There is a new hotel down there called Medina Grand, not sure of any others. A good site to go to is wotif.com they always have really good deals. I've worked in several hotels and wotif always had the best deals JMO.

Hope you have a great holiday, the new convention centre looks great. We are really keen to check out the new wave pool, i've heard some good things about it.

Darwin is so tiny, so long as the hotel is somewhere in the city you can easily walk to the Warf, fishermans gully, the clubs etc. be sure to checkout all of the local food markets! (and bring me back some market food, hey?)

Hi. We just moved here and spent a month in serviced accommodation.

First we were in the Travelodge Mirambeena on Cavenagh street. It was OK, not great (a serviced apartment with a mezzanine bedroom). The kitchen didn't have an oven, and only a two-element stove, so after two weeks we were totally struggling for dinner ideas.

Then we moved to the Medina down at the Waterfront. I believe it's only about $40 extra per night, and it's about 100 times as good. It's brand new, and it's actually a proper apartment, not just a big hotel room with a stove element. It was fantastic.

Medina is the serviced apartment 'brand', and the same group owns the Vibe hotel, which is just the standard hotel room 'brand'.

Thanks after some research that's the one I am after.

Thanks to the other ladies. I have been to Darwin before and know it's tiny but I think 2 be walking to the wharf from town is a little too far for us. We are only going to see family and friends so would love to stay at the new waterfront.

thanks ladies.

Yeah it's a hike to the whaf from anywhere if you don't have a car, only cause it's so long to walk along the wharf...

But, to get down to the waterfront is easy if you're staying up in town - there is a lift at the end of Smith Street, then a footbridge and another lift down to the Medina. Sooooo easy and un-sweat-provoking :)
