I know wedding planners are huge in America but I just wanted to know what people here think?

Also if you did decide to hire one what do you think would be a reasonable price for assisting with planning the whole wedding right through to being there on the day?

I worked as a wedding planner in the Pokolbin and Hunter wine region here in NSW. After working in the industry and doing many different wedding. It is a lot cheaper to do it yourself.

My advise stick to what you and your partner want don't be persuaded by family or friends to do anything you don't want, and remember it is only one day, you have the rest of your lives to enjoy too...

At the moment in the same area one of my friends gets paid $2000-$5000 per wedding. I can tell you I was never getting that much LOL.

I am currently organising my own wedding and TBH I wish I had of got a wedding planner. There are so many things to do, and remember to do and it is hard as I work full time and have DD....bleh...

Never. Ever. Again.

My XDF and I planned our wedding ourselves the year before last and this was me as soon as conversation turned to weddings: :sleeping:

Heck yes I'd have a wedding planner!

I like the idea of being in control :p. I wouldn't want anyone else influencing my decisions. Having said that, DH & I had the most laid back and basic wedding. A wedding planner would have been very bored indeed!

As unmotivated as i was planning my own wedding i would never hire a wedding planner. Mostly because i hate spending money on unnecessary things and i can plan a wedding myself - even if it bores me greatly :D

No way...that was DH's job...he organised the whole thing and I just got dressed on the day. I didn't even know where we were getting married until the day (my dad let it slip in the morning otherwise it wouldn't have been until I arrived) and it was the best! I would never organise a wedding myself but couldn't justify the cost in a wedding planner. I'm not big on wedding's though.
