Question - we have had one successful pregnancy froma frozen embryo transfer (3 years ago) and have gone back to do IVF again. My question is, how long should I be on Crinone?

My previous transfers I was always on the Crinone until a negative pregnancy test. We are going through a new IVF clinic (we moved) and they only give enough Crinone for 14 days. Then you have to wait eight more days until BT.

Is the clinic cost cutting? Should I be asking for Crinone up to a BT confirms negative or positive? I really thought I was pregnant this time as it felt really different to other transfer but still didn't work. But that was three days after Crinone stopped.

I have four more embryos to transfer and I really want to give it the best chance - anyone out there can tell me their experience?

I have not done a FET.... but I would contact your IVF Nurse or Patient Co-ordinator as to whether you need more Crinone.
Good Luck with your cycle!

Thanks - it's so nice to meet others going through IVF - wish I had had this seven years ago when we first started!
Has anyone else gone through Westmead IVF? - I have heard mixed opinions about them and am finding them very busy when I am there.

We had 38 eggs but only 6 embryos and the fresh transfer didn't work so am waiting until next AF to try a frozen cycle. Am feeling positive as our first DS was a frozen embryo. Have asked the nurse about using more Crinone but she said that two weeks was their policy so I guess I'm still in the dark! Just want to get it right and have another bub!:)

Hi Busymumof2, I used crinone for 15 days(that's how many were in the box). We conceived on a fresh cycle, so I've not done a FET yet. My clinic basically said that 2 weeks after ET if you're pregnant then your bodies natural progesterone should kick in by itself therefore no need to continue. But if you've had previous progesterone problems then they would keep you on it a little longer. What's your history?

Thanks for your answer - I guess I just get so preoccupied with questioning everything!! Trying soooo hard!!! I had a successful FET four years ago and used pessaries for 14 weeks so I have never used the gel before and I know that technology moves on so maybe 2 weeks is right then.

We had 28 eggs last EPU. 16 embryos worked and first fresh transfer didn't work but I was kind of expecting that as my body doesn't like all the drugs. However when we were due to have FET Westmead rung and said that all 12 frozen embryos hadn't defrosted successfully. :( Still don't know what went wrong - they said it was genetic but we told them we have a DS from an FET.

We just did an EPU (June) and they said they would monitor me better so that there weren't as many eggs but I still had to insist on any earlier U/S and guess what we were at 17 so by EPU had 38. I was in so much pain!!!!!:crying:

Fresh transfer didn't work (no great surprise to me). but now am unsure about when to go again for the FET - any suggestions? - should I wait for another AF and then go after that or wait longer. We waited 5 years last time because we fostered a little baby girl ( she lives permanently with us now) She is just gorgeous!

Anyway that's a little bit about me - any ideas gratefully accepted!!!!
