View Full Version : Warning about journalists on this forum

Hi all,
I just wanted to post a warning about journalists.
It has been made apparent that journalists are reading this forum, and looking for potential stories about our unique pregnancies.
I was personally approached my Mark Schliebs of news.com.au to answer some questions. I was initially open to considering contributing to the story, however I eventually declined.
Mark then informed me that the were going to run the story anyway, using comments that I had made from this forum.
In defeat, I finally asked for the courtesy of viewing the story before it was published online. I was declined this opportunity.
This practice is no doubt legal, given that my comments were posted online in a public forum. However, let this serve as a warning to all of you to just be careful about how much you say, especially if you wouldn't want that broadcast to the world without your consent.

Bubhub has always been a public forum. Everyone needs to remember that before posting.
Sorry you are feeling like you have been deceived.
I have forwarded your post to the Admin to see if they can do anything.
Whilst BH is a public forum, the contents are copyright to the owners as far as I am aware.

It's a public forum and I'm guessing from your name you have an interesting back story, so I can't say I'm surprised. Just so you know, however, there are plenty of journalists here who would not use your story if you had asked them not to

It's a condition of using BH that all content is copyright, and that you won't profit commercially from using it.
At the end of the day- should they run the story without naming their source, they don't have much credibility. As far as the public knows, they could have made the whole thing up.

I just read your story on news.com.au. He definitely went ahead with it.

this is good to know.. I hope that journalist gets what he deserves then  how low can you go.
But then again, they were there snapping pics at my partners' workmates' funeral last week :no: (the local media here- long story- won't go into that here for obvious reasons!)
eta. found the article.. http://www.news.com.au/story/0,27574,25570658-2,00.html

I think that this is disgusting - what the reporter is doing. I think you should be very proud of yourself for wanting to be a father, and that your baby is very lucky to have such a loving dad. From what i can tell, you are going to be a very loving father, and have the strong support of your family around, which is all anyone can ask for in a parent.

How rude !!!
Yes , while it is a public forum i don't believe anyone would particularly like our comments to be used in a news story without our consent.
I am sorry this happened to you.:hugs:

I don't know what (if anything) the admins can do. But if there is anything, they are welcome to contact me direct for any more info :)

wow thats dodgy!
I personally think that a lot of news shows are trawling forums to see what stories they can do.
Like the vaxxing and the circumcising stories on Sunday. Next it will be FF vs BF soon

Sounds like bloody lazy "journalism" to me, but i am not at all surprised..bubhub has attracted others with limited integrity before .
 I am shocked! What a trashy piece of journalism.
I am so excited you are going to be a Daddy! How wonderful and exciting. I think it is a beautiful story ... parenthood is an amazing journey. Your sister is a gorgeous girl to be doing this for you and your bubba.

Yes ,it is a public forum that why I'm careful about useing DP name and telling our story.
:hugs:What a horrible thing to do to you.
Congrats on your pregnancy. No matter what the news story says. You have every right to be a Father as any man does. There are plenty of females out there that become Single Mums By Choice. You being Male doesn't take away your right to become a Father and who are they to say what a normal family is. What a horrible news story.

I wouldve thought the same as above !
What a low act using this as a way of getting a story ... You would think with their degrees etc that they would have a better way of forming a story
Good luck for the next 34wks :flowerz:
sigh .. sometimes you just cant win ... seriously .. imo - if you want to be a GOOD parent .. I dont care what sex, colour, race, religion you are - there are too many abused kids in what the govt/ church consider to be 'normal' families (and yes.. from the outside the families ARE normal ... sigh) ..
I wish you all the luck with the pregnancy, and I hope that fatherhood is all that you can possibly wish for.
Please check your PMs :)

:yelclap:
thankyou for that from me, cause this is wrong and terribly rude and intrusive. people come on here to talk about it with people in similar situations and try to find someone else the same for support, not to be exploited for a journalists betterment! :shame:

That isnt right that they think they can do that. Im happy to hear you are going to be a dad. Im 31 and hoping to find someone to carry my child. I've always yearned for this and I feel it is the right time to try. I'd love to hear more from you. I do live in QLD also.
