my baby only cries with me :(

over the last week or so my 5 wk old baby has started crying just about every time i hold him.. as soon as i give him to his daddy he instantly stops! he even cries just after feeding... this used to be the time when he was most content.
obviously this is starting to make me feel really depressed.. i feel like he hates me and im scared to be alone with him cos i fear i wont be able to settle him.
has anyone else experienced this or can anyone give me some advice?? im desperate! i dont know what im doing wrong! :(

Oh sweetie :hugs:It is just the opposite! He doesn't hate you at all :no:. He knows you are the one that feeds him and nurtures him so when he cries its because he is asking you for something. Whether its a feed, that he's hot/cold, he's tired or wants to get away to a quiet place, etc. He only does this with you because he considers you his primary carer right now and doesn't do it with others coz he doesn't think they can do it for him like you can.

He is telling you he is comfortable with you and thinks you are his special mum :goodvibes: Even though it may not feel like it.

My boys always cried with me - and still do now! That is because they are comfortable being themselves around me coz I love them unconditionally and they know that. Babies are not stupid... Don't take it personally - he really is giving you a compliment! :yes:

If you are breastfeeding, he will be able to smell your milk, too, and that can unsettle them a bit, which is probably why he stops as soon as he goes to his Dad.

You're the one he loves and needs the most at the moment, and so it should mean that he settles the best with you - but it doesn't always!

It's nothing you're doing, he's very young, he will grow out of it in time and it's just something you have to bear until he does - very hard I know!
