth ones. Although this time she was a little off colour / not herself for a bit, but not sick or anything major, just whats to be expected I guess, but for all the rest, you wouldnt of even known she had them.

My DD has only ever got mild side affects from immunisations.
Slight temperature, irratable, sometimes off food for a day, and she usually gets a small lump on the injection site which goes away after a few days. :crying:
Yucky...we have to get her 18 month ones done in a few weeks.

No probs here either
My son has just had his 12 month vaccinations. He did react to the mmr ( measles mumps rubella). He had a temperature and a rash, but i was told at the hospital that this was quite common, and i think that it is far better than what they would go through if they actually caught one of the diseases.

My Dr advised me that she has been vaccinating children for over 13 years and has never once had a severe reaction reported to her. (All severe reactions must be reported to the Dept of Health also - not sure whether or not you can find out stats from them, but it might be worth a try).
She said that even minor reactions such as rash or flu-like symptoms are relatively rare. The most common symptoms reported to her were pain at the injection site (which I would expect to be the case with a lot of them!), low-grade fever and babies temporarily refusing feeds, or being fussy feeders for up to 12 hours afterwards.
Claire had a low fever after her 2 month injections, nothing at all after her 4 month ones, and we think nothing after her 6 month injections, but it was difficult to tell as within days of her having these needles, we all got a terrible bout of gastro & she also got her first two teeth!

Owen hasnt had any probs with his injections. We normally give him a dose of panadol before we leave for the Dr's office and he doesnt even get grizzly.
Neither of the boys have had any real problems, maybe a little grumpy afterwards but nothing major. We dose them up on panadol before we go.
I think the benefits of getting them done far out weight the grumpy night we have afterwards.
As others have said the benfits of immunisation outweigh the negatives.
Ejs had a bit of a temp a couple of times, irritable and with the 4mth ones her legs did go pretty swollen where she was injected for a day or so. With the 2mth and 6mth ones her temp did actually drop a little afterwards which is weird and no one can actually tell me why that happened

I havent had any dramas with Boof besides the irritability & the likes but i was worried because as a child i had a reaction so all mine were done in half doses.
That is another option of your not sure is to do half doses or hold some of them off till your bubs is a little older & can cope with them better.
Good luck with your decision. :)
