Cat...LOL at the possible boy bits. I hate to tell you, but at this stage boy bits and girl bits look very similar to the untrained eye.
3Divas...hope you managed to get the mess sorted without blowing your top. I don't iknow if I could have managed. it.
Tabby...yeah, the IL's favour my BIL a bit, but more so because they live closest to them and he's in a wheelchair with limited abilities. The SIL is a b!tch who takes full advantage of them, which probably annoys me more.
Mim...:yelclap: well done for the easy transition to the big bed. Sounds like it was an easy decision with your whodini (Sp?).
Strawberry...hope all is well with your bunch.

Us...Still no progress towards TT. TJ still doesn't care if she sitting in a wet or pooy nappy. It's driving me insane. I so want to be finished with nappies.

Have a great day,
Lisa

Mim: Yay for the transition going easy, hope the rest of the night went well too?

2snuff: yup, must be the evil sil that do it then lol

I ended up quite cranky yesterday, the poo was everywhere- she had used it to make poo pies with her kitchen set- it was in the sink, on the pretend tap, in plastic saucepans, in the pretend fridge, in the pretend oven, in the pretend microwave- it had been sliced and diced with the playdough equipment.... it was everywhere!!:hair:

Bridget got into very big trouble and is still reminding me today that "mummy smacked" and I just feel so god damn guilty. Then mum turns up while I was cleaning it and went on with the whole "you dont spend enough time with her.... she wants some attention form you...":ecomcity: So made me feel worse cause had I spent more time with her maybe she would not have decorated her room with cr@p!!

Sorry for the rant- still not over it properly- just cant believe she did it really.

:hugs::hugs: This age they are all about mischief. So spending more time with her IMO, would not have stopped this mess. And don't feel guilty about giving her a smack, TJ would have got one if she'd done it.

:wave:Everyone.

Sorry I’ve been MIA it’s just been a busy few weeks. I received some bad news. My grandfather passed away this morning. It’s weird cause this day last year we said good bye to my grandma. As you can imagine my dad is shattered and so unset. Next week is going to be even worse when it comes to the funeral. On a better note T1 goes to the toilet unassisted now and it’s great. He doesn’t wake me up during the night anymore, if he needs to go he just goes. All the kids are sick at the moment. T2 is cutting her last couple of teeth so we’ve had some cranky nights here otherwise she’s going well. No biting so hopefully we are over that stage.

Sorry no personal will try and get back to it. Have to go and pick up the girls from school and my babies from daycare.

Talk soon

Aaahhh Kel :hugs: really sorry to hear about your grandfather. I hope all the arrangements go smoothly for you and your family :hugs:

3divas - :hair: sometimes our mums' need to know when to zip. Caitlin is all over the place - I can't literally follow her every second of the day - however, we all do the best to make sure everything they can get to is safe and that's the best we can do.

TT - i have a book a friend loaned to me so i'll get reading and let you know any tips. I have a hunch that Caitlin sings a song when she wees now - it goes "wee wee wee wee wee" ?!!!? and also goes behind the couch to poo and comes out and asked to have her nappy changed (big step because before she'd complete deny a messy nappy!) still got a way to go tho :)

IL's - so far so good. We had 2 outfits, 2 hoodies, a rocking horse, a remote control helicopter and a painting coem through the door as gifts. Apparently there's 3 more boxes. Fingers crossed they're SHOEboxes and not chest freezer boxes!! I have spent months decluttering my house (apart from our spare room which is full of all the other gifts they've imposed upon us (woops I mean we've gratefully received!) so I'll be pretty annoyed if I get loaded up with more. It's been hard work!!

I'm quite proud of myself coz in the time the kids have slept i've stuffed and cooked 2 chickens, a salad, a potato bake, devilled eggs, a coleslaw, whipped cream, and got custard, [bought] apple pie and bread rolls ready. how good am I!! And I still have time to come on here!!!! :yelclap: for me. That's the thing about being a mum - you're the only one to congratulate yourself coz no one sees hehe.. hence why i'm boasting.

Cordelia: Boast away! you deserve it and as you say we dont get it any where else.
Looking forward to any tips re TT, We are set to hit it hard in 4 weeks once im home

Kel: hugs sweetheart, replied your FB status this morning, hope next week goes smoothly :hugs:

3divas: Dont feel bad hun, would have done exact same! and yes 2snuff is right, they are at that age and are going to get into mischief regardless of time spent..Shes obviously a hand ful , some are like that, ds2 was too! and no amount of extra attention fixes it imo.
Dont beat your self up over your Mums comment :hugs:

decent days work today finally and more again tomorrow, good cos my pocket needs it before I leave!

Cordelia...:yelclap:well done on being so organised.
Tabby...:yelclap:for the 2 days work. Can you set up a cash arrangement after June 30? If they don't have much work, it might only mean the odd day for you, and still bring in some extra $$.

Us...:smiliedance::smiliedance::smiliedance: TJ had a dry night last night and held on for a good 20 minutes after she woke.
She told me last night that Mullet (our dog) does wee and poo on the lawn. When I asked where she did wee and poo she said the toilet, so I think the message is starting to get there.

Have a great day!

Hi everyone

Dr's appointment was pretty uneventful. He wants me to wait 6 weeks to see if it goes away by itself or if it gets any bigger etc. If its still there then he will take it out & if it goes away then good lol. I am just a bit stressed/worried because my mum went thru the same thing, in the exact same spot & its was pretty stressful for her even though all 4 of her tumors weren't malignant. I am on strong antibiotics as well to try & get rid of any infection there may be but they are making me feel pretty crappy. Also DD1 has got bad tonsillitis so is pretty grumpy & i feel like i'm getting it cos my throat is really sore today. Could be worse though...
Least its not swine flu

But on a good note... DD2 & Sierra are ok & hopefully stay that way.

greetings............... from somewhere in outer space!!....... so tired!!!

daniel only woke 4 times last night so we're doing a bit better...arrggghhhh 2snuff how do you do it!? I think we're going to have to let him do a bit of a grizzle before we jump up and stuff the dummy in his mouth before he wakes caitlin. DH and I are walking around completely spaced out every day. it's just not workable and it's just not cricket master daniel!!

TT - got "The Book"" potty training 123... but it's a method that you do in 4 days. (but should be all good to go by 1 day) I guess its' worth a shot. if it doesn't work, no big deal!!

tiredmummy - how frustratingggg arrghhh.... I hope that it goes away for you :hugs:

2snuff - gorgeous photos!! i love the curtains. I really wanted butterfly ones for caitlin's butterfly room but ended up with white princess ones.... I dont think i ever put up a photo of her final room - i might get roudn to it one day  you may have seen it when you were here anyway.

well il's are staying away... very blaise. not sure if they're coming around tonight. so when my friend rang to see if i wanted to go to the movies i said yes!! woohoo!!! hehe

Hi all- been busy the last 2 days with school and going away agin tomorrow for my friends wedding.

Tired- hope you a/ b sort out the lump- frustrating waiting though.

2snuff- well done to tj and her toilet understanding- does not take long after that- I am so surprised at how well Bridget goes now. Photos are great- cute haircut- lovely curtains.

cordelia- hope you manage to catch up on some sleep- good thing the il's arent in your face atm:thumbsup:

Tabby-glad you got some work this week- when do you start testing this month?

Strawberry- hope everything is ok for you and your family during this difficult time.:hugs:

The 2 little ones went to my cousin inlaws today- she does family daycare and I had to go to a network meeting and had no sitter so they went there- they did really well- Bridget just loved it and got along with the other kids really well and Phoebe was great too. The C-IL did mention though how busy Bridget is and said no wonder you find her tiring!! I am glad somebody else thinks so- that is the best way to describe her I think- very very busy.... all the time!

Hope you all have a great w/e. I will be back Monday:wave:

 have been reading but keyboard has been out of action so no posting. Working fine now though so it must have just been on strike.

Will have to wake Cameron soon to go and pick DH up from the airport after 3 weeks away. He has this week off though which will be nice and might all go away for a couple of days but no specific plans yet.

Cameron's big bed arrived yesterday and all the linen is washed and ready to go so will move it in to his room tonight if DH is up to it. I'm hoping the novelty of it will stop the bedtime protests but probably wishful thinking. I also like the idea of buying a special toy that is only for bedtime but can't think of what would do the trick - stuffed toys don't hold his attention long but of course it can't be something toooo exciting either.

TT - Cameron does get the idea. When he's done something in his nappy or pants and I ask where it should be done he answers pot or toilet straight away and he says oh-oh and tells me when he has an accident. We had a success of sorts the other morning. I saw him take the #2 stance in the lounge room and casually said "if you do poo in the pot you get a chocolate - do you need poo?". And what do you know instead of screaming at me to go away like he normally does when I catch him out he happily held on and toddled off to the pot. And promptly demanded his chocolate!! Have bought the 3 day potty training guide but going to keep on as we are for now and then do some more intensive training if no further improvement in a couple of months.

tiredmummy - try and rest up (as much as you can anyway!)

tabby - so hard NOT to test isn't it. :fingerscrossed:

take care all,

mim1
06-06-2009, 18:22
Cathy ... glad all is going well. All the best for the changing of the room around. Can't help much with a cuddly toy, Josh cuddles everything (even the pizza bases at coles last week!), so any soft teddy ends up in his cot if he gets to choose. At the moment he's limited to 4.

tabby ... all the best with testing

3Divas ... have a good time at the wedding!

Cordelia ... sorry to hear about all the waking. I remember that time with Josh. I was a zombie, but it didn't matter so much as I could rest during the day when he could. I'm not looking forward to #2 when that is not an option ... although at this stage Josh will be at least in kinder by the time I have #2, so that's good I suppose ... or bad, cause it means I'm out of the house 3 days a week.

tiredmummy ... I had this huge (ok 2cm) lymph node out the side of my neck for 6 weeks before I went to my GP. I didn't realise I had any symptoms of glandular, but I knew that if it wasn't glandular I'd need a biopsy and as it was 4 weeks til my wedding the timing was very bad! Thankfully it was glandular and so no biopsy was needed. In retrospect I'd been having symptoms for nearly 2 months including fevers and I'd just been ignoring them as I was busy in final year uni and getting ready for my wedding. The good thing with the 'late' diagnosis was that I was only sick for another 2 months ... sick meaning more tired than usual. I hope you feel better soon :hugs:

Us .. it's been a really big week. Work has been an emotional rollercoaster with lots of issues. It ended ok, but it was quite a journey. Josh added to the chaos by climbing out of his cot twice on Tuesday, so his cot became a toddler bed by Tuesday night. He slept ok Tuesday and Wednesday night, but was in and out of his cot for 2 hours on Thursday night (til nearly 10:30pm!). It took 1.5 hours to settle him yesterday afternoon, but he was beyond tired so I persisted and he slept for 3 hours. He's at my MIL's overnight tonight and I hope that's ok. He climbed out of the portacot this afternoon and 'only slept for 1/2 hour', which probably means he was quiet for that long and didn't sleep at all. He did fill the portacot with the contents of his bag though ! :)

So many changes. He's also growing out of our car seats so we need to get maxi riders asap for him in our cars.

I'm home alone tonight, which is unusual, but good. Oh, the washing machine has finished, time for another load.

Cat13
07-06-2009, 13:40
mim - Cameron is definitely hardest to settle when he is at that beyond tired stage. So hard to catch them at that window between not tired enough and overtired.

Well haven't made the move to the big bed yet although I am dying to now that it has arrived. But DH has booked us in for a break at Daydream Island from Tues to Sat so probably no point until we get back and can have some bedtime consistancy. Have never had a resort style holiday before so will be nice for some quality family time before DH heads off overseas in July (even if I am currently freaking out at the extravagance - I'm definitely the saver and DH the spender!!). Will hopefully also have another week's holiday together before then.

Have a good Queen's bday long weekend for those in appplicable states.

2s'nuff
08-06-2009, 09:28
Cat...enjoy your few days away! I'm very envious of you.
Mim...even when J is soooo tired during the day, only let him have a short sleep. Just enough to take the edge off. You may then find it easier at bedtime. Have you tried putting him down for a rest in front of a movie? DD1 got to the stage where she wouldn't have a daytime sleep in her bed, but the moment I put her infront of a movie she was out like a light. I think it comes down to them relaxing enough to let sleep take over.
Tabby...good luck with the testing. I guess you test when you're sure of a real result.
3Divas...hope the wedding went well.

Us...a busy weekend. Managed to get through my umpiring without needing a stretch to carry me off. Went out for a disasterous dinner (at the local pub) Saturday night and with lots of discussions when we got home, managed to get to sleep by 2.30 am:rolleyes:. The latest I have been up n a very long time. Nephews birthday party went well yesterday and wore both kids out nicely. TJ only woke once last night and resettled without any milk:smiliedance:.

hi everyone,

2snuff - why was your dinner disastrous?? hope everything's ok. hate stupid false alarms.

3divas - it's gratifying when other's find your little one (as you say) "busy" hehe... phew it's not just me!!

cat - daydream island !!! aaahhhhh :) beautiful. probably best to save big changes until then!! i reckon he'll go in the big bed fine tho :)

mim - how's the sleeping going?

us - gearing up for gold coast on SATURDAY!!! caitlin not sleeping well - is overtired. so will just cruise through the holiday and try and get her back to early bedtimes. Daniel slept til 5:30 last night - it's amazing the different turning the baby monitor makes to his sleep!!! figure that if he needs us we'll hear him (which we did at 5:30)

OK inlaws arriving in 20 minutes to look after kids while i go to the bank and then out to dinner with a friend!!! Caitlin is not going to sleep tonight but figured it didn't really matter if she's still awake when we get home.

hi everyone,

2snuff - why was your dinner disastrous??
Went to the Gingin pub. Had a booking for 6pm, they only had one waitress on for all their tables. After waiting 10 minutes for her to show us to our tbale, we figured the 12 seater was ours and sat down. Had to flag her down to get an order in for the kids. Later flagged her down to place an order for us. Only to be told (1/2 an hour later) that they had run out of snapper. So mum and I had to choose again. Only other things on the menu was steak/prawns or squid. I asked if the squid was fresh and not frozen. She assured me it was, so I ordered it. It finally came out (after everyone else had finished. Mum's well-done steak was still mooing, my squid was crumbed frozen variety, the salad being a scoop of tinned 3 bean mix and 1 cherry tomato halved in lettuce:rolleyes:. At that point the kids were going ferral as it was well past their bed time. I spoke to the Manager (I was not happy). Re-ordered my meal, garlic prawns, what could go wrong? Demanded free icecream for the kids (5 in total). My meal finally came about 9pm, well after everyone else had finished, and the prawns were overcooked:hair::banghead::banghead:.

I had been looking forward to a nice meal out all week.

Enjoy your holiday!

OMG 2snuff what a horrid experience!!!

Sorry for the me post- just jumping on quickly before I crash- am very tired.
The weekend went really well- wedding was beautiful, my friend looked gorgeous (photos on fb if interested), and the food was over the top but awesome!! Had a great time.
Kids did well with my mum, though have come home to Bridget with a temp of 39 so she is not too well.

Cat- hope you are enjoying your getaway, sounds lovely- and Cordelia, bet your counting down the days til your holiday:thumbsup:

Will try to write more next time, bed is calling.

2snuff ... so much for an enjoyable night out - sounds like anything but!

3divas ... sounds like a lovely weekend, pity about your little sickie, hope she's better tomorrow.

cordelia ... all the best for the trip to the gold coast - hope you have fun!

cat ... have a lovely time away with your dh. there's plenty of time to do the bed move when you get back.

Thanks for your suggestions about josh. Things are going very well actually. He's going to sleep pretty readily now in the afternoon and evening and still sleeping 11 - 12 hours overnight and 3 - 4 hours in the afternoon. Sickening I know. Of course when he went to my MIL's he was awake for a couple of hours in the middle of the night. Actually I think I just didn't tell them that sometimes he wakes overnight briefly but resettles with a simple 'its all ok, go back to sleep' ... so he woke up fully and led them on a merry dance at 1am! He's telling me 'no climbing out of my bed' before he goes to sleep and in the morning he's awake but still in bed when I go in, waiting for me to give permission to get up. Wow, what a difference a week makes!

Dh & I are both sick - me not too bad, dh is quite miserable. Hopefully I'm better tomorrow as I've got a full week at work.

Mim - Hope you are feeling better today.
3Diva's - Great pics. Looks like you had a great day/night. Hope Bridget is feeling better.
2'snuf - What a horrible dinner. I would have complained too.
Cordelia - Have a great time away!

Us - DD1 is still not the best but better than she was. DD2 is now not well, not sure if it is tonsillitis or just a bad cough. She is starting to work a bit harder with her breathing so i've just given her her ventolin & will have to keep an eye on her. I thought i was getting tonsillitis cos i had a really sore throat & a sore chest.. felt like i was getting a chest infection but its weird cos it keeps coming and going but not really turning into anything. Start feeling really crappy in the afternoon & lasts all night & then i feel ok when i wake up. Its happened for the last 4 days now. Dr said it probably is still the glandular fever. So i'm just going with that.
It was nice to have a public holiday yesterday & the girls have friday off school too so very happy it will be a short week. :smiliedance:

3Divas...Hope B's temp has sorted itself out.

Us...:smiliedance:Slept through last night, I don't even think I got out of bed:rolleyes::p. I remember waking at one stage thinking I should check the kids and decided it was too cold and that they had their heaters on, and snuggled back into the covers, LOL.

Yesterday was the ann of L and Z death. Can't believe it's been 12 months. Haven't seen or heard anything regarding Kylie, so don't know if it's gone to trial yet or not. Anyone heard anything?

Have a great day,

2snuff- well done for the sleeps- with this cold weather you dont want to be up during the night.
I cant believe it has been a year- and not heard anything about it at all since really- I do wonder though what will happen with her???

Tired- hope your whole clan start feeling beter soon- might see you on Friday the 14 of August- where are you guys? We are on the dancefloor.

Mim- glad Josh's nights are getting better- makes nights much easier.

So I got up and got tickets today to go and See Pink in concert- a friend and me are flying to melbourne to see her in August- cant wait to go- and Tired is going to be at the same show!!!

Bridget is a bit better today but still not the best- went to kindermusik this am and she was reluctant to join in today- which is unlike her.

Hope your all well- we have a cold snap here- predicting a top of 3 degrees tomorrow and possible snow!! Perfect day for staying indoors and I have to work!

Caitlin's sleeps are up and down. her big thing is sneaking out and going to play with her toys or sit on her rocking horse. Some days she's up for 45 minutes sneaking around (doesn't think I know!) Oh well - at least I'm still getting my break I guess!!!

I cant' remember if I wrote that Daniel had stopped feeding. :( but seems to be back on track today - finished all 3 bottles- yay!! was so worried.

3 sleeps til our holiday. 3 sleeps til no more il's. 3 sleeps to get ready - YIKES!!!!!!!

better go organise dinner. bye :)

Cordelia...:yelclap:yah only 2 sleeps to go. Good to hear D is back on track with his feeding.
Tired & 2 Divas...very jealous of yoru concert tickets. I never bother trying to get tickets as I can't pick if DH will be home or not that far in advance.
Tabby...Any results?

Us...A crappy night last ngiht. TJ woke up wet at 2 and wasn't really settled after that. DD1 woke at 5, thinking it was 6 on her clock. Was not happy.
Why does it always p!ss down when it's time to drop the kids off at daycare? This morning all 3 of us were in raincoats. Managed to keep the kids dry and my top half, but my pants are wet up to mid calf - yuck. Hope DD1 manages to get to school without getting wet.

Have a great day,
Lisa

2snuff- I also had a bad night last night with Phoebe- not well- high temps and very unsettled- and then Bridget woke at some point too- had both in my bed- dh was away for work last night- so very tiring! Bummer about the rain though- good we are getting it but does tend to pour in the most inconvenient of times:rolleyes:

Cordelia- have you seen much of the IL's? seems quiet on that front this visit:laughing: Hope the weather is good for your holiday- how long are you away for?

So have a sick little bub atm- which makes life a little tougher- and princess Bridget has just woken up and is half asleep sooking on my knee- while Phoebe sits crying looking at me, jealous that Bridget appears to be getting all the attention- JOY!!:sunshine:

2snuff: Does tj drink much pre bed time? maybe cut it down if can?..I had to do that for Katie when she kept waking up soaked and since then have had better nights

3divas, tiredmummy: lucky yous!!! very envious, love Pink! dont forget the pics

3divas: aw Hope Phoebe is feeling better soon.

Last night Katie said " I dont need botbot Mum" when I took it in for bed time so I said ok and she went to sleep without it! She says shes a big girl now is why hehe. wanted it this arvo though but thats okay..slowly does it
Have also pumped her up in prep for when im home to TT and she said yes...will see though lol

I cant wait to leave work, this cold is killing me
Soon as it got cold my neck started and hasnt stopped. Have been on panadol for 2 weeks straight now..not good. usualy 2-3 days and am better..waiting to see what TTC brings and then will most likely be up for surgery no4 to fix as its affecting my left arm this time so probably a lower and different disc has deteriorated.
I tested today for negative, af due tomorrow..
very down about it all at the moment

Tabby – :hugs::hugs: hun.

Tired mummy & 3Divas – Very jealous indeed. I was going to get Pink tickets but don’t really have a baby sitter.

Cordelia – The weather here during the day has been awesome. Nights are very chilly. Brrrr we are down to -1 in the morning.

2s’nuff – Sorry to hear you had a cr@ppy night. My kids have been waking up around 6.30ish so I guess I can’t complain. Would really love them to sleep into 7.30 though :D

Mim – I hope you’re feeling better. Hows J going in the big boys bed?

Us – Had a Tupperware party on Sunday. T1 got the bug that’s going around. Poor little man he was so exhausted due to constantly spewing. I than came down with it on Monday and was spewing till midnight Monday night. Had my grandfather’s funeral on Tuesday (my birthday) so it wasn’t really a good day to celebrate my birthday. My dad was the celebrate for the funeral. He did an awesome job considering he was still grieving. While my father was talking T1 stood up and said “that’s my poppy” it was so cute. Everyone commented on how well behaved my kids were. I did get in trouble from T1 because I forgot to take his DS. Thank goodness my little nephew let T1 play his while we were out on Tuesday. Kids went to day-care on Wednesday and then hubby came down with the ‘bug’. So I disinfected everything possible in my house and I’m sure my washing machine hasn’t washed some many items in one day hahaha. Bring on the weekend, can’t wait for this week to be over.

Better go have a dishwasher to stack and I’m still very tired. I’m going to have an early night.

Take care
Kels

Strawberry hope you are feeling better soon, its such a horrible bug.
3Diva's - Hope Bridget is better!
Tabby - :hugs: I have everything crossed for you.

Us - Well it's not any better here. Sierra has a really bad cold, croupy cough & high temp. DD2 has a high temp, bad cough & was about to take her to hospital the other night until she turned a corner & has been better since but her cough is still really horrible. She sounds like an old man. I now have a cold & really sore throat... bummer. To top things off DD1 has had nits again :hair: So i had to do her hair again! I hate it. Have checked her hair since & haven't found any but last night she was laying on her little couch watching tv & she had bites all over her face & neck so i think the little buggers have found there way in there. Looks like i will be throwing that couch away & getting a new one  Might have to invest in one of those combs that you suggested 2s'nuff.
I hate it when the girls are sick & not at school... i feel so guilty. Dont know why. But i did get emailed the school newsletter yesterday & there was a section regarding head lice & how many parents have complained about it & not to send kids to school until they are nit free so it made me feel a little less guilty. Very happy the have a pupil free day today!!

Strawberry...a belated happybirthday for Tuesday. Hope your household is free of the tummy bug soon.
Tabby...:hugs: for testing and work, not long to go now. Yes, TJ still has a tiny drink at bedtime but fell asleep without it the other night, so hope to wean her off it soon.
Tired...:hugs: you've had a bad run lately. Hope you get rid of the beasties soon.
3Divas...:hugs:hope your little ones start to feel better soon.

Us...my wee buggers have decided 5am is wakeup time again this week. Not even the bloody cold mornings are putting them off.

Have a great weekend. Dh flew in yesterday and we've got a new baby to see (firends).

happybirthday Strawberry- better late than never- lol! Hope you had a great day.

Tabby- :hugs: for you- must be so difficult for you- where to from here? Do you have another round of clomid?
On the upside- great that Katie is distancing herself from her bot bot!!:yelclap:

Tired- been like your house in my house this week- we have bounced off each other with temps and stuff- hope your crew is better soon.

I was pretty ill yesterday- woke today after a 9am sleep in(!!), feeling not too bad- throat still a bit scratchy but not as awful as I had felt yesterday- hopefully it continues and I can go training tomorrow morning:fingerscrossed:
Trying to get Bridget to really learn her colours this week- how many of your 2yo's know their colours? All came about at kindermusik the other day where the teacher got the kids to use their words and select a coloured scarf for a dancing activity- of course Bridget was the only one who could not vocalise what colour she wanted- even though the rest of the kids asked for blue- cause the first kids asked for blue (they all copied) but Bridget did not do that. I thought to myself, I will work on this and she will be saying and selecting a colour next week.... god damn it!!!

3divas: Ive not got AF yet so waiting and see. Another round of 100mg then back to my FS if not lucky
Katie knows all her colours and I mean all, even grey. I taught her through her crayons when we are drawing. Every chance we get we say a colour or count. she can now count and recognise to 3 and is learning to 5. for example we sit out front and watch the cars go by asking her what color it was..and counting is done at every oppotunity too, ex "how many have you got?"
shes is one of those little ones that yearns to learn though and always asking questions so I think thats why shes picked it up so well and so early

Hope your feeling 100% soon

tiredmummy: hope the little ones are all feeling better soon :hugs: and lice free

strawberry: belated bday wishes from me too hun

3divas - T1 knows he's colours pretty well. He constantly tells me what colour shirt he wants to wear . I think the daycare centre T1 goes to does alot with the pre-kindy group with colours and numbers. T1 can also count to 5 with no problems.

3Divas&me
13-06-2009, 15:11
I better step it up with colours then- Bridget counts- almost to 10- she can do to 5 then we say 6 and she can say 7 and then we say 8 and she can do 9 10- which is clever enough- I must have overlooked colours for some reason!

Tabby- have fun entertaining the IL's- hope you werent left too long alone with them:laughing:

Josh knows lots of colours including silver. He loves his colours. He can also count up to 9 and knows most letters, although can't say them in order.

But he spends 4 days a week with mum and she's a kindergarten teacher, so thankfully her techniques have rubbed off on us too. Books about numbers, letters and colours are common - and asking him to pick out colours or letters in all books is another idea. He's also got an alphabet wooden puzzle and an alphabet train puzzle.

But each child still learns in their own time. There is no rush to learn letters or numbers, or even colours. In fact, on my development info sheet I have at home it says to know 1 colour is normal for a 2.5 - 4 year old and 4 colours is 3.5 - 5 year old skills.

Mim- Josh sounds like a very clever little boy, well done to you and your mum. The time you get to spend teaching them is important- I dont have the time with Bridget that I had with dd1- and I really notice it in her development.

I bought Bridget new colour pencils yesterday to help with the colour recognition- we have pencils all over the place but bought her her own, so I know there is a full range of colours and she has some ownership over them. We have been doing heaps of colour talk with everything- the blue plate, the yellow banana, the pink socks, the blue lounge, the green pillow- etc- everything we talk about we describe with the colour.

Better go- kids are getting crazy.

Back from Daydream Island, all had a lovely time. A bit of a cold snap so too cold for swimming and too windy for boating activities but a nice break all the same. Downside is I've come back with a sore throat accompanied by some dizzy spells this morning but from reading the posts I'm not alone in being unwell.

2snuff - no, haven't heard any updates in the trial re L&Z although thoughts of them still do often cross my mind.

Gotta go, sounds like C's nap has ended earlier than expected. Don't think he's feeling 100% either. A bit of a cough while we were away and very very grumpy now - tantrum's over every little thing today

3Divas...TJ's good with ehr colours, but this is because Daycare are always doing colour based activities. She's getting there with counting. Was counting with her the other night and as long as I helped her through 5 she went to 10. Thought when she counts by herslf we get the numbers in all sorts of orders:laughing:.
Cat...good to hear you enjoyed your holiday, even though it was too cold to swim.
Tabby...:banghead: at the IL's, it's the sort of thing my mum would do.

Have been emphasizing the fact that the botbot will be gone soon as im home fulltime..wont be a happy gal when that happens lol
Not sure which i need to tackle first, bottle or potty??

HI everyone

Well i tried to get the girls to school for a full week this week but DD1 is really unwell. Picked her up from school yesterday with a temp of 40 degrees. She looked like hell & i'm quite upset that the school didnt call me to pick her up. She asked her teacher before first recess if she could go home cos she had a really sore throat & tummy but he just said have a drink & then laughed & walked away from her. She was even in tears because she felt so ill & they still didnt do anything. It really upsets me that she was feeling like that all day & they did nothing. I am thinking of giving the principal a call later on & expressing my disappointment. You could just tell by looking at her that she really wasnt well.
So anyway shes on antibiotics again. I've woken up with a cold & Sierra is still unwell with runny nose, high temps & cough. So its all fun & games here lol. Looks like a quiet uneventful weekend.

Hi Everyone,

Tiredmummy – I’d be ringing the principle for sure. That kind of behaviour is not on. Hope you girls get better real soon :hugs::hugs::.

2s’nuff – :yelclap: on getting TJ on the potty in the mornings. She’ll click soon enough. I bribed T1 with smarties for the first week, than he didn’t ask for any after that.

Tabby – T1 hasn’t had a bottle since 15 months. He has a sipper cup but now he mostly drinks from a cup. Bottle or Potty gee thats a hard choice. Do you think Katie is ready for tt or would it be easier doing bottle first? Good luck with it all.

Us - T1 is really enjoying daycare at the moment. It’s under new management as it was an ABC centre before hand. They have made heaps of changes. I have to go out and get T1 and T2 bike helmets so they can ride around the bike track. It’s awesome. Here’s the link (http://www.bushkidz.com.au/BK1/programs.html) if anyone is interested. Its really cool

T2 is really starting to talk heaps now. She now can say mum, daddy, mine, baby, no, yes, hat, head, chair, ball and spoon. I’m sure there’s more but these are words she uses regularly. We will know what will be happening next week regarding DH. We are only temporarily posted here so hoping we can stay here abit longer. It’s just past 12 here and I don’t think T1 will be having a sleep today. He’s full of beans.

Thats enough :ecomcity: today. Better go and hang out some washing while he’s busy kicking the soccerball around the house.

Tabby...I'd try and get rid of the bottle first. Gives her a little more time to be ready for TT.
Tired...:hugs: for poor DD1. Can she just go to reception and ask them to call you? Her teacher sounds like an idiot.
Strawberry...The centre looks great! I'm surprised you have to provide helmets for the bikes, our centre provides them. How's C going? Any ideas where DH might be posted? I guess you could go to Darwin now that C has had her op.

Very wet and windy outside.

Will try to came back on and catch up on posts properly.

2s'nuf - Her class has had a relief teacher all week so i think he didnt really know what to do with younger kids but its still no excuse. I told her she should have just gone to the sick bay at recess & if it ever happens again then she has to go straight to the sick bay.

Didnt have a chance to call the school today but will actually go into the office on Monday & see them personally.

tiredmummy ... surely anyone could see she was quite sick? Maybe if the teacher only noticed half an hour before school ended that's ok, but as she was feeling sick all day ...
Is she any better today? Or you?

strawberry ... all the best for next week

3divas ... it took months for josh to actually learn his colours. I felt very silly talking about colours for months and getting very little response. Then suddenly it clicked. Stick at it and she'll pick it up soon.

tabby ... tackle the bottle first. should be much easier than potty training. so, give her a week or two after you take the bottle away before starting potty training - give her time to settle in between and minimise the stress.

cat ... how are you?

us ... well, it's been a crazy few weeks. I've been sick for over 2 weeks and I'm almost 100% finally! I got 2 nasty viruses. Josh was sick about a month ago and didn't shake the cough, then he got a cold/cough virus a week ago and he's still coughing heaps! But, he's been reasonably happy and eating normally all week, just coughing and coughing.

My dh lost partial vision (in the centre) of his right eye last weekend and so we spent the afternoon at the Eye & Ear hospital. Unfortunately the vision will take 3 - 6 months to return to normal, but at least it should go back to normal. So, my dh struggled for a few days with headaches until he adjusted somewhat to the problem.

sorry to hear youve all been unwell, glad all getting better

tiredmummy: Hows everyone today? Youve had such a hard run with everyone unwell lately, surely things will pick up soon with everyone :hugs:

3divas: I agree with Mim, one day B will just let them all out.

strawberry: hope when you hear its good news

dh has a blister on his retina causing the shadowing in the centre of his vision. we're glad it will resolve and isn't vision threatening permanently, but it's been quite a difficult week for him as his usual day is 10 - 15 hours in front of the computer.

 yes I'm still here. Think I must have managed to bring those same viruses back from Melbourne with me when I visited! Feeling better today but sore throat alot of the week and won't describe what I've been coughing up - definitely TMI! Can't shake the cough, specially at night time so not getting good sleeps. Cam's still got the cough too but not troubling him too much.

Had a coughing attach while in the waiting room at my last Ob appointment on thurs - was waiting for everyone to move away from me fearing swine flu. Was the first thing my Ob asked me since he knew I'd been to Melbourne . Otherwise all good, bub slightly small for dates but Cam was only 6pd4oz at 11 days overdue so I'm not too concerned. Small babies run in the family.

A bit tired after agreeing for some silly reason to get up at 5am to go boating and fishing with DH and Cam. The ocean was not as flat as predicted so lots of rocking and rolling and banging over big waves and swell which was not much fun 5months pregnant with Cam on my lap. And even when we anchored up too rough to let him walk around the boat. DH swears he is off salt water fishing for good, should be better when at the end of July we head up for a few days at lake Tinnaroo and can just cruise arouind gently.

Apologies for no personals, will make an extra big effort next time - I promise!!

Cat...you're game heading out fishing. I kow even the slightest swell and I'm feeding the fish, LOL.

Helloooo everyone!

back from sunny qld - had a great time. The kids were superb - even on the plane! photos are on facebook if you want a squizz :)

Talk about a bunch of sickies!! Will have to wear a face mask next time I come on this thread hehe

2snuff - glad you get a break at work today then!! what a weekend....

Cat - well DO you have swine flu?? :P You must feel awful - hope you get better quick.

mim - yikes with your DH's eye!! glad you're all feeling a bit better now...

development - bunch of show offs :P I had to go test caitlin on her colours, numbers, alphabet and counting after I read all that. Poor kid!!! Findings: We all have kids who are better at one thing or another!! Caitlin's talents lay in the more "drama queen" category. but she doesnt do too badly in the other areas....

Sleep....... daniel was sleeping 7pm to 6am while we were away and is now back to 7pm - 12pm with waking every half hour or so. He's exhausted today so i'm going to let him sleep this morning then try and vaguely go by the gina ford routine to try and get back. started off with a big breakfast - which he promptly vommitted - excellent!!! great start!!! Have thoroughly cleaned his room out today and got rid of all his stuffed toys... moved his cot to the centre of the room.... excema isn't bothering him.... not too hot/cold... not hungry when I try and feed him. SIGH

Cat- No swine flu from your visit down South? Glad to hear bub is progressing well.

Sorry if I missed anyone. All good here- went to Dorothy show on Saturday morning and the 2 little ones loved it-Bridget was so excited and knew most of the words and the actions to the songs- sahe did not stop dancing the whole time- she was very cute!
Then we went to a friends for the night- so very wet and not much to do- 6 kids in a little house, going a little mad!

I am off to the gym- so better get moving!

HI everyone

Cordelia - Glad you had a great time. Loved your pics.
Tabby - Hope Katie is feeling better.
Cat - Glad bubs is doing well.

Us- Same old thing here. DD1 is still not well. Still has a sore throat & high temps. The full cold has come out now so she isnt a happy camper at the moment plus she has been complaining that she is really sore all over & has really sore legs. I was going to get her tested for glandular fever but not sure if there is really any point, nothing they can do for it. DD2 has had a temp today too & now has a rash all over her cheeks. There has been an outbreak of slap cheek at their school so knowing our luck at the moment its probably that lol. Seems like its never ending
Me... i'm ok, just tired from everyone being sick. Really looking forward to school holidays so i can catch up on some sleep. DD1 & 2 are going to my mums for a few days on Monday (if they are better). So that will be nice.

Hope everyone is feeling better soon :hugs:

3divas: How cute of B dancing the whole time!
I cant get Kate do dance she gets all embarrassed and tells us to go away lol

Shes way better, was only a head cold of a couple of days luckily! Shes just a bit snuffed up this morning but happy

not me though, this cold weather is killing me! 1st year its bothered my back/neck. Thinking its like arthritis as my shoulder joints hurt soooooo much its very painful and only deep heat helps... Hoping the end of working next week relieves it some :crying:

3Divas...good to hear you survived the confinement. I've got a stash of video's that will be coming out over the wet weekends. B sounds like she had a great time at Dorothy. DD1 was the same when we went to the Fairies - didn't stop dancing.
Cordelia...great to hear you enjoyed yoru holiday. Hoep D settles back into a good sleep routine soon

Us...it's wet and cold here, not much fun at all.

2snuff, Katie tells us to go away at any sign of her being centre of attention , like falling over/tripping and hurting self, caught dancing or singing lol
Shes very affectionate but if she hurts her self she demonstrates shes very much independant like me and doesnt need your sympathy or help..just " go away!" Try to cuddle when it happens and she pushes you away..unless its a really bad one then she will

hope your familys feeling better Tired :hugs:

morning everyone!

touch wood we're well on the way to TT! started yesterday (shipped daniel off to mums) and had 6 wees and 2 accidents... so far so good today. usually it's screaming and NOOO every time she's close to the toilet. so thank goodness for smarties!!! Funny tho - she is very private about it - wouldnt let dad put her undies on this morning and tells me to "get out" just before she wees.

unfortunately I ended up with gastro today so i hope a) i still have the energy to keep tabs on her and b) she doesn't get it ... that would be really poor timing. Some playgroup mums were talking about how their kids have been really sick and i'm like WTH ARE YOU HERE... sure enough, 2 days later.... time to bring out the dettol again. Can't believe it.

3divas - dorothy sounds excellent!

tired mummy - oh goodness.. i bet ou're hanging out for the holidays. you deserve a big long sleep.

Aw no Cordelia, do hope she manages to avoid it
and you recovery quickly from yours. :hugs:
Gosh there has been a lot of gastro around the last 3 years!
and yes, why are they there?!!! That angers me, my sil does that and is why last year we got everything off them!

Katie is the same with privacy, gets very embarrassed if your there waiting while she sits on the loo too lol
I get the "go away" for that too

well done with the TT, hope it continues..hmm I need something more than smarties, shes not got much of a sweet tooth..what to use??..\
was thinking..she loves her books so might try find a set of those little ones and one each time..gosh um that might get expensive if she takes a lot to TT lol ok scrub that

work in 20, deep heat does wonders this morning.. luckily

Rather than buy a new book for each TT attempt, have a special book that you only read while she's on the loo. This worked for us for a while. I found TJ would relax and wee soon after starting to read.

Cordelia...:hugs: how C doesn't get teh tummy bug. Revert to pull-ups if it happens. I describe them as special nickers. TJ hasn't worked out they are another form of nappy, LOL.

Well done girls on the TT- we used a combo of books and smarties for tting and in a matter of a few days Bridget did not need the smarties any more. I had a freind come over yesterday with her 2 yo twins and they all came to the toilet when Bridget went and were very interested in the process so they might want to give it a go too- it was quite funny.

Been busy here- work, and gym and kids- does not stop- looking forward to the holidays as I am beginning to get really tired.
Need to get my self back to school- I cam home to help with the kids but need to get back- talk soon:wave:

Tiredmummy - Hope your family is on the mend :hugs::hugs:

3divas - T1 was the same only a few days of smarties and didn’t need any more. He’s really good now doesn’t even tell me, he just goes. I have to check the potty every half hour just in case I need to empty it before other little fingers gets to it.

Sammy - How are you sweetie? Hope your family is great.

Mim -

Cat - Good to hear bub is doing well. Sorry to hear that boating wasn't your cup of tea.

Tabby - Think of the money. It always seems to come in handy.

Cordelia - Saw your holiday piccies on facebook. Looks like you all have a wonderful time. Glad the weather was nice also. Hope D gets into a lovely sleeping pattern for you.

Us – School holidays starts this arvo. If the girls get bored might send them off to mums:D. Was going to plan a trip to the snow these holidays but I’m so not organised so maybe late July or august. My parents are coming down tomorrow to babysit the kiddies while Dh and I head out for dinner and off to the comedy club for a laugh. We aren’t posted anywhere. :yelclap: we are staying in Brissy. T2 was 18months yesterday. my goodness she’s 18 months already!!!! T1 can have a good phone conversation with my parents now. He always wants to hop on and chat away. Mum can’t believe how clear his speech is. He’s definitely not a shy boy anymore.

Have a great weekend.

Us...TJ's been a shocker at night all week. Resorted to dosing her with Phenergon at 2.30, and still the little bugger didn't sleep properly until 3.
Another wet weekend ahead in Perth. We've got a family lunch on Sunday in Rockingham that I'm not looking forward to. The weather will be shocking to drive and we're only going to Chinese where it's been decided we'll have the set menu ( I hate set menu's, especially at Chinese restaruants). I don't even know if the kids will eat it.

Have a great weekend,

Strawberry- have a great night out at the comedy club- that will be fun. T1 sounds like a very clever little boy too talking and toileting well.

2snuff- predicting a wet one here too- hope the family lunch is ok.

Tabby- wow you really are doing a bit of work atm- but the $'s like everyone says are always the bonus- great to hear you will be getting a night out with dh too in a few weeks- sounds great.

All good here- have changed Bridgets room around today- she keeps climbing into the top drawer of her tall boy and am worried that it may fall outand Phoebe may be under it if it happened- so have eliminated that problem- looks nicer and a bit roomier now.
Wet w/e forecast here this w/e- dd1 is going to a sleep over party so she will be gone from 1m tomorrow til 3pm the following arvo- will be strange not to have her around.

Sounds like it's wet weather all around except for up here - fine & dry. I think winter is skipping us this year, still high twenties and meant to hit 30 tomorrow.

2snuff - very exciting about DD1's wobbly tooth. Thank goodness the second round of teething isn't as troublesome as the first!! (BTW, do you think that's TJ's problem with the recent rough nights?)

strawberry - yay for not having to move at the end of this year. Although I wouldn't have complained if you got a Townsville posting! Cameron likes to talk on the phone to his grandparents too - he lists to them all the things he remembers from our last visit. He likes answering the phone too but luckily it's always been family so far.

tabby - nice to have the night out to look forward to after the busy work schedule!

3divas - Hope Bridget likes her newly rearranged room! Have V8's up here soon and might have considered doing what you guys do and rent out our house for big$$'s for the week if it wasn't so close to DH heading off overseas.

tiredmummy - hope everyone is on the mend at your place

And a big hello to everyone else

Off to a 2nd bday party this arvo, it's a BYO bike party so Cameron should have a ball.

Strawberry - Yay for staying is brissy :yelclap:. Canrt believe T2 is already 18 months too... where oes the time go. Its hard to believe that Sierra is 2 1/2... feels like she was only born yesterday
2s'nuf - Yay for the wobbly tooth. DD1 two front bottom teeth are wobbly at the moment too only just though... yay. She is a bit late with the wobbly teeth. Her top two look like they are any day too as they are just starting to look too small for her mouth

Us - School holidays have started... :smiliedance: I'm sure i wont be so happy about that in a week or two though lol. Sierra still isn't well. She has had a high temp & runny nose & yesterday was really tired & half asleep all day. She slept 5 hrs in the afternoon. DD1 was really tired too... she fell asleep straight after school (see fb pics lol) which is really odd for her. She never ever falls asleep during the day & hasn't sine she was 3 lol. She must have been tired. She still isn't 100% & has a bit if a temp again today. So have to keep an eye on that. DD1 & 2 are going to my mums on monday for a few nights so really looking forward to the break & going to catch up on sleep whenever Sierra is asleep.

Katie had a head cold other day and now shes spot rash on her butt/inner thighs, back neck up to behind ears and her top chest area.
shes no fever and not bothered by it but sounds a bit like the cold has refreshed as shes croaky
she did throw up this morning which is not unusual for her if shes unwell

temp not up which was good too

We just nearly had Bridget hit by a car- man they are quick buggers. We were coming out of the video shop and walking to the car. Bridget was beside me I dont know why I was not holding her hand, but she was right there. I looked up to say hi to a lady I knew and within a second Bridget was at the kerb- ready to jump. Dh and I turned around and yelled out for her to stop, dh running towards her. He managed to grab her arm ans she jumped off the kerb- where a car come flying round the corner- it was soooo close!!!! What a bugger- but what an idiot I am not holding her hand????

kewlchic ... nice to 'see' you! Hope you are all doing well! Our babies are definitely toddlers now aren't they?

Tabby ... hope Katie is better tomorrow, if not I suggest going to your GP tomorrow.

3Divas ... that's scary! I watch Josh so closely when we're out, but I only have two hands so I have to rely on him standing still. Sometimes he does, sometimes he doesn't, but thankfully he hasn't run into traffic.

I need to go to bed now. I'm sick again - mild, but annoying! We took Josh to a wedding yesterday - challenging but fun. Photos on facebook. Josh tried to take a tonka digger home from creche at the gym on Friday. He's never done that before. Mum said the digger had to stay, but as the creche is inside only, they didn't actually want it (it was given as a gift), so the lady offered it to Josh. They are inseparable. It even came to church with us this morning and resulted in the first time he's lasted all the way through church without talking his head off and having to go out (we usually last 10 - 15 minutes) - he lasted 1 hour, 20 minutes! Very happy about that!

REALLY need to go to bed, I start work at 7:30am and dh is away most of the next 2 weeks :(

Morning everyone.. (3:13am morning!)

Daniel is having Rave 09 in his cot. I think the lightening is keeping him up and of course hsi stupid blind is stuck and i can't get it down. Joys! So thoght I'd catch you up.

measles - i had measles when I was pregnant with caitlin and i've been vaccinated!! was a warped measles mind. It definitely sounds like the doctor is in order anyway....

3divas - yikes that's terrifying. caitlin did the same the other day. I had daniel in one arm and a trolley in the other and pulled her so hard off the road in fright and yelled at her. And then this guy came over and said "everythign allright here" as if i was assaulting her. I was so shocked afterwards. hopefully bridget got a shock too.

kewlchic - hellooooooooooo! how are things going with you?? love to hear how yoru kids are going....

mim - thata's very nice of the lady with the truck!!! It must have been in the air coz DH and I were shocked at how long caitlin lasted. we figured it out it was because she must be sick. there was no creche so she just sat there with her nursery rhyme book! *mind you we had to go to the toilet 3 times).

toddlers going to the toiilet sucks - why would you give up just hvaing to change their nappy a few times a day!? beats me. Caitlin coudl stay in nappies for another 3 years and I'd be as happy as larry. only doing it because of peer pressure! teehee.

us - getting over gastro (had it twice this week) and launching into a heavy cold this week. Feelign really rundown - I think from having andrew's parents over and then the big trip and then coming back to so much work for playgroup. Definitely not volunteering next year - would rather spend my spare minutes doing my music or scrapbooking or reading or... taking up.... martial arts - now that would be beneficial!!

Mim...:hugs: hope you start to feel better soon
Kewlchic...great to hear from you again. Hoep all is well with you and the boys.
3Divas...a horrid fright for you. The little buggers can be so quick sometimes and take forever to do something at others.

Us...a busy weekend. DD1 lost her first tooth on Saturday and another became wobbly yesterday. TJ's developed a yucky cough recently.
:smiliedance:TJ told me 'wees on toilet' on Saturday. She'd done a poo, but she did manage to have a little wee on the loo. So :fingerscrossed: this means we're on the right track. We've been talking about only babies wee in their nappy, so when she got up Saturday morning and I went to change her, she denied having done wees in her nappy becuase only babies do that, LOL.

A yucky day here today.

Take care,
Lisa

Tabby – Glad Katie is on the mend.

2s’nuff – :yelclap:on dd1 tooth. C’s first tooth finally came out the other day and she’s 7. Couldn’t believe that it’s taken that long to come out.

Mim – Hope you get better real soon :hugs:

Cordelia – 3am start. Not fun at all. I had T2 playing with T1’s hi5 guitar at 2 am this morning. Quickly took it off her and said its still night time. Didn’t hear from her till almost 8 am.

Us – Not much is happening here. T1 is driving me nuts with his DS today. He's got the nintendo dogs in it and he's brought 2 puppies lol. He's named them bella and mack and he's constantly yelling their names so they can bark back . Totally funny. The 2 older girls are at my parents place for the week. T1 has finally refused to have a day sleep now, which suits me fine because I know he’ll go to bed at night without a problem. No more sipper cup at night when he goes to bed. He’s happily drinking a cup of milk before going to his bed. We pick up our new car tomorrow. DH can’t wait. Taking the 2 little ones to either movie world or dreamworld on Friday.
