I am 17 weeks into my second pregnancy. Last pregnancy I suffered headaches and sinus pain until about the middle of the second trimester. This time the headaches are incredible bad and are with me for hours every day or 2, and well, it's starting to get me really down. It's so hard to look after my 11 month old and try and enjoy my days when I feel like this. And it is now feeling pointless taking panadol, because they hardly do anything, and when they do work, they only work for 30 mins. Has any one else suffered from this, were the headaches a sympton of anything else, apart from hormones? It's depressing the hell out of me, because I can't enjoy myself, I feel like I am always complaining, my sex life has stopped al most completely ( which I feel bad for my husband, because "I have a headache" is sounding a bit old now, although he is very understanding) Help, anyone? Is this normal?

I also suffered from BAD headaches through my first 4 pregnancies. So I feel for you!!! Nothing worked for me especially in my 4th. Everything got on top of me, it was shocking. Each visit to the OB I would ask what else I could try but had no luck. I was living in a pigsty and was barely able to do the necessaties each day:banghead: I was like that till 20 weeks, then one day I woke up and it was over. :smiliedance: :smiliedance:I guess you just have to tough it out:(

I cannot believe you went through with a fifth!! I want 3-4 , but the way I am feeling, I may just settle for 2! It's comforting to know that I am not the only one. And now I actually have a reason to pay some one to do my ironing (hehe). Thanks Im 17 weeks so only another month or so of agony.

I was not expecting the 5th!!! But luckily I didn't suffer from headaches or any other problems except fatigue early on and insomnia at the end. If you can afford a housekepper to come in once a week ( I've heard it's only about $50 for a couple of hours) I would go for it!! I wish I had thought about that at the time:banghead:

Hi Sara
I am 19 weeks now and have been suffering those headaches since about 15 weeks.
I have found that drinking more water has helped. I've also taken to having a berroca 1st thing in the morning which as been a big help.
I wake up with these headaches almost every morning, its a real downer to start the day so I know where you are coming from.
The reason of these headaches according to my OB is the increase in blood flow due to the pregnancy. I've suffered the same problem with all my pregnanacies.
Hope this helps
Kirsten
I had the same thing ... the blasted headaches began just as the morning sickness was easing off. It frustrated me to tears on oh so many occasions ...
Panadeine. Take panadeine. The effects are slightly longer lasting than panadol.
I also found that cool showers really helped - they helped contract the blood vessels somewhat. In stark contrast, a heat pack to the back of the neck helped sometimes when the cool shower didn't. Shoulder, neck and head massages also eased the pain.
Ultimately, though, it was time. By around the 20th week, things got better.
Of course, that's when the sciatica pain began ... :banghead:

Thanks, hubby has just gone to get me some panadeine, will call and add berocca to the request list! If I drink any more water than I already am, I think I will have to take my doona and sleep in the bathroom! I wake up with the urgent need, only to release a trickle, this process is occuring every 1-2 hours. sorry if thats tmi! I am just remebering all of this from the last pregnancy, you really do forget it all. Thanks heaps I will post in a day to let you know. And when we are down about it, it's hard to think of it at the time, but they are worth every pain and niggle.

Thanks beany, it's funny isn' it, no actual relief, but we are replacing one sympton with another. I thought the MS was bad but this is just painfully annoying and depressing, only another month til replacement symptom, yay...

Oh Beany your post made me laugh:laughing:
Why do we put ourselves through this.
Just double check but I have always been told not to take Panedine whilst pregnant due to the codine content.
Something else I have realised too is that I have trouble sleeping and if I have a really short nights sleep my headaches are even worse.
:hugs: to us all suffering:banghead:

regarding the panadine I was told it's ok. Steer clear of asprin as it is a cell seperater and ibuprofin. I was perscribed panadine forte for my severe back by OB

Thanks for that mumof5
Come to think of it I remember being allowed to take panadine forte when I had a severe migraine during my 1st pregnancy.
 all the do's and don'ts are bamboozling me

yeah, I like that. It's a positive distraction. :D
Kirstlea: Yeah, the headaches get worse if you don't get enough sleep. But then again, I also found that the sodding things pound away merrily if I get too much sleep ... you just can't win. Grimace and bear it. And kick your partner in the shins.
Regarding the codeine in the panadeine issue - it's fine to take during pregnancy. Would highly recommend you don't take it every day though ... otherwise you'll look like this ---> :o
(it has a constipating effect ... :D )
Sara: it's okay really, I can barely notice the sciatica now ... the pain from the pulled and abused pubic ligament drowns the sciatica out a treat!
This baby had better be worth it ...
