i have never been on one of these sites before and i'm hoping someone can help me.

I have a 4wk old baby and i think she might have silent reflux but am not sure... I am doing my best to breastfeed but currently suffering from nipple thrush (we think) so have given a couple of formula feeds... She has started fussing during feeds and crying for no apparent reason, she screws up her face as well but is definitely hungry and is fairly eager to latch back on (until she pulls off crying). She settles between feeds 90% of the time and has lots of wet nappies (using cloth and is drenched each time i change her nappy).

I have a 20mth old as well who had relfux until he was about 12mths but he vomited a lot and never cried with feeds.

Can someone please help me? I hate to see her little face screw up in (what seems like) pain.

Thanks

:hugs:

It is hard isn't it.

DS had silent reflux, you could smell the bile on his breath and he would get very upset and fussy.

DD2 on the other hand was a happy chucker, you would throw up and it didn't hurt her at all. She was a million times worse on formula though, it turned her into a fountain, she could jet vomit a good 4 foot high after a formula feed.

I would go and see your CHN/GP/Paed, or all three. it depends whose advice you trust. you might need to look at your diet as well. DS was really effected if I had any bubbly drink, even soda water and chocolate was out as well.

Good luck, I hope that you can get it sorted.

Sounds like my bub who had silent reflux.
Doctors tend to not take it seriouly but I went to the chc for a day stay and they witnessed it first hand and wrote a report for the Dr, who then sent me to the ped and subsequently put her on losec.
I also had nipple thrush but the lacto consult said to feed through it, but treat bub and me with nilstat. Drops for her and serum for me on the nipple.

Hi sounds like silent reflux to me. My son had silent reflux diagnosed at 4 weeks and he use to cry out during feeds or sometimes comfort feed (wanting to feed continuously) and would always cry after a feed. We put him on losec and it helped a lot. Good luck. It is awful when they seem in pain.
