Hello Gladstone Mummys,

My family and I are moving to Gladstone as soon as have sold our house in Dunedin, NZ.( hopefully it wont take too long)
We cant wait.. I love the warmer weather. I did live in Hervey Bay for 5 yrs then Sydney for 3 be4 returning to NZ where I married my wonderful hubby and we have a gorgeous almost 3 year old boy Jaxon. We have been ttc number 2 but with no luck after a year.
Would love to chat to some Mummys in Gladstone and find out what the town offers for families. Is there many playgroups, social groups or Pram walking groups? Look forward to hearing all about it:) I do have an Aunty and Uncle there but they have no children so not much help in that department:):)

Hi Ladies,

We will have to have a meet up once you guys get here.

I am Catherine mum of 3 crazy boys, Blaze aged 5, Bailey 4 and Talon almost 10 months.

Gladstone is a great place to bring up families, there are a few playgroups around I go to Squeels on Wheels Playgroup run out of the Baptist Church , i go to the Friday group but there is also a Tuesday and Thursday group, most of the churches have playgroups plus i think there is a few other ones. Best bet would be to go to Playgroup Australia website.

There is also the Kubby House (kids playcentre) which the kids love to run around in and many parks.

There is a Gladstone Mummies group on Facebook that run pram walking groups i am sure, if you are on there might be worth checking it out.

Miriam Vale is about 40 minutes? south of Gladstone.

Anyway if you need to know anything feel free to ask, i grew up in Boyne Island (20 minutes from here) but done my high schooling in Gladstone

:wave:Awesum! Thanks for the info. Would definately love to meet up when we get there.
I cant wait to get over there and have a better lifestyle. Its too cold here to do anything. Miss my BBqs, beach, etc. All the fun stuff. Jaxon attends Creche one full day a week here so hoping when we arrive he can continue. What are the waiting lists like? Sometimes it can take up to a year here. Ridiculous.
Please house sell soon. :smiliedance:I cant wait to get over there.
What are good areas to live in? My Aunty tells me to keep away from Barney Point, and Toolah?? Sorry if spelling is wrong.
Also is it true that cats have Cufews oops spelling again? We are bring two cats over with us.. Just cant part with them. They are a part of our family. ANway catch up again soon

Barney Point is a bit like mosquito paradise lol. Its a nice area other wise. I'm not sure about Toolooa but DH has no problems checking out houses around there and I trust his opinion.

I like Kin Kora and Clinton. Glen Eden is nice but we won't be living out there for personal reasons. Sun Valley's also very nice.

When we were In Boyne there were no waiting lists but that was about 3 years ago. Could be different now.

And yep the cats have to be in of a night time. And a max of 2 cats per household.

We live in Emmadale and we love it here, yeah Barney Point and Toolooa used to be the stay away points, but Barney Point is slowly picking up with lovely beach and things now.

My middle son goes to a ABC centre around the corner from us 2 days a week and it has vacancy's in there kindy and pre school room but the other rooms are booked out, i think that is fairly standed in almost all the daycares.

Hi Rach ?,

Welcome to Gladstone, i have 3 boys Blaze almost 6, Bailey 4.5 and Talon just turned 1. Would love to catch up for a coffee and a chat, i am free most mondays and Thursdays. I take Bailey and Talon to squeels and wheels playgroup at the Baptist church in Gladstone, they have a tuesday, thursday and friday group. I have been attending the Friday's playgroup for 4 years. A few of the churches run playgroups.

My kids Blaze before he started school and Bailey currently have been going to ABC Beak Street for a couple of years and they are great, but there are a few different ABC centres and other daycare centres around, but don't know much about them, i heard Port City Kids are pretty good over the road from KFC.

Hi! I'm Nara and I've got 3 kids. Two boys 9 and 8yrs old and my daughter is 4 in November. I think it depends on who you talk to about where you will want to live, especially considering I live in Barney Point and love it :D.

Cats do have curfews, they're not allowed outside after dark or before sunrise.

It would be great to meet you guys:yes:
