View Full Version : wearing clothes over nappies
So now that it's heading into winter, bub is wearing pants over his nappy for warmth. My problem is that the elastic on the pants often push down the top of his nappy and it all kind of just bunches together under his pants. So now I sometimes get leakages at the top of his nappy.
Does anyone else have this problem? Or is it just me? Any solutions?

I generally buy a size larger pants than bub actually wears. She fits an 0 but i have brought her 1's, and this has overcome the problem, the pants reach over her nappy and although they are a bit loose at the waist, they cant fall down because of the nappy....seems to work. i do have some trimer type nappies to fit under her jeans (like itti's, which are trim)
Or i use baby legs :D

hmmmmm I dont know! how old is bubs? what nappies do you use??? My DD is only 6mo and only sitting and I havent had an issue yet....
There is a brand of clothing called cut for cloth that is...... bigger sized in the bum for cloth nappies but other then that I dont know..... trackies are great and stretchy, pumpkin patch 6 -9mo pants do not fit my 6mo DD due to her nappy, actually many pants dont.... hmmmmm target pants seem ok for now...... I tend to use babylegs under pinafores on her atm........
I use Issy Bear nappies most of the time, and I don't have that problem. It is surprisingly very trim for an OSFM. The nappy sits on the waist at the moment, and it does not go anywhere!
However when I use Itti's I sometimes notice that the nappy is dragged down, maybe because it is a very low rise design and when bub wets a lot the nappy is very heavy?
I used to think that bub has to have a different kind of clothes now that he's on cloth, but surprisingly we haven't had to, bub is wearing exactly the same wardrobe that my older child had, and my older child was on sposies.

just buy a size or 2 bigger and buy pants that are looser around the waist. i find that my magicalls stick out over the top of the pants but are covered by the shirt. or you can just buy shirts that are 2 sizes too big and let them wear that around the house.
i keep forgetting to buy some babylegs.

hey thanks for ur experiences. So glad to here its doable without too much worry.
Pinafores and little dresses with MCNs would be so cute!! esp now with all the lush fabrics and embrodiery :) I have a little boy though so i might get some weird looks if i try that
My bubs is 11 months old and it'll be cute having him in nappies with nice covers and looking babyish - he'll be grown up soon enough.
Totally know what u mean about babylegs, I really need to get some leg warmers and give em a go

i usually have the top of the nappy sitting above the waist line of the pants...like its peeking out the top shouting out "i got a fluffy bum" so i don't mind it hehe :)
