A friend of mine has an entire dog, who she has pretty much ban from coming inside, as he lifts his leg all the time, if not watched.

She is sad about this due to the cold weather coming on, and the rain, he does have appropriate shelter and coats, however, she would prefer to be able to bring him in, and not have to sit with him every second.

If the screen door is not latched properly, he gets in and pees somewhere, and goes out again, he has made some awful marks in the tiles and so on,

is there any trick to stoping this??
Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks. :)

Unfortunately the obvious solution is the solution in this case - Desexing the dog is the answer.
Even then, it won't always entirely stop it if you have left the dog 'entire' for many years... but it will reduce it.

He is a show/breeder dog, so I dont think he will be having that done anytime soon.:p

does your freind clean with ammonia based products? dogs smell the ammonia, assume it's another dogs urine and try to mark their territory over it.

Yeah desexing at a late stage rarely works for the peeing thing anyway.

Can she spend some time retraining him to pee outside? She'd need to catch him before he does it and lead him out, heaps of praise n all that.
If she doesn't have the time to reinforce toilet training, I have no idea how she can stop it. :/

unfortunately being an unsterilised male this behaviour is very hard to stop as he is marking his territory, she could try sprays that are designed fort he garden such as get off the garden to spray around the areas he is weeing, may help might not otherwise not alot fo advice sorry
