View Full Version : Circumcision Due To Medical Issues

We need to have our 5 year old son circumcised. Without getting into a debate about whether or not circumcisions should or shouldn't be done (our son needs it done for medical reasons), I was wondering if anyone else out there has had it done on there older child and how they went with the surgery and recovering for the operation. Thanks for any replies.
My eldest had it done when he was 3. He was too old for the plastibell and had to have it surgically cut. It swelled up for a couple of days and looked a bit like a blueberry. He was in a bit of pain, but nothing a bit of panadol couldn't relieve. He sometimes mentions the time he had spikes (stitches) in his doodle, but it hasn't traumatised him. Overall it took about a week for him to feel comfortable after the operation. Hope all goes well for you and your son.
sorry.. no experience myself..
just wanted to wish your little guy luck and a speedy recovery. :hugs:

This has been a problem for him for sometime now and they said he may grow out of it but sadly this has not been the case this time :(

Good luck with it. When is it happening?
My 2.5yr old is being circumcised in one month for medical reasons too, I'll let you know how it goes... With the recovery - my Specialist said they give a cream that helps heal it and numb it...
