Moving to Townsville with new bub - HELP ???????

MOving to Townsville in Aug with a 2 month old (im due in 3 weeks)..

I dont know anyone there and my partner will be working long hours -

Is there anybody that could tell me a little about the area and mothers groups ect ??

i was in a similar situation when i moved here. the best thing i ever did was go to the IMPS clinic. Basically its a baby clinic that has child health nurses and lactation consultants and a sleep centre. But the best thing was the parenting classes. the information was good but making friends with the other mums was a life saver. after the parenting class (3 sessions total), we would meet up for a coffee, that was the begining of our mothers group. 11 months later, we just celebrated our babies 1st birthdays (they are all born with in 6 weeks of each other).

Another great free group to meet other mums is Rhyme Time at the Thuringowa Library. Mum and bub (from any age) go along to the library for 1/2 an hour of singing and actions. the kids love it and there are always lots of mums (and some dads) to chat to.

I moved up to Townsville from Brisbane about 6 months ago and I hate to admit it but it is growing on me :)

Winter is beautiful here - perfect weather! I have met a couple of nice girls here but still havent gotten into the "mother's group thing". I'm just slack really!

I noticed in another post that you are a flight attendant too. I am on maternity leave and moved here for my DH's work. We have every intention of moving back to Brisbane in a couple of years when I have to go back to work though.
