**March Mums JUNE chat thread**
Oh my, where is the time going?
ugh i'm having a rough day. my stomach has been giving me grief (i've had ongoing problems since forever but has been particularly bad since pregnancy, some of you may remember). anyway, i've been in agony this week. have no idea what is wrong, doctor is shrugging her shoulders, blah. so over it, couldn't sleep last night because i was in pain so you can imagine how i'm feeling today. wah wah.
and i did a quick check of the 'new posts' on bubhub and everyone seems to be attacking and judging and it's raining here in brisbane too. OH but the kids are being good at least.
okay, i feel a little better just having a complain.
EFB, the happy baby ones were one of the successful ones for J at the start too. the hospitals use them. the thin bottles are supposed to help with wind to. we changed him to mam, cause we changed to the thinker formula, but the next best choice is happy baby:thumbsup: (ans $4 for 2 bottles, can you go wrong!) oh, and the variable teat is great eh! just tighten or loosen!
im going to let J lead the way with solids, but i thnk cause he's a big boy (like J), so i think he will prob be starting around 4 months. we'll see when he wants it, lol.
oh, that would be great if you could have a look for the teats for me!
oh, ah, oldest babies - girls only was first, then tattoo mummy, im pretty sure Kar has one of the oldest that actually frequents the forum though.
oh, i have a tat on my foot, covers the top, if you go into my profile page, into the photo album, you can have a squize.
bongos, :hugs: for you too! its pretty tedious at that hour of the morning...
tiff, great to see you looking up hun, maybe just take it easy on the clucky centre sweets, get yourself sorted and enjoy em for a while ;-)
she's starting to do some good sleeps!
kaz, most of those posts are me rambling, feel free to skip LOL i hope dps first day is great!!! oh, im glad to hear things are going well with C's sleeping and feeding, and your sanity hehe.
nomadic, thankyou so much for going out of your way to look, i appreciate it so much (espcially with such a busy schedule!!)
tee, im happy to hear about your wah wah, i think alot of doctors are too overworked, so they dont go to the effort to hear and think about a solution, it sucks really, good money down the drain for no answers!
newme, hope dh got home safe and sound!!
ASU-
ok, we gave him no zantac yesterday, and i must say, i think he was much happier for it:confused: there are alot of side effects to it, and one is tummy pain, which i think has been his problem.
il wean him, if his reflux flairs, i'l ask my gp for a script of losec, she down played the reflux, so i might even have to go to the other gp (hehe dr.nice, thought that might get a laugh!) he was very understanding when i took j to him at 2 weeks old.
so, sleeping, last night he fell asleep in arms at 9.10, so i said to dh, lets wrap and see how we go, we did a dream feed at 11.30, then he slept till 4.20, pretty much stayed asleep, woke a little, but went back to sleep within 5 mins with rocking, then woke at 7.15, so pretty much he slept from 9.10-7.15, with 2 feeds. so im wondering if no zantac has made things better??? i dont know!
BUT i went to bed at 9.30, read, visualised, everything, and i could NOT sleep, got to 11.30, nothing, and finally went to sleep about 12.30, i was so angry, frustrated, i could have got from 10-4.20, but cause of my stupid insomnia, i couldnt:( so dh got annoyed cause i hdnt slept (cause its so by choice!) ba, so that turned into a small disagreement:hair:
just rang the doctors clinic, i cant get into my doctor till the end of july! and the next best doc end of june!!!
i've left a message for her to ask if i can get a script for losec... see how we go, she'll prob shrug me off:rolleyes:
feeling a bit better today, hopefully J will too!
thanks for the new thread tommo
tee - its always good to have a vent, it always makes me feel better. :hugs: That's not good that you're still not well in the belly :( DP has suffered with a bad belly all his life (which it got extremely worse when he contracted q-fever from working in a dirty abbatoir in our home town) Doctors have never been able to figure it out with him either and he's had every darned test under the sun. He did a detox program for a month which really seemed to flush his system out and then slowly but surely we could rule out foods that upset him. Beer and greasy foods and cheese seem to be the worst. I feel for him coz he has to get up for work half an hour earlier than he should coz he ends up going to the loo 2 or 3 times every morning poor bugger, and all I can hear is moaning and groaning from the pain when he ate something he shouldn't of the day before :(
tommo - i always read along to your posts. I just feel bad sometimes coz I never can think of anything helpful to say :o boo to the insomnia, that must be really frustrating. I used to have problems sleeping when I was working alot and couldn't switch off my brain, I ended up getting some natual sleeping caspules from the chemist. You can get it over the counter, it doesn't make you overly drowsy so its ok if you need to get up for bubba, but it just seemed to really relax all the tension and I found I got to sleep easier.

Holy cow June already, little Lucius is 12 weeks this week man the time has flown. I thought I'd be back to work by now but I just don't feel ready, its hard enough to amuse my 3yo when Lucius is unsettled and feeds alot. I think to be honest I just love being with my boys and don't want to work:laughing:
Tee - sorry to hear you have a bad belly, have you had tests? pregnancy can trigger all sorts of stuff I would ask for an ultra sound or scan. I hope your feeling better today your body has been through alot since your bubba.
Tommo - Losec is stronger which is why they try zantac first, once you start solids its so much easier with the reflux. Infact some people suggest starting solids early maybe ask your doc or ECHN when you can start solids. I am glad J is sleeping for you. As for insomnia its hard to switch off sometimes especially when your not used to being able to I use emergency essence like a bushflower remedy if I need it.
Hope you catch up on sleep today/tonight

AFM - well on the cousin/sister front she found her brother and now we are just wiating for her/our father to be located. Weare really the only 2 people in the family with the same nose and there are lots of other clues, eventually we will get a dna test but we are waiting for the rest of her info to pan out.
I am still struggeling with DH depression and lack of ability to be here when he is here...I have started exercising with a group called pram pushers and feeling better for it. I wan to loose weight and get fit its just hard to get motivated. I also found out my stomach muscles are still seoerated 2 fingers width not good the doctor and OB didn;t pick it up!
Well I am off to clean the pestman was here today and I have to clean up after him
what happened jeca? is everything alright???
tommo - i was on zantac when i was pregnant and i had pretty severe stomach pain as a side effect and took myself off it. i mean, i know i'm not a baby but trust me, my digestive system is pretty much the same as a newborn's, lol. so i wouldn't be surprised ... i haven't put DD on zantac for that very reason, she's so much like me that i'd presume she'd have the same reaction. sorry you had a bad sleep. i have sleep issues like that on occasion, so i totally feel you. hope you get a better night tonight :hugs:
karice - my dad got q fever from an abatoir when he was younger, thumbs down! he's got something called CFS (chronic fatigue syndrome) and they think the q fever *may* have started it. your DP sounds like me a little. i've done elimination diets and all sorts, i've had problems since i was born. mum said i used to have reflux so bad that i could hit the wall from six feet away ... both ends. haha. i can't eat dairy or gluten, or caffeine or alcohol - the list goes on, but i still have problems. ah well. but man, i so sympathise with your DP - i have those mornings too, where i've eaten something i shouldn't have, it's horrid!
hi LIH and Jeca :)
---
well, i shouldn't have spoken so soon. DD was merrily playing away on the floor, coo'ing and ahh'ing - happy as a lamb for over an hour, DS had been playing with his toys, came along and accidentally dropped one on DD's head - it alarmed her more than anything. she started crying, hasn't stopped - and that was almost 2 hours ago. sigh. then i went to change her nappy and realised we had none left so had to wrap her in a towel as a make-do nappy so i could go by some, with her screaming still and DS had a tantrum at the checkout over a kinder surprise (omfg i swear i want to kill the marketing people who put sweets on the registers). he's still having a tantrum too.
I know, i'm incredibly upbeat today  i did manage to make pancakes though. which DS refused to eat. seriously, who the hell doesn't like pancakes! DS that's who!

Tee - oh man i hear you re the kinder surprise and all confectionery strategically placed!!! I had a chuckle sounds like my day on Thursday and I had no car but I do have some cloth nappies at home luckily. Ds actually was playing with Lego and loves to destroy his buildings and Lego accidentally flew and hit Lucius in the face. Man I have never herd him cry like that and either has Sebastian needless to say he tries to be very careful of his borther now.
you've just reminded me of what I was going to say earlier but I forgot! This last week since we've (almost) nutted out Cady's sleeping and feeding probs I swear her development has just taken off. She's been trying to put toys to her mouth for a few weeks but this last week she's started pushing buttons on toys coz she's figured out that music starts to play, she's grabbing onto toys and I pull the other end that makes them vibrate, she's figured out that my hair is a fun toy also, she really grips hard and its so funny coz she tries to put my hair in her mouth and gets tickled on the face which she cracks up at. We've had so much fun discovering toys! Oh and she LOVES that spin mat I bought last week. You put them on their tummy on the little tummy seat and they use their arms to spin themselves around to find different toys on the mat. Its so funny when she comes around to the mirror and sees herself, she goes nuts
jeca, dont never mind us, whats going on???:hugs:
kaz, dont worry, there are plenty of people on here that have porblems that i cant help with either, so i dont mind;) what was the name of the capsules?
living in hope, i saw that tj was having alot more luck with em on the farax. id like to hold out till 4 months, we'll see how all that pans out! (best laid plans, ect ect, lol) i ordered some of that oil that tee and ts had been talking about, 'baby hush', it turned up this morning, i think il try it for me too, lol.
il have a look for the bushflower one, i just cant switch off, it so irritating. and the one night J actually sleeps, i cant:dizzy:
im still 1 finger width apart on the tummy, 2 is a bit concerning for you thogh, dissappointing they didnt pick up on it!
dh's depression would be very hard to cope
tee, ive been thinking its tummy pain for the past week, had another look at the zantac side effects, and that was number one, agh, weighing up the pros and cons, i think there are more cons with it at the moment, i was wondering whether to get some liquid mylanta, maybe try that, something a bit weaker, maybe he's improving?
girls that have had reflux experience, does the zantac wear off quickly, or over a few days? J hasnt had any since 10.30am sat, he isnt throwing up, and seems to not be refluxing too much, would it have worn off by now? or still be in effect, maybe his reflux has improved in the past month and a half?:fingerscrossed:

Hi everybody!
It's been a long time but I do check the thread every so often - :hugs: to everyone going through reflux issues.
My new little one is 16 weeks this Friday and she's doing great - you wouldn't even know she was almost 4 weeks early. Last week she measured 6kg and 62 cm long with a whopping 44cm head circumference.
I've been looking for work and so far it looks like I'm only getting offers from Paris or Boston - so we might have a move on our hands soon - hopefully we'll know by the end of the week.
Looks like me and my girls are coming down with a cold - hopefully it doesn't last long.
I'm finally starting to drop some of my pregnancy weight - it took some time to start to come off but hopefully keeps going now - breastfeeding always keeps the pounds on me..
Hope everyone has a super night.
Hi everyone, have been reading along but geez there was a lot of chat over the weekend!
Not too much new from us. I am starting to organise Ella's christening which is going to be a pretty big (and expensive!) affair. We are hoping to limit it to 100 people but DS' was about 150. I am trying to think of a pretty theme. I have found some things I like but they are quite expensive. I think I'll go with little rag doll decorations I found on the net (on my invitations and cake etc).. yes Greek christenings are like weddings!
Ella is 12 weeks tomorrow and Michael was sleeping through at 12 weeks. Ella is nowhere near it! I have started doing a dream feed but I don't know if it;s any good. I know it means I only get up once at night but I still feel I get less sleep. I am exhausted. She will feed at about 6 pm, 10 pm, 3.00 am and 6.00 am. Before I started the dream feed I was doing 6 pm, midnight, 3 am, 6 am. Not sure what's better cause I hate waiting up to feed her until 10.00 pm. Michael at this stage was doing 5 pm, 8.30 pm and the asleep through to morning. I was so lucky and didn't know it!
there is a great post in the jan mums june thread- its the second post and its well worth a look if you get a chance- i clicked in there by mistake.

Boo Baby Whisperer on tommorrow!
OMFG!
i called yesterday to see if i could even just get a doctor to call me re josh, and his reflux, ect. no call.
just called then, asking, can i please get into se ANYONE, no, we're booked out,
what? there is no doctor available?
no, we're booked out for the day.
oh, i have a 9 week old, reducing feeds, reacting badly with mediaction, ect ect, i really need to see someone, ive put it off for a week, waiting, testing, and he really does need to be seen.
ok then, can you call nurses on call?
at this point im getting annoyed, i cant see the point, they are not going to tell me anything i donot already know.
well can you call them, and they can assess to see if he NEEDS to see someone today....
okthen, can i make a n appointment for tommorow if your booked today?
no, you'll have to ring at 8am to secure an appt.
well i would have called this morning, but he finally went to sleep at 7.30, so funnily enough, I WENT TO BED! can i just make an appt with someone for tommorrow? (at this point i start crying,WTF, why the f*** cant i just make a bl00dy appt to see someone!)
hang on, il put you on hold, -can you come up and wait?
yes, i can.
come up in about half an hour then.
im so peeved right now, sitting here balling, cause the stupid receptionists wont let me see a doctor for a baby who isnt sleeping, who isnt feeding, who IS screaming for alot of his awake time:crying::hair::thumbsdown:
BTW, someone asked whose babe was first, tash is right i think, F is one of the earliest at 24 Feb.
Kaz, spin mat sounds fun. wouldn't mind one myself.
EFB - i think when they start taking interest in your food it is getting close, my friend's baby started drooling and staring every time he saw her eating at about 14 wks. He was a big boy too.
Fio - that is very very funny.
Kimberlee - great to hear from you, Paris doesn't sound too bad ;)
Tee, hope you are feeling better today. You are a wonder woman for dealing with everything you do with good humour, i would have taken to my bed by now!
LIH and Tee hope bubs got over their frights!! So far F is pretty good at not going into a fit over things like that, he just does it for absolutely no apparent reason!
Tash - how is J's tum today?
AFU
Well, I think F is getting ready to roll. Got some great action shots yesterday of him pushing off the cushion from tummy time, rolling sideways, ending up on his back looking stunned. He has been starting to make rolling motions for a couple of weeks when lying on his back (swinging his knees and hips side to side while holding them up in the air) so don't think we are far away. He grabs the legs of toys on his playmat frame and shoves them in his mouth, but he puts everything in his mouth!
Tash :hugs: that answers my question. Go and camp out with J screaming and I think you will get a doctor sooner rather than later.
LIH - it's terrible how much of a fright they get, isn't it?! ds is so careful too but he's so berloody clumsy! he elbowed me in the crotch this morning, thanks for that buddy!
karice - wow your bub sounds so advanced! how exctiting :D i like the sound of that spin mat.
tash - i agree with kar, sitting there with a crying bub will surely get you seen fast! that's terrible about the service though, gah, obviously the receptionist doesn't have kids ;)
kimberlee - great to hear from you! hope you don't get the cold, or don't get it too bad. it's certainly going around.
mks - i keep expecting the milestones etc with dd to be similar to ds's but they're such different babies! i can't believe how alert dd is compared to ds, he used to just sit there like a blob, hehehe. 6 pm, 10 pm, 3.00 am and 6.00 am is what dd feeds at still!
fio - that post was funny, hehehe.
hi there emotionalfirstbub
kar - aww F sounds adorable. dd isn't making many moves towards rolling over or anything yet. i can't wait though! i'm really looking forward to crawling, i think crawling is so adorable.
------------
as for me, my day only got worse yesterday  i got a migraine and could hardly see/move. i haven't had one in so long and usually dp is home so i can do the usual - take painkillers, lie in bed with a heat pack but with dd and ds having tantrums all afternoon- i couldn't! omg it was intense. i also had to take one of my foster kittens to his new owner at 7pm! and dd wouldn't settle so i drove all the way to the southside so my parents could watch the kids while i dealt with the kitten ALL WITH A MIGRAINE. hahahah.
OH and not only that but ds had put my phone charger in the mop bucket and my home phone wouldn't work so i couldn't get in contact with dp to get him to come home early, or with the new kitten owner to delay the drop-off.
and now AF has come charging back into my life. well, i'm not bleeding heavily or anything but my god, the pain! so i've been in bed this morning, zonked on nurofen plus and wanting to eat my weight's worth of chocolate.
:smiliedance:
so got up there, there was only like 3 ppl in the waiting room!
(could be cause my usual doc isnt in on tue, she's the busiest of all!)
so i had no clue who i was going to get, i thought, great, il prob get a med student that cant speak english (no offence, they all have to t=do country residencies for the studies, so we always have students, very rarely doctors!)
who comes out (after only 5 mins i mite add!) dr.nice, the next best option from my normal doc (well prob better, he specialises in pead's, surgery)he was who i saw at 2weeks old, who got us the u/s to check for pyloric stynosis, and prescribed zantac, he was very understanding of how hard a reflux baby is.
sooooo, he was astonished that i could tell him all of J's stats off the top of my head (weight gain, percentiles, feeds, sleep, on it goes), well thats my job now, so i know it, and i like to know where he is at with all the troubles we've had. he checked for hernias, just in case, all good, he's more than happy with his weught gain.
we gave j zantac last night and this morning, definately worse off it. so he's said to keep him on it, altered the dose, and reveiw in a week or 2. he's keen on starting solids at 4-5 months for sure.
he was very supportive, and understood why i saw the urgency (reduced feeds, more vomiting - dehydration), then he asked about my partner, hwo i said works 6-7 days, long hours, needs his sleep (cant afford for him to f*** up under a hundred tonne excavator can we?), so he can see we're doing it pretty tough at the moment, it was nice not to be fobbed off, he said ' a babys hard work, but a baby with bad reflux, well, times it by a 150, you get the worst of everything, and we'll add in your hubby working as he is, you're doing remarkably well!'
well its nice to know someone thinks so, know one knows just how hard it is (IRL).
everyones just like, oh yeah, its tough, bla bla bla, :dizzy: gosh im a sad sack eh.... soz for the downer girls!!
oh, j wriggles and all, but i dont think he's near rolling. id looked at that tummy mat, but i dont think hed go well on it with he's reflux and all, i can just picture him spining around, with spew coming out of his mouth, going all the way round the mat, haha. he is interacting with his toys though, about a week ago, he figured out, if i hit that it makes noise, he grabbed hold of one last night and was shaking it around, it was pretty funny. thats on his play mat.
ok, he's cracking it, AGAIN< be back in a bit.

hey tommo i can honestly say i know how hard it is, and if you are not curled up in a little ball in the corner rocking backwards and forwards then i think you are doing awesomely. so i take it the little man was negative for the pyloric. wow what does zantac do em is on losec for hers and i think all it does is cut down the amount of stomach acid her body produces. i pretty sure you are on my face book i am on her most days so if you ever want to talk just buzz me on there or you can pm me and ill give you my number just so you can have some well verbal support as you dont live near me otherwise i could support you by assisting. but you are strong and it is REALLY hard having a sick bub especially with reflux. em will be starting solids as soon as she can it just makes her constipated at the moment but she isnt 4 months yet.
be strong chicky and just think he wont be like this forever.:hugs::babydust2:

hey Kar just wanted to make a small post to you to say hugs :hugs::hugs:and that yes we did choose to have bubs but no one ever choses for them to be sick. so dont worry what others say you just cope the best way you know how and some days will suck more than other but when you do have one of those days we are here and you are more than welcome to message me as an understanding ear.;)
mks - how funny, we do 6pm and then it can change from 10om to mignight depending on how well Cady sleeps, then 3am and 6am again!!! I used to wait up for her but now I just cruise on to bed to catch some zzzz while I can. You just never know with this munchkin, sometimes she'll sleep like an angel and sometimes she'll fight me like a little

Hey Ladies
Have been reading along the past few days but still working on my study stuff for another week and a half so not much time for posting! Can't wait to be done!
Everything going quite well for us at the moment. Acutally have done everything the opposite to what I said I would last time I posted. Went and bought a miracle blanket (AKA straight jacket) to give swaddling one last try for daytime sleeps. I feel awful when I put little Lily in it because she can't move... but then I pop her in her hammock and bounce for a little bit and... she sleeps! Have got at least 3 daytime sleeps each day I've tried it between 40 mins and 2hrs long with no holding. She's still in her cot at night in her sleeping bag no swaddle and sleeps fine. Had been putting her to bed bout 9:30 at night and she was waking 4 and then 7. Changed her bedtime over the last couple days to 7:30 with her last feed starting at 7. Introduced a dreamfeed of EBM in a bottle (can't get her to dreamfeed from my boobs...) at 10:30/11:00 pm which seems to have her sleeping through til about 6. I then wake her up bout 7:30 to start the day with a top up feed + a full tummy. Seems to be going about 3 hrly still for feeds. She had her injections today though so we'll see whether that screws everything up! But we're pretty happy with how it's going. She seems to really associate her cot with night time sleep so still seems to be happy there for now even though we do something different in the day.
DH has the day off today and has headed off to the shops with Lily this afternoon for some daddy daughter time :yelclap: so I can work on my assignment. He was keen to see whether he can manage an outing with her all by himself  LOL. He rung me and said... can you hear Lily? I said NO why? Because she's asleep HA HA. He's so proud of himself
Can't remember all the things I've read but...
Karice - Can't wait til Lily's as far along development-wise as Cady. Will be such good fun!
TJ - You sound so happy!!! :smiliedance: Makes me smile to read your posts.
Tommo - hope little one'e reflux settles down I know I don't really know what you're going through but :hugs: just the same.
Talk to you all later
Brooke
ok, so my normal doc called me from her office (the one thats an hour away, she practices across the country side!)
she was lovely, she also thinks we should give losec a try (which dr.nice didnt, he wanted a reveiw in 2 weeks, then decide)
so she's doing a script, il pick it up tommorow, and see how we go. she is such a caring doctor, we're lucky to have her down here.

well i would just like to say that i am proud of myself i managed to do a 5.6km walk today mind you the hill at the end just about killed me but i want my body back so i try to walk as much as i can.
tommo hope the losec workes for you like it has worked for me as a hint though you have to disolve a tablet in water if you can while they are drinking break there sucktion in the side of there mouth and squirt it in while there bottle is in there mouth or your boob if you breast feeding they hate it straight taste like shyt as you could imagine and yeah you may find another way that suits you better but just a handy tip.
also what are the teats you are looking for tommo??????
EFB emily went through that stage was so hard for dh lasted about a week or 2 and he got quite down so i just assisted in him doing things and she seemed to kinda be ok with that i used to get him to hold her and i would hold the bottle and then without her noticing put the bottle in his hands.
newmumofbub - they are so cheecky with that how one week they dont want a bar of it then the next week they want it. glad you are getting some sleeps happening through the day but also not every bub does day sleeps some are happy to be up pretty much all day. but i dont know what your bub is like during the day with tiredness so only you will know. i am glad i have made you smile i am just happy to show people that even though it may not seem like it at the time there is light at the end of the tunnel.
AFU have a little gloat moment our little emily is 3 months old tommorow :( but we just gave her nuddy tummy time adn she has worked out how to pull her legs up and in adn pull her arm in and can lift herself up onto her legs and forarm and push herself forward cant lift her head yet but we can work on that i am sooooooo proud of her was getting a little worried about her progress but i am laughing a little cos my aunty her little man is 3 months older than emily and can only roll everywhere so she is further along than him yay hehehe mean i know she buys him everything but nothing that helps him learn what he needs to or to stregthen his muscles. but she wont listen to me cos she has been a mum for 6 months longer than i have. anywho yay for emmy going to get her weighed tommorow just to see how much she has grown oh and yeah another exciting thing em has pooped twice today first time ever.
well anyway enough about my excitment sorry i didnt do more personals i do read all of the posts as i get ored during the day and like to keep on top of the post as one day i check it and there is one new post and the next day there is 30. well anyway thinking of you all
Morning Girls,
mymymy it has been quiet in here!
tj - yay!!! Thats great about Emily! Good stuff. It's funny how they all do different things at different times, buts its mighty fun swapping stories :D
EFB - I hope DH doesn't take it to heart, I'd say its just coz you're and have been bubs entire world for 40 or so weeks and you're his main care-giver 24/7. As far as bub is concerned, Dad's are wonderful entertainment, comforters at times and oh so fascinating but not a source of food like mummies (even if you are bottlefeeding, it's natures tug :o) I'm sure it's just a phase and he'll let Daddy feed him again soon enough.
tommo - that's great that your usual doc called you back. I hope that the new script helps. Yes I can imagine that the spin mat might not be the best thing for reflux bubbas.
newmumma - its weird, I find Cady will start to whinge as soon as I wrap her up, although now I'm starting to suspect it might be coz she doesn't want to be put to bed, but I find that the less she can move the quicker she goes to sleep.
newme - hope you're feeling a bit better, how's the tonsilitis going? Did DH get home ok the other night?
Big hello to all the other girls, I hope everyone is doing great.
AFU - well we're off to our weekly parents discussion group. This week's topic is play and development for the first 6 months. This should be interesting.... Every week Cady has been the model for the class as she's the oldest by 6 weeks lol She sure does love the attention
Well at night when its colder I've been putting her in the sleeping bag and then doing a swaddle over the top that undoes very easily. It's the only way I could think of to wean her off the swaddle. Then at day time I'm going to go back to one arm out again. I'm going to have to put her to bed 5 or 10 mins before she's getting tired though as her arm hits her in the face and keeps her awake.
Oh and she is sooooo darned cheeky. She's figured out how to pull the dummy out of her mouth with her hands, and yesterday she was trying to figure out how to put it back in again...doesn't matter that she kept trying to put in handle side in first, it was sooo cute. She was so impressed with herself
Well, I've had my caffine supply for the day, must dash and get ready. It's pouring with rain here....again...i've been holding off on doing the washing coz I hate using the dryer, it's so expensive to run but now I've run out of sleepsuits for her bedtime so i'll have to do it today. And DP needs his jeans cleaned for work, they're all plastered with oil.
byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :sunshine:
Morning, just a quick one from me. I can't believe how busy I've been since DH got home!
Tash - I'm still on the eye for those teets for you, I haven't forgotten, just finding it hard to get time to get online and get feedback to you.
Tee - :hugs: I hope today is better than yesterday.
Yay TJ! Go Em! What a strong little girl:yelclap:.
Got to run, washing to hang out, a kitchen to clean and 3 yo to persuade to get dressed for the day:rolleyes:.
Enjoy the day!
F doesn't just grizzle about being wrapped he has a full on fit. It is because he knows it is bed time, but he definitely has to be wrapped for bed. He has always done it. I asked our nurse about it and she said it should get less but if they hate going to bed they hate going to bed and will probably never go down happily. Joy! DH hates going to bed and puts it off as long as possible so I guess that is where he gets it from.
Well, attempted dream feed by DH last night was a disaster. F had unwrapped himself and was arms flailing about and woke himself then had to get rewrapped and wouldn't settle without boobs. Oh well, he did sleep through then until 4.30 so think it is a worthwhile pursuing.
Tash, you will need to have the losec sent from RCH and they will do a suspension. They do hate the taste but just put it in his first bottle for the day.
OK, things to do better run!

tommo - hope the losec calms the reflux down for you!
efb - your poor dh! i'm sure it's just a phase... hopefully his feelings don't get too hurt in the meantime. bubba's can be very hard to shift when they want something done a certain way hey!
tj - lily definitely needs sleep in the day! she doesn't want it and can stay a wake for a while happily even if i miss her tired signs but eventually... she cracks it! and is SOOOOOO hard to settle. actually got her down pretty easily in her cot this morning swaddled. she's been in there for an hour... didn't even have to resettle her at 40 mins I sat and watched her and she stirred and just went back to sleep. yay! perhaps we are getting somewhere... maybe. oh and :yelclap:good on you for going on that walk! as soon as my study's done I wanna walk more. feeling very blah and lazy at the moment I am.
Karice - Lily totally whinges when I wrap her but this wrap that actually traps her  seems to do the trick. she seems unhappy to be wrapped but settles MUCH faster! still haven't been wrapping her at night and she's fine. weird. but yeh... the straight jacket i bought is the only one that has actually kept her in and helped her settle. so for me... while it's working for day sleeps I'm just gonna stick with it for now. I'll have to worry bout the weaning later I think...
kar - maybe keep trying the dreamfeed for a week or so to see if little one settles in to it?? we tried with lily again last night and this time she woke at 3am which is earlier than usual and did a big poo everywhere! but she did have her needles yesterday which might have upset her system a bit. we're gonna persist with it and see if after wa few weeks it gets her consistently doing the 11-6 sleep. that would be nice! good luck with it anyways let me know how you get on. I'll keep you posted how we go... for some reason lily has less of a fit wrapped in her miracle blanket / straight jacket. maybe i just think it's less cause she can't actually move so I can't see her arms flailing about  like I could the way I was wrapping her. gotta love these beautiful little bubs who just dont want to miss out on a single moment of the day :smiliedance:
gotta run ladies and make good use of the last little while she's asleep!
take care
Brooke
Brooke, is the miracle blanket really a miracle?? F manages to escape even when i am sure i have done the only wrap that can trap him properly and i know he needs to be wrapped.
do you know how big they can use them up to?
should i order a couple?
id thought about the miracle blanket, so i stole the idea and used one of the baby wraps (you know, they're like, 3.6meters long, you wrap em round yourself and put bubba in.)
layed him on top, put one length over his arm, under his body, then with the same peice come back over the arm, under his body, then wrap it around him twice.
now this was fantastic, no way of getting out, except at 5am he starting squelling cause he couldnt move his arms:rolleyes: so im not sure whether to get one, cause i think he will want to move his arms soon enough.
it is $80 for two including postage, thing i wonder about is how long they will last for? I want to keep wrapping F for a while, he still really flails about and once he has his arms out it is very hard to resettle without a rewrap so you are back to square one.
I keep on thinking "oh well, can use it with number 2" for all the crap I buy that will probably be useful for about a month!
I saw on a review that once they grow out of it in length if you are still wrapping can just leave the legs out. Legs aren't an issue for us it is the arms.
Losec prescription received tash?
I am such a sucker. just ordered. Brooke, if you are a miracle blanket shareholder i will be mad!

Hi Ladies
Well seems like Jackson was just being a fuss pot DH asked to do the morning feed yes thats right asked.... Im like of course :yelclap: Sleep in for me yay well i think he wanted to see if Jackson would feed for him again cause the night feed didnt work either  So DH got up at 7 when Jackson woke and he went fine no probs at all!!! So all is good again DH was happier and i said it was prob just a mummy moment that he wanted who knows he may want daddy and not mummy in the future :) (i hope not lol ) Nah just joking they are funny little things sometimes!
On the wrapping thing im not sure if you guys remember a few weeks back i was struggling to get Jackson to sleep without wrapping and was getting up 4-5 times a night to re-wrap cause he would get out all the time!! Someone suggested a bigger wrap so i had my friend make some and they have been perfect ,but in doing me research on wrapping and stuff i found a few interesting things that i might share but dont be too fussy about it just worth knowing i guess..... Well aparently some babys need to be able to have there hands free to be able to self soothe,i wrap a little looser sometimes during the day and try one arm out ,also they mentioned if you can let them slowly get out of the wrap because it can hinder there development if there arms are too tightly wrapped as there startle reflex goes around 4 months the arms wont be as much of an issue they may even settle better cause there hands are comforting to them.
Having said all that i still wrap Jackson pretty tight at night and only have to re-wrap once a night sometimes i will go in now and he has got his arms out and is still fast asleep!!! So they will develop in there own time just try not to do it too tight incase they want there hands out even thou its hard for us re-wrapping and what not it will pass.... Hope that helps just wanted to share take it or leave it either way.
Any way gots to cruise i have started writing a book so gunna start brainstorming and researchin!!
Bye ladies

hey guys
kar definitely not a shareholder. is seriously working a treat for me. she slept in her cot this morning patted to settle for 5 or 10 minutes not sure how long and then slept for 1.5 hours no resettling (i woke her) and has gone down again been there for half hour or so. in her cot. in the day. well this is unheard of for us!...hangon I hear her back in a sec... okay this time she woke up at 40 mins and i resettled her in my arms. didn't try and put her back down. that's still a massive improvement for us that she went to sleep in her cot to start with with only 5 mins of fuss...
the only thing i was gonna say before you bought one  (you must be keen to try anything!) that they are pretty small length ways (the leg bit) but like you say you could easily leave the legs out. that's not a bad idea actually... i might try that and just do the arms and middle bit over her sleeping bag so that she gets used to the sleeping bag in the day too for when we stop swaddling... (that's what she has at night...)
so yeh... hope it works for you. i've definitely noticed an improvement in day sleeps for my wiggly girl. are you from QLD? I hope I'm not too close by if it doesn't work for you! don't be mad please :D... was just letting you all know what's been working for us!
i don't use it at night though and i imagine thar lily would also get mad if her arms were trapped all night? but if you try it for night let us know how it goes...
best of luck
Brooke
cady just cracks it at bedtime regardless these days  she has a massive dummy spit and a scream for about 2 mins and then gives up  she's just cranky coz she knows that I mean business now and she can't get her own way anymore. So today, I put her down at 12 for a day sleep, she was very overtired as we'd been at the discussion group, still managed to get her to settle to sleep on her own with one arm unswaddled so I'm really really happy. The sooner I can get her to sleep unswaddled the more relaxed I'll feel. I'm so paranoid since that incident the other night. She doesn't seem to be able to smother herself with one arm unwrapped though so that's a plus. At least she can just turn her head to breath if it does happen again.
So I have confirmation today that our new sleeping program and feeding at 3 hours at the earliest is deffinately working, Cady's gained 190grams in just under 1 week!!!! :D Shes now 59cms long aswell. I thought she might have been having a growth spurt earlier last week as we had a really unsettled day followed by a sleepy day.
all in all I'm in a pretty good mood. Despite the rain I've still managed to do a bunch of laundry and my kitchen is nice and clean. I've got some stuff on the indoor clothes line and some stuff in the dryer (grrrrrrr)
well, i might shove off and have a cuppa

Tash, you will need to have the losec sent from RCH and they will do a suspension. They do hate the taste but just put it in his first bottle for the day.
!
hey kar i tried this and found that em was worse on the days i did this so i left a bottle on the bench over night after she had finished it and they was heaps of the little ball leftin the bottle cos they turn brown after a bit so i dont think she got enough i was just told to do it with the bottle via the side of the mouth so you know they got enough and it was recommended to do it this way till it had started to work properly. did you do it in the bottle? did it work for you? i am just interested cos as i said it didnt work for em and i am interested if it works for other bubs that way.
heya tash hope you got your script oh adn if bub on half a tablet definatly worth getting a pill cutter the stupid things have no half way line grrrrrrr. i hope you dont find me pushing ways onto you just some small things i have learnt along the way appologise if i offend you with my blabbering.
karice - emily wont sleep swaddled i not sure why mind you i hate my arms being pinned so it may be soething from me. i have all the wraps and stff and rarely get to use them. it just funny how some bubs refuse to sleep untill swaddled and some refuse to be swaddled.
newmummaofbub - some babies need sleep em has been sleeping alot lately but i think this morning i have discovered why she seems to have a bit of the runs which is surprising adn poos like twice a day which is not normal for her normally i struggle to get 1 a day but this morning she has sounded a little clogged in the chest and her spit which is obviously like water normally is kinda flemmy but no colour so i am happy about that well so the point to all this babble is i think she has the cold. glad you got her to sleep easy this morning i have had to make em sleep cos she has her physio at 1 and that tires her out and if she already tired god i am in for it.
afu emily is now 5.7kg at 3mths old ( in nappy only) and happy had a massive convosation with the community midwife adn last night she slept 7 hours and then was up at her usual 2-3am and then back down till 6-7 dh does this feed before he goes to work such a pumpkin. well anyway not much else happening really just have heaps to do and cant really be bummed. well better go have breaky being it is lunch time lol.
kar and tj, re the medication, tracyselena told me about putting it in the side of his mouth while he takes his bottle, also, if they are screaming, squirt it in the back of their throat, and they have to swallow, and hardly notice it, so ive got the 'giving' medication down pat, he's been on zantac 3 times daily for 6 weeks, plus infants freind, gah, i hate giving him crap like this.
still dont have the script, ive called the clinic 4 times now:o, well i can only get out every now and again, and it will take the chemist here forever to fill it, but on the last call the reception chick was like 'she probably ownt get it done till after hours now', well thats fine and dandy for you sweet heart, but thats another day without it, boohoo.
tj, oh, no offense taken, it can take you a while to figure out the tricks of the trade eh! thanks for thinking of me and passing your wisdom on!
efb, haha, re wrapping, thats what J is like, i had him wrapped like a straight jacket, and he woke up squeeling cause he couldnt move his arms! needless to say, both dh and i both jumped out of bed! so i agree with, wrap, but not to the degree of straight jacket (thats what workd for us) J like to work on getting those hands out.
hehe, josh is a poomba compared to you guys, he's 5.5kgs at 9.5weeks. the main advantage to that is that he will hopefully want solids a little sooner, which will hopefully help the reflux.
the mums at mthers group are all talking how they dont want their babies to grow up, but thats all i want:( cause the sooner he grows up, the sooner the reflux goes, which we will all be happier about.
He is putting on weight well, but i struggle each feed iwth him to keep it up.
i did 2 workouts on the wii active today, i have to say my fitness level is improving very quickly to where it used to be. i kept walking right up untill he was born, and we started walking again one week post partum, but i hadnt done anything super intense, and this is full on, it feels good though, and the number on the scale today was a little lower than a few days ago, so thats a boost. im still working on my diet, small steps, but being aware. it will take me at least a year to lose all of the weight im aiming to, so its long haul!

oh dear think little one has runny belly AKA diarrhoea... probably from her vaccinations... i think they said that can happen from the rotavirus one? has done about 7 poos today and counting. poor cherub...
seems okay otherwise no temp or anything but trying to get lots of boobie milk in her so she doesn't get dehydrated.
so i think we can safely say that her routine is out the window for the evening! keeps waking up from her naps to poo this afternoon...
am hoping to make it to the north brissie catchup fri morning but i am so behind on uni work it might not happen :( have set myself a goal by tomorrow night so if it's done i'll be there... otherwise i might need to meet you all at the next one.
ah well. get to work Brooke! :shame:
take care
Brooke
TASH - have you seen those bottles that have the syringe in the middle? someone gave me a couple, useless since i don't bottle feed but i can see that they could be handy for administering medicine since as they suck away use squirt it down there throat.
If you wanna give them a go let me know i can send them to you.
Oh and you think j is a chubby bub, Cale weighed 7.5 kg at 9.5 weeks

ahhh well emily i am pretty sure has a cold but seems to sometime strugglebreathing in so i am keeping a very close eye on her and she cant scream at the moment she starts then it just turn to a gurgle mind you the screaming the way she just was she hasnt dont since before they found the pyloric and the reflux. :( i hope she will be ok and actually now i think about it she does have a little bit of the runs being she has pooped twice yesterdayand the second one was quite runny and then again this morning not sure if she has done another oneyet but her nappies havent been as wet. dh has been sick and mine is starting but i get them often so mine wont be to bad. oh dear.
newmummaofabub - yep diareahh or however you speel the word is a symptom emily was just very very unsettled and wouldnt have a bar of anything.
tommo - tracylene and i must do it the smae way as for putting it in there mouth while they are screaming it isnt a nice scream and em pretty much 100% of the time will chock on it if i do it that way.

Ok any ideas ppl Jackson doesnt seem to be taking as much milk as he normally does and then he gags on his bottle??? Never done this before and he always takes his full bottles im not too worried about his weight he is 7.5 kg and 13 weeks so just wondering what could be going on but if it goes any longer he may start losing weight and im a bit worried??? So any ideas would be great?
ps I HATE FOOTBALL
LOL
Crystal
argh, mother's group!! today was meant to be about "transitioning to parenthood" but inevitably ended up being about whose baby is sleeping through. the vast majority claimed to have a baby sleeping through with just a dream feed. liars??
also they almost all claimed to have a 'routine that works for us'. this is people with 6 wks old babies.
when i said at 14 wks it is still a day to day proposition in our house and sleeping through aint going to be happening any time soon they all looked at me with pity and i detected smugness. one even had the temerity to say she was 'sure you will get a good one next time' WTF?? just because F doesn't sleep through and doesn't fit into some text book frickin baby robot book doesn't mean he isn't a 'good one'.
then of course we got home and he had his worst tantrum pretty much ever. had to unwrap him take a layer of clothes off him and put him in the middle of my bed to scream until i was able to put him on the boob. then have pretty much fed him for the last 4 hours. all on the night DH is at a work thing.
sorry about my selfish ranting post. in reality i am jealous of all them with 'easy babies'. only one other mum admitted to having a bub who sounds much like felix. surely there can't only be two of us out of twelve?? think i will just save the truth for on here and bull**** to everyone else. i am sick of people asking me if 'he is getting better'. he is a f***ing baby. what do people expect?

kar all those other ladies are probably lying just to fit in maybe 1 could possibly be doing it but not all you will get the most help if your honest. keep ya chin up and dont worry about other people judging you as they probably are very miserable and unhappy inside and put others down to make themselves feel better. hmm sounds like i knew a few of those sort of people hey lmao glad i left albany. everybaby is different. kar witha sick baby EVERY other baby will seem easy but they arent just not as hard as ours. and i think more should be done to mums who had sick babies like we should ge 2 mothers days or something.lol. you not ranting it better to get it off your chest than keep it to yourself chicky.
emotional first bub. emily is 12weeks and isonly 5.7kg if you are worried ask a doc but sometimes they do just have a down point where they slow on there feeds but i would ask your midwife or someone and see what they think if you worried and weight him every week if you have to to keep your mind sane. that what i did. i hate football to but LOVE RUGBY GO THE BLUES ARRRRRRRR.
 kris, your post gave me a great laugh (cause i can soooo sypathise!)
Im the only one in our mothers group with a reflux bub, some will admit that their bubs arnt sleeping well, but most claim to have a dreamy baby that hardly cries and sleeps for most of the night (some go as far as to complain when their bub only sleeps for a 6-7 hour stretch at once:eek:, i wish!)
honestly, J's day can change very quickly, he has 'general' ways of when he feeds ect, but none of them hard and fast rules.
Some will commetn on the tough stuff, but wont let alot out, i find that the girls on here are much more honest about motherhood. Thats its sooo not a bed of roses.
at mothers group last night, it was dads night, so all the partners came, josh was Perfect the whole time! we literally walked through the front door and the screaming started, LOL, for the next 5 hours.... Dh was getting so flustered with him, i said to pass him over, and let me try some things, i calmed him within 5 minutes for maybe 20mins, then the crying started again. i tried to lighten things up with dh, and he finally understood getting stroppy only maked things worse.
i swear, they must think im lying when i say he is ahandful (hey, who am i trying to impress, heres the truth, take it or leave it...) cause he is almost always perfect when we're out, little so and so, not that i want him to start playing up when we're out! just stop playing up when we're home:laughing:
i know those eyes you're talking about, 'the poor thing', yeah its crap, but im sure you have crap times too....
is that enough of me 'crapping' on???
kar:hugs: il always be straight with you, i know how tough it is

hey Kar i agree with what everyone else has said and i have found that most mums want to only tell the good not the bad im sure some of the bubs are sleeping throu but surely not all and from my experience with Jackson yeah sure he sleeps throu with only a dream feed but the days are a mess he often catnaps and then is cranky and no matter what we try he is just a catnapper!! so there is often a trade off when they sleep throu but im sure they would never tell you that they just wanna brag about the good things.
It does no good but make others feel crappy if they are having a rough time, thats why i never went to mums group, no one keeps on topic!
Im 100% sure everyone is true to form in here i would rather chat here any day!
Thanx TJ will keep on eye on it :)

Oh look I got my new user name! Used to be hubnbump just in case no one gets who this new person is!
Just a quick one cause Jacob is absolutely crakin it for some reason, DH is in there trying his best but he's still screaming.
SO, Tommo thank you for that c.d, have put it on tonight and initially Jacob did go to sleep quite well with it. That 'white noise' one freaks me out though, I have to skip that one :D I used to have nightmares about that sound when I was younger.
We did the mission to Mackay today to pick up one of the cot pieces that was ordered for us as when we unpacked the box to put it up a few weeks ago, there was a huge crack in once of the bits of timber. Anyhoo, so we wait 3 weeks, go pick it up today, get home to put it together and what do ya know - it's the wrong blinkin piece! ergghh, so now we are going to have to make another trip down sometime. So not happy. We have put it together anyway with the cracked piece for now.
So tonight is the first night he's in his big bed! He's not quite sure about all the space, but loves his mobile.
On the swaddling thing, I've been weaning J off his the last few weeks cause he hates his hands been tied down. We
ve been swaddle free about a week and I just brought a grobag today for nights.
oh had more to say but hes not happy and typing one handed is getting to hard.
Pop in tomorrow, night ladies...
wow, this screaming is just getitng worse and worse, my doc called tonight, apologised for not gettin the script done (was stuck in labour ward + appts), what sort of doc does that? a good one. so il go tomoz morning pick it up. im finding im stayin in most days now, the weather is horrible, and the logistics of getting J in and out of the car is horrible, the car seat crunches him up, so he spews every time hes in it, then he tries going to sleep, and i have to keep waking him up:( so home body for me....
im hoping and praying losec works for us:fingerscrossed: times are tough in this household at the moment.
EFB, im always watching j's intake, check his nappies are wet, and how many he is doing, the general rule is be worried when they get to half normal input and output, hth's
hubnbubby, now i see y you wanted to change your name, very appropriate. hope the cd keeps working for you!

Hi Ladies
Hubnbubby love the new user name i want to change mine and i know you have to e-mail the admin but not exactly sure where i click lol i havent really looked that hard but its prob somewhere obvious but how?? Yay:smiliedance: on the swaddle free for a week we are struggling with just one arm out Jackson loves being swaddled its like his que as soon as i swaddle he closes his eyes and i give him his dummy and he knows its sleep time not sure how im gunna get around it we do the one arm out during the day but he wakes himself up 20 mins later i dont want him swaddled but he loves it any tips???
Tommo we are the same weather is crap cant justify taking him out in the cold and our car seat was doing that to Jackson as well he was all crunched and threw up everytime so we have just moved it so its facing the other way and is a bit more upright he is a bit older than your bub and he has really good head control and is in the right weight range so we felt comfortable changing it and it has been heaps better but we still dont take him out much in the cold and that and the fact he falls asleep and is woken up getting in and out and what not i feel sorry for them so i dont tend to do it often.
Ok so keeping on eye on his intake versus outtake it all seems normal and he took a huge bottle this morning so prob just freaking over nothing will still keep on eye on it thou!
Another question for ya's Jackson will have his nappy change and bath at 6:00 in bed by 7:00 so he goes til 10:30 has a dream feed and sleeps til 7:00am now i have not been changing him at his dream feed and have found the last couple of nights his nappy is leaking so i go to him in the morning and the poor bunny is wet, bedding and all!!
Any one had any nappies that have been leaking ive been using huggies for the night and sorbies for the day which was going fine but now the huggies are leaking at night. I know i can fix it by changing him at 10:30 when i do the dream feed but he wakes up soooo much when i do and is all smiles and is hard to get back to sleep!!! The nappy is full but not overly full in the morning it just leaks???? I have tried doing the tabs snug around the back (thats where it leaks everytime)
So any ideas or other brands???
Thanx Ladies
Crystal
Crystal, are you using the right size? I have only ever used huggies and sometimes they do leak but from what I have heard they are pretty much the best. DS often had leakage when he was little. I think it's a boy thing (and making sure they are positioned correctly in the nappy so it doesn't leak out the side!) Haven't had that problem at all with DD (although the explosive poos are another thing!).
I have decided to cut the dream feed. I thought it would help Ella to sleep through but it really wasn't happening. She was still waking once per night and I was waiting up to do it so now I figure I'll go to bed earlier and if I have to get up twice so be it. The past 2 nights she has had a feed and been in bed by 7.30 and has only woken once in the night for a feed anyway. Yay!!! So now I only have once feed to drop for a full night's sleep. I don't mind doing this for a while - it's getting up 2 - 3 times that is the killer.
Should really do some jobs while Ella is sleeping and Michael is watching the Wiggles but this weather is so dreary - makes me want to curl up in bed!
Crystal - when this happens with F for a couple of nights in a row i have moved him to the next size up and it has solved the problem. Also, make sure the leg ruffle things are fully out.
Well, last night F woke at 10.45 for milk after having fed pretty much from 3pm until he went down at 6.45. Then woke again at 4. He was doing 7-8hr stretches from when he went to bed every night for weeks and weeks and now we are back to a maximum of 5 hrs. I just don't know what is going on at the moment.
His day sleeping is also regressing back to where we were before the day stay. Waking after 40 mins, usually can't resettle and then by 2pm he is completely over it and screams until bed time. Also he is getting more and more hysterical about going to bed again.
My best friend is coming from the UK next week to see him and it is all falling down again :(
PS, why are people so keen to get rid of the swaddle unless their bub is really fighting it? I want to keep it for as long as possible and will be persuading F to stay swaddled. I understand with Cady's rolling and face planting but otherwise if it helps them sleep why change it?
My MCHN said that the thing re it inhibiting development is not a concern as long as they are getting lots of swaddle free time and aren't confined to a rocker/chair etc while they are up.
crystal, as kar said, ue the next size up of a night time;) we have been with josh (not that sleeping through is something he does, lol) just means no muckin about at night time:)
Sorry I am such a sad sack at the moment and self obsessed. I just really thought it would be getting easier by now and it is not.
However, he is just so gorgeous and happy and funny when he is awake and not overtired that that is keeping me going.
I do think he has made some developmental leaps in the last week or so so maybe that is why we seem to be regressing/radically changing in other areas.
I am going to move his sleeps to the cot, use the miracle blanket and keep going with the same routine we have been doing for another 2 wks and see where we are at then.
I need to keep reminding myself that we are in a better place than we were 2 wks ago. He is never going to go to bed happily and the best I can do is manage it.
2 wks will be a month since the day stay and will take him up to almost 4 months.
Might also do the thing I said I never would do and confine ourselves to the house for the next couple of weeks, well at least for the morning to mid afternoon period to try and work on those first two sleeps.
Sorry to put all this here, just thinking out loud really.

mmmmm maybe i do need to go next size up will try tonight its not leaking out the sides i always pull out the ruffles its up the back? so maybe a size thing thanx!
Kar with the swaddle thing i dunno i guess everything i have heard says they should not be swaddled after 4 months and jackson is 2 weeks shy of that and starting to roll so i figured i would have to whine him off?? but he does love it so not sure lol im not too concerned at the moment but there comes a point where you will HAVE to stop so the sooner the better i guess i dunno really im just gunna go with what he wants i guess size is no longer a prob now my friend has been making bigger wraps for me :yelclap: and in funky prints lol but we will see i guess there is no immediate need to stop :) so i know what you mean
For those curvier girls among us - City Chic (catering for curves) has a 50-75% off sale starting today - both online and in store. The website is lagging so I think they're getting slammed, so get in asap because they've already sold out of quite a lot.
Make sure you check your sizing against theirs, as they have their own sizing. A standard size 20 is like, a 14 or 16 in their store. So visit their size fitting page to measure up :)

Kar I decided to stop the swaddle because Jacob always got himself out of it and was much happier with his arms free. Because he doesn't take the dummy, he sucks on his hands as well and cuddles (and licks!) his teddy which helps him get off to sleep. I've also started putting him to sleep on his belly if he's really cranky, it's the only thing that calms him down, then I flip him over once he's asleep :) How's the miracle wrap going? Sounds like F enjoys been wrapped, so I would keep with it too. I've seen in the baby galore catalogue these wraps which have Velcro on the sides so it's impossible for bubs to escape, are they similar to the miracle one? I hope F starts to find his sleep pattern again and you can get some rest. Jacob still wakes 2-3 times a night, it didn't really occur to me that he should be going longer?!
EFB, scroll down to the bottom of this page and you will see 'contact us'. Click on that and email the mods and they will change it for you, took about a week. As for the wraps, I started just wrapping one arm down for about two weeks but he always got the other free anyway so the transition was easy to go wrap free. He never really liked it and I would always find the wrap up around his waist or neck and nothing else.
How you going today Tommo?
HnB - yeah, waking twice a night i think is totally normal and wouldn't expect anything else, the thing is that he has totally changed his patterns overnight overnight and i am clueless as to why. if he settles into an earlier feed and then a 4amish that is fine, but the 11.30, 3am then 6am that we suddently started having has been making me pretty tired with no more than 2.5hrs sleep at a go.
plus all the mums claiming sleeping through at mother';s group freaked me out!

Hi everyone!
Long time no write from me - I have been reading but find it difficult to post a lot.
Sorry no real personals but just wanted to say something to Kar - babe, I know EXACTLY how you feel. My DS1 was (and still is) a shocking sleeper - barely 45 minute naps during the day, and waking 5 times a night on a good night! I was at my wits end and literally drove out of the house one night, leaving him with DH because I just couldn't take it anymore. I know I've said it previously but that Baby Whisperer book by Tracy Hogg was a godsend for us - it taught me about helping DS1 to self-settle, which cries meant what, etc. If you can get your hands on a copy, it might really help you. She helps you to understand the temperament of your baby too, and gives solutions to heaps of problems. Big hugs to you honey - hopefully you'll be looking back at your posts in a couple of weeks and not having to worry about the issues you and bub are dealing with at the moment. PM me if you want to chat more about the book!! :hugs:
AFU - We are very excited about the meetup with the Brissie girls tomorrow. Benji is in the midst of his 12 week growth spurt, waking up two times a night to feed (he's only ever woken once since birth!), and wanting to feed heaps of times throughout the day. We still have terrible thrush, nothing seems to be working so I'm going to get some Daktarin gel for B and some difflucan tablets for me to see if that helps. DS1 has a cold at the moment and his asthma is playing up heaps, he's having Ventolin every 2 hours for the last two days, and today he's started to grunt when he breathes out (which is not a good sign!) so we are off to the doctors at 2pm, he may need to start some oral steroids. I 'm pretty sure he has bronchiolitis again, he's actually got a weird lung, on the right side there are normally three lobes (or parts) of the lung, and on the left side only two parts. Well, DS1 has only 2 parts on the right side as well, so he's more prone to getting bronchiolitis and asthma, so we have to keep a really close eye on him.
Hope everyone is rugged up in this cold weather, big hugs to everyone (including myself) who is not getting any decent chunk of sleep at night!
P.S> Tee - I went to City Chic today and got 5 singlets reduced from $40 each to $5 each!! Bargain!! Bring on summer I say!!

Kar can you phone the person who ran the day sleep clinic and see if they can offer any answers? Maybe you could do longer then a day stay? I really hope it's just a phase and that he goes longer for you soon. In the meantime just try rest as much as poss during the down time, forget everything else at the moment, you and F are number one. I'm usually in bed by 8:30 every night! I find if I don't hit the hay early, then I wont get anything longer then 5hr at a streatch. I know you aren't getting anywhere near this at the moment, :hugs::hugs: Don't listen to the mums at mothers group, I wouldn't believe it anyway! For some people 'sleeping through' seams to be some sort of a reflection of the perfect mum and perfect baby. It has nothing to do with it! Don't let them get you down.
Jacob has gone down finally in his cot, yay, listening to the c.d. On his belly mind you. And after some boob. One thing at a time hey. He seams to like all the classical music, I quite do to, it seams to remind me of child hood ballet lessons.

Ok so this may sound silly but how do i change my avatar and signature everytime i try to it just loads to the next page which comes up blank:confused::confused::confused::confused:
Tee, THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU!! I ordered 2 tops form them about 3 weeks ago, cost me $130 (seriously, you get to a point where you will pay anything for clothes that will fit and look half decent!) Just ordered 4 more tops, for $170, worth almost $400!! Mwa!!
We saw the chiro again today, he's sure that J's liver is well and truly over sized (he thought it was large at 2 weeks old, and its been that way since) so he is working over time trying to process the formula and the medications he's on. SO, he said we try the goats milk formula, as the cows protein may be far to hard for him to digest. (ive had a couple of people tell me try goats milk)
So i picked some up, (karicare was $25, now we've moved up again to $34 for the goats milk, he goes through at least one a week, gah, he has expensive taste! lol)
Made up the 150ml (so 180ml there abouts)(he has only been taking 110ml, should be much closer to 180ml)
he took 160ml:eek:, but that could be to do with the fact that its alot thinner than the AR, so he could drink it easier. he did one spew, prob 20ml, so really quite good compared to normal. then went to sleep within 5 minutes (hadn't slept since 9.30, now 1.15) and has slept since, no waking. HMMMM, i wonder if this might be our solution. so il keep him on the goats milk, see how we go, and THEN try the losec, only change one thing at a time. so still on zantac.
ok, il be back in a bit to catch up pn personals
Kar:hugs:
well i've had a weird day, not bad or anything I just feel a bit weird. Can't explain it properly, ok never mind
so I (finally) got my Kevin Rudd money in my bank today HURRAH! Went to the shops and new that I needed to buy nappies coz we're getting low and I won't have time tomorrow as the Brissy Girls are meeting up and then Cady has Physio in the arvo and I want her to have at least one sleep before she goes there.
Target has a massive sale on!!!!!
I only spent $100 in target, I set myself a limit coz I have a habit of spoiling the bejezus out of Cady whenever I get some cash :o I bought a musical 3 in 1 rainforest play gym for $50 (it was half price) and they also have 25% off nursery manchester so I bought a thermal cot blanket and a super thick polar fleece cot blanket and a dummy chain and holder box for under $50!!!! It was awesome!!!!
Then pumpkin patch have 40% off selected items (even their new stuff ) so I bought her a dress and a gorgeous cardigan. I wouldn't normally buy her knitted things coz I think its a total rip off when they charge $20 plus and I can make it almost identical for like under $2 (yes you read that right, $2) but this one was totally GORGEOUS so I broke my rule. That reminds me, have a look on my facebook tomorrow under "kaz's creations" photo album, I finished another pair of knitted pants for her last night, I'll post a pic up.
So, I've been referred to see the pysio myself. I was hoping to avoid it. It seems they think that my bad tear may not have healed as well as it should have as DTD still really really hurts :( 3 months later. We've tried to work around the problem ourselves but its just not working out well, which is disappointing. They said something about possibly needing ultrasound treatment??? never heard of it before and it doesn't sound fun...
Kar - I agree with the girls, those mothers at that group sound full of sh!t. Nearly every one of us on this thread has sleeping issues of some kind. (actually, possibly all of us???) Some won't settle, some won't stay asleep, some don't sleep at night, some don't sleep during the day, some want swaddling some don't, some don't sleep in the cot, some will only sleep on mum etc... you get the point. I highly doubt that their babies sleep on cue everytime, where their told to, for as long as their told to... Oh and yes we have twins again!!!! Cady's sleeping pattern at night has changed again aswell! She seems to wake up around 3am (ish) for a feed, she's done that for about a week now I think. If I'm very very very very lucky she'll sleep on through to 7:30 (ish) but quite often she's back up at 6. Then there is also her midnight waking for a feed, so I feel your pain!!!!! Although, TBH, I don't want Cady to sleep through the night yet. I'd prefer her to go back to only waking up once, but I feel more secure in the fact that she's getting enough food if she wakes once during the night. She's slept through only twice (before we nutted out her day sleep issues) and it really freaked me out, and her weight gain dropped off that week, and it played havok with my supply so that just doens't work for us anyway.
soooo last night was odd, but somewhat of a success. Cady did a midnight to 4 am sleep NO SWADDLE!! She was in the sleeping bag only :smiliedance: I had to swaddle her again at 4 coz she wasn't settling back to sleep after a feed but it's one small step forward. I slept much better knowing that if she rolled over she was safe, as it turned out when I went in at 4 she was on her side so she may have been on her tummy at some point.
EFB - we had so many issues with the huggies nappies, Cady always managed to pee out the sides. We tried different sizes and made sure the ruffles were pulled out didn't make any difference. We changed to snugglers and haven''t had any problems at all (plus they're much much much cheaper!!) Newme put me onto them, we get a bulk box of 134 for $32 from Big W, they're super!!
Here's the facebook link for the new kanoko pants I knitted for those that don't have me on their facebook yet

hey ladies
well my uni work is going okay... better... i may have reached my target by this tonight so I can get to the brissie mums get together. yay! :yelclap: i hope i make it anyways.
had mothers group again this morning and I think the group is much more honest that the one you're in kar! everyone i spoke to seems to have SOME issue with sleep. whether it's day/night or whatever! so that makes me feel better. Lily's still doing better in the day in her wrap I can always get her down in 5-10mins IF ONLY I COULD GET HER PAST THAT 40MIN MARK! Any of you settling gurus out there got any magic tricks I could try for resettling? HAving said that though I'm happy with any progress really and just happy to have her getting used to her cot in the day as when I am back at work her other caregivers won't be holding her all day...
kar have been putting her in her grobag in the day (like night sleep) and just wrapping her arms in. Seems to be working okay. HAve your wraps come yet?
i think lily's settling down now after her needles a couple days ago which is good. she was pretty whingy and cuddly til she slept last night.
YAY:smiliedance:for all you lucky ladies buying clothes and pressies for your bubs. ENJOY your purchases!
Tommo - hope the goat's milk formula might be a solution for you. Glad your doctor has been helpful for you too!
Might drop in later. Hi  to everyone else.
Take Care :)
i want to go to the brissy catch up:(

that will be nice! hope it pans out!!!!
i am ostensibly going to visit my sister in brissy later in the year, but have ulterior motives involving nth brissy catch ups!
wrap has arrived.
I'm back! MIL flew home today, and it has been so weird at home just me and the little guy!
You guys have done so much chatting I've got loads to catch up on. Hope you are all well, I'm off to do some reading before Will wakes up!!
He is doing great, now weighs 5.8kg, and measures 60cm. Got to take him for his injections tomorrow which I'm dreading.
pippa, so nice to have you back, J and W are so on the same page, J's 5.5kg, and almost 60cm's;)
See if hubby can be around a bit more over the next few days, i found the vax's really messed with J, so :hugs:for the coming days.
kar, wow, that was quick postage! hope it helps with F's sleeping patterns.
oh, im more than happy to read you ranting, i quite look foward to seeing whats up!
hubnbubby, yeah, work on small steps i reckon, change to much at once and we're in for trouble!lol
kylieb, i went on the site and got some great bargains, we dont live near one, so internet shopping it is!lol
newmumofbub, try these 2, the first is Kars original post re cat nappers, the second has info from Karice too.

karice, you've got some talent there havnt you! they all look great.
i saw the target sale, its sad to say, i already have just about everything:o i picked up some wrist rattles for j tho.
missloiuse, maybe try it in a new window, sometimes i find its a problem with the browser.
So J has had 2 feeds on goats milk.
first was the 1pm one, he slept till 4.15, which is sorta normal, as he usual does a good sleep in the afternoon, gave him another at 4.30, seemd to take it well, had to work on getting the burps out (butwere a little easier than usual) then was happy to play for over an hour, he then did 3 little spews, lets just saw, the goats milk is HIDEOUS coming back up!!! it was rank!! lol. he's went to bed at 6.30, and so far hasnt stirred.
sorry, i do crap on, dont i! i dont know anyone really cares all that much IRL, and if you dont, well i cant tell, cause i cant see your bored faces:laughing:
:p
edit:spoke to soon, J only slept for 20 mins, oh, tonight is going to be fun...
Oooh Kar definately come to a meet while you're here, it's always lovely to meet more March 09 bubs! That goes for anyone who comes up from interstate, I'm sure we'd all be happy to meet you!
kar - I agree, those ladies at mothers group are at least stretching the truth. Their babies may have slept through once or twice, but for them ALL to be sleeping through just seems so unbelievable. We have our good days and our bad days, but DD1 had the constant crying, not sleeping, never knowing what was wrong thing going on. It does get better. DD1 was about F's age when I finally got some help(residential stay) and started to feel more positive. You're sounding more positive today and have a great plan of action:thumbsup:
Tash - Have you managed to find those teets yet? I'm still looking at every chemist or shop I go to and haven't seen them anywhere. The chemist today even looked it up in their order book and they can't get any Mam products at all:confused:. But I searched on their website and found the contact details for the australian distributor, if you want the details I can send them to you.
AFU - We've been flat out busy helping DH chase things up after the show he's been at. FIL was working in our office, but really wasn't doing a lot so on kindy days I'll be going in until we can find a proper internal sales person. So keeping me busy. DH also has a show to do in sydney at the end of this month and suggested this afternoon that I do the show with him. If I go DD1 would stay here with my parents for 5-6 days while DD2 comes with us. Hmmm, don't know what to do. Part of me wants to go with DH to help him, solves lots of problems, but the other part of me doesn't want to leave DD1 behind but I know that we can't logistically take both kids. DD1 would hate the drive, hate being contained to the convention centre for 3 days and we'd have no-one to help look after her so it'd be a waste of time me going as I'd have my hands full looking after her. Indie's pretty easy going so long as I have my wrap.
Anyway rambling, it's been a long day, not much sleep was had today, but alas sleep has decended!
newme, oh, you have gone so out of your way for me!! They are very hard to find! now we've put J on goats milk formula, its coming through the teat faster, so we should have another few weeks before its urgent, id love the info you found too!!
Nomadic and i came across the same site last night (at 3am,lol, only so many ppl pn facebook at that hour, lol) that sell them, they charge an arm and a leg, but it might be the only solution!
I won an ebay auction this morning too, 3 mam bottles, that apparently have number 2 teats, we'll see when they get here!
wow, thats alot to take on jess! theres pros and cons both ways, but you're right, its either leave dd1 behind, or stay, you'd not get much done with her there. hmmm, desicions!

Meh It's not out of my way at all, I just wander in on my way past and when you're looking in the baby section with such a young bub you get approached for help pretty quickly! I'll PM you the info.
Yeah, Sydney's a big call. I can see that DH would really love the company but he too is worried about leaving DD1 behind. She missed him so much when he was away and the longest she's been away from me was while I was in hospital with Indie, but even then she came up to see us every night. She'd basically have 3 days of kindy then the weekend(with a b'day party to attend) then another day of kindy and we'd be home during that day so would pick her up from kindy that night. Also she goes to bed at 6:30pm and gets up at 6ish am. So really it's only a few hours each morning and each evening that she's with my parents and kindy is nothing different. It's the weekend that I'm most worried about but she's got a b'day party 1 day and my parents will probably take her down to their caravan to distract her. It's also a big call for me to ask them to look after her for 6 days, that's a lot to ask. Ah if only life was easy... but then I guess it'd be boring:p

If I still lived in Sydney I'd say that she could hang with us during the day (I have a sneaky suspicion that both our little misses would get on fabulously!). Bugger moving to Canberra. We were worried about leaving the kids with the MIL when we went on our honeymoon but they loved it. We compared holiday stories when we got back, DSS2 was 3 when we got married. We spoke to them each morning and each night (well, when it didn't interfere with their schedule lol) and it flew by. It might surprise you all. If you do go then it sounds like it would be pretty full on for you both, let me know if you do and if you'd have a chance for a coffee, I can head up there (I'll use you as an excuse to go to Ikea lol).
Tash - I'd give the distributors a call, they might be really helpful and send you out some :) I had a lovely chat with the head office of Bellamys yesterday after ringing them to find out all their stockists in Canberra (DH had shown up home with step 2 formula saying that's all they had grr - totally not true, he just wasn't looking). The lady was absolutely lovely and full of information. I didn't look at the delivery on that site - that's really harsh!!
AFU - we've had a drumroll moment this week with Miss 6. We took her to get allergy tested on Tuesday. It was done using an electric current machine so not invasive at all and quite interesting actually... and the answer is... she's allergic to:
Sugar
Honey
Yellow artificial colouring
Blue artificial colouring
Banana
Benzoic acid (210)
MSG
Do you realise how much stuff has sugar in it?? My god. Thankfully she can have sugar substitutes so am finding loads of stuff. I got the bread oven out again and we are back to making our own bread. Steamed fresh vegies tonight with organic sausages from our butcher - had to hold the sauce until I can find a sugar free variety. We have decided that we will all be sugar free with her so that she doesn't feel left out (well we will be while she's around, I'm not putting sweetener in my coffee). The reality is that it can only benefit us. She also has a fungi in her stomach which is a result of the sugar and some anti-biotics she was on recently. We're meant to be giving her garlic for that but trying to figure out another way to deal with it. She likes garlic bread but they're talking 3 cloves a day!!!! I wouldn't eat that much and I'm not sending her to school reeking of garlic everyday.
Thankfully she can also still have fruit, I was dreading that when she said "sugar" as a friend of ours has recently had to do a complete sugar free diet, including fruit and all substitues.. it was insane!
Bubs has cut his first tooth... I've never seen so much drool come out of such a little mouth lol.
Wow nomadic, what a full on week. I can't believe B's cut a tooth already! Wow!
That's a lot for Miss 6 to be allergic to, but great that you know now, will be interesting to see how her behaviour goes by cutting those things out.
Will definately let you know if we go down, I'd have thurs 25th free if we go.
Well I really think it's time for me to go to bed. DH is sitting up playing poker so at least 1 of us should get a decent sleep tonight to feel human enough when DD1 pokes and prods us to get up at 6am:rolleyes:

Looking forward to seeing what you decide to do NM :)
DH has a thing with his kids teething early lol.... DSS1 was born with teeth and then they went back up again and then came back - his baby teeth were rubbish! DSD has rubbish chalky teeth as well, they are so grinded down and have marks all over them, can't wait for her to start losing them. DSS2 has one yukky tooth. I'm really hoping it goes back up and stays there for a while so that it will be stronger when it eventually grows properly.
:laughing:bahahaha!
im sitting here, leaving little man to settle back on his own, he just let of a HUGE foghorn fart!!! Definatley his fathers son, LOL
TJ, that would be great if you could have a squize, they are very elusive! We're after number 2 teats. Number 1 and 3 are available, but 2 seem so to have dissapeared of the side of the earth!
NM, il be sure to let the supplier know that i have people on every state looking for these darn teats!!
Nom, wow, thats alot to cut out, i suppose the sugar will be good for everyone, still a huge adjustment (cause EVERYTHING has sugar added in! boooo)
its a tough road with allergies, i know its not the same, but mum has ceoliacs (gluten) and diabetes, so i've seen how hard it can be with just those (well for mum that was huge!)
With any luck you will see an improvement in her (and the attitude;)) soon.
I've sent dh up for formula, and he's too bought back the wrong one with the same excuse, but i know they did have the right one, he just wasnt looking! It might be worth me giving the formula company a call too, they prob know more than anyone some ideas ect for J (like try all of our products, lol).

Urggh I've gone back to having a newborn. Last night Jacob slept from 5pm - 10, (so I didn't sleep because I kept waiting for him to wake) then up at 1am, back down at 2, up at 4, and now 6:30. My eyes are hanging out of my head! And I have the first class of mothers group today with the health nurse, Kar I'm sure it will be obvious my baby doesn't sleep through!

Poor you hubnbubby it must be that growth spurt  Hope it passes soon i know i freak as soon as Jackson changes his sleeping patterns of a night wondering what i did differently or what phase he is he going through now!!! They are such funny things but who knows he may get over the growth spurt and sleep like an angel from then on :)
Its gone pretty quiet in here lately thats prob a sign of some busy mummas well hope everyone is doing ok will pop in later
take care
Crystal
HnB - that is hideous, poor you! Hopefully a one or maybe two off, sounds growth spurtish.
Tash, have you tried chemist warehouse online? i will look in ours next time i am there. between us all all over Australia we must be able to find these teats!!
Nomadic, that is a lot of allergies, but hopefully will help with her behaviours.
We had a great night overnight - down at 6.45, dream feed at 10 without any waking, feed at 3.30 then up at 6.45. Text book baby! And he stayed wrapped snug in the miracle blanket all night.
Then it has just taken me 40 minutes to get him down for his morning sleep which is his worst ever record since the day stay  I think I may have had him overheated a bit, i took a layer off and put the devil music on and he only took another 10 - 15 to settle. Oh well, guess the change to day sleeps in the cot is bound to be difficult.
I am going to the hairdresser today, mum is officially swine flu free, yay!! I am actually feeling very anxious about leaving him for so long (probably about 3 hrs) and also guilty for looking forward to some time out. I am worried because he has been a bit of a grump most of the week and I can just see him getting into his full on inconsolable screaming. I am also worried that either he wont take the bottle or it wont be enough for him.
Goodness, what a nervous nelly!
Happymumma
05-06-2009, 07:59
Dont worry Kar if you werent a nervous nelly there would be something wrong lol I think lots of phone calls to "check in" are called for lol thats what i did i went out for a big grocery shop and to get some new clothes for me and i knew i would be unable to try clothes on with him there it would be too difficult i had the same thoughts as you is he gunna take enough bottle will he settle without me what if he starts screaming and they cant calm him down??? I called sooooo many times like 4-5 times in 3 hrs lol but it was all good i made my sister inlaw PROMISE if he got upset to call me !!! Dont feel guilty you need a break occassionally and you know what i felt soooo much better since then more refreshed and i missed him like crazy i know it was only 3hrs but you do thats what mumsdo they worry!!!
Any way enjoy your hair appointment if its 3 hrs im assuming you are getting some long overdue colour lol ,i had blonde foils that i loved and they were that out grown i didnt have the time to get them done so i got a woolies hair colour choc brown and put it all over now i have no foils :( But it is more low maintenance for me will get mt foils again when Jackson is a bit older and can sit happily and play while im at the hair dressers
Any way im bored and i think im just :ecomcity:

05-06-2009, 12:09
Oh TJ I hate those pimples up your nose! They hurt like nothing else, hope it goes soon. As for the bottom bits, I would get checked out with the doctor as there is something where bits do actually come out and go back in again, sounds horrid I know and I can't think what it's called but best to get checked out so you can work on fixing it.
So Mr J and I headed back to bed at 7am, and snoozed until 9 :) I'm still tired though, but can't see me getting a nap in anytime soon. He is in his cot squirming around and grumbling, he's so tired though hasn't slept since this morning.
Kar enjoy your hair appt! You will always worry been away for so long, we all would, but he will be fine. Enjoy.
Gah better go, he's screaming now. later..
So J did
10.30-3
3.30-6
6.30-8
sorry, but it is major pain is the a**, yes, i got like 3hours sleep in the first one, but didnt really get back to sleep after that:(
He hasnt been screaming at me like he usually does, is still spewing, but not too bad, doesnt seem to be hurting to much coming back up.
he's still feeding frequently, but is taking more (he's up to 150ml, was only doing 100/120) but its not taking him out out any further
he's screaming for a feed by 3.5 hours.

tommo glad your on i have found 3 packs of to of the mam stage 2 teats for 10.95 each do you want me to get them for you and send them over i on msn
Hi Girls,
TJ - I have a pimple up the nose aswell, not happy, its a bit owie
HNB - we has a shocker night last night aswell. Between Cady's shinanigans and DP's horrendous snoring I didn't even get to sleep until 5am and then I had to get up early anyway grrrr She was unsettled until 7pm, then up at 10pm, then up again at midnight, didn't go back to sleep until gone 1:30am so I was awake listening to all the grizzles and squawks and protesting, then DP's snoring started, I kicked him a few times, then she was up again at 3:30am and didn't go back to sleep until 4:30am and then I woke DP up and said I want to go to sleep, so he stayed awake until I dozed off so his snoring didn't keep me awake, then his alarm went off at 6am and then mine went off at 7:30am Blah...not fun...
DP said if he snores really bad tonight he doesn't mind going to the spare room  I can sleep THROUGH it, I just can't get TO sleep.
Kyleigh and Brooke - it was lovely to meet you both today, it's great to put a face to the name  and Nicola it was great to catch up again.
Well, I'm going to go, I refuse to cook tonight on a count of tiredness so its takeaway night tonight. Little miss has crashed out, she had a big day poor tyke. We were out for 6 hours today...no pysio though...she conviently called in "sick" this morning...hmmm wouldn't have anything to do with the long weekend would it???
oh and MIL phoned us up last night laying on the guilt trip coz we cancelled our visit down to grafton because everyone in the family has whooping cough. Yes, it is BIL's 21st birthday but um, this is our daughters life. I'm not risking her catching a fatal illness coz of someone's birthday, that's just insane, and neither me nor DP have had any boosters so we could catch it also. I normally get on so well with MIL but sometimes she comes out with the most annoying things :hair:
ok rambling and I'm a little cranky coz I'm tired.
PS - brooke, you got me in the mood, (that came out wrong didn't it?) I went to specsavers and got my eyes checked after coffee today and ordered some contacts on order and some funky new **** glasses that were going cheap. I've never bought funky glasses before, I always get boring rimless ones coz I feel silly trying them on but Jenna helped me pick them out ;) and it turns out that my eyes have gotten soooo much worse in the last 3 months, no wonder I get headaches!!!!

hey all:
tash i have bought you those elusive teats everyone has been chasing for you here we have heaps in target and kmart of stage 2 and 3 but hadnt found any stage 1 wierd how each state must be at a different stage in those teats lol well there here so ill message you to get you address and ill send them to you.
as for my doctor appointment i got the script for my lexapro and he also gave me a script for an antibiotic and said thzat if this is worse by next week to take them cos he doesnt see me getting better anytime soon especially having a baby you dont get enough rest to recover and as for my bum thing lmao i have to stick a cream in my bum for 2 weeks sooooooo gross as he said my giving birth may have given me an internal heameroid or something to that effect especially being i have quite a few blood blisters after birth and supposivly with such a i think he called it a traumatic birth is wasnt uncommon and i have to take adult dosage of the coloxyl so me and em are on some same meds but different dosage lol if it hasnt gone away by the end of 2 weeks of this stuff then i have to go back and have a colonoscopy done and may possibly need surgury depending on what has happened to my insides. my poor body.
so i just had the luxury of spending 120 bucks on doctors and meds (sigh) oh well.
hope everyone else is ok and healthy.
i have to find where a extra 7 thousand bucks has come from with our company as it adds up to be extra which is unaccounted for grrrr i hate this stuff but better get a move on i guess. chat later ladies and tash ill be intouch.

Evening ladies!
Well tonight's been interesting poor little lily got mega wind and was REALLY mad and screamed and screamed and screamed when I tried to put her to bed and then kept screaming when i picked her up and eventually after like half an hour or an hour or something of screaming my poor sore little ears off she did two MASSIVE burps and passed out on my shoulder instantaneously. Poor cherub. They really don't like windy pains do they!
Karice + kyleighb + nicola - nice to meet you all today too!
Karice - glad you got your eyes sorted not good that your eyes have gotten WORSE though! I had my fingers crossed for the opposite for you! Ah well at least you'll be able to see now plus no sore eyes knitting hopefully. Glad Jenna helped you she's my pal :) Did Scott do your eye test? hope your physio is all "better" soon so you can have your appointment! oh... and I think your MIL is crazy... I wouldn't be venturing into whooping coough territory if I was you either. oh... and hope DP doesn't snore so bad tonight... DH snores too. I kick him + ask him to lie on his side which he does which luckily makes him stop... boys are noisy sometimes...
TJ - ouchies on the bum thing. i have a sore bum thing too following birth for which I got cream + coloxyl but have just been putting off using either of them. not getting better but so i better use it too. i will if you will! TMI but you won't mind it will just make you feel less alone... mines a anal fissure. owies. is basically a split so it hurts + bleeds when I go. THE JOYS OF CHILDBIRTH! oh and I can't believe you found those mam teats that was a massive search effort put on by all you girls...
tommo - :hugs:to you! hope you get more sleep tonight. those short little stints of rest are a killer you need a few solid hours! heres hoping tonights the night...
kar - hope you enjoyed your hair appt + time out today! glad you had a good night last night sleep wise. hopefully that 40min settling thing was a once off cause he slept so well last night! maybe? fingers crossed eh! hope the day sleeps get easier too... what are you doing for settling now you're doing the cot in the day? are you patting / rocking the cot? just wondering. seems to be working well for Lily to pat her really firm but patpat patpat... like a heartbeat. just another random tidbit of info that may or may not work!
happymumma - love your name!
hubnbubby - ugh growth spurts are exhausting! hope you get your sleep back to normal too... same as for tommo the short burst of sleep ore yukky. :hugs: to you.
HI to everyone else. Hope it's all going well for you all!
AFM - uni work stinks. Lily is pretty. I am procrastinating :ecomcity:... gotta run!
Take care

Ok, following on from the successful scavenger hunt for the man teats, I am setting another challenge .
I love, love, love the outfit that B has in this photo but he has outgrown it (it was a 000) and I cannot find another one. I want one in a 00. It's from Kmarts organics range. If anyone sees one can they let me know? Thanks :)
Oh and :yelclap: TJ for winning the mam teat hunt.

05-06-2009, 22:13
hmm i thinkwe may have some of them still over here i will keep an eye out for you nomadic if they dont have them there i have seen them i think in best and less as well dont think they are the organic brand though.
newmummaofabub - i have to do mine my dh is already teasing me about it and it is sooo imbarrassing but he said if this doesnt work then they may have to do the colonoscopy cos after i sit down after my toilet trip i get stabby pains just under my belly button on the front ( not my back one lmao ) i mean the pain is more to the front of my boddy than in the middle or towards the back. so he said i could have damaged something of my tear was worse than they though so may have to have surgury. i dont mind the coloxyl but i not much for anal so sticking a tube and putting cremem in there will be gross mind you i had to do it for my front bit a couple of years ago cos i was getting changes showing on my pap and we caught is really early so it all normal now but yeah i have to get the cream tomorrow cos i got the wrong thing today. how long do you have to do yours for???????? mine is 2 weeks. well anyway i will do it so you better it for our own good ( i think) or they just want to laugh at us lol. the anal fissure thing sounds like what i get but i have something else there to. i always tear when i go to loo and of course then it just takes forever to heal.
Just Add Water
05-06-2009, 22:22
I've had the same thing a few times when I've gone to the loo.... honestly just thought I needed to add some more fibre to my diet... thinking now I should get it checked out. Just a word of advice on the coloxy... I've been told by adults that it causes really bad wind pain as it's working it's way through your system. Get some degas tablets to keep on hand to ease the wind, don't want to make your life any harder than it needs to be :) (I swear by degas tablets when AF is hanging about, makes cramps almost nonexistant!).
Hehe Nomadic! The Australia wide search for our much needed products, i wonder what will be next:detective: We're thinking of heading to geelong on sunday, il have a look at the kmart when we go there, fingers crossed.
(oh,il remember the degas for AF, had never thought of it, but id never never used it before getting preggers either! lol)
yes:yelclap:to tj, job well done hun!
Hi everyone! :)
Just a quick pop in from me tonight to say hi... I have only barely been able to keep up with reading everyone's posts this week.
Thinking of you all and hoping that those of you dealing with reflux bubs and/or sleep deprivation get some relief soon.
I hope to pop back in with some personals in the next day or so... in the meantime, have a lovely long weekend everyone!
I had to laugh at the Australia-wide hunt for mam teats and baby outfits.... if I make it to the shops this weekend I too will do my bit for the SA contingent of the shopping group!
AFM - been flat out this week and have not had time to post much in the evenings as Lily has been extremely difficult to get down. Last night when DH was out with his brother watching a band, Lily was up from 7.30pm to 1.30am (would snooze on the boob or in my arms but would wake as soon as I tried to put her down) - we finally went to bed together, DS2 played up in his cot for 2 hours (not crying just yelling out, throwing toys and reaching books on his bookshelf and tossing those around)....not the most relaxing evening. I know I should go to bed earlier and just take her in with me but after the boys go to bed is often the only wind down time I get or I try and do a few house things I didn't get a chance to do during the day. I think I need to change things to make it easier for myself though....
Lily's crying again so I better dash! Have a good sleep everyone and talk to you again soon!
Lisa :hugs:

I had an even worse night last night, how is that possible?! Jacob woke every 2hrs and was awake for 30mins so I got at the most 1.5hrs at a stretch. I was up 5 times!! He woke at 11:30, 1:30, 4, 6 and I've just got out of bed at 8:30!! My golly I hope this doesn't last long, he's normally so good. I hope it's not because he's in his cot now?
DH has gone out fishing for the day too, so I can't even hand Jacob off and have a nap. And my DH is the noisiest sleeper too, even turning over he wakes me up! He thinks we sleep on a trampoline or something and doesn't think bouncing around is a problem. And he's not a small fellow. And he is the worse snorer there is and sleeps with a c-pap machine which is also noisy.
Ha you can tell I'm sleep deprived!!
Time to head back to bed....
blah...another night of terrible sleep. I've got no idea what is going on with this child. She's waking up every 2 hours now and its driving me INSANE. I don't understand why she won't settle back to sleep all of a sudden.
its really getting to me when she's awake every 2 hours and DP's horrendous snoring (it sounds like there is a dying animal in the bed next to me) keeps me from going back to sleep for at least half an hour I'm only getting about 1 hours sleep at a time :crying:

Are any of you giving your bubs water? B isn't in a cot so he's generally curled up with me or DH and this week he has reverted to 2.5 - 3 hourly feeds (thank god I've long learnt to survive without sleep lol)... and he's also grizzly with his new tooth (yes, we have a tooth!!!!) so we've been keeping some water in a bottle and giving him that as well, he seems really thirsty for some reason, I'm presuming it's to do with the teething (increased temp, increased waste output & drooling galore)!
I'm quite chuffed this morning as I managed to get out of the house by half six to get to the markets. I was going to take Miss 6 & B with me but it was too chilly for them. I'll dig out all the warm suits for next week. Found lots of stuff that Miss 6 can eat, and spoke to some lovely farmers and bakers who have given me their information. I'm going to email a few of them and they're going to see if they can come up with some things I can buy to keep at home (muffins, cakes, etc).
Came home to find out the skanky ***** has decided it's too much trouble to have the kids today and wanted them tomorrow for a sleepover! WTF???!!??!! Does she not remember that we had the police there last time they slept over because she threatened to kill Miss 6??!! She was politely informed that no we have plans for tomorrow and Monday and she wouldn't have them overnight anyway... somehow this all became my fault (yet again ) and I got called every name under the sun, she and DH got into a big fight and she's like "Oh, I'll see you in court". Yes please!! My god she always says that but has never done anything - she might have to look like she actually gives a **** about the kids to do that. Then she sends DH a text saying that she wants to speak to the kids because she misses then... wtf! DH just wrote back and said well perhaps you shouldn't have gotten so wasted last night so you could have seen them today!! Stupid cow. I really wish she would OD or something.
Ok, well that's my rant for the day :o Off to try out some pumpkin scones. Yum!

nomadic i give em water and she seems fine about it just need the slower teats for the flow but other than that she is happy to have it i just do it inbetween feeds especially now it is cold season.
lol i put em in her jolly jumper this morning for the first time and she loved it mind you she had to go and fill her nappy with wees and poos so it was spread from back to boob. funny though mind you when i wiped her clean there was a tiny little bit of blood on the wipe so i am not sure where it has come from i had a look and wiped a couple of times and the amount was dropping off rapidly and then there was none and i cant find where it can from so gonna keep an eye on her cos i know bubs can get mini periods just after born cos there hormones give them a mini period but i wouldnt think she would get one again, i hope it wasnt the jolly jumper dont see how it would have made her bleed. well gonna keep an eye on it if it still there next week ill take her to someone as it is the tiniest amount if it picks up of course i will go sooner. any one else had this happen around 3 months of age i know she had the bleed at like 2 weeks but that was all till now??????????? please let me know.
NibbleCurlynBub
06-06-2009, 12:48
TJ, I'd consider taking bub to a Dr now, those hormones should be gone by now.
Anyway, Riley is doing good, he is grinning the place silly and sleeps ok for his age unless he has tummy pains.
He had his US last month and got the all clear so his little kidneys are working great again, yay! :smiliedance:
He feeds well, poops every now and then and he is starting to grow into his big cloth bottom better too.
Hey girls,
Sorry brissy girls I didn't make it along on friday. I had planned to quickly pop by the office in the morning to check my email and order something for dh to pick up, but then the phone calls started, the emails kept coming through all saying urgent, need now etc etc. So I ended up stuck there... all day:rolleyes:. We will have to organise another one for one day soon.
Better run, DD1 is bugging DH while he's trying to watch a movie, DD2 is asleep and I need a shower and breakfast, better make the most of the few minutes before they're gone.
Oh, we had a rough night last night too, day sleeps have been pretty much a no-go zone for most of the week(well unless you could a few mins here and there) - this must be a developmental stage because they all seem to be doing it at the same time. Exhausting though isn't it.
Jeca - sorry I didn't get back to you the other day, I'll do that today.
:iagree: jess, it must be a developmental thing
I'm a bit cranky this afternoon. Pulled out our highchair for Indie to sit(well recline in!) in while DD1 and I made pikelets. We lent it to my aunt in October and when it came back we put it in our office downstairs. Little did we know it hadn't been cleaned after being used so it was not n a usable condition. I've pulled it all apart, cleaned it throughly and have the insert and straps in a hot wash with some vinegar after being wiped down with clove oil. I spent at least 1 full day pulling it apart and cleaning every nook and cranny of it before I lent it to them and they had it for maybe a week. The least they could have done was tell me they didn't get a chance to clean it thoroughly and I would have pulled it apart to clean it again when I actually had the time to do things like that. Oh well, no point getting annoyed about it again, because it's done now. Just irked me because whenever we lend things to people they always come back in poor condition, broken, stained, scratched or just not even returned, but when we borrow something, we go out of our way to make sure it's returned in either the same or better condition than when we borrowed the said item and if it gets broken we would offer to pay for repair costs or a replacement. Oh well, lesson learnt - just don't lend things to people anymore!
Got to dash, dishwasher just beeped, DD1 needs some positive attention while she's behaving and I'm thirsty.
Oh while I think of it - is it a public holiday everywhere tomorrow or just QLD?

well em hasnt had any more of the blood stuff seemed to have been only a one off thing wierd but ill run it by my midwife tommorow see what she says.
em is in a very fowl mood today doesnt sleep for long which suck because i am crook as:barf: still in pjs and it is lunch time and i dont really care. and i know i not preg cos you need sex for that so that puts my mind at ease. how come emily who supposivly has no imune system had a little sniffle for a day or 2 and that was it then i get crook as only made it out of bed to my hubby on the couch happy it is that way around dont want her this sick but yeah wierd. dh made me the lemon and honey tea which was nice so slowly getting better as day goes on but by the tme i feel ok enough to do sometyhing it will be arvo and it will get bad again, was going to go to the kids and baby market today but though prob a good idea to try and et better instead as dh goes back to work tommorow so i need the energy to deal with em.
well anyways i think it is back off to bed with me or go and have a drink feeling really thirsty for some reason and i not taking the antibiotics yet so who knows. anyway enough of me babbling.

07-06-2009, 15:02
ok so seems like quite a few of you are enjoying the long weekend. i think that emily may have an ear infection not hugely bad but she not wanting to sleep has red cheeks and wont settle unless she is with myself or dh so yeah just did a read and said they normally go away in about 48 hours but to see a doc if symptoms persist after that time. doesnt surprise me i was constantly having ear infections as a child needed gromits and everything then burst an eardrum cos of one so yeah another crappy thing that emily has taken after me with.
gah, some ppl on this forum can be so rude and judgemental.
one thing i have learnt since becoming a mother is to not judge, we do not know the situation anyone else is in and their circumstace.

actually the public holiday here last weekend was for foundation day. the queens birthday holiday isnt until september / october (i know this for a fact cos its always around my birthday).
I have the most overtired little girl on my hands. DD1 has been a handful all day and in a foul foul mood, now DD2 has barely slept and is so overtired. So wired it's like she doesn't know how to sleep tonight. I don't think she's had a proper decent day sleep in about 3 weeks:hair:

so j has taken to screaming for at least 95% of his waking time, the onlt time he quiet is for a feed or if he is asleep, :dizzy:

Jess, it is just hell isn't it? We have been doing it now for almost 8 wks with a week off after the day stay where things improved a lot but are now going back to how they were. For the last week and a half we have gone back to no more than 40mins at a time and no resettling. The improvement is that he is now going to sleep not in my arms though and only taking about 10 mins to settle instead of 20 - 30. I have gone back to the pram though, attempts at the cot on the w.end were a disaster. Don't think he is ready.
Crystal, don't feel bad to say things are going well!
DH has to work today so no public hol for us. His company has new product release coming up and he has been working day and night for a couple of weeks. Hopefully once the product is released and they deal with the inevitable bugs in the first week or so he will take a day or two off.
Well, the good news on our front is that the dream feed seems to be helping with night sleeps. I have been giving him a BF between 10 and 11 and he is then only waking once before he gets up for the day. The long stretch has moved to after the dream feed which of course is really great for me. Only issue is that he will be BF without waking but won't take a bottle in his cot without waking up and wanting boob, so the plan for DH to do it at around 11 before he comes to bed is not looking like it will work out, but never mind.
It is completely odd - I can take him out of the cot feed him on both sides and put him back in without him waking but with the bottle he gets to almost the end of it and wakes up wanting boobs. Maybe I am not giving him enough? He also guzzles bottles in about literally less than 5 mins for 100mls.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend.
Just a quick one from me this morning, no time for personals im sorry :(
I've gotta get my butt in gear and start cooking something to take over for lunch at my dad's today. He had a party last night and was a bit miffed that we didn't come but it didn't start until 6pm and Cady's bed time is 5:30 at the moment and she'd JUST started settling back into her nighttime routine and I wasn't going to let anyone muck it up LOL
Well, we're 95% of the way there to leaving the swaddle behind forever. All of her night sleeps are swaddle free now (hooray I can rest easy once again!) Most of her day sleeps (when and if they happen) are swaddle free. If she's REALLY cranky (ie screaming) and not settling after 20 - 30 mins then I swaddle her and it seems to help, but most times she's been regecting the swaddle anyways. She's learnt how to snuggle (its sooo darned cute) so she'll either snuggle her teddy, or the blanket or me if we're taking a nap together in my bed. She's also decided that she hates sleeping on her back, she sleeps on her side now. Even if I put her to bed on her back, within 2 mins she's wriggled over onto her side in the feotal position snuggling her teddy. meh, whatever works...
well must dash, need to make a start on these sweet potato and leek frittatas :D

newmummaofbub - have you started your treatment yet i started mine this morning but was taking the coloxyl overthe weekend it is so wierd feeling and that is all i will say. so you better have started it or i wont be happy:shame:. only doing it so you will do yours. anyway i did the depression test today at my midwife appointment and it is as low as it has ever been it is down to 3 the lowest it was before was 8 so i am stoked meds must be working. also started taking the antibiotics for this flu thing i cant be bothered trying to get my body to fight it on its own and em is starting to get really snuffly now so i need all the help i can get to be better before she gets sick.
as for my end of year tax crap lmao i found a few mistakes but it has just made the amount i am missing double so i am about to make an appointment with the accountant to go over everything to help me out cos i think the tax office may notice a extra 13,000 dollars not that we are complaining we have it extra but they will.
tommo - so sorry to hear that your little man isnt well again or well has gotten worse.
happymumma - dont be silly you should be happy you have a happy baby emily is only just getting happy from being really sick so i am stoked.
lmao emily slept 10 hours solid last night without a dream feed or anything, my snoring woke up dh and he asked me if i had seen to her and when i said know he said he was worried i looked on the monitor and she was squirming and breathing so i knew she was ok but i let him go and make her a bottle and wake her up cos he was stressing then she slept for a further 4 hours when she went back to bed so yeah wierd but i am happy about it. mind you it could just be her cold thingy.
karice - that is so cute about the snuggling i havent given em a teddy or blanket or anythign to cuddle i have seen to many mums at there wits ends trying to find the same teddy or blanket cos they have lost theres and the kid is screaming blue murder. but she must seem so grown up doing all that mwaaaaaaa.:p
well thats it for me need to make accountant appointment and dentist appointment and hang out washing and so on and so forth. and do my lunchtime meds :( stupid things.

Afternoon all! Hope everyone that gets a long weekend is enjoying it :)
Karice - Jacob snuggles his teddy in bed too, how cute is it! I stick the teddy down my top so it smells of me and he tries to eat it! lol He also wraps his little arms around my neck when I'm holding him, ahh warm fuzzies.
You cook such awesome stuff!
our sleeps are still all over the place, I hope this grow spurt business doesn't last too long. He was better last night only woke at 1, then 4 but has had about an hour sleep all day so far today. He's rolling over too :yelclap:
O.k, he's passed out on my shoulder here, so gonna try put him down, pop back later..
ok, we may have figured some of J's problem out...
we changed him to goats milk, and he turned into the happiest pleasant baby! then we changed him to losec 2 days later, and stopped using zantac, well the zantac wore off and back came J's reflux with avengence!
we should have kept him on the zantac for 2 weeks worth of losec (as it takes 2 weeks to take effect)
so, we're starting him back on it at whe he wakes, i know it sounds SO simple, but in a sleep deprived state, nothing is simple:rolleyes:
he is sleeping alot better on the goats milk, fingers crossed we can get the screaming under control now.
so he is still screaming, but, hopefully there is light at the end of the tunnel
sorry, i havnt done personals, i am thinking of you all!!
please, dont anyone think they shouldnt post because they have a 'good' bubby, this is the only place i feel really comfortable talking about the trouble we have, and i never feel bad reading about how good things are, i just keep thinking, surly it will be us soon :)
sending lots of hugs and 's out there to everyone!
Hi all,
We had a pretty ok day today. Cady was quite grizzly by the end of her visit to see Granddad and Nanna V but all in all she was quite well behaved. She needed a nap about half way through, which as it turned out was us having lunch. Tried to put her down in the pram and she didn't want to know. Howled and howled and howled. So I was feeling a little self-conscious as I knew that everyone was hung over from their party last night (hahaha suckers... :p) so I sat her on my lap while we ate instead. OMG, she just started laughing and giggling and carrying on, it was soooo funny. We've got grizzles big time now though, it was all a bit much I think. Oh and the frittatas were a huge hit  I've got heaps of filling left over so I'm going to mix in some fettuccini and bacon and presto dinner is served. Too easy. :D
tommo - great that the goats milk has made a difference!!!
hnb - I know! it is soooooooo cute!!! I'm being carefull not to stick to the same blanket or toy, as TJ said, I've seen the problems that come from said toy/blanket going missing, it's not fun. My neice was given one of those bear comforter blanket things, OMFG it was evil. She had to have it in her hands 24/7, if you tried to take it off her to change her she would scream, try to wash it coz it got puked on, she would scream, take it away so you could clip her in the car seat, and yep, she would scream. My SIL (neice's mum) tried to tell me how "great they are" coz she calmed down whenever she was given it and I said, thanks but no thanks I don't really want one, please don't buy any when the baby is born. hmmm, maybe she just doesn't like me very much, or maybe she didn't realise how bad her problem with that damned blankie-bear had gotten??? Neice didn't calm down when she was given the blankie-bear, she was only screaming coz it was taken away in the first place!
tj - it sounds like your meds are helping you, I'm sure a good solid sleep has helped aswell  I'm glad that you're in higher spirits. I hope you can both shake off that nasty flu soon.
well, DP wants me to come snuggle up with a DVD with him, so I had better run.
BIG :hugs: to all

Karice - have you got your package from me yet? I have a tracking number so if you haven't I can try and find where it is.
Kar - I really hope you see some improvement in F's sleeping, just 3 weeks was driving me crazy. I had a better sleep last night and Indie had a bit of decent sleep today so I'm not at my wits end anymore, though was a little cranky when DH decided we'd go to his mum's place at 2:30 this afternoon 1/2 way through a nap! "she'll sleep in the car" he said:rolleyes:, umm yeah right! I hope your DH's product release goes well so that he can be home more with you again.
Kaz and HnB - That sounds so cute! Indie's just started cuddling a teddy today, actually stole it from DD1, so DD1 stole it back
TJ - Wow Em's sleeping has improved so much! I'm so glad to hear that her health problems have been improving.
Tash - Glad you worked out why J's screaming picked up again. :fingerscrossed: the zantac improves his reflux while the losec takes over.
HM - Wow Jackson growing up so fast! Eating already!
Eeyore - DD1 hasn't day slept since she was about 1, but when I needed a break I instigated "quiet time", which was 30-60mins of quiet time from each other, she'd get puzzles, books or a dvd while I got some rest on the couch. There was to be no talking between the 2 of us. Really helped when I needed the pick me up. Hopefully something like that could work(or DS1 starts day napping again for you!).
Well, I'm off to bed, exhausted again, feels like the story of my life atm, but I wouldn't change it(well maybe a few tweeks here and there:p)

Hi yummy mummies :)
Thanx ladies for the kind words im the type of person who doesnt like to say how good things are going when someone is struggling, but thanx for letting me know some of you dont mind makes me feel a little better bout it lol
Well solids are going slow.... which is ok he loves farax which is good tried apples and didnt much like them so will give them a few more tries and see how i go!
I spent all day yesterday and have to do more today pureeing (spelling??) and freezing thten ice cubing and bagging baby food!!!!! its so much more effort to do than just buying jars but hey better for them and cheaper!!!! plus its kinda fun lol
Jackson has a Blankie to it wasnt something we did on purpose it was just really cold here lately and he has been having the same blanket in his cot for the last 8 weeks and now he snuggles up to it and eats it too well licks it lol as soon as i put it near him he snuggles and knows its bed time and thats it out like a light!!! He doesnt have it during the day thou only bed times!
Any way good chatting hope everyone has a lovely day with peaceful sleeping babies (yeah right) lol best go have a shower and finish off the puree stuff , take care
Crystal
yeah i think the cot blankets are ok, it was neices toy bear blanket comforter thing, I've got no idea how to explain things well these days with my mush brain. It's not very big, hardly a blanket at all really, it wouldn't be much bigger than a damned tea towel with half a bear in the middle that rattles.
hmmm - I think I'm going to buy a bouncer today. I'm so sick of having to wait until Cady is in bed to do things like cook or clean the kitchen, which is soooo annoying coz the kitchen is right outside her room so if I drop anything it wakes her up anyway. When she's asleep that's when I should be having some me time anyway.

A swing is better than a bouncer I think.. We have the fisher price power plus swing (as does eeyore) - you can run it on batteries or the power point... B loves it and quite often has a nap in there.
Hi Ladies ,
I'm hoping i can join you here, i've been stalking this thread for some time and have gotten lot's of little tips from you all so i thought i'd come and introduce myself and stop being shy.
So a bit about me- I'm 24 and have been married to my wonderful hubby for almost 3 years. We welcolmed our beautiful DD Lillian into the world on the 12th of March.
As Lilly's our 1st we have had many testing time's with all the typical issue's- Sleeping, feeding ect but seem to be doing great atm (i know things can change very quickly hence the reason i added 'atm'...lol.) Lilly is a serial catnapper, but seem's to sleep pretty well most night's so i cant complain there, and after reading about a lot of you who have reflux babies i most definietly cant complain. We have some concern's about the amount she is spitting up after a bottle so i'm heading to the Dr's this Friday just to make sure there arent any issues that im not aware of. She's a very happy little thing most of the time and doesnt seem to be in any pain but she is spitting up quiet a bit so i'm wondering if there is something i should be doing for her (i do all the usual stuff- Make sure she's elevated when feeding, sit her up for 30mins after a bottle ect.)
So i guess that's a basic run down of 'us', i look forward to getting to know you all and sharing this crazy journey with you.
Hope you and you're gorgeous little one's are well.
:) xox
Hi March mummies I have had a name change but can't say who I am on the public forum for safety reasons... but anyways .
I see alot of you are having problems.:hugs: It's tough isn't it.
We have had alot of feeding issues, things got quite scary there for a little while but now we have been able to get through it and things are looking up. I am finding that I am finally able to do more things since DS2 started rolling about 3 weeks ago, he likes to be on the floor now and just rolls around merrily. If he is not on the floor though he is wrapped on me, makes life alot easier and I can barely tell he is there, I love my wrap!
We still have alot of sleeping issues, he barely sleeps longer then 2 hours which is exhausting but I feel for those of you who have to get up to bubs. I don't think I could cope with that! All I have to do is roll over and feed.
Sorry for lack of personals, there is soooooooooo many posts! Will try next time I post.
Hope you all have a great day, we are snuggled up on the sofa bed today in the lounge and with DS1 playing with his toys.
xx
nom - good to know. I was thinking of a bouncer coz I've seen one at big w that changes into a toddler chair so i'd probably get more use out of it. I think she'd only be in it for a little while at a time. It would just be nice to have my hands free when she's awake to do the dishes or get dinner started earlier. I'm sick of eating at 8pm!!! I haven't checked the mail yet to see if there is a parcel card. Our house is on a corner block and years ago our drive way got changed to the other street (and so did the front door) so our mail box is on the opposite side of the house and now there's a great big bush in the way so I have to walk out onto the road and around to check the mail and well...i'm lazy lol but i will check today :o
oya, you have me intrigued:detective: were you an original march mummy poster? hmmm:)
ticklepink, hi! you posted in one of my threads the other day;) im glad to hear things are going well, i know what you mean by ATM, haha, it changes in a heartbeat, lol. Sounds like you are doing everything you can to help with the spit up, she might be one of the 'happy chuckers', not all that nice, but at least not in pain. Some great advice is that it always looks like so much more coming up, so try and keep how much is coming up in perspective, lol.
Where abouts are you from?
karice, how have you managed to get anything done to date? lol, the bouncer/playmat/swing are great when i need to get dinner ready, or go to the toilet, lol, on the rare occassions J is happy on his own.
happymumma, im going to make our own food too, after looking into whats in store bought baby food, wowser, any wonder they've linked childhood fussyness (not eating anything but cr@p) to bubs fed by store bought baby food. no offence out there, i do far too much research into things, its shocking, im sure il resort to store bought from time to time too;)
newme, quiet time sounds like a nice idea for you and dd, hopefully help:)
So, the screaming has subsided to around half of his waking time, which is an improvement, hoping the zantac kicks back in soon.
The good sleeping only lasted a night, probably cause he spent the few days before that screaming constantly.
we went back to
in bed at midnight, up at 2.30, up at 5.30, up at 8:dizzy: just when i thought there was light at the end of the tunnul.
ok, best be off...

Hi everyone
Popping in quickly to say hi -have been reading but I have two sick little boys so not much time for posting.
Kar - I promise to send you an email about the book!! Pinkie promise!
AFU - I think Benji may have whooping cough - he has a terrible cough and sometimes it gets so bad he can't catch his breath and goes blue around the mouth - so scary. He also tends to vomit after coughing, so we are off to the doctors this afternoon to get checked out. For the Brissie girls - he wasn't infectious at the meetup, so your kiddos should be ok!! :)
The thrush is finally starting to clear up - Nilstat is crap, once we got on to the Daktarin gel it cleared things up in less than 48 hours!! Hooray!! I think DS1 may have it in his mouth now though, because he's got nasty mouth ulcers and isn't eating much (which is very unlike him). So I'll take him to the doctors too!!
Benji is doing really well at night, no real pattern though. Last night was a shocker because he's sick, but the night before that he had a BF at 830pm and then didn't wake up for a feed until 445am!! What a good boy! Although DS1 woke up twice in between then ... grrr for having a nearly 2-year-old who still wakes up during the night!!
Anyways, hope you are all well and getting some rest!
Kylie
P.S. Brooke, Karice and Nicola - it was so nice to meet you all the other day!!
Tommo.... yes I was.
Hi Oya and TicklePink - nice to cyber-meet you lol
tommo - hence me running around like my a$$ has been lit on fire when Cady sleeps  it's exhausting when I don't know how long she'll sleep for, so I zoomzoomzoom and try to cram in a whole day's house work in 45 mins or I'm up until bloody midnight trying to catch up on the day.
KyleighB - poor bubba, I hope he feels better soon
nomadic - I checked the mail :p no package yet booooooo maybe tomorrow? oh and it was a rocker and not a bouncer that I was looking at. I ended up buying it. Its the fischer price one that converts to toddler seat (up to 18kgs) and it had the vibrations and everything. The only thing I'm cranky about is on one side of the box it says that batteries are included (the side I looked at) and on the other side of the box it said batteries are not included (WTF?) so now I need to get batteries for it to make the vibes work and the musical toy thingo grrrrr
God I hate going to the shops...I go there to buy one thing and come back with twice as much D'OH! Miss has almost outgrown all her sleeping stuff and most of her day shirts. I ended up spending $50 on clothes and socks for her (none of her socks fit anymore....) granted everything was on special and I got HEAPS of stuff for my money, but it just annoys me coz I hadnt intended on buying that stuff. I bought a lambswool for her pram, the seats a bit hard (and big compared to her capsule) so I thought it might make it a bit warmer/cozier/comfy for her. I'm going to start going along to the D-Bay pram walking group soon so I need her to be comfy...
oh and dummies...ended up buying new ones coz her newborn ones are digging into her chubby cheeks and it leaves a mark. Plus she doesn't seem to be able to keep these ones in her mouth anymore (too small teat????) DP brought some the other day but they were MASSIVE (6 months to 18 months) bless him he got confused with all the choices... I hope she takes these ones, their the avent half cherry ones. She normally only takes NUK but they just jump straight to 6months and are damned hard to find anyways. oh well, if thats her only choice of dummy from now on I'm sure she'll give in ... eventually...
better run...need sustainance...:dizzy:
Tommo- I'm in Western Sydney. It looks like a lot of your girls are in QLD which is a bummer, it would have been nice to catch up with some of you but ah well. Glad to hear your little one isn't screaming so much anymore, I can't imagine how hard it must be for you, you deserve a big pat on the back (or a stiff drink..LOL.)
Karice- I have the fisher price newborn to toddler rocker too, DD loves it! We brought a swing aswell thinking it might help with her day sleeps but she hates it and will only sleep in her cot now so that was a waste of money....LOL. I mainly just plonk her in the rocker when I have things to do and she sits there quiet happily talking to the toys.

HEy Ladies!
Nice to meet you Oya and ticklepink  I too was a stalker until recently ticklepink... (you probably already know!)... anyways these ladies are all lovely...
WELL... I just drove in to uni and handed in my assignements due today! HOORAY! So now I just have to study for my exam next sunday. Boooo...
So one step closer anyways feelin pretty good about that.
Lily has just learnt to chitter chat a little bit!! Yay yay yay the noises coming out of her are so cute. I can see I'm going to be wasting alot more time now that she ooo's back to me. Who can resist gooing and gaaing with their little angel? NOT ME. And the smiles. Sigh... aren't they just beautiful ladies?
Anyway enough about how cute our babies are. We all know that!
Lily is realling getting the idea of this whole sleep in the cot in the day thing now. Hasn't been for every sleep what with being out and about but have aimed for at least 2 a day everyday. Always in sleeping bag with arms swaddled and sleepy classical music and have now left her for a few sleeps yesterday and today to self settle (after patting her until calm). Which she did! Oh my goodness and yay and all that. So getting there finally. Seems like consistency really does work for my little Lily. Now that she's getting the idea I'm gonna slowly start to loosen off the swaddle. I tried with one arm out the other day but she woke her self up with it after bout 20mins. I think she just doesn't sleep deeply enough in the day to stay still? Night sleeps are still swaddle free which is good.
TJ - Oh I am naughty and haven't started my cream etc  Good on you for actually trying to FIX your problem  I seriously need to though... I'll start tonight. Am nervous that the coloxyl will make me feel yukky or upset breatfeeding. Doc said it should be okay but I'm not very trusting!
Karice - Glad Cady is settling back into routine for you. I think a rocker is a great idea. When she was really little Lily didn't like hers but now sits in it quite contented for a fair while. Good for getting stuff done (including assignments... LOL) Sometimes she seems to just appreciate space to sit back and watch the world go by! As for spending money I spent like $65 this arvo on new clothes for Lily. All of her "nice" outifits that people bought her are either too small now or still too big. Little lady has long body and short legs so needs 00 bodysuits and 000 pants. LOL. Anyways got some cute things. Musn't go back to the shops for a while!
Tommo - Hope the zantac works again pretty quick for you. Screaming no time at all would be even better than half the time :) Poor little man... oh and fingers crossed for more sleep for you.
Kylieghb - hope poor benji is better soon too!
KAr - hows all the sleep/settling issues coming along? any improvements? thinkin of you anyways... :hugs:
Hi to everyone else that I have missed. Hope you are well  I promise to be more thorough with personals next time now that my assignments are done!
Take Care,
Brooke

well hello everyone all i can say is :eek:HOLLY HELL:eek::eek: I have just gone to walk outside and had noticed my cats making there stalking noise always do it when there is a bird or cockroach outside so i had a stick and **** me it is a ****ing HUGE orange spider wasp ( only know the name cos i had to find what it was as it is so rediculously huge it is in total about 5-6cm long and about 1-2cm thick and wa carrying this friggen big hairy arsed spider behind it and of course it drags it accross our back door in my reading they klill a spider like that take it back to its nest under the house which we have a hole right near where it was going that used to have a mouse in it and then they lay a larve on it and when the larve hatches it eats the still alive but paralized spider. THEY ARE BREEDING NEAR MY BACK DOOR AHHHHHHHHHHHH. here is a pic the closest i have found to it. http://www.geocities.com/brisbane_wasps/images/wpe54.jpg
:no:absolutly rediculous now i jump at anything that touches me.
newmumma of bub ewwww waaaaaaaar lol the coloxyl hasnt done anything to me the first time i used the cream though it made me want to go pretty bad but has been fine since you just kinda feel a little violated and like a poffiterol.

sorry that was ment to be a pic not a link crap im gonna bet in trouble.
 FB crashed!
DH is watching keynotes(for all those not mac addicts, it's basically a conference of all the new products apple are releasing in video form). I like knowing all the new things, but watching it is not my idea of a fun night in. The girls are in bed, the kitchen is clean, the lounge is still a bit of a bomb-site, but I don't really feel like cleaning it atm, because I can't vacuum it too. Lame excuse but I'm sticking to it!
Well we went for a lovely walk this afternoon, both the girls enjoyed it but it would have been a lot more fun if DD1 had let DD2 sit in the pram, but she snuggled down in the wrap and snoozed away for a while. I think the fresh air did us all some good.
TJ how scary! I'm not a fan of spiders, well big spiders. But I get shivers down my spine just thinking about snakes, can't stand them. DH and DD1 think it's funny to go and eye off all the snakes at the zoo and watch me freak out:rolleyes:. I hope you can get someone to get rid of the thing before any eggs can hatch.
Newmumma - I love the little chatter too. Indie's a bit of a quiet bub but will have a lovely long chat every now and then.
Kaz - That box was stupid! Why have the opposite things written on the same packaging?!? I hope Cady likes the bouncer.
 TicklePink. Welcome to the group! Always lovely to have new march mummies on board.
 Hi to everyone else out there who may have time to read but not post. Hope you're all doing well.

Tommo - done that here too :) Do it when he's asleep (easier said than done I know... if B's asleep I'm either asleep as well, sitting in a slump trying to breathe or getting something done lol).
:crying: we just tried cutting J's nails, and i missed, and drew blood:crying::crying::crying:
he screamed and screamed:crying::crying:
Awww no poor bubba! I think most of us parents do that at some point though if using those baby nail clippers. I just bite DS2's nails now whilst feeding him or I will just peel them away with my nail.
thanks for the reassurance Kris and oya, gosh, i feel horrible.
we did it while he was having a feed, his nice and limp and distracted!
:crying:there was tears from all of us, just when im trying to get him out of pain, there i go putting him in it:(
he seems ok now, i gave him some panadol.
i mite try biting them, stupid finger nails!

oooh... DH is going away for work tomorrow so I could order and then hide and bring it out one by one and he'll never know! LOL (not that he cares either way... I've just told him I've spent over $100 at gear4baby and he's like "Ok, hope you got some nice stuff".)
quick questions for the brissy girls:
How many blankets are you putting in bub's cot??? I'm paranoid that Cady will be cold. She's got her sheet, a thermal blanket, a fleece and then a cot dooner, and she sleeps in her sleeping bag and a thick fleece sleepsuit, but still this morning her feet were freezing???
We need to get a heater for her room, its been so cold the last few nights.
Also, does anyone have any advice on how I can keep Cady's fingers warm? She won't keep her hands under the blankets and then come morning her poor little fingers are like ice cubes :(
thanks girls
Nomadic I want DH to have your DH's attitude! I still haven't told him I bought 18 nappies in 3 days:o.
Kaz - She's in a wondersuit, flannel swaddle, thermal blanket with a cot quilt then the heater. Oh for the feet pop 1 or 2 pairs of socks under her jumpsuit. I don't have any suggestions for the hands though, if she's not a hand-sucker than maybe mittens?
Tash - We did that with DD1's nails. Well DH did it and hasn't cut her nails since(over 3 years ago). I think it's more the shock of it than anything else(for everyone involved). I found using regular clippers was much easier than baby clippers.
Both the girls slept well last night but I went to bed at 8:30 and DH was on a conference call on skype, while sitting in bed with his laptop. So I didn't actually get to relax until that ended at almost 10. Then he decided for some unknown reason to wake me up at 3:30:rolleyes:. Strange strange man.

the best thing to do for baby's nails at the moment is to just file them down with an emery board. thats what we do with ds2. ds1 bites his nails all on his own now.
Holy crap, maybe I am freezing F!! Here in Melbourne I have a wonder suit, cotton swaddle, 1 cotton blanket like the ones you have at the hospital and have just added a cotton quilted blanket. We do have the heater on all night but most of the time his room is between 15 and 18.
He seems fine, since using miracle blanket no worries about cold hands!! BTW, I think it is helping, no flailing hands since we have been using it and the last couple of days he has resettled on waking which he can never do if hands are out.
We use tommy tippee baby scissors and do his nails while feeding. We were peeling but I got worried about doing them back to far, I know how much that hurts when I do it to myself!! I agree that emery board is probably best.
Tash, I do think everyone does it once!
Kaz - sure do, although I have let mine get a bit longer for ease of maintenance. Have also gone brunette!! Still unsure about it, I have been a blonde for a long time. Will post some photos on FB soon.
The pure baby outlet is right near my house, we went on Monday but it was closed due to public holiday. We have so many hand me down gorgeous clothes but I have an urge to buy a couple of new outfits. My best friend is arriving from the UK on Saturday to meet him, needs to be looking his best as she is quite the stylish one!
We have had a good couple of days here, F has been getting a good morning sleep of around 2 hrs (with one resttling) and it really changes the course of the rest of the day for us. I think I haven't been keeping him up long enough and he is not a bub who must go to bed at first tired signs. He was accidently up for 2 hrs yesterday and went to sleep in about 1 minute when I put him down and that was the afternoon sleep, normally impossible. Just kept him up for 1.5hrs and he went down in about 3 mins with minor whinging instead of 10 mins of full crying.
BTW, Kaz, think you were saying you might get a rocker, just a warning, F is not that keen on his - too restrictive and boring I think, however, I do put him in it and cart him around with me while hanging out the washing, doing the dishwasher etc, otherwise would never get anything done! He is happy for a while as long as he has something to watch. He really seems to like doing the washing! I show him all the items before we hang them out, tell him how to do it 'properly' etc and I can normally do a full load before he gets bored.
I forgot to add, we have so much in her room because she has 2 windows in there and it's only a small room, so gets cold really easily!
Kaz - Yep, I've had that urge too and always regret it when I follow through. Lucky I have super fast growing hair!
Time to run!
cady's room is always the coldest in the house...really needs a heater.
she seems to like her rocker - im sure it will be better when i get batteries. we had fun while she watched me do the dishes yesterday  its only really for when i need a free set of hands to do stuff
tommo - i've been racking my brain trying to remember what those sleep aids were called...i know they were made by nyal and came in a purple box from woolies medical isle :o

Hi Ladies
Tommo- Yeah i read half the bottles of baby food and figured until he is used to basic flavours we wont waste our money on the jars i think the only one that has 100% anything in it is the apples! So for now he gets my puree lol so far i have carrots, pumpkin, pears, apples, zuchinni and potatoes!! So freezer stocked ready lol im such an orgainiser lol everything is in zip lock bags written on and dated lol my hubby thinks i have OCD lol i prob do hehehe
 Hi there to Oya and TicklePink !!! Nice to see our stalkers are slowly emerging lol and for Oya mmmmm interested in hearing more about you and bubs (to secretly figure out who you are lol)
Re : The blanket thing its been soooo cold here in Wollongong too i have a temp monitor so i try to keep Jacksons room at about 20 he has his jumpsuit on and a flannel wrap then a fluffly thick blanket(his fav) then as long as his room is ok temp he seems to be warm enough(we have the heater going most of the night and in the morning til the sun hits the house), cold hands we put mittens on him he sucks his hands sometimes but when the mittens are on it doesnt seem to fuss him he will just suck them lol so maybe mittens?
Re : Cutting nails we were biting for a while now we are using the Tomme Teepee clippers seems to be easier and his nails grow like crazy!!!! But yeah i can see how easy it would be to nick there little fingers they wriggle around so much it takes two of us to make sure he is distracted and still lol
AFU- We are doing really well with the solids he finished his whole bowl of farex last night, so he is on 2 courses now lunch and dinner will try carrots tommorrow hopefully he likes them more than the apples lol he makes some funny faces at the new tastes soooo cute!!!
Still no change in routinues or sleep not constipated so pretty happy bout that was worried he would change his sleeping or get constipated! And he is still taking all his full bottles so im not worried bout his milk intake , so overall i think its going well .
Its funny we got his highchair and its really quiet cool it can be a little table and chair set after he is finished in the high chair and it can also be a smaller high chair if that makes sense so we can sit on the lounge and feed him so quiet cool!!! Funny though he has to have it in the recline mode and the straps off cause they are too loose for him must be too little for it yet! lol wont be long he will beef out in it hehehe Was flicking through some FB pics our bubbas are growing so much they look like little men and little missies ! They are all starting to look like little toddlers now instead of newborns where did the time go!!!!
Any way im :ecomcity: :ecomcity: will stop now lol gotta go have shower and wii fit it !

My theory has always been its better for them to be cold than to be over heated as its much more dangerous. so i get paranoid about getting them too hot. Cale is in a wondersuit with a singlet underneath and flannel wrap over his legs and then cos he's in our bed he has our quilt, i've also sarted having the heater on low just to take the chill out of the air not to heat it up.
with the hands thing i thing its better to use kids socks rather than mittens cos they fall off to easy with the socks they will stay on and give them room to move their fingers inside. if that makes sense :)

karice lmfao no havent thought about chopping hands off but it had been really really cold here actually is it snowing nearyou or something anywho i put those mitten things on ems hands the ones you normally use to stop them scratching themselves and fill it with cotton buds keeps her hands toasty and i put on normal sock on her feet then her jumpsuit then some big fluffy night socks you can get them for adults to i think they called bed socks i put them over the jumpsuit then i put her in her sleeping bag and then on top of that she is under a quilt which is folded in half and in between i have a thich knitted blanket. hope some of that helps.

Gee poor J is going to freeze when we come to Brisi and N.Z in 3 weeks! We still have the air con going at night here to keep our room at a constent 25 d. Some nights are cooler and we just have the fan on, but he's in a long bonds suit and a grobag (1tog). His hands do get a big cool, maybe I'll try the socks.
Karice we have that rocker too, Jacob loves it but not for too long. He bangs his legs up and down to make it rock and has figered out if he pulls the handle the music plays :yelclap: We tied a toy to it so he can reach. We also have a few other toys hanging off it so he doesn't get so bored. He's not too fussed on the vibrations though. It's great for when we want to eat, he sits in there.
Tommo, you may remember when J was about 3w old I nipped his finger while trying to cut his nails. It was the worse feeling ever, I was nearly sick. I now bite them while feeding.
AFU I'm starting to get sick now, hopefully just a cold and I really hope J doesn't get it. Feeling a bit miserable though, sore throat etc. My DH has 2.5 more days of work left before a 5 week break, so I think I'm looking forward to that! He does annoy me a bit been at home over extended periods, my routine gets all messed up :p
Looking forward to going away anyway and seeing my family. Jacob has some very cute winter clothes he will get some wear out of. Speaking of sales, Nomidic have you seen the kounia-bella site? They have some lovely stuff and if your a member you get discount. I got 35% off my last order.
Better go, he's grumbling away..later.

emily always cried when she is either to hot or to cold so i dont worry about her anymore but her temp dropped down to 35 degrees the other night so out came everything it was one of the night it dropped down to 4 degrees or something at night bloody freezing and she had slept 10 hours dh was worried and woke her up and i took her temp and yeah. they always tell you to "dress the baby, not the bed" but you can only put them in so much before i see it being a problem for chocking and they cant move it away so i do both to the point where i think it is safe and she is fine.
i would have to say i havent nicked ems fingers yet cutting them but here has been a couple of times it has come very very close it really depends on what you feel ost comfortable doing some people let them grow till they pretty much break off on there own other cut them i am lazy i leave it till em scratches herself heaps and it starts to look dangerous then ill cut them but i dont cut them right the way back. anyway swine flu is picking up here so i am terrified so not really going out much at all anymore shopping day today and i am staying home only need milk cat food adn a carton for one of dhs friends that really it maybe i should stock up being some of our schools are this close to being closed only a matter of time really.
oooooohhhhhhhhhhh started my second aunty flow yesterday it snuck up on me but it hurts today no where near as bad as the first one though god that was horrible.
the pregnant man has had another baby bloody hell that is so wierd to think about.
newmummaofbub - sadly enough i cant take the credit for the profitterol comment dh came up with it when i told him he has such a wierd way of making em feel good and now wonders why i hide when i have to do it. as for me it doesnt sem to be doing much except make me poop more often so i can do the cream that really all so i hope it is only early days and it will go away:(
happymumma - i could see apple being a bit funny when cooked and mashed it has a wierd tinny type taste or i think it does anyway. i can see i may have some issues with soem foods as i dont like them but i want em to have a good range of food that she will eat so i guess i just need to harden up. my main thing is i hate cooked fruit lol see my prob. i have booked in to the next group on feeding solids just for a touch up on things as in my reading i have found alot and on my dvds aswell adn i also remember my bro and sis when they went on solids so i am pretty set but cant hurt to have a class thingy to i say.
as for hair comments i had a sudden urge last night to put big chunks of purple through my blonde hair no idea why but yeah luckly the idea has passed now but hmm dont know if ill do something like that or not and the reason will be "just cos"

hey everyone just wanting to know is there anyone in here using cloth nappies ?? well my cloth nappy story goes like this: when i was pregnant i flat out refused and said id never use cloth nappies i thouhgt they were grose and yuk but fast foward to having my precious lil girl and her being little all her nappies ( newborn) leaking and her poor lil butt being covered in a nasty rash( sensitive skin i guess) tried every nappy under the sun but then converted to cloth for night time and when we are at home ( i use sposies when were out cause she does not have them on 24x7 her rash seems to be only mild) but i have no idea about cloth nappies i have the old style fold urself ones but are there others out there what ones are best
sorry for the long post but i want a better type of cloth nappy

TJ - purple hey? sounds pretty funky ;)
misslouie - nope no cloth nappies here...I'm too lazy
well...socks on the hands it is. Executive decision lol. Thanks for all your help everyone. I priced heaters today, around $70 d'oh...
Oh and I booked myself in for a haircut tomorrow...I haven't had my hair cut since before Cady was born so that's like 4 months ago. I'm sick of having feral hair that's always in my face and 9/10 chance that it's only slung back in a ponytail anyways... My sis is a hairdresser and she keeps saying to me that if you wear your hair in a ponytail all the time then you are basically saying that you want short hair. I don't have time to do anything else with it so she's probably right. We shall see tomorrow.
so the physio seems to think that when I had surgery to repair my tear that they did my stitches up way too tight so I have a thick scar...yay for me...I've got some things to do to try to stretch it back out (fun fun fun...not) but I might have to go back in a few weeks.
g2g - dp home
Oooh Miss Louie, a girl after my own heart. After seeing Jeca's collection of Itti Bitti's, they just look devine and I HAVE to get some! It's really going to come down to what you like, your budget and bubs size/shape as to what's going to be best for you, but I'll give you my experiences.
AIO(All in One's)/AI2's(All in Twos) - I had AIO's for DD1 and they were good(I just had a bad brand), but they do take their time to dry. That said I have 4 Bumgenius and 4 BBH Magicalls on their way and can't wait to get my hands on some Itti's:D
Pockets - I like my pockets. Green Kids are my favorite pocket so far. I use these for bedtime. DD2 lasts all night in a GK with a bamboo insert and 2 bamboo boosters, this still lasts her even if she has a few feeds. I'd avoid anything with a insert that needs folding, like pea pods - just too much hassle for me personally.
Fitteds - I'm not a huge fan of fitteds, I guess because I'm lazy and can't really be all that bothered with covers, but I've got some BBH Hemp Fitteds on their way for "back-ups"/ bulking out my stash so I can be lazy some days and not do laundry. We'll see when they come if I become a convert. As for covers for fitteds, I'd go for PUL over wool, but that's because I'm lazy and can't be bothered with lanolising wool to make it water resistant.
OSFM(one size fits most) - These are good in the sense that most kids don't outgrow them so they'll last you the distance from NB to toilet trained. But they can be bulky depending on the kind.
Sized - Trimmer fit under clothes which I like, but you have to buy more as bub grows depending on how fast they grow and when they toilet train.
Materials to look for - polar fleece lining - keeps bub dry by allowing the liquids through to the absorbant layers. Personally I'm a fan of bamboo inserts and boosters, but they take ages to dry. Avoid anything stuffed with cotton - it's just not absorbant enough and you'll be changing bubs bottom more than you chance your facial expression!
If you have a look at some of the larger online stores(darlingsdownunder or nurturenappies are the 2 I can think of atm) have trial packs which have a few different brands to try to get a feel for what works for you(darlingsdownunder is called the recession buster pack). Or if you have some friends who are using MCN's maybe ask to borrow 1 or 2 different ones to try out and see what works for you.
Any questions, just ask away. I didn't venture to many different kinds with DD1, but am totally addicted now and enjoying trying out lots of different kinds.
Yay for the haircut Karice - will you post some pics?
Got to run, kids need bathing!

i like my baby beehinds minkys. i've got them in black, blue, green and red. havent used them on ds2 yet as i got mediums and judging by his bum it'll be another 6 months before i get to use them. i used bbhs on ds1 and loved them. i got myself the 'little squirt' and hooked it onto the toilet to make cleaning them easier as well.
Miss Louie I also forgot to say that there's velcro or snaps closures. Personally I like velcro - snugger fit, but some people complain about fluff in the hook side. I always fold back the laundry tabs so that isn't a problem for me, my biggest issue with velcro is you can't do a silent nappy change!

Karice - I rang and checked and it hadn't been scanned from my PO Grrrr.... so I went in there and it had fallen behind a desk - how bad is that?! They refunded me my money though so all good... on it's way to you, you should have it tomorrow. I put a jacket in there too that I accidently bought for Bayley in one of my ebay shopping sprees lol.
MissLouie - I was curious as well so googled it - A little squirt is a shower like attachment to your toilet that sprays the nappies into the toilet... I did some quick research on them, apparently they take a while to get used to but are good once you figure them out.
I was against using cloth nappies as I had lived through toilet training and that was bad enough... but I have bought a couple of the fitted ones from kmart to give them a go. Am yet to actually use them though as B is teething and it is not nice. And I am not that brave lol.
AFU - B was weighed today - he's 13 + 3 days and is 6.7kg (he was 6 at 8weeks) :) All his measurements put him right in the middle so he's doing well. Poor little man is not having fun with this tooth business though... he is so funny drinking at the moment as he just plays with it and rubs it against his gums so feeding takes a long time. He is basically just snacking. I think he sleeps about 2 hours at a time, has a feed for about 10 or 20 mins and then falls asleep again lol. I've never really kept track of his sleep though and we don't have a routine so no idea how different that is from normal. He eats when his hungry and I nap when I can :)
Will pop back later, grizzly boy wants mum (since Daddy has gone away and deserted us lol)

wow ur lil man is growing fast my little girl jemma is nearly 14 weeks and weighs 5.9kg she is going through the teething thing too but so far has been ok with it but does the same with her bottles chews on them has a bit of a snack then sleeps then repeats the process its kinda cute in a way..

ML - He's not doing too badly with it, he's a really good baby and generally only cries if he's hungry or if something is wrong. He's 2 days younger than your little girl :) We do give him panadol but not generally more than once a day. I've found that by massaging him and getting him completely wind free he tends to cope better with the teeth pain. Am looking into Amber teething necklaces though, have you heard of them? DH and I were laughing at the bottle playing, B keeps pushing it in and out and then smiling at me, it's like he's just discovered he can do that.

awww thanks nomadic :D thats so sweet. What colours do you usually dress Bayley in? (I'm guessing blue but don't want to assume ) I'll knit some funky pants and send them down to say thanks. Is he a big boy? I've got patterns for 3 months, 6 months, 9 months and 12 months... and your choices are plain pants or kanoko pants (kanoko pants are on FB) ooooooooh I saw some groovy camoflage wool the other day. hahahaha yay for knitting boys things, I always knit girls stuff coz I have 2 neices and no nephews (yet). Let me know your thoughts :D
newme - i may post photos depending on the outcome lol if its terrible then no. DP said he doesn't want me to go super short. Meh, I think I just want it off my shoulders, all it ever does is just "hang" there and look feral and I hate it. I might take it up to my cheeks/ears with some layers through it so in the mornings I just have to run my hands through it and I'm done if that's all I have time for. I swear the amount of times I've run out of the house, unbrushed hair and tying it back at the traffic lights...so embarrasing...I've had short hair once before and loved just having to run my hands through it with some wax and I was done :D
ohohohoh now I'm excited !!!!!!!!! :smiliedance:

ok so i have stuff up tonight dh has pretty much work since 5am this morning it is now quarter past 9 in the arvo and he has another 2-3 hours to go adn i couldnt be bother cleaning so i ordered pizza the one i always get happened to be garlic PRAWN and within half an hour of eating half the pizza i have the most wickedest cramp ever and could probably poop through an eye of a needle. doesnt help with my rear end problem either keeps getting blocked so i have been to the toilet 4 times so far in the past 20 minutes sooooooooooooo not happy. pains felt about the same as my first menstration after having em when i was crippled in hospital in pain and had a nurse look after em till i could see adn walk properly stupid pizza well teaches me for taking the easy path for dinner just told dh to get something for him on the way home cos i not gonna let him eat it.
my mum is sick AGAIN and the doctors still dont know what is wrong with her GOD anywho i am having a really bad brain malfunction rightnow and cant think of the actually reason i can to the computer so i came here then i started to type and now i cant remember whati was actually going to say so i am going to go again and do some more cleaning maybe more of ems bottle, its to quiet in this house without dh here.
how do you's wash them do u just do the same as normal cloth nappies ???
Depends what you do with your cloth - do you dry pail? MCN's don't need to be soaked, in fact don't use chemicals on them. Just dry pail them, wash with 1/2 amount of your normal laundry powder and dry them on the line in the sun. If you don't wash everyday a rinse before pailing can't hurt. Most places will send or email a care sheet with them. If not they are available online. If you can't find them I'll put up some links for you.

 Thanks for thinking of me. Lucky for me that site ALWAYS crashes safari. I can get onto it and click into the shops section, but can't look at anything past the first page. But I do keep hearing they've got lots of great bargains.
Better make myself a hot choc to warm up. I'm in insomniac mode tonight, been up since 2. But I caught up on a lot and cleared at least 50 emails from my inbox. Also replied to a bunch of people who'd be hassling me for stuff, so at least replying in the wee hours of the morning they now may understand when I say I have no time in a day that I literally have NO time in a day, and hopefully stop hassling me so much:D

Morning Ladies
First thing... Lily slept through! Hooray! In bed at 7:30 dreamfeed at 10:30.... first heard from her at 6:45!!!! I gave her an extra blanket + turned the heat up so I don't know if maybe she was getting cold which was making her wake up at 4 or 5 normally. anyways may be a fluke but i am happy to enjoy the moment! and she is asleep now without her swaddle. even better :)
Second thing... Karice you are seriously making me consider chopping all my hair off...
Third thing... does anyone else have relatives who expect you to change bubs routine to suit them? Anyways so my SIL is too busy to actually visit on a weekend or during the day when it would be convenient... so I figure it's obviously not a priority anyways. But she's whinging cos she hasn't seen Lily in ages so can we keep her up later at night so she can come visit her?!?! Which totally annoys me because it's all about what's convenient for her when little one's just getting into a routine that's kinda working and I just feel like SHE should matter too. Anyways :ecomcity: :ecomcity:. Sorry had to vent she's just annoying me.
Fourth thing... I admire all you cloth nappy using ladies :yelclap: I'm also too lazy!
Have a great day... I'm off to mother's group this morning! Kinda looking forward to it?! Gee I'm turning out to be a different sorta mum to what I thought...
Take Care Ladies hope you are all well!
Brooke
Brooke, I know what you mean, I really look forward to mother's group and am a bubhub addict. Both things that are very 'not me'. DH thinks it is hilarious!
Too lazy for cloth here too.

newmummaofbub - we do it is oretty much 99% of our family cant come up to visit cos they have birthdays this month of friends they havent seen in a week but expect me to drive 5 hours so they can see her HA unlikely and dhs dad and stepmother is heading over in august and from what dh has said from last time they were here ( before i even met dh ) they wanted to do what they wanted and he had no choice and if he said no they cracked the ****s so i am setting myself up to put my foot down when they are over.
my opinion is if they cant make an effort for us then i cant make an effort for them bub is more important to me then there petty arrangements.
ide tell you sister she is welcome over anytime and if bub is asleep well bummer and that she can see her while sheis asleep and not touch her it is her prob if she cant make the effort. sorry if this sounds blunt but i just had a big upset with my folks so i annoyed by and other expectation.
Hi Ladies!!
I've been reading along for the last few day's but havent had the chance to write so i thought i'd jump on while Lilly is having a nap. Thanks for all the lovely hello's/welcome's i feel like i already know you all (maybe coz i've been stalking you guys for ages...lol)
newmummaofbub- YAY for Lilly sleeping through, maybe you're Lily can have a word to my Lilly and tell her it's really good to sleep through the night and maybe she should try it. I can so relate to the in-law's trying to make you change bub's schedule to suit them. My In-laws always want to come over in the evening but we say no so then we have to listen to them whinge that they never get to see her and blah blah blah. Pffft too bad i say, they dont have to deal with her when she's screaming the place down coz she's over tired!
tjanitzeski- :hugs: Sorry to hear about you and you're mum being sick, hopefully you both feel better soon.
Nomadic- How old is you're DS? Just wondering as you said he's teething and i was going to ask you ladies when your babies started teething. Can you see/feel the tooth?
Kar- I was thinking about getting a miracle blanket for Lilly as when we go into her in the morning her arms are out of her wrap and her little fingers are freezing!! She's 13 week's old now so im not sure if it's worth getting one as i dont know how long she'll want to be wrapped, at the moment she wont sleep unless she wrapped but she's quiet long so i wonder if the miracle blanket would be too short KWIM?
Happymumma- Gald to hear the solids are going well, i cant wait to start giving Lilly solids, i'd have no idea where to start so i'm sure ill come and bombard you when the time comes.
Tommo- I did the exact same thing when i cut Lilly's nail's. I was cutting her thumb nail and clipped the side and it started bleeding :crying: when i had a look at it there was a bit of skin hanging off, i think i cried more than she did...lol. I vowed never to cut them again after that and now i bust bite them off while she's having a bottle.
Not much to report from me, Lilly normally sleep's about 11 hours at night only waking twice to be fed but last night she went a bit off the rail's and woke up quiet a few time's so we're feeling a bit blah today. I went to the Dr's about her spitting up and he told me to get some thickener and see if that helps her so i went to the shops yesterday and tried it last night and this morning and things seem alot better. She only spewed a tiny bit but she was feeding for quiet awhile maybe because it's thicker and taking longer to get out?
Sorry if i missed anyone, i'm in a mad rush as we have friends coming over for lunch and i still havent had a shower.
Have a wonderful day, :hugs: to all!

 thats how i'm feeling about the high chair atm! The rocker seems too boring for Indie, she's down low, DD1 isn't interested in her when she's down low and so she just gets left to stare into space. But the high chair, well DD1 is constantly talking to her and playing peek-a-boo, plus she can actually see what I'm doing. Much happier bub.
For everyone saying they're too lazy for cloth, for me it's the opposite, I'm too lazy for disposables - I hate going to the shops so avoid it at all costs plus having to remind myself to empty an extra rubbish bin each day... I'm a bit forgetful:o. I know I do a load of washing every 1-2 days anyway so for me to use cloth is far more convenient than disposables(except when it's pouring down rain for days at a time, then it's a challenge!). Each to their own, funny how we all have such different views and different conveniences.
NMofB - Yay for Lilly sleeping through! Do you feel like a new woman:D
TP - Glad to hear the thickner is working. I have no advice on teething as DD1 was a silent teether. I only reason I noticed her first tooth at 9mths was because she opened her mouth extra wide for lunch, I saw a white spec and when I felt it she bite me:laughing:
NMofB and TP - I totally get what you mean about people wanting to change bubs routines - happened with DD1 but they learnt when she just screamed from being overtired for the whole time, now we don't get bothered about things like that;).
Got to run, so much to do in the office today:rolleyes:

as for the nappy discussion i am for disposable and to avoid the shops i buy in bulk when on special and i have one of thise tommie tippie nappy bins it is full the night before bin day so i just empty it into plastic bag ( prob donthave to being they are all kinda already in one ) and straight into bi bin and i can never smell it, it would drive me crazy having cloth ones i thuoght about it but it wasnt for me i hate washng as it is. yesterday i bought 100 bucks worth of formula ( 5 tins) of ems AR as kmart had them on clearence for 19 bucks each still with a year or 2 date on them so i say just no one was buying them lol so i bought them all.
newmumofbub - yay for lilly sleeping through em is kinda close but not really at the same time lol but she has just jumped up to wanting 180mls of milk so maybe she will sleep for longer now who knows.
ticklepink -with the thicker milk i got em the fast flow teats or the cross cuts cos it is easier for her to get the milk out otherwise she gets crabby and i have found the old teats that dont have the hole in the sideand flat on the other side thoseones dont go to well with the thicker formula. just some suggestions from someone who has there little miss on thick milk. hope it may help.
afu - i am about to head of to a mums group in a nice warm play centre yay it is raining and misserable here but em gets to wear her really cute waistcoat thing itis hell think and warm wish i had one:( dh worked 17 hours yesterday adn then go up and fed em at 4 she a love i slept through her till he got up so i felt bad and that is when i had to give her the extra milk cos she kept crying after she had finished her bottle and she gfell straight back to sleep. well anyways i better go get ready she is ready im not.
YAY I GET TO SEE EMS PROF PICS TODAY SOOOOOO EXCITED.:smiliedance::D

Hi lovely mummies:wave: thanks for explaining how to cahnge my pic got it all sorted now...
ok now i am going to attempt to start getting into writing personals
Nomadic: glad to know ur lil man is coping ok with the teething jem is going ok she isnt really heaps sooky or anyhting she just likes to chew on everyhting especially her hands and the bottle thing i also think she just does it now cause she knows it gets a reaction from everyine cause it looks so cute
Karice: i always think of chopping my hair off to the point where i make an appointment go down there and then chicken out but one day i will do it and im guessing now is as good of time as any as jem has discovered mummy makes noises when i pull her hair cheeky lil bugger. i love our rocker too we have the bright starts pink vibrating/music playing rocker and it is a godsend especcially when u have a overtired baby jem just cant stay awake with the vibrations and music she falls asleep everytime shes in it with them on ouch on the stitches thing that would be uncomfortable for you
TJ: wow hope ur mum feels better soon and they can diagnose what the problem is for her lots of :hugs: for you and your mum
as for the pizza mmm sounds yum but obviously it did not agree with you i think that sort of pizza would have the same affect on me but sounds so nice. yay for seeing the pro pics i love the professional pics of babies i think they all make the bubbies look gorgeous even though all the bubbies are already gorgeous.
New me: ok now i need u to explain what dry pail means? i have no idea what that means with the old style cloth nappies i use now i soak them for 2 hrs then place in a bucket of cold water then wash when there is 12 in there however i do some sort of washing everyday so that would not bother me hving to wash everyday and i too love the highcahir we have for jem she also loves it it sounds similar to yours ours is a steelcraft messina thanks for all the advice on nappies i am much more educated on them now:yelclap:
Newmummaofbub: great on lily sleeping through isnt it bliss when they start to do that jem sleeps 12-14 hrs staright at night  without a feed she is a great sleeper. i also love going to my mothers group i like u never thought i would but now i love it and look foward to it every week.
Kar: i am now turning into a bubhub addict too oh and i am also addicted to ebay which is really bad having the convenience of buying things and not going to the shops appeals greatly to me and i just cant stop buying things
Tickle pink: hope the thickner will work for lily and she keeps more of her feed down
eeyore: thanks for the help with the cloth nappies i am much more infomed and know a bit more about them now so thankyou
AFU: well my little jemma has a infection poor little critter although she is still in a happy mood which is good the only reason i knew soemthing was up was she had a temp and she
had runny poo's so took her to doc and they gave her an oral antibiotic at the surgery so hopefully she starts to feel better had her weighed while we were there is she weighs 6.1kg and is 14 weeks old tommorow so thats 200g in nearly 2 weeks so im happy with that weight gain:yes:
is anyone planning on doing a christening or a naming day we are doing a naming day for jem in probaly september so that should be good
well hope everyone is well and looking after themselves
Is anyone else's bub just absolutely not at all interested in toys? DD1 had a lot of interest at this age and younger, but DD2 just isn't at all interested. Every now and then when she's in her play gym she'll get excited and bump the toys but nothing really deliberate. She just bumps it then stares at it with a look of "oooh how did that happen". She can hold a rattle if I give it to her, but she's not interested in shaking it or reaching for toys, hates tummy time but will quite happily sit on my lap and we smile away at each other or look in the mirror and she holds her head fairly well when she's sitting.
ML - I'm single handed atm, so copy and pasting here from the australian nappy network page(a not for profit organisation who promote cloth nappy use) : Let Your Washing Machine Do The Work...
Reusable nappies don’t need to be soaked anymore. Just flush
any solid waste, then store nappies in a securely lidded bucket
until wash day. “Dry-pailing” is easy, chemical free and safe.
It takes the fuss and smell out of using cloth nappies and does away with the inconvenience and hazards of a bucket full of water. On wash day, just wash your nappies with a small amount of detergent. Sun dry as much as possible. The sun naturally bleaches stains and sanitises your nappies.
TJ Wow what a long day for df, self employment sucks sometimes hey!
ML I hope jem is on the mend soon.
hitting a brick wall with tiredness this afternoon and was on the phone so the lunch truck left without me getting anything:(

Pfft to doctors I say. Pfft! Pfft! Pfft! B was diagnosed with a heart murmer at five weeks when he was in hospital and I was told that it was most like due to him being sick and to get it checked out again at about 12 weeks... (this from the wonderful pead who delivered my boy, looked after him in SCN and then we were lucky enough to see when he was in hospital)... so I take him to the GP today and tell him "B had bronchialitis when he was 5 weeks old, diagnosed with a heart murmer, been recommended to get it checked again by our GP". He asks me what is meant to happen after that??!! (Seriously, he did!). So I said, well then apparently if it's still there we will need to see a specialist... so he has a listen for a minute or two, tells me it's too hard as B is moving and chatting and that it's not his area of expertise so he'll write me a reference to a pead to get it checked... do I have the name of the one who told me to see my GP? So I left $60 poorer with a referral to see the guy who told me to see my GP in the first place. Pfft! Pfft! Pfft!!!
I could have done that myself.
What a waste of your time, and on a side note - Why don't they bulk bill kids? Every doc I've ever seen has always bulk billed under 16's at the very least 8-4 mon-fri.

They used to but stopped recently. It's all about money. I go to a medical centre as they all used to be good but seriously am going to start looking around again as they keep changing.
i hate when that happens! i had an awesome gp who left then umped around for a bit but they have a few ok ones now.

how frustrating is the whole doctor thing that u are going through nomadic my doctor i cant really complain about she does not charge for children under 16 and for adults you only play the gap whihc is $15 and when u get the medicare check you just take it to the doc next time u visit i think all doctors should be like that
however the other doctor charges $70 a visit and u have to go to medicare to claim the rebate which is ok as i am in the situation to be able to pay that out however i understand there are people who cant pay that money upfrint and there kids miss out on medical care for that reason which i think is horrible all children should be entitles to free medical care anywhere.
:thumbsdown::thumbsdown: to al those nasty doctors who seem to have got there licences out of a coco pops box.
I've hit a brick wall this afternoon. I'm so so so so tired. I'm a 10 hours sleep a night kinda girl, so I struggle with night waking at the best of times but DH woke me up at 3:30 the other morning from which I didn't get back to sleep then I couldn't get back to sleep after our 2am feed this morning. At least I had the fore-sight to cook dinner this morning(and it's chilli con carne so lasts 2 nights in this house). I thought DH was going to make it into the office this afternoon so I could go home and take it a bit easy but he's been called a customer who's 45mins away so I'll need to wait here til 5, lock up, pick DD1 up from kindy, which all happens during the witching hour so DD2 screams the whole trip til we get home and she gets a boob in her mouth again to which she promptly falls asleep long enough for me to get dinner on the table, lord forbid I ever get to take a bite of it while it's even mildly warm(mmm cold nachos:rolleyes:). Grrr. Oh plus I need to take the washing off the line when I get home and make DD1's bed before bedtime(which is 6:30). Worst part is the customer who DH has gone to see is quite a good friend too so I'm 99% positive that the 2 of them will sit and chatter while they work so DH will probably get home at or after the kids are in bed.
Sorry, just venting here. I'm shocking without sleep, I don't know how I got to 3 1/2 months with DD1 before taking action on her night waking(we're talking waking 6-8 times every night for a feed, I was exhausted and juggling working for my dad).

NewMe - does DD1 have a sleeping bag? That's what our kids sleep in when I really can't be bothered making their bed after doing the sheets... they love it and get annoyed that I only let them go 2 nights at the most without sheets lol.

Newme - I wish I was there to give you a hand in all your errands, I'm sure it's the last thing you feel like doing with all your other things to do. You are one busy lady and no wonder your tired! Hope you get some rest soon love (yeah right your thinking!)
You should write a book on mcn! What happens when there is a really messy poop if you don't soak? Only asking cause Jacob seams to have the runs at the mo, and my goodness we make a big mess every change time, I couldn't imagine just sticking it in the washing machine. As it is my change table cloth is in the soak! Because it's liquid it would be hard to flush down the loo, but he really fill's up the nappy and then some.
Jacob seams to really respond well to books, colours and music but not necessarily individual toys.
I've been keeping any eye on his temp, seams o.k but he's a bit miserable poor wee man. He's had the runs all day after every feed, and seams very unsettled. I'm getting sick (just stuffy nose and sore throat) so really hope he's not. Do you take them to the doc just when they get a temp?

You take them to the doctor when you want to :) Bayley got the runs before this teething malarky started... ho hum, you're in for some fun!! lol
Thanks girls, I'm just tired and venting away but your lovely words have refreshed me enough to pull me through these last 2 hours til bedtime:D
Kaz - hows the haircut?
HnB - if its just liquid a rinse then wash and dry in the sun:) I hope Jacobs feeling better soon. i find indie has days where almost every change is a poo, but then days she won't go at all:confused:. btw jacob is the only boys name dh and i have ever agreed on but cant use because the little boy across the road is jake and we feel like we'd be "stealing" his name. love it:thumbsup:

Hi Girls!!!
Nomadic - the parcel arrived this morning Thank You!!! :hugs:That jacket is soooo cute! booo to the doctor.
Newme - Poor bugger, it must be so hard to juggle the girls and your own business on next to no sleep. If I don't get much sleep I can barely function in the house, I couldn't imagine having to deal with customers and clients as well! You're fantastic!
HNB - I hope Jacob gets better soon poor lil bunny.
well, just a quick one before we bath Cady and start dinner etc... I loved getting my hair done today! The girl that did it was so helpful and chatty. It's all chopped off and some highlights also. woohoo
g2run...miss is being annoying and wont sleep as usual
okey dokey, im still here, reading, lol.
J was nice enouh to sleep from 11-4.30 then till 8am, thank goodness, i needed a catch up to keep me going! he's still been a fair handful, improving since back on the zantac, but still pretty tough.
eek, TMI Q, j just did a poo, it was alot firmer than it shoud be, but not pallets or anything, but firm, it had bright red bloody moucus throught it, i dont know if he's strained too much to get it out, or something more??
i think out of everyone in my mums group, im doing the worst:(, thers 2 others with bubs that dont sleep well, but the rest have got bubs that feed and sleep pretty consistnely (with not much crying at all). so thats hard, not having someone to realte to, but they are nice.
miss louise, ive got the messina highchair too, j sits up in it at the moment, i think he just likes a different perspective!
newme, haha, J gets bored with me! he'll whigne, il pop him on his playmat, he starts batting his noisy toys, and smiling at them, adn he's happy, strange child...
ah, im a sleeper too, so not getting my sleep just kills me, boo.
tj, they are discontinuing the Karicare HA and replacing it with HA with probiotics. So pick it up where you can, check in the bottle feeding section, there is a thread re ha/ ha ar, and whats happening with them:)
nomadic, i agree with newme, i thought it was law to bulk bill kids under 12? boo the doctor!!
ticklepink and hubnbump, thats exactly what i did! that thumb nail is very deceiving, isnt it! oh, it was horrific, felt soooo sick and like the worst mum ever! i feel so bad just thinking about it, just as well he heals quick!
brooke and kar, *puts hand in air*, mums group and bubhub addict too. I think just as workmates sort of become your life as they know what you're up to all day and can empathise, we;re drawn to mums group as they can relate. We have proper mums group on wed afternoon, and theres like an open one we organised at a local cafe on the lake on fri afternoon. thats open to anyone with bubs, its getting quite big now! one person tells a few freinds, and on it goes, and its a 'small' town, so word gets round quick, lol.
tickledpink, with the thickened formula, dont heat it up, as its designed to go in at room temp, then thicken up when heated (in the tummy). as tj said, up the size of your teat to help her out as its still thicker than regular formula. hope it improves the situation!
misslouise, ah, we have to get round to naming/christening, but im a bit of a home body at the moment cause j is so unsettled, hopefully his med's will kick in and make it a bit easier to organise it! i honestly dont know where to start though!:o
karice, yay for the rocker, as i said, how you managed without? il never know, lol.
newmumofbub, ha, my MIL expects to call round at 5.30pm and see J and be 'entertained'. boo you, he's sleeping, im trying to organise tea, myself, bath, feed, ect for j, before he turns phyco (reflux=screaming). actually, most of dh's fmaily expect me to wake him, they get firmly told otherwise these days, let me tell you!
ok, thats about as far back as i can muster, i have lots of invoices to write out!!

After me saying how warm it has been up here at night, Jacob has a nice big blankie on top of his grobag tonight. Last night was pretty cold and when I fed him at 3am his little hands wore frozen. I put some socks on them - great idea who ever's that was
Newme - Aww thanks, you know alot of our friends and family were quite surprised we named him Jacob and hardly anyone say's it's a nice name. They all thought we would have a more 'unique' name. Jacob was never even on our list but DH popped out with it when he was born, and it was perfect. We love it anyway, DH likes Jake but he's yet to call him that. I'm sure your neighbours won't mind if you need it in the future ;) It's funny too, cause I've always loved Indianna (Indie) lol.
Kaz- Love the new hair! Looks lovely, doesn't it feel so good to get a new do. I get mine done every trip to Brisbane (don't trust anyone up here in hicktown) and can't wait for 2 more weeks. I'm going to go blonder too.
Tommo - Humm not sure on the poo sorry! Talk to me about baby poo and I will be able to help he he I've pretty much been covered in it today. Oh and wee'd on but that's not so unusual either.
I really wish I had a propper mothers group to go too :( boo me. I've joined the local playgroup but Jacob is the youngest bub by about 6m and all the Mum's there know eachother and I kinda just sit around watching. That's one big thing I miss about not been in Brisi. There is a sort of mothers group our health nurse is trying to set up for new mums, but well I was the only one who turned up last week.
Oh I sound so negative. I'm not really, must be my stuffy nose getting to me and grizzle bum all day. Least he's asleep now, he actually doesn't resist going down now at night in his cot which is great. I put him down and he's happy to chat away to his mobile for awhile and drifts off himself. Last night I checked on him, he had his bunny on his head and was fast asleep. K, rambling now....
i should have put the j in capitals, its
j's poo im talking about;)
wow...quiet today...
wanna say hi to some of the girls we haven't heard from in a while

Morning Ladies
Well haven’t been on for the past couple of days been doing major spring-cleaning at home!!! You know how you have like one junk area well we have like a whole junk room its our spare room, well been cleaning that out SLOWLY lol so it can actually be set up as a guest room, so now I have our sun room as a junk room hehehe moved it from one room to another lol nah will tackle that room later.
Well it’s been a while since I did some decent personals so here goes.
Some of it may be old cause I had to catch up on a few pages I missed
Hubnbubby- Tell me about it my DH just had 4 weeks off and went back to work yesterday I was a little relieved he is a pain when he is at home with me all the time lol but I did love the help with bubs :)With his work thou he often has big stints at home which is good but when he works its often away somewhere and REALLY long hrs but the money is awesome and if it keeps me at home with Jackson I cant complain!!Im with ya bout the mothers group I gave up no one was turning up to the one in our area and when they did it was quiet boring so I treat this like my mothers group lol
TJ- Yeah I know what you mean about not liking cooked fruit me neither but I have still pureed stuff I don’t like cause you never know he make like it you still have to give them that option hey, but the only fruit I have done so far is apples and pears the rest is veggies so there is not that much cooked fruit really lol and you can never have enough info hey im pretty confident with it all now so if you have any questions when your time comes I have no probs answering if I can.
Sorry to hear about your mum being sick hope they figure it out soon.
Oh the Professional pics are so good aren’t they I got Jackson done at 4 weeks and I will get them done again at 6 months cause that is the deal I have I cant wait for the 6 months ones cause they do more stuff with them when they are little its all about the sleeping ones and black and white and hands/feet shots where as the older ones they use lots of cool props cant wait!!!
Misslouie-Sorry no advice from me on the cloth nappies I too am kinda lazy :p
But sounds like the ladies on here have given you some awesome advice any way!
In regards to the naming day thing yeah we are doing one at our house prob when Jackson is about 6 months just a BBQ type thing with a celebrant type lady that comes out she is really nice she does weddings but also does naming days its not religious though. So much to orgainise though invites food celebrant outfit blah blah the usual.
Hi Suby very short lol:wave:
Karice- you said the heaters were around $70 we just use and oil heater that has a thermostat on it apparently it’s the safest to have in bubs room you can pick a small one up from woolies and Big w for $30 odd dollars just a thought to save you some money maybe. Your Hair cut looks really !!!! and the new pics of Cady are cute as!! Forgot to say those knitted pants you had a pic of are sooooo cool you have some talent chicken!
Nomadic- yeah Jackson has been a little fussy at bottle time cause of his teeth too he just gums the bottle and plays with it for ages til he actually relises he is hungry then he goes for it but it does take ages at the moment!I have heard of those Amber teething Necklaces apparently they are really good one of my friends knows a rep for them and she used them for her kids and swears by them??? I dunno thou I think its something that you have to try for each bub im just not too sure ??? I guess anything is worth a try Jackson is not too bad at the moment but I guess when he is screming in pain from sore teeth you will try any thing hey!!
Newmummaofbub- Yay to Lilly that sounds like the exact routinue Jackson is on its great cause we still eat dinner at a resonible time and we get time with each other I love it!!!
On the family changing routinue thing in the early days when I was establishing a routinue they were bad but they are good now they relise evenings is a bad time to visit and now visit in the day on weekends I think it might have something to do with the fact that I put a sign on the door baby and mum sleeping go away!!!! Lol I had to though it was too hard!
TicklePink- No probs I have it down pat now so any advice you need on solids don’t hesitate to ask lol It’s a bit harder having a bub a bit older than most of you guys cause when I get to certain points you guys haven’t come across yet, advice is limited but then a few wekks later lots of tips come through!! hehehe although some of the mums that have
other kids offer great advice sometimes :)
NewMe- Well I wouldn’t worry too much about the toy thing they all develop at different stages he may not be a toy kid I know it sounds funny but he maybe still interested in his surroundings and checking things out the toy thing may come later.I noticed Jackson was not too interested at first then he started to love just the one toy an elephant rattle on his play gym he still just loves that one batting away and grabbing it and not the others so it may be he just does not like the ones he has????Just a thought?
Tommo- We were always told to go to the doc if there was bloody straks in Jacksons poos? So maybe a trip to the doc is due if it keeps up?
I have been on poo patrol since Jackson started solids just to make sure its not to hard or he is getting constipated my DH thinks I worry too much prob cause I take Jacksons dirty nappy and open it in his face and ask “does this look hard to you?” lol I like to get a second opinion lol funny though.
In relation to the doctor thing we must have it good here every doc I have seen for Jackson and even the Pediatrician visits have all been on medicare I have not had to pay a cent while I was pregnant or for any doctor visits for Jackson except the ultra sounds but got that back on medicare any way??? I thought it was like that every where?? Mmmm interesting to know ! Its stupid that you have to pay for kids I was kinda shocked when I read your posts!
AFU- Well still doing great on the solids making him a bit more gassy though burps more and farts lol but we have to make sure we get all the wind up because lately he has been burping heaps and milk flows out with it  what seems like lots I know from previous advice is only a little but still it seems to just flow out it doesn’t bother him cause half the time he giggles and that’s when it flows out but will just have to keep on eye on the weight again I guess.
Blah we have him booked in for his next lot of needles next week but I wouldn’t mind seeing my doc to ask a few questions and get a general checkup for him so good in one way but bad that my little bunny will be crying again  oh well it has to be done!!!
Well im so happy with myself I have been doing the wii fit for 6 days now and have lost 1 kilo im pretty happy with that so gunna stick to it as much as possible its fun too.
Any way I think I have rambled for long enough will chat later ladies

Hi everyone, we have had a much much better week this week. YAY.
I have been talking to a friend of a friend who has gone through the exact same thing as we have reflux, no sleeping in the day, screaming all afternoon except TIMES TWO, twins!! Holy moly. Both her boys had reflux, neither of them slept for more than 30 mins during the day, she still walks the streets with them to coax some more sleep out of them. She is a wonder woman. And they are now 8 months and SHE IS OK. Hope springs eternal.
I really like Jacob too. Was on our list. What do they mean by 'unique'?? Made up??
So excited, our bath is installed and functioning, F had his first big bath last night. He couldn't work out if he was scared or excited, so cried and laughed and splashed. Not bad for his first go. Bathroom is still a bombsite, but hopefully finished by the end of the w.end. Tradie has still not turned up this morning... but given it is my dad better not complain!

Morning ladies hope everyone had a great night
Hubnbubby: could jacob possibly be teething that was the first signs we had of jem teething and i took her to doc for temp and runny poo and doc looked in her mouth and said yep there is your problem you could see the bump of the tooth trying to break through, gotta love the sicks on the hands i think that was a brilliant idea to whoever said it aswell i seen that and thought here i was for 3 months buying millions of mittens to try and get them to stay on and now the socks actually stay on.. its the simple things isnt it i think jacob is a beautiful name it was on our list for a bay except we had it down spelt jakob
Tj: Gotta love the professional fotos how old was she when you had them done? i love baby portraits oh so cute!!
Karice: love the haircut it looks great did u think when u went in there it would turn out so good or were u scared it wouldnt look so nice u have given me inspiration to maybe go get mine cut off i have wanted to but scared it will look shocking but ay hair grows back i guess:yes:
Tommo: i think thats why jem likes her high chair too as she can see so much more and i think she feels superior when she sits in it she thinks she is queen in that.. invoices how fun
Happymumma: i hear you on the needles ti hate when it comes to that time i have 2 more weeks to work myself up to take her to get them ooo im such a woose i was more upset then she was at her 8 week shots but this time ill be brave lol
:smiliedance: for the weightloss how good is the wii fit i love it have you tried the new wii active i like that too it really gets you motivated it yells at you and praises you so its pretty good and fun too
Kar: wow that women must have so much patience she deserves a metal i would imagine one reflux baby would be a strain but two omg it makes u realise there is always someone out there worse off then you no matter what the situation is :smiliedance: for having the big bath installed and working i love my baths i could not live without one hope f keeps on enjoying them
AFU: we started on solids yesterday on the advice of our paed as i feel bad saying this knowing some of you have babies who dont sleep but my little jem sleeps way to much she is still sleeping sometimes 18-20 hrs out of 24 hrs and she is 14 weeks old
so they said to start solids as this may keep her awake more and we gave it to her yesterday and she was awake for 3 hrs staright after that feed then she slept all night and she usually only stays up for one hour after waking in the morning then back to bed for hours but no she stayed awake for 3 hours:smiliedance: i am so happy maybe this is working for her but like i said i am not rubbing this in or anything i feel really bad for writing it but i am just so excited that its working :fingerscrossed: its not just a fluke
well hope everyone has a good day :flowerz:
all up, we've had a better week too.
J slept from 11-5 last night, best stint in a very long time... went back down till 8.
he's still in pain, arching alot, still screams, but not as much, sunday will be one week on losec.
still hard to cope with a screaming bubba, and it often feels like no one has the time to go over everything with me, everyone that has anything to do with him (docs, nurses, ect) are so busy, there just doesnt seem to be anyone here that can spend the time with us to go over what is best for him, iykwim.
ok, enough rambling...
gah what a waste of time...its taken 2 months to get Cady in to see this so called specialist about her neck and she's told me nothing different than what I was told on my initial consult with the basic physio other than, come back in 3 weeks, if she's improved you won't need to come back if there's no improvement well we'll talk about it then...just keep up with her exercises. stupid stupid stupid...ok vent over
tommo - glad to hear you got a good block of sleep
misslouie - I've wanted to get the chop for a while now, I went into the hairdressers with an open mind and sorta let her lead me in the direction she thought best. I've only ever had short hair once in my life so it was a big step and yes I was worried it would look bad, but I figured they cut hundreds of peoples hair so they should know what would look ok and what wouldn't so I just let her go. Go for it!!!
Kar - yay for new bath! Cady's been in the big bath for the last few nights aswell, she seems to enjoy the leg space lol
happymumma - spring cleaning hey? I've been chasing my tail this week, everytime I start to make some headway on my problem areas in the house, DP comes home and its a pig-stye again...don't know why I bother :geek: I wish I oculd get my spare room back to the way it was, I've had that many visitors these past few months it's just a mess...more and more cr@p getting thrown in there. Good on you for your success!!!
well, I'm trying to get Cady to take this new dummy and its kind of an uphill battle. The old NUK one is way too small for her face, it leaves marks, plus I think that the teat is so small that's why it always falls out, its like she's just sucking with the tip of her tongue. This one is an orthopeadic one again but its for 3-6 months so its a bit bigger. She refused it for a few days but I totally took her old dummies away today so its the new one or nothing :shame: we've had all sorts of tantrums, bizzare angled thumb/finger sucking and now finally she's in her cot quite happily chowing down on the new one :raspberry: stubborn child... she gets it honestly...
she's stopped pulling funny faces when she's given water now. I think she's getting used to the "taste" (its water for crying out loud...but I guess its not mummy milk so it must taste odd)
she's in the big girl bath...in the big girl pram...in the big girl chair...the big girl cot...she's almost needs a big girl car seat...boooooooo stop growing up so fast :crying:+:D at the same time
Hi Lovely Ladies ,
tommo787- Thanks for the advice on the thickner, I've been heating the formula and then adding the thickner? We make the bottles up and then put them in the fridge so when we need them we just heat them to take the edge off IYKWIM. Maybe i shouldnt put them in the fridge anymore and just add the formula to the room temp water as i need it? I have no idea about the poop issue, Lilly had a bit of blood in her's when she was about 5 week's old but we noticed a tiny cut on her bum hole and the Dr said she probably strained too hard and that's how it cut. Is it still there today? Maybe go see the Dr to check it out if it is? Good to hear you got a better chunk of sleep, must be a relief for you.
hubnbubby- I'd love to be able to find a good mothers group too, it sounds silly but i think i'd be really nervous that the other mother's wouldnt include me or would have their own little group already KWIM? I guess i wont know till i try, i might have a look into it and see if i can find one close by.
Happymumma- Great effort with the personal's :yelclap: i havent mastered the art of remembering everyone yet and always seem to forget something i was going to say. Good to hear the solids are still going well. I have the same problem with Lilly spitting up, we've started adding half a scoop of thickner to her formula and it seem's to be going well, she still spits up a little bit but not half as much as she was, and now we can lay her down without having to make sure there's a towel under her head
kar- Glad to hear you've had a good week and i agree your friend deserves a medal!
misslouie- Awesome new's about Jem staying awake longer (it seem's really strange typing that...lol) hopefully she keep's it up, she must be loving the solids!
NewMe- I dont function well without sleep either so i know what you mean,i'm even worse if it's broken sleep! Lilly's also not a big fan of her toy's she'd much rather watch the TV or watch whatever i'm doing.
Karice- I could have written your post myself (well the bit about the dummy), Lilly does this strange thing where she'll take the dummy but push it out and then suck it back in, i've tried the bigger one's but she wont have a bar of it so i dont know what the go is. I gave up today and just stopped giving it to her once she's spat it out, she screamed for a bit but then must have realized i wasnt going back in so she went to sleep without it.
 to everyone else, i'm sure i've missed a heap of people (sorry) but i hope you're all well!
Having a bit of a shocker with Lilly today, i've been trying to get her to sleep longer than 45 mins each nap so thought i'd try and keep her up for longer and see how she goes.....BIG MISTAKE!!!! She screamed so much when i put her in the cot, normally she has a whinge when i put her down but then drifts of to sleep on her own but this morning she screamed so much that i had to pick her up and rock her to sleep in my arm's before i could put her down (and she still only slept for 45 mins. :hair:) I'm starting to think that she's just a catnapper and i'm going to have to deal with it, the only thing is she 'used' to have at least one 2 hr nap but now she's up after 45 min's on the dot. Ahh well, she sleep's pretty well at night so i shouldnt be complaining, it's just so frustrating because she wake's up cranky sometimes and i know she need's more sleep but i have tried everything (and i mean everything) to try and resettle her but nothing works. Ok enough rambling from me.....
Have a great weekend everyone! :)
hmmmm...im starting to think that maybe Cady's going to have some teeth coming through soon? She's been unsettled on and off for a few weeks, but today she's been a right old grizzle guts. Sometimes when I give her the dummy she becomes darned hysterical. When I offer her bottled water she tends to just munch on the teat for a while and then she has a drink. Then there is the constant DROOLING like a tap and she's trying to eat EVERYTHING, and she's licking everything and munching her fingers like crazy. Today she's had really flushed cheeks and I had a look at her gums, there's two big bulges where her "fangs" will come down...
Karice she's definately teething, cale is going through the except same things, he's munching his fists like crazy, drooling, really red cheeks, irritable and he had the buldges where his fangs would be too. Fun times ahead, the teeth mindn't come down for ages yet.
Wow I can't believe how many bubs are teething. DD1 didn't get her first tooth til 9mths(on fathers day of all days which happened to fall on my brothers birthday that year!).
trifecta
12-06-2009, 19:52
poo just lost my post.
can't remember much of it now...
Karice it's bittersweet watching them grow hey. I went to my so called mothers group thing today (woo hoo there were 3 of us) and the other two bubs were only 5w old. It was so strange, here's Jacob all big and sitting up, smiling, babbling away and checking everything out and these other two teny tiny wrinkly wee bubs made me realise just how much older Jacob is. And how much more fun! I love newborns but ahh I love seeing his personality shine even more. And he just keeps getting cuter. :D
Not sure I'm ready for this teething bizo though, that can wait another 3m at least thank you! Gah all that dribble.
Yay for better weeks Kar and Tommo!
Oh can hear squarks, and it's my shower and bed time I think. Still have my bunged up nose from my cold.

Quick question - is anyone else's bubs getting too long for 00 suits with feet in them? I noticed today in three of them he really struggles to go completely flat because of his length... I think it will be footless ones or pants & tops for us from now on. Thank god I have bought him so many cool shoes. lol.

nathan is still in 000's and he had his first milk arrowroot biscuit tonight....damn teething.
Hi everyone! :)
Thanks for the shout out Karice! :flowerz:
Hope you and your bubbas are all well. Sorry I haven’t posted as much as I would like recently… it’s been one of those weeks this week. I’ve been quite low in the last couple of days… on Wednesday I found out that a work friend died suddenly at home… she was married with 3 very young kids…. Just so sad, I am heartbroken for them. I still can’t quite believe it… I think things like this trigger stuff around the loss of our first daughter too. Probably not helping my frame of mind is the fact that I have ANOTHER cold (I’d only just gotten over the laryngitis) and all the kids have had colds too (not too bad thankfully). I had to take DS1 to the doctor this week to get a sty on his eyelid checked - another $61 to pay (we have to pay and then get reimbursed by Medicare). I seem to be at the doctor’s every week at the moment! Lily has had a couple of unsettled days yesterday and today… last night she woke a few times and only had very short naps today. Hmmm…. Maybe starting teething - she is drooling more, chewing everything she can get her hands on and has bitten me during feeding a few times. The boys didn’t cut their first teeth until 7-8 months, maybe she’ll be a bit earlier??? As I think NewMe said, it can take some time for a tooth to emerge - they can seem on the verge for ages. She is still doing the night owl thing, though up until last night she had been doing some longer sleeps overnight, 6-8 hours, which isn’t too bad except that I can’t sleep in with her because of the boys. We’ll get there eventually… Sorry if I sound like such a downer girls!
On the plus side, DH had a week off last week and he managed to cross off a few jobs on the list. He stained the bookcase for our family room, set up the new TV (fantastic new LCD which I haven’t really had the time to check out properly yet) and did some other handyman things which he was very pleased with (made and installed a coat rack in our hallway). He did manage a bit of relaxation time as well - went to see Star Trek, went to see a band, got a massage…hmmm think I could have done with one of those too!
Oh… I am now on facebook, finally! Now, I think I sent a request to join the right March Mummies group… is it the one with the picture of the pregnant belly with the ribbon? Can someone please let me know if that was the right thing to do? Look forward to chatting to all of you on there as well!
I must go to bed now since Lily is amazingly asleep… I think due to sheer exhaustion. I am so glad to hear that some of you are getting better sleeps (tommo, kar, newmumma), hope it continues! A big hello to everyone… karice, tommo, kar, Suby, NewMe, Nomadic, ticklepink (welcome!), newmumma, happymumma, hubnbubby, eeyore, TJ, LIH, Tee, Lochie&coopersmum, Pebbles, Jeca, Missyky, melbryan, kyleighb, MellyMumma, GirlsOnly, misslouie, aidensmum, oya, SoL and everyone else! Hope to do some better personals soon.
Have a good weekend everyone! Gotta run... Lily's stirring again. Catch you all soon!

Morning all!!!
Well will keep this one shorter than before lol I had to catch up on alot hehehe
Miss Louie- No I haven’t tried the new wii active I heard it was good though must get that too then lol I didn’t even have a wii fit til recently then I had to get everything to go with it I felt heaps bad about spending so much money but DH said I deserve it and think of it as a maternity present lol god love him :) Thanx for the advice I wanna try it now!!
Jackson too stays awake longer on the solids so im hoping if he is awake longer he will have his full nap which will take him to his next bottle fingers crossed its been a week on solids now no diference in naps yet but we will see!Jackson is a sleepy baby too sometimes it’s a bad thing cause they don’t have enough play time to work out how to roll and stuff so hopefully our sleepy bubbas will stay awake more:fingerscrossed:
Tommo- Oh your poor bunny hopefully by Sunday it will have kicked in fully and he wont be in as much pain !!! Stay strong hunny your doin well it will get better soon enough you have come this far I know its hard when doctors just dismiss you and don’t seem to care!
Karice – Men just don’t get it you spend all day cleaning then in five seconds they mess it all up blah
I tried the same thing with changing Jacksons dummies from the silly hospital ones to the Nuk ones but I gave in cause he LOVES the hospital ones and sleeps better with them im just gunna have to get rid of the dummy earlier so his teeth don’t go crooked I would prefer the nuk ones cause they are better for him but what can you do hey!
I know what you mean about being happy and sad they are growing so quick Jackson is into everything big boy now :(
TicklePink- You could have copied and pasted my post from about 5 weeks ago about the 45 min catnapping Jackson was the same so I gave up lol he is a bit better now he gets 2 sleep cycles in during the days so an hour and a half then I have to rock him to sleep in my arms after that :( the joys of a catnapper but like you said it’s a trade off they sleep well at night!
Hi Bongos and any one else I haven’t mentioned in my last couple of posts
Well on our front funniest thing DH just wrote me a message saying he put is undies on inside out this morning lol it was an early start for him so it was dark hahaha so funny lol, we had some friends over last night arrrrrhhhh I cant stand one of DH mates he was drunk talking really loud when Jack was in the room next to us and on top of that he fell over and knocked our whole dvd stand over so dvds went everywhere then I go to the toilet this morning and there was pee all over the toilet and the floor which no doubt would have been him blah he is such a loser sorry just needed to vent
Big day planned today more spring cleaning and then wii fit then a girlfriend of mine is coming over yay !!! She is preggers to so now I just laugh and tell her she has all this to look forward to lol
Any way best run I said this was going to be short oooppps sorry too much to say hehehe
Have a lovely weekend
Crystal
Hi everyone!! Karice, you made me realise I haven't posted in a while. I read everyday but never seem to find the time to post.
I can't beleive how many babies are already teething. Michael was 7 mths when he cut his first tooth and pretty much had his whole set by 1.
Not too much new with us. Ella is doing well. She's still waking up for one feed in the night but that's not too bad. She'll feed between 6 and 7 pm, sleep from around 7.30 and then wake anywhere from 1.00 - 4.00 am and then sleep again to 6.00 - 7.00 am. Not complainging about this cause with DS although he did sleep through quite early I could never get him down before 10.00 or something!
I have just gone and bought Ella some 00's. She's getting too long for 000's with feet in them. The 00's are going to be too big though. I find though that when it's cold pants with feet are so much easier.
The sales have been so good - have bought lots of cute things for both kids. There are so many things I want to buy Ella but I figure there are always sales so it's silly to buy her clothes a year in advance! i did buy her a size 1 top though cause it was reduced to $5 at DJ's!!!!
Must go.. Ella is whinging and need to get ready for visitors coming later on. Also going to my goddaughter's 10th b'day disco party tonight. She is already wanting grown up things from this age.. fancy that! Imagine when our little ones are 10!!!
Quick question - is anyone else's bubs getting too long for 00 suits with feet in them? I noticed today in three of them he really struggles to go completely flat because of his length... I think it will be footless ones or pants & tops for us from now on. Thank god I have bought him so many cool shoes. lol.
Yep, except Indie's on the verge of not fitting 0's footed suits. She's a long little girl! I hope she doesn't keep growing quite this fast - I want her to keep fitting footed suits for a while longer - they're just so convenient:D
gah...whinging child makes me so cranky. I don't know why we can't conquer the afternoon sleep. Around 1pm she usually wakes up from having a nap, then by 3pm she's sooooo tired and just whinging constatly but if I put her in her cot she chucks the BIGGEST temper tantrum ever, which will carry on for at least an hour until she gives up and goes to sleep. If she wasn't whinging while she was awake it wouldn't phase me to keep her up longer but the whinging drives me nuts, which she's only doing coz she's tired anyway.
anyway vent over
mks - hi! great to hear from you. how did the party go?
happymumma - oh how annoying, that friend sounds so annoying. I so would of done my block if it was me :hair:
bongos - :hugs: oh my I'm so sorry to hear about your work friend, it must of been a shock for everyone :( oh your DH sounds so handy around the home. My DP just downloads movies and plonks his bum on the couch when he's home  Although, I do kick him up the pants and ask him to do things for me and he does it without complaint so he's pretty good in that respect. I hope that you and the kiddies are all feeling better soon.
nomadic - Cady's in 00 suits at the moment and they seem to be a perfect fit at the moment, but, she has her Dad's long body and my stubby chunky legs (sorry hunny...that's just how the gene pool got mixed...) She's still in 000 pants for most things but 00 tops are getting snug...strange girl
aidensmum - yeah i'm pretty sure that one of the CHN's told me a few weeks ago that it could take up to 6 weeks for a tooth to appear? Gah 6 weeks of miss slobbering cranky pants. She seems to be in a slightly better mood today, I gave her a cold teething ring to chew, but it might be conincidence.
hnb - how weird does it seem to look at a newborn next our little ones now? They suddenly look so much older. In my mind, she's still this fragile little newborn, but she's not, she's bigger, and older. I wonder if I'm still going to see her has this helpless fragile precious newborn when she's 16 and learning to drive?
newme - lol, kids have a perfect sense of timing don't they? I had the weirdest dream last night that I woke up and Cady had a full mouth of teeth, blam, just like that.
well, im going to have a cup of coffee and recharge my batteries for the night run. In an hour i'll be all gogogo until tonight again. I love having DP home but it throws my routine right out the window and then I'm up half the damned night trying to catch up again...need to work out a better system I think...
PS - thanks everyone for your lovely comments on facebook about my hair :D it's been the perfect pick-me-up that i've needed

I just let the housework go on the weekend:o
Hi Girls, hope everyone is doing ok. I've been reading along as much as possible but never seem to get time to post, I just can't keep up with you girls. Every time I sit down to do a mammoth post with some personals in I get interrupted.
William had his injections last week and luckily didn't react badly, he was just sleepy for that day and then back to normal the next day. We did have a rather interesting nappy the following morning though. He also managed to sleep all the way through the night on Wednesday :yelclap: I was so proud of him, hasn't happened again yet but it's so good to know he can do it and I was impressed with how quickly he managed it.
I too am addicted to my baby group :o The official sessions finished last week but we're all continuing to meet once a week for coffee, and the girls are already discussing first birthdays and the kids growing up together.
After reading your posts about the number of layers you have on your bubs over night, I'm thinking I must be freezing W. He has a singlet, sleepsuit, then a fleecy wrap and a really light cover over him. He also has a heater in his room and the monitor says it's 18 in there usually. He never seems cold when I feed him overnight but got me worried now.
Tash I too have cut W's finger when attempting to cut his nails. :crying: I'm sure I cried more than he did, took longer for DH to calm me down than W. I felt like the worst mummy in the world, and vowed never to go near his nails again. I have of course relented on that and have used some baby scissors rather than the clippers and I find that much easier.

Hi all... I dont post much as you may or may not have noticed...
I'm pretty flat stick to find time to do big long posts.
I made a friend, sounds kinda childish hey, anyways a friend of mine in brissy introduced us, and she lives out this way and has a young bub too... and she spent a little time around Indie and she suggested Indie may have silent relux, took her to the doc and sure enough:yes:...*make that a frown smiling but nodding** so now I feel totally stupid for not realising earlier and just thinking she was clingy and a windy baby, as totally opposite to DS and I've never been around a reflux bub so had no idea!
So she's on infant gaviscon, could explain her 'failure to thrive' a few weeks ago, and when she has formula she's on AR one, chose S26 AR but doesnt seem to mix well, but cant really afford to go swapping...See how she goes for a week, if no better prescribing other medication..
Hoping she grows out of it soon.
Also going to get some material to make a hug-a-bub carrier wrap thing, she loves it, and means I'll be able to get stuff done!
Other than that DS's party prep is all done, invites are going out monday, (Party on 11th July), cant believe he'll be 4...
Just have to finalise cake plans, draw the design, get ingred's etc....
Not a great deal more to say, hi bongos...and anyone else who's said hi..oh Karice..
Hope everyone is doing well.
newme - there's a good point to both side of the argument, it would be wasier to let it go on the weekends, but DP makes a rediculous amount of mess so it would take me all week to catch up. On the other hand, I should make the most of him being home to entertain Cady to wizz around and get stuff done but I'm so busy chasing my tail picking up after him it doesnt happen anyways. hohum...
pippag - hiya, great to hear from you. its lovely that your mothers group has kept going after it officially ended. Mine's kind of fizzed out here. The first time there was 4, and now there's just me and the nurse, but I still go for the info.
Suby - OMG 4 years old !!! What were you thinking for cake designs?? My neice had silent reflux when she was born, and it even took the doctors over 6 weeks to diagnose her, don't feel bad about it, it's a really tricky thing from what I understand :hugs:I think she had pretty much grown out of it by the time she was 4 months old, but my SIL was breastfeeding so I don't know if that makes a difference or not. I hope that her medication makes things a bit more comfortable for her. Great news on making a new friend  its always so hard. If it wasn't for bubhub i'd still be friendless!

It just seems to always have little fragments that look like sugar or shards of crystalised something in it.. Dont know if that's normal. Yeah with the teats we were lucky, I got some bigger ones by accident, and lucky cos I tried to give it to her with normal teats and wouldnt work..lol...not so smart mummy here had a blonde moment..duh..
Thanks guys, she is breastfed and bottle fed, as I cut out her formula feeds for a while, then she was feeding all the time, like she'd fall asleep while feeding, let go then wake up crying, start feeding and so on...Now I know why, but I put her back onto some formula feeds to give me some sanity so DF could feed her. I was beating myself up about it but good in a way to know that others havent had their kids diagnosed straight away, meaning it's good that it's not just me..
Thanks chickies

suby - the crystals are normal they are the thickener that is in the formula they are a little annoying though as they seem to sometimes block the teat but yeah it is a crystalised geletin or something to that effect so it thinkens and will get thicker the longer it is left. dont worry lol i had to ask to about the crystals.

ahhh thanks for that...thought that may be the case, but also though it was a bit silly that it didnt mix fully and done just that, got caught up in the teat.
Is hard poo normal along with it?? DD has since being on the AR formula is struggling to poo, and when she does it is super thick and firm...

its so quiet in here today!!!
My DS has a tooth.:crying:
SFM - I've got the womans weekly pirate ship recipe here if you want a copy? Think I've got another one too. DD1 will be 4 in Dec, it seems such a scary number! Great theme for his party - is it at home? Do you still have a pirate flag on your flagpole? Perfect for his party:D Glad to hear you've made a new friend out your way. Can't help on the poo front, but maybe some coloxyl drops in her bottles to help soften them?
Kaz - I see your point. I'm lucky that DH isn't that messy(how much mess can you really make sitting on the couch;):p). Actually he's been doing a bit around the house this weekend - washed the dog and I had to clean the bathroom from top to bottom, decided to put a new toilet in, but it doesn't quite fit so put the old one back in for now, so now the toilet needs a clean. He's currently mowing the lawns so no doubt in about 30mins I'll have to vacuum from where he's stomped grass through the house:rolleyes:
Oya - Another teether - there's quite a few early teethers in here!
I found another box of DD1's old clothes today and at last found our seemingly hundreds of bibs. DD2 has already outgrown some of the clothes which is a bit scary because it was stuff that DD1 mostly finished with early last year at 2 years old! They'll either be swapping clothes or handing them down from DD2 to DD1 in no time at this rate.
Better run, DD2 is cracking it!
not much from me today...been really busy. There was a damned party across the road last night, the cops didn't break it up till 1am and then Cady was awake every 45 mins until 7am this morning, where we got 2 hours sleep finally. I've been cleaning today and had dad over for coffee so I'm pretty buggered. Oh and DP has no work this week so I'm hoping to catch up on lots of jobs. DP cleaned the bathrooms this morning and I've done a whole bunch of other things funfunfun
Missy has been unconsolabley cranky today, not sure if its tooth related or tired related seeing as neither of us got any sleep last night :gloomy:

suby - yeah it takes a bit for there system to get used to i just give em some coloxyl if she is struggling to much or inbetween a feed i giver her small amounts of water about 10 or 20 mls depeds on if it works or not with the reflux. i hates it with the constipation it seemed no matter what you try it always makes something else worse. stupid doctors.
well went for an hour long drive to see my cousin compete in gymnastic today and he got a badge for the next level yay to her and she got to meet little em at the same time so was nice for her am yet to hear if my sister has passed aswell as they had to videotape hers and send it up cos she couldnt make it to perth. i am soo all gooey and gaarey over em lately she is talking so much( no works yet ) seh is stil "almost" crawling and this mornign she rolled onto her side oh she is growing and developing sooooo fast.
As for our professional photos i got them done when she was about 2 and a half months old she is sooooooooo cute i just want to cry cos of how pretty she is i feel so blessed. sorry if i sound soppy just have been lately.
well better run dh is still working today so havent really seen him all weekend :( and next week he has tafe so it is a long week.
Sorry, selfish post from me but I really need some advice.
Felix slept today for only 2 x 40 min naps for the whole day.
My mum dropped around at about 4 and he had one of his full on tantrums. I don't know if I have really described these but his entire head goes beetroot, he kicks, arches and squirms so much that you can barely keep hold of him (to the point where I have had to just put him in the middle of the bed to be safe) he screams to the point where no noise comes out, he sweats all over and just cannot be consoled. This can go on for about 20 minutes to half an hour. The only thing I can do is practically force the boob into his mouth and feed him for around 1.5hrs to calm him. Otherwise whenever he stops feeding he just goes back to the fit.
I really can't hold him out to three hours between feeds most of the time because he screams and screams.
He has one of these fits at least a couple of times a week and has a full hysterical tantrum at least once per day.
When he sleeps none of this behavior occurs.
My mum said today that she thinks his tantrums are beyond the realms of normal baby craziness and I should start trying to see if anyone can offer any real help, starting with a trip to the GP. She said she has never heard a baby scream as loudly and as intensely and for as long as he does without being able to be consoled. It is a running joke at our local shops (except I don't think it is funny) about "we can here you coming a block away Kristen".
Mum was telling me that my dad was apparently exactly the same. My Nan started comp feeding him and put him on solids early and it stopped it. I am posting this in here only because I don't want all the BFing nazis telling me that comp feeding will only make things worse. I have wondered whether his inability to sleep or go to 3hrs between feeds is due to hunger. I think he gets full each feed but it doesn't 'stick'.
This is one thing mum suggested I seek some advice from GP about (we have a good one who specialises in paediatrics). Mum also thought it might be a good idea to have him checked out by a chiro or osteo specialising in paediatrics to see if there could be any underlying discomfort stopping him sleeping, but he does sleep at night without issue.
I know there is no harm in going to GP, but I feel like I am always seeking solutions and that there probably are none. It is just how he is. But Mum said she thinks he really does go a bit beyond 'just being a baby'. My mum is a very sensible woman and not prone to being dramatic.
Any thoughts ladies? It has got to the point where I am too scared to take him anywhere because of the tantrums. He is now 16 wks and there is no sign of any of this abating really. We did have a better week last week, but were starting from a pretty low base!
I am starting to feel really down about the whole situation :(
Was just going to add, my mum also said that she thinks I am 'fading away' before her eyes. Now, don't get me wrong I am no waif, but I am below my pre pregnancy weight and wasn't big to start with. I think what mum was really getting at was that I don't eat properly anymore because I always have an awake baby, I walk with him for up to 2 hrs a day to get him to sleep as well as pacing the house with him and I feed Felix every 2.5hrs. All of this probably is starting to take a bit of a toll on me physically as well as emotionally.
God, will probably regret this big outpouring tomorrow.
kris,
i recommend the chiro for sure:yes:
