Hey guys. I found out last week that i am having another miscarriage. I was just 11 weeks and getting excited to be able to tell everyone soon. The worst thing is the doctor told me i just have to wait for the baby to pass and it could take about two weeks before it happens...I'm going to be so paranoid up until it happens, especially considering i have my uni exams for the next 3 weeks...:(:crying:

I'm so very sorry for your loss :(
Is there a medical reason why you can't elect to have a D & C rather than waiting for a spontaneous m/c? I found the waiting and uncertainty to be unbearable and it was nearly a relief to me to have the surgery for closure.
Sending lots of :hugs::hugs::hugs:

:iagree:As difficult as D&C is to agree to it does help with closure & starting the grieving process. With my last m/c I had 9 long days of bleeding & pain and when that last u/s confirmed it was not viable, it was my OB who encouraged me to have the D&C the next day, as waiting was only going to be traumatic physically & emotionally.
My heart goes out to you. Good luck with whichever way you decide to go :hugs:
I wish you all the vest in ur examz, and im sorry to hear of your loss. i know it must be hard, just think positive and you will make it though!!
Kara, my thoughts and prayers are with you at the moment, I imagine it must be just so difficult waiting for the inevitable...especially with exams.
Sending lots of hugs your way xox

Just wanted to say a big huge thank you to everyone for their kind words. 3.5 weeks after being told i was going to have a miscarriage and still no bleeding or pain i went to a different doctor who told me i needed to go have an ultra sound. I did yesterday only to find that i am not having a miscarriage and i am 14 weeks and 4 days along. Everything is normal as are the babies measurements. That was a huge shock. my fiance and i were expecting a black sac of nothing like last time...
But now we are very confused as to why my hcg levels went so low? Is that normal? Has it ever happened to anyone else?
We are stoked, a great surprise!
I am going back to the doctor who sent me for an ultrasound today to find out what to do next...
WOW what an emotional rollercoaster...
Kara :thumbsup::yelclap::smiliedance:
wow, congratulations!!!
did you tell the first doctor this? that is an awful lot of stress to have gone through!:hugs:
hope the rest of your jpurney is thoughouly uneventful!:goodvibes:
That is fantstic news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What made the first doc think your were having a m/c at 11 weeks????
Kara,
What a wonderful suprise, i would say miracle baby, congratulations! Hope the rest of the pregnancy is smooth sailing :hugs:

Congratulations - this baby was meant to stick around. May I ask did the first Doctor do an ultrasound? That is just amazing that he misdiagnosed you.

Wow congratulations :goodvibes:
What an amazing suprise - i can't even imagine the rollercoster of emotions you must have felt.
Also very scary to think a doctor misdiagnosed you - were you given an ultrasound by the first doctor? I thought that would be standard to make sure.
Thank God you were not sent for a D&C.

Hi there, i've just come accross this thread
i'm so happy that your little bubba is still hanging in there, what great news :smiliedance:
what made your first GP come to the conclusion that you were miscarrying?
its normal for HCG levels to drop from about 10wks on, untill they plato at just over 12wks, where they will say at around that level untill you have bubs
when I was preg with my DD I was bleeding lots from about 9wks, at around 12wks I went to hosp, where they told me I was miscarrying because my HCG levels had dropped, I had to inform them that it does start dropping/platoing(sp) at around this gestation:hair:, If I hadn't knowen that, I would've been broken hearted that I definatly was miscarrying

Hi Kara,
That's just such great news, I'm so excited for you!
You mention in your second post that you were expecting to see a black sac like last time. Does that mean you had a scan at 11 weeks and nothing could be seen then?
Because if it is, you give me SO MUCH HOPE  for my pregnancy, as I had an U/S last Saturday at 8 weeks and the stenographer could locate the sack, but I was told that either I was way out with my dates and that I couldn't be anymore than 6 weeks or I was about to M/C, as she couldn't pick up anything in it. My dates definately couldn't be out by that much because I was getting a very faint positive at only 9 days after ovulation, so that would make it impossible to be more than 15 days earlier than I thought and my periods are like clock work every 28 days. So since Saturday I've been devastated. I've had 2 Hcg levels tests done on Monday and yesterday, but my Ob doesn't work today so I am desperately waiting to find out the result, if he doen't ring me tomorrow morning I will be on the phone as soon as all my Day Care children are in bed for their afternoon nap at 1.00. I must admit though I haven't had any preg systoms for awhile. Boobs were only sore for a couple of weeks after ovulating and I've had no nausea or MS, but then again I'm still not bleeding, only have very slight staining when wiping and just some brownish jelly like discharge (Sorry for TMI).
But anyway this post is sooo uplifting for me :flowerz: and gives me some hope, not going to get to excited but it's nice to know that there is always hope and miracles:yes:.
Thankyou, thankyou!

Hi Carolyn! Sorry for the late reply, I've been flat out studying for last exams. My first ultrasound for this pregnancy was at 14 weeks. The first doctor came to the conclusion i was having a miscarriage after my Hcg levels had dropped at around the 10 week mark. I had more done and they had dropped even more. She told me it would take about 2 weeks to pass and come back and see her when it had. No referral to get an ultrasound done. (it makes me wonder how many other girls she has told that they are having a miscarriage??) What i meant by the last ultrasound, was i had a m/c at about 6-7 weeks last year. I had been spotting for about 1-2 weeks and then i starting getting chronic pain in my belly. When we had the ultrasound there was just a black sac with nothing going on.
How are you now? Have you got your results back? My fingers are crossed for you and i hope all is well... Please let me know how you are going!
Cheers,
Kara
Kara,
What a silly doctor!!!!!! That is so unprofessional for them not to request an US at that time. They should know that after a few weeks into a pregnancy (especially after the 6 week mark when a HB can be detected) that HCG levels are not as accurate as an US and HCG levels are not really 'read' by doctors as they are so unpredicatble!
I am glad all is well now.
