All I keep reading is "don't buy off ebay" - I sell great MCNs on ebay, and I can see a few others that look great on there too.
Yes there is complete garbage on there too, but you need to sort through the rubbish and look for the MCNs using quality fabrics and check the feedback. I have only ever gotten wonderful feedback and an very proud of my nappies - its upsets me that peoples comments on forums can lose business for us WAHMs with well made products.

I found some good quality nappies on Ebay called bubba moo I think, I wouldn't buy them though because they are a bit more expensive than the nappies I normally buy. They do look good and I wouldn't discount all ebay nappies, I'm often on there looking for some untapped bargains:)

Unless your an experienced MCN buyer - I'd be careful of buying nappies you've never heard of on Ebay.

I think this is the major issue. People who are new to MCN's have no idea about which are the most absorbant fabrics and some sellers ads are just ridiculous! I read one on there a few weeks ago which claimed that their AIOs were made using flanelette which was 'the most absorbant available' Umm...... WTF?? NO IT'S NOT!! But someone who didn't know that would probably think 'oh great and it's cheap!' buy it, then be totally disappointed and disheartened and give up.
I think if you know what you're looking for/at then it's perfectly safe to buy off ebay.

Thats what I mean - if you do your research an know what a MCN should be made from to get good absorbency, comfort ect, then you can sort through and find the good ones. Surely the bodgey ones are getting some seriously bad feedback??

:iagree: all times I have searched on ebay for mcn's they have either been brands which I have never heard of before or 2nd hand well known brands all of which much more expensive than buying brand new elsewhere. I like to hear other mums using the nappies with sucess before I purchase, especially if there expensive.

Some people don't or can't try them as soon as they get them, so just leave good feedback hoping they turn out well...
I personally don't buy on ebay unless its a well known brand (which has to be new to sell on ebay!)

I do agree with needing a bit of MCN experience under your belt to be better able to pick the good from the bad.
I have bought nappies from Oztion twice and eBay once. One Oztion buy was BAD. One fantastic. The ebay one was quite average.
As a rule though I'd ask for tons of photos and to know all about what goes in the nappies before buying.

You could try buyforbaby, it only has cloth nappies and the cheapie asian rip-offs haven't made it there yet.
Otherwise there is Ozebaby or something like WAHMnaps?

minicuteture? nappychic?
i look on ebay all the time as a matter of interest....many of the wahm nappies look wrong and there are a couple of dodgy dealers that rip mums off and as pp stated don't seem to know alot about absorbant materials

If you are in a populated area, then trying out the local markets would likely be a good idea (and have the added benefit of spreading the word to those that haven't heard of them before).

if you want to take nappy making seriously do not sell on Ebay. You need to open your own store or open in a mall type thing like minicuture, ozebaby ect. IMO no one will take you seriously if you sell on ebay.

The problem with using Ebay feedback to judge the quality of WAHMs is that feedback is usually left just after receiving the items and it usually relates more to the transaction and service, rather than how well the product actually works. JMO.
I agree, you have to do your research on fabrics and I have gone so far as to contact 'historical' purchasers of WAHM MCNs on Ebay (say 3-4 months old) and sent them emails questioning the quality.
I recently tried B4B and have been waiting OVER A MONTH to receive the nappies - which DS will have grown out of by the time or IF they ever arrive. I have contacted the seller 3 times and 10 days ago I was told yet again that they were "posted today" but they have still not arrived. I lodged an "abuse report" on B4B but have not heard anything from Admin.

How do you do that? I thought you could only send messages to people who currently have items for sale, or that you have a recent transaction with.

Nah....if you go to the sellers feedback and check out what they've sold and to who, you can click on the buyers name which takes you to their profile and on the left is a 'contact member' button. You usually have to enter one of those 'weird codes in a box' to send the message if you don't have a transaction, but it can be done :) I'm always nice in my email and apologise in advance for contacting them like that, but most that I've contacted have replied quite favourably.

I have bought some absolute crap off ebay, however it was my own fault for not doing my homework first and not knowing what i was looking for. It was at the beginning of my cloth adventure 12 months ago. I have since purchased some good ones off ebay, although only because they were well priced.

yep, no one i know buys from ebay. i would suggest finding a spot in a wahm site, such as ozebaby ect, and also posting links to your naps through mcn forums {text removed by moderator}, get the ladies to know you and your product and go from there. ive never bought a nappy from ebay and never will

Thanks for all of the honest replies. I have a few other things that I make, so I might start and contact some Wahm/malls and see how I go.
And I know what you mean about feedback on ebay usually being b4 nappy is properly tested - but I have perfected my nappies over the past 6 years (yes I have not had a nappy free kid in the last 6 years - note to self, toilet train DS3 tomorrow) so I know they are good, and I get repeat business and bulk orders - a good sign I would think:thumbsup:
I guess I just get really protective as bad comments on these parenting sites must affect the good sellers on ebay.

Just gonna hijack the thread a bit lol.
Someone mentioned mums who sell nappies at markets.
Do any Perthies know of anyone that sells nappies at markets in Perth?
I was at the Freo markets the other day and all I came across was a stall that sold slings, tie dyed singlets and suits and cute little shoes.
