View Full Version : can someone recommend me a nappy?
Hi clothies!
looking for some recommendations. I have a bit of a hodge podge stash (well, you couldn't really even call it a stash yet.. I'm still building!). I really like trying new things but am looking for a great nappy for my bub that I can stock up on.
My boy is 14 months and 13 kgs. He's pretty chunky in the legs and tummy. He's only just started walking so might lose some of that. He's not pudgy.. just stocky, IYKWIM? Average height (ie, not a long or short body), so I 'spose I'm looking for a nappy with decent leg sizes, preferably soft elastic too as we have had a few problems with red marks on the leg, and a decent size tummy too. We have 1 GK's now and he's on the second last snap. I am really hoping I can find one that will see him through to TT'ing. Are side snap better for big tummies?
He's definatly a big front wetter as he's a tummy sleeper. I am using pockets now and really like them.
any pointers would be greatly appreciated!
thanks!
:)

So far my favourites are a TotsBots AIO OSFA Fluffles (strange, I know but I actually LOVE it) BBH Magic-Alls AIO Pocket (Minkeeeeee!) and even though they are cheap I actually am enjoying my Pea Pods.

BBH magicalls multifits! They're new-ish, quite exxy (well, not compared to a GK but to a regular magicall they are!) and they're pockets - great for winter. I haven't had a leak with mine, and they dry faster (the actual nappy part does anyway) than say a bumgenius or a blueberry.
thanks for those! I have been off googling them.. very tempted to spend a ridiculous amount of money here! :p
so BBH magic alls are pockets??? i never knew that! I thought they were AIO's

:iagree:
I just got a few at the Expo with the woman saying she used them on her DS even at nite with an extra booster & all was fine ... I remember thinking yeah right you dont know how well G wee's LOL !
Seriously I LOVE these nappies !
Yeah they are minky so you cant go wrong but you can adjust them if needed but I doubt your DS will need them to be snapped down as G doesnt but I do like his nappies sitting high because he too is a tummy sleeper.
They are exxy at what $36 ( kicking myself for not getting more at the Expo for $28 !!! ) but they come with two inserts so for me thats worthwhile when many nappies are towards $30 or so & then you still need the boosters !
G had one on the other day for like 7hrs & while he hadnt drunk the normal amount he tends to it didnt leak one bit !!! I reckon 5hrs wouldve been easy had he been drinking like normal ! Bluddy brilliant & I have also tried them at nite with no problem at all with an extra trifold & again no leaks .... The only nite nappy that works that well are KK's for us !
Otherwise I would say Patootie Booties as they can be adjusted really well too but I am not sure whether she is 'running' atm but if you are interested I can show you some piccies of the nappies she made us & also contact her for you !

Magicalls are AIO's & are sized whereas the Multifits are OSFM pockets !
I would recommend Baby safari. My son is about 11kg and sounds like he's a similar build and he is still on the tightest snap of the medium size.
They are side snapping pockets and really well priced, about $20 each. You should have a look!

the multi fit BBH are sounding so good! I'm going to get one right now :D
hmm.. wonder when the melb expo is? I might wait for it and go crazy!! (gosh I love the baby expo! :D)

The sized Magic-Alls are AIO pockets. So they can be stuffed to add more absorbency or can be left as is. :)
ooh, I like the idea of both.
any idea which are larger? the multi fits I assume?
(btw.. the melb expo isn't until October! :( .. don't want to wait that long!)

I can check in the morning for you :D I have both large magicalls and a multifit on the line.
I'll stuff the multifit too, so its actually comparable to a sized, since the sized already has microfibre layers.
that would be awesome MJ! My bub is kinda big now and I really want anything I stock up on to last.. so I think I really want the biggest
thanks! :)

Either way, I think they both go up to 16kg technically :S

Hi Jag
I have the same problem with my DD. She is 11kg and not very chunky but most of our nappies seem to dig in around the legs and leave a red mark. I have magicalls, issy bear, bbh fitted in hemp and bamboo and fitted blueberry and a few wahm ( which need the bin they are awful)
I have the old style magicalls with out the pocket and also a new osfm magicall and that one is the best by far. The sized magicall digs in but the other doesn't. And looks better too.:) And lasts longer with the wees.
MJ do you find the same thing?

gawd i just got rid of my magicalls...took forever to dry...not good enough when i need to rotate them on and off the clothesline and a pita to turn them inside out..but i am just impatient and loathe to use the dryer unless necessary :)

Oh & another option is that many dont realise is that while GreenKids are OSFM if you contact Sasha is will be more than happy to sort out a larger nappy for you ;)
We did this for Boof & these nappies were still fitting him at 3.5yrs ( wearing size 4-5 ) & 18kgs ! :)

I have the newer style magicalls, and don't find that they cut in at all.
Ok, had a look this morning, stuffed with the trifold booster you get with the multifit, the wings on the front are slightly longer on the multifit, the wings on the back slightly shorter. No difference at all in the length. Hope this helps!
