Ok so now that I have finally gotten over my heartbreak and accepted that breastfeeding this time around wasn't working I have realised that I am really not clued up on formula/bottle feeding (DD would never take a bottle). So I have few questions for you mums formula feeding bubs around the same age as my bub.

How old is your bub and how much are they drinking and how often?

What fomula are you using?

Do you have to sterilise bottles or just hot soapy water (I have been sterilising but keep getting told I don't have to)

What bottles do you use?

What is the best way to warm/prep bottles for feeds overnight?

How many bottles do you have?

Can you microwave bottles at all or is it not recommended?

What is the deal with BPA free?

See, clueless aren't I :o
Thanks gals :D

Hi KyKy!

My bub is 14weeks and has been on bottles for about 3 weeks now due to dramas with BF.
I've been using Karicare Gold formula and he has 5 bottles a day (200ms per bottle). It tells you on the can how much they should be having.

I do steralise DS bottles because he is so young. I steralised DD bottles until she was 12mths. When they start putting everything they find into their mouths I thinks it is safe to stop steralising!! I find the Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature bottles are the best. They are the big fat ones.

I have 6 bottles - that way I have enough for the entire day. I always wash, steralise and fill them with cooled boiled water before I go to bed each night so they are ready to go the next day.

It is not recommended to use the microwave to heat bottles because they dont heat evenly. I use a bottle warmer.

Hope that helped a little :)

oh! I need to know these things too. My little one has done some real damage to my nipples these last three days with biting down really hard and pulling back as much as she can. I was feeling guilty about wanting to move to bottles, not any more though!

Can anyone recommend a bottle warmer?

How old is your bub and how much are they drinking and how often? my bub is 4 month old and she is on 200ML to 240ml depending on how hungry she is.

What fomula are you using? Im using S26 GOLD ALFAPRO. The midwives recommended that as it is really go.

Do you have to sterilise bottles or just hot soapy water (I have been sterilising but keep getting told I don't have to) I use to sterilise with the steriliser but then that broke on me. So i only use hot soapy water and i think they come out looking new compared to the steriliser.

What bottles do you use? I use AVENT bottles you can get them in 125ML, 250Ml and 320Ml and bigger for memory. I highly recommened the AVENT if your starting bub on bottles as you can change the teat you buy the teats in Newborn or what ever your bubs age is in months. so if he is coughing through the feed it means he/she is getting to much in a gulp. so you can find a teat that suits bub.

What is the best way to warm/prep bottles for feeds overnight? you can heat them up in a hot jug of boiling water or just use the micowave as long as you shake the bottle really well and only put it in for 15 sec or 20. the midwive told me that. or there is another way where you put half of the boiling water in the bottle put it in the fridge get it out when you are ready then boil the jug put the rest in that you want and it will be the right temp.

How many bottles do you have? i have 10 small ones (125ml) 7 med one (250ml) n big ones yet

Can you microwave bottles at all or is it not recommended? yes you can if you fOllow how i told you in the bit up the top.

How old is your bub and how much are they drinking and how often?
DS1 was about 3 weeks when he started FF and DS2 was about 6 weeks. DS2 drank about 70-100mls for a few weeks at first from what I remember. But he was a big baby. He would have that about every 3 hours.

What fomula are you using?
S26 Gold both times with no probs.

Do you have to sterilise bottles or just hot soapy water (I have been sterilising but keep getting told I don't have to)
With DS1 I never sterilised a thing! And he was fine. Just used hot soapy water and rinsed well. But I did sterilise with DS2 - don't know if I had to, but I had a friend who had a VERY sick baby who contracted meningitis in hospital. So I was just paranoid!!

What bottles do you use?
Nuk with the colic free teats

What is the best way to warm/prep bottles for feeds overnight?
I just had the bottles ready with the cool boiled water and popped them in the microwave for about 10 secs if it was a cold night then added the formula. If it was a warm night, I just added the formula before feeding it straight to bubs. It took about 30 secs to prepare.

How many bottles do you have?
Since FF babies usually require about 8 feeds in 24 hours, I bought 8 bottles so I would only have to wash them once a day :p

Can you microwave bottles at all or is it not recommended?
Yes you can microwave them. I had a microwave steriliser. But it is not recommended to microwave the bottle when you have already mixed the formula in it. ie putting the formula in the microwave mixed. Apparently this will kill the nutrients. That is why I usually heated up the water in the microwave first THEN added the formula and gave it to bubs straight away.

What is the deal with BPA free?
Apparently BPA is a chemical in the plastic that can be transferred into the water when you heat it up or put boiling water in the bottle and is not suppose to be good for bubs. But I had pretty much finished FF my boys when I found this info! Not sure how bad it is.Maybe google it on the internet.

From memory with DS1 i started him on formula at 6 months with DS2 formula if i cant pump enough for him

How old is your bub and how much are they drinking and how often? whatever formula you're using should have a guide as to how much bubs should be and average amount of feeds a day to give you a slight clue till you figure it out

What fomula are you using? both kids S26 Gold

Do you have to sterilise bottles or just hot soapy water (I have been sterilising but keep getting told I don't have to) For bf i believe you dont have to sterilise (i still do though) but for formula fed i sterilised up until 1 like pp said they put absolutely everything in their mouths at this point

What bottles do you use? When weaning from bf to formula i found tommee tippee closer to nature worked better than avent for me ... i use both

What is the best way to warm/prep bottles for feeds overnight? i dont warm bottles got DS1 to take them at room temp so i just boil water leave it on the kitchen bench overnight

How many bottles do you have? 10

Can you microwave bottles at all or is it not recommended? microwave but only for a short periods

What is the deal with BPA free? sorry cant help with this one

How old is your bub and how much are they drinking and how often?
DS is 5 weeks and he is having between 120-150mls every 4hrs and 6hrs over night.

What formula are you using?
We use Karicare Gold Plus

Do you have to sterilise bottles or just hot soapy water
Sterilize for sure. We did this until they were 12 months.

What bottles do you use?
We use MAM BPA Free Anti colic bottles. Love them!

What is the best way to warm/prep bottles for feeds overnight?
I just microwave. We find that 15-20sec is perfect temperature. We just make sure we shake it really well to distribute heat.

How many bottles do you have?
We have 5 bottles

Can you microwave bottles at all or is it not recommended?
(see answer above about microwaving)

What is the deal with BPA free?
I have done heaps of research on this--here is just a bit.

BPA-is Bisphenol A. It is found in MANY plastic containers and most baby bottles. It is a hormone mimicking chemical. It has been known to cause hormonal imbalances in humans and studies have shown that babies have a higher amount of the BPA in their bodies because they are exposed to it the longest. If a bottle is worn/scratched or heated, BPA can leach into the milk.
http://www.bisphenolafree.org/ Has some stuff on it.

It really is a personal choice. Any plastic container with a number 7 on it (including kids drink cups) contains BPA. Same with the plastic microwaveable containers for food and such.

If you are worried, just google. There is tons about it.

How old is your bub and how much are they drinking and how often? Bub has been bottle fed since day 1. Now at 7weeks, he takes 125-175ml each feed

What fomula are you using? Karicare Gold

Do you have to sterilise bottles or just hot soapy water (I have been sterilising but keep getting told I don't have to)? I sterilise until bub is 12months old

What bottles do you use? Lindham, but used Avent with DD and had not probs.

What is the best way to warm/prep bottles for feeds overnight? I fill the bottles with 110ml (ish) cooled boiled water. During the night I add 50ml of hot water then add the powder. Makes the perfect temp.

How many bottles do you have? 6

Can you microwave bottles at all or is it not recommended? You can but you do need to mix up the formula well as it creates hot spots.

What is the deal with BPA free? No idea, sorry

How old is your bub and how much are they drinking and how often?
Liam has been bottle fed since day 1. Now he is having a lil breast milk (i always offer boob first during the day but he falls asleep and fusses) but he still has formula feeds regularly and at nite or when out. He is now 4wks old today and takes 125-150ml per feed every 2.5-3hrs after being on boob for 10-20mins, upto 150-175ml if i give bottle without boob. He's a lil piggy LOL.

What fomula are you using?
Like with DS1 i was using S26 Original Newborn as all others made him constipated. but as he has terrible reflux he is now on Karicare HA-AR and is doing really well (smells good compared to other formula too lol).

Do you have to sterilise bottles or just hot soapy water (I have been sterilising but keep getting told I don't have to)?
I will sterilise once a day until bub is 12months old but im not too worried bout doing it all the time.

What bottles do you use?
I was using the wide neck Nuk First Choice with Anti Colic teats but since switching formula have had to change to using Coles wide neck bottles with a 6+mths teat for the thickened formula (cant get fast flow teats for Nuk at my Coles, only medium). i still use the avent bottles i was given by a friend but with the Coles teats and they fit perfectly.

What is the best way to warm/prep bottles for feeds overnight?
I give it to him room temp but on cold nites ere i give the water 10secs in the microwave before mixing the formula. Easier for when out and about if they take it room temp. If im home i occasionally warm it to get him to sleep and settle faster but its not important.

How many bottles do you have?
5 x 125ml Avent bottles that i use with my Coles teats, 2 x 150ml Coles wide neck bottles, and i just bought 2 x Coles 280ml wide neck bottles today.

Can you microwave bottles at all or is it not recommended?
You can easily do this but only 10-20secs and you need to mix up the formula well to eliminate hotspots in it.

What is the deal with BPA free?
A chemical found in plastic that supposedly can impare brain development and hormone production in babies and young children. I dont bother with BPA free plastic and think if ur worried glass bottles are a better option cos theyre cheaper, heat well n last longer and you can get the Happy Baby or Nurture Pure at any KMart.

Hey Ky,
Kian is now 3 weeks old. He's on 100mls of Karicare Gold, although sometimes he decides he's hungrier so I make an extra 50mls. Like it's been said, the instructions on the tin are pretty specific.
I use Avent bottles, no specific reason, just what was on sale when I bought some. He's fine with them. I have 6 bottles which I fill with boiled water as needed. If we're going out I'll take a couple of bottles of water and I have the formula in one of the dispenser cups ready measured to go if needed. I usually have the formula ready to go for overnight feeds. And I also use a bottle warmer. I bought a Cherub baby warmer off ebay for $30.
I've never really worried about heating his bottles too much as he'll take it anyway it's offered, although I always take the chill off it if it's been in the fridge. At least room temp. I do find that a warm milk for the 3/4am feed works a treat in sending him back to sleep though.
He feeds every 3/4 hours during the day and can go up to 5/6 hours overnight.

Thanks for your replies everyone!

We are going good with the FF now. I did have him on Heinz Nurture but he just didn't like it. I now have him on S26 and he drinks twice as much so its the clear favourite! Thats why I was asking you gals how much your bubs drink as Zane was drinking only half the recommended amount on the tin so I was getting a little worried.

I am using the tommee tippee bottles as he has a definate preference for them too.

Thanks for the info on BPA Dangerkitty it is very interesting. I have now got the BPA free bottles.

Ushas, how long does it take to heat the bottle in the warmer?

Ushas
01-06-2009, 15:54
It doesn't take too long, just a few minutes. I pop the bottle in the warmer, switch it on, then go and pick Kian up, do a nappy change and by then the bottle is usually warmed enough. You can leave the bottle in the warmer for a bit too and it keeps the temp constant with this one.
LikeI said though, Kian isn't fussy about how warm the bottle is. He'll take it anyway, although I do always ensure it isn't below room temp.

Cheerio
01-06-2009, 18:16
Thanks Ushas :)
Zane will have it at any temp too but chuggs it down in half the time if its warm . I have to do the nappy change half way as otherwise he screams his head off and wakes DD. I swear that kid is the lightest sleeper ever :hair:

How old is your bub and how much are they drinking and how often? My lil man is 8 weeks old and during the day he is drinking every 3-4 hours....generally he drinks at 7....10-11..2-2.30....top up at 5 and trialling him on baby rice as he is so hungry, 6.30-7....12-2.....he only has 1 night feed. He drinks 180-260ml per feed....his is a big pig!

What fomula are you using? Was using Karicare Gold Plus but recently switched to SMA as it is meant to keep their tummies fuller for longer, tried him on this when he was little and made him very constipated but he is fine on it now.

Do you have to sterilise bottles or just hot soapy water (I have been sterilising but keep getting told I don't have to) Yes, I have the Avent Steriliser.

What bottles do you use? Avent 260ml bottles with Pigeon brand teats as he sucks these better than the Avent teats and they fit the Avent bottles.

What is the best way to warm/prep bottles for feeds overnight? Microwave, I have 4-5 bottles pre-prepared and I just heat them, I also have 1-2 bottles of boiled water so can also heat and make up as needed.

How many bottles do you have? 6 260ml bottles and 2 125ml bottles for top up feeds

Can you microwave bottles at all or is it not recommended? I do.....I also have an Avent bottle warmer but dont really use it.

I have a few questions about formula feeding if I may...how often does your bubs have a poo? I am wondering if my girl is going enough, she only goes once a day and often she goes every second day. Also she has wind problems and loves to hang onto her wind/and pops off alot she also hiccups and throws up a bit too and we are constantly having to use infants friend..could it be because of her formula s26 alpha gold? or because she has a slightly blocked nose? I got told by the nurse if a bubs has a slightly blocked nose it gives them wind? but then my doctor said most babies do have snuffly noses and the odd boogy? I am wondering if I should be changing formulas? Does anyone elses babies have a decent feed, go to sleep for an hour or so then want a top up? I know most of the time for me its because it takes so long for the wind to go then she burps and is hungry again....

kel87
08-07-2009, 16:23
greeneyes - i tried s26 gold and it made Jaxon constipated (every 2 days after lots of warm water) and made him chuck quite a bit and he was holding wind very badly so unsettled after an hour or so ... so i changed to Karicare (not gold) and haven't had any problems .. i also tried karicare gold and found it just wasnt right

apparently the "gold" formula's have a bit more iron than the standard formulas which "may" lead to constpation.

i think with FF sometimes its just trial and error with picking a formula and seeing how your bub responds.

Cheerio
08-07-2009, 18:09
kel87, same here!

We are now using Karicare original and I have a very happy, way less chucky bubbah and he poos once, sometimes twice a day.

Greeneyes, we were using Tommee Tippee bottles but have now switched to Mam Ultivent and his wind probs have almost gone. Just bear in mind too that bubs tummy can take a little time to adjust to formula so maybe that could be it too?

Its funny you raised the booger issue as maybe completely coincidental but my bubs stuffyness went away when we stopped using S26. Again maybe a complete coincidence.

Hope things are settling down for you :hugs:

Yeah they were. I just bought one Mam bottle to start with to see if it would make a difference (was a pain cos it felt like I was washing every 5 mins) and it did make a difference so I went and bought more. Maybe try that? I know though that other use the tommee tippe bottles and swear by them.

Greeneyes my DD is also on the s26 gold pro and only goes once a day most of the time. This doesn't seem to be a problem. I found it better than the normal s26 newborn. She gets wind like any bub but has only had it really bad on one occasion, we use the Avent bottles as you can have teats for different ages.

And yes sometimes she has a decent feed and wakes shortly after for a top up, my DD had been FF since 3 weeks (was born on 25/5).

Hope this helps..pm me if ya want.

Well I switched formulas last night to Karicare original, so far she is bringing up wind alot easier and pooing more :) She is still doing little baby spews(possetting?)here or there but no power chucks..I think maybe thats just her? or maybe shes having too much..I was a little worried of changing formulas because s26 alpha gold has all the extra nutrients but hopefully being on karicare original will still be good enough..

Kyky a question about the tomee tippee bottles, are they meant to have lots of air bubbles in them when feeding??

Cheerio
09-07-2009, 14:30
Greeneyes, its funny you ask that as I did notice that the formula is alot less frothy in the mam bottles once I shake it so less bubbles iykwim? I have no idea why that is but yeah lots of bubbles. And Zane is still a bit spewy but I think thats just him, once they are a bit bigger and their little valve thingy closes over they will be alot less chucky. Glad the Karicare is doing the trick!

how much is everyone's bubs having per feed?

DD is 11 weeks and still only taking like 100mls per feed...5 times a day! we are keeping an eye on her weight...she pout on like 50g in 2 weeks last weigh in, she is still putting on so that is the main thing! she isn't decreasing or stabilizing!! having wet and pooey nappies so no real dramas there.
Just curious!

DD was 5.5 kg last week at her weigh-in.

she seems happy enough and is on meds for silent reflux, so this could be part of the reason...and i guess if they aren't hungry what do ya do! you can't force them to feed.
But yeh i kinda worry she isn't getting enuf LOL! yet she has wet and pooey nappies!

greeneyes and kyky - yeh i noticed my formula gets quite frothy and only when jax drinks its like he blows back bubbles in to the bottle? I was wondering if it has anything to do with where you hold the bottle which way that anti-colic valve thing faces ie on top or bottom??

MLP - I feed my boy at 7 weeks 200ml each feed and he dirnks about 180 of it, we oly just changed him from 150 as he wasn't quite satisifed ... but I have a guts of a baby . weighing about 5kgs at the moment I think.

My baby girl is 7.5 weeks and has about 150-180ml most of the time but sometimes if shes extra sleepy she will only have 120-130ml...shes stacking on the weight at the moment! was 2.5 kilos when born and now shes about 4.5!

Yeh I was wondering which way the anti collic valve should be...top or bottom?

10-07-2009, 17:27
lol i cant believe that we are all so similar in asking the questions IYKWIM ... i have the valve up as well .. seems to work ok?

im also tempted to go up to the next 'flow' teat for the night feed because it takes so long sometimes ... but i think im just bein impatient ... that and i couldnt find the teats in two shops today!

i think every baby drinks what they need? but then in hospital i got told a baby is going to drink as much as it is offered when being FF as opposed to BF. But if i overfeed Jax he will generally chuck it back up at/on me! The guide on the back of the tins help, but a 'baby love' suggests 150ml per kilo of body weight .. 5kgs = 750ml / 5 feeds a day = 125ml per feed?? You will know if she is hungry/underfed so I wouldnt stress too much .. every baby is different.

Also, do you ladies burp your babies? i seem to burp at about halfway through the feed, then just before the feed is empty leaving a bit behind cos bub tends to get the hiccups so i need that to stop them! but some ppl say you dont need to burp babies?

Cheerio
10-07-2009, 22:43
Kel, I was thinking of going up to the next teats too, DS is just over 12 weeks so I think he is probably be ready. I burp DS about halfway too. If I don't burp him and lay him down it all comes up. That formula for working out the amount they should drink helps I think, cos if you think about the amount over the day it works rather than the mls per bottle hey.

MoOaNdLiTtLePoPpEt, silent reflux sounds awful, poor lil bubah. I wouldn't worry either, good nappies, gaining weight and she is happy, sounds like she is just perfect :)

greeneyes, sounds like you've got some good weight gain happnin there!

Best advice I got was that babies can't read! Don't worry about what it says on the tin as it really is just a guide. I would say if the dummy won't satisfy him he isn't comfort sucking and unless he is having unusually high weight gains I wouldn't worry.

Remember too, they can have growth spurts at 3 weeks, 6 weeks, 12 weeks and 6 months so maybe that could be it too if he is really cranky?

My DD is 7 weeks tomorrow and drinks a reasonable amount more than the tin recommends. The idea is 150ml per kilo of body weight as the minimum, if they want more they obviously need it. My bub is 4.5kg so her minimum is about 700ml per 24hrs..she drinks from this to 900 depending on the day. Screaming in hunger is no help to mum and family...of course this is bub no.1 so am no expert .

Hmmm looks like I have done the wrong thing with changing formulas...I tried karicare original and she didnt like that at all and kept burping HEAPS! So I went back to s26 alpha gold, shes not feeding well now :( Having her feeds in drips and drabs..less formula than normal and shes been grizzly

Does anyone have a sleepy baby when feeding? Trinity loves to fall asleep when feeding and takes forever to feed...the only time she feeds really good is when its been over 4 hours between feeds..Now im getting worried shes going to lose weight :(

Kian often falls asleep during feeds, especially if he's only been catnapping. But he still sucks and usually finishes most of the feed. But he's impossible to burp then!

Oh no! I know its probably not much help now but i also read only yesterday that changing formulas around can upset their bellies. You will probably find that she will settle for you soon. Go and get her weighed for your peace of mind too hun. :hugs: babies, they make your heart ache don't they, just wish they could talk!

My DS is now 3.7kgs & has 120mls every 4 hours. I'm having to add thickener to it though to try & help with the reflux. Those of you with bubs who still seem hungry after a feed, you can also thickener. It helps keep it down in their bellies, so less spewing, but also makes them a little fuller.

:hugs: hope she's feeling better soon.

If my DS falls asleep during a feed, I change his nappy half way through & find this wakes him up enough to finish it off.

Hi ladies

Im trying to find a formula for occasional use for DS. I've tried s26 and Karicare and both made him terribly windy, unhappy and he couldn't sleep because of the pain. Its not reflux or upper wind, its all lower wind. Has anyone has problems with these two formulas and can recommend a different one?

Also, Im lactose intolerant and have found that bubs can get windy if I eat too much lactose. But I read that its rare for bubs to have lactose intolerance? We tried the s26 LF formula but it didnt really make much difference. Also, I read on the pack after giving it to him that I shouldnt have given it without consulting a Dr. Anyone know why that is?

Afraid I can't help on teh formula but our CHN was only talking the other day that bubs can be latose intolerant.....she said it can be tested with a poo sample so may be worth checking with your GP.

The Dr bit is because they dont want you self diagnosing your baby is lactose intolerant. If you know your baby is lactose then it is fine to use :)

my son is lactose intorelnt... he is on Kari kare Soy... he has been tested etc...

Formala i have been told thats good for basic formula is SMA its in a pink tin.. its about $14 and my friends child found that it stops her baby from chucking lots.. coz its a real basic formula, not like s26 etc where it has the add crap in it!! dont kno worth a try, u might have to try a few to see what suits your bubba :)

good luck

weve had supply issues and we have topped up with formula from day 1. DD had terrible problems with s26, made her so windy and constipated. We have found nann HA gold is the best. It dissolves easily and its very neutral in smell. I guess youve gotta try and find the right fit for your bubs. Trust my daughter to like the ore expensive stuff..... chip off the old block.

How old is your bub and how much are they drinking and how often? 4 months, taking anywhere from 80ml to 200ml per feed.

What fomula are you using? S26 LF

Do you have to sterilise bottles or just hot soapy water (I have been sterilising but keep getting told I don't have to).
washing in hot soapy water & boiling

What bottles do you use? Avant

What is the best way to warm/prep bottles for feeds overnight? We make a 1.5L jug at a go & warm in the mic as we need

How many bottles do you have? 25

Can you microwave bottles at all or is it not recommended? Yes, just make sure you give it a shake to avoid hot spots.

What is the deal with BPA free? I have no idea

How old is your bub and how much are they drinking and how often?
DD was 3.5 months old when i started to introduce formula for her last feed of the day. She was & is drinking 240ml each bottle feed.

What fomula are you using?
S26 newborn original

Do you have to sterilise bottles or just hot soapy water (I have been sterilising but keep getting told I don't have to)
I was told to sterilise till bubs is 6 months old. So i'm sterilising till then.

What bottles do you use?
Avent

What is the best way to warm/prep bottles for feeds overnight?
I just sit the bottle in some boiling water to warm up. I usually sterilise then add cooled boiled water so it's all ready to go next day.

How many bottles do you have? 2 at the moment (will get more) as i'm still doing couple BF's till i wean DD of the boobies.

Can you microwave bottles at all or is it not recommended?
You can but i prefer not to.

As for the burping, i always burp DD after a feed regardless of it being a BF or FF. It makes for a happy baby & less like y to get a projectile spew later also.

With regards to how often bubs will poo, i believe it's normal for them to drop to once a day or every couple of days as they get older. Just make sure you're also giving water to bubs to reduce risk of constipation.

How old is your bub and how much are they drinking and how often? 4 and a half months. Lucas drinks about 180ML every 3 hours and Maddy drinks about 120ML every 3 hours

What fomula are you using? Lucas is on s26 and Maddy is on s26 LF

Do you have to sterilise bottles or just hot soapy water? just hot soapy water.. did sterilise up until 4 months

What bottles do you use? NUK

What is the best way to warm/prep bottles for feeds overnight? i put cooled boling water in their bottles but dont add the forumla until i need the bottle!! then i just put it in hot water!

How many bottles do you have? 8

Can you microwave bottles at all or is it not recommended? yes you can but i dont!!! i just always have put them in hot water but there is no major reason for that!!

What is the deal with BPA free? dont really know but i use BPA free!!

I've been bottlefeeding my 4 month old DS for the last month.

He has SMA formula

He drinks 210ml feeds 5x a day

I wash his bottle in soapy water and then either but them in a steam steriliser in the microwave for 5 mins or just use boiling water out of the kettle.

I make all the bottle up for that day with boiled water and then refidgerate. I add formula in as he needs a bottle as not to worry about it going 'off' in the heat when we go out for trips.

I use Avent bottles because I could only find an Avent breastpump that was electronic and have been very happy with them.

I have 5 bottles

I do put mine in the microwave cos i use a microwave steriliser.

Hope this helps x

How old is your bub and how much are they drinking and how often? almost 10 weeks, 120ml 5 - 6 feeds a day

What fomula are you using? Nestle Nan HA Gold 1

Do you have to sterilise bottles or just hot soapy water (I have been sterilising but keep getting told I don't have to) I wash mine in hot soapy water then sterilise in the microwave

What bottles do you use? Pigeon Peristaltic bottles - i found my daughter hated the wider nipples that are in the avent or tommee tippee

What is the best way to warm/prep bottles for feeds overnight? I just put the amount I need in each bottle, leave it on the bench and microwave the water for a few seconds just to take the edge off - she mostly drinks room temp though.

How many bottles do you have? I have about 10 - 6 of them are the 150ml size the rest are bigger, but i only feed her in 90ml increments so don't necessarily need the bigger ones.

Can you microwave bottles at all or is it not recommended? yes as far as I am aware

What is the deal with BPA free? mmm think it is better for baby?

I burp her frequently or she will vomit it up and she averages 1 poop a day. and they smell :(
