In Queensland, we have dental hospitals that see people with concession cards for free if you turn up prior to 8am, and typically wait around half the day until you are seen. I dont know whether or not Victoria has the same practice.

Thanks so much
I dont know whether its an ear infection causing the pain or the other way around
Maybe I shuld try calling nurse on call and see what they say
my wisdom tooth pain made it feel like I had an earache. It was shocking! Can you see a bulk billing doctor first this morning then they can tell you what it is?

I know with my teeth pain (I've since had 14 teeth out) I use to get horrific pain in my ear, and just below my ear where my jaw met...
My dentist would call it residual pain, and if I understand it correctly, is you may have pain in your ear/jaw, but it is actually one of your teeth. If you can get it to see a dentist they should be able to work out which tooth it actually is. Many a times, I thought it was a certian tooth, but my dentist would take a different one out, and my problem would be solved...
...in the meantime, there is an over the counter pain relief called Fiorinal Dental (Fee-or-ren-al) which works a treat. It's around $7 - $9, and is kept behind the counter, and needs a label. It does have codiene in it though, so it will make you sleepy, and I can't exactly remember if it's safe for pregnant/breastfeeding mumma's.
I hope you can get it sorted soon. I have had many a nights in agony ending up at the hospital, so I feel your pain...

Im still on hold with Nurse on Call, it has been 37 mins :(
Im wondering if maybe I should just make a doctors appointment for tomorrow and go and get that pain relief you mentioned. I cant pinpoint the tooth, coz it hurts the bottom and top.. My ear aches being inside or outside so I cant win
Thanks for your reply

Yup, that's exactly how I would feel. Have a feel round with your tounge/finger to see if you can find any cracks/holes any difference in your teeth...
And whatever you do, don't apply heat to your mouth (like a heat pack) it may provide temporary relief, but it will increase the blood flow to your mouth and increase the pain once the heat has worn off. The best thing is a cold pack. It doesn't feel any good but it will help!
Hope you get through soon!

I got through and He said that I need to be seen within the next 24hours by a GP, to keep up the painkillers until then, maybe use a warm flannel to help with the pain. He said it was my choice if I wanted to go to the Emergency, but it may be a very long wait as it wouldnt be priority with swine flu.
Im going to hunt around to see if I can find another doctor that can see me asap, i cant wait until 5:30
Now... any ideas of a bulk bill doctor? I live in knox area, well kind of... (Emerald)

I haven't read the whole thread.
But, the community dentist is in Ferntree Gully, where the old VicRoads building was (do you remember that??) It's opp the shopping centre formely known as Safeway.
I had an emergency appointment there and it was a 6 week wait. Really, unless your willing to pay full price to see a dentist you'll have a bit of a wait ahead of you.
I'm on the waiting list to get 2 teeth pulled while under a general (long story, I can't have them out in the chair) it's a 5 year wait. I'm not in any pain at the momene, it comes and goes, but I'm not paying $7,000 to have them pulled in the private system.

Thanks for all the replies guys
I went to the doctors and she said that theres no infection in my ear, or in my mouth that she can see. My left gland is a bit swollen... I have panadeine forte to get through :(
I nearly passed out from pain on the bus before :(

I know there is a dentist in Heathmont (just near the car washing place on Canterbury Road) that will see you with a HCC. My friend had her wisdom teeth out about 2 years ago there so you could check that out.....hope the pain has eased for you!

I know it's a bit late, but for future reference there is a dental hospital off the moorabbin hospital on centre road east bentleigh. I have taken the kids there a couple of times. they were very good. Th dental hospital is on one of the roads off centre road.
