I think it time i went to a sleep school for my DD.
She is 10 months old and a terrible sleeper. I am pregnant so dreading being up all night with two.
I was hoping someone might be able to recommend me one in SA?
What do they exactly? Is it expensive - i can't afford much?
Did it help you bub sleep? and did it last?
TIA :)
You poor thing :hugs:
When my boy was younger he was also a terrible sleeper and I ended up resorting to CC :o but I've heard of a place called "Torrens House".
Your CHN can organise it, I hated CHNs but they can get you into Torrens House  I think you get to stay there for a few nights, not sure of the cost though.
Sorry, I'm really not much help lol.
I did see Dr Symon re his sleeping, but he is a CC advocate, so probably not your cup of tea. That was $20 and worked a treat.

Yep u need to see ur CYH nurse to get a referral to Torrens House.
It can be hard to get into, but seem as ur pregnant, u may get priority.
I went there with DS and it helped alot.......i think i was there 3 or 4 nights......and it's free.

Thank you.
I have looked up the Torrens house and the only trouble is the cut off age is 12 months so i would need to get in asap.
I will call the CYH centre and try to see if it is possible to get me in.
Otherwise my last resort is controlled crying :(

Oh one more thing - i assume the Torrens house does cc. It doesn't really specify on the website.
I have no problem with that - honesty i think it may need to be done in my case. Just want to be prepared.
Angike - How do i find Dr Symon if i don't get into Torrens house?
You will need to go and visit a CYH centre to get a referral. They will prob want you to do a day stay with them first. It is possible to get a priority placement at Torrens house due to your pregnancy but you need to have been reviewed in the clinics first.....
Torrens house dont do CC as such but teach you settling techniques and how to read your baby's responses. They advocate wrapping even for a 10 month old and use methods like rocking the cot, patting the mattress etc as tools to teach baby to go to sleep in the cot then wean off these methods later down the track.
Hope this helps.
