sorry if this has already been asked.. I did a quick search and couldn't find anything

I'm having a trial pack of nappies made (by a fellow hubber no less! :D)

She asked if I'd rather snaps or velcro on them.. I have no idea! DS is 12kg/14 months now and I'd like them to last until TT if possible. They are sized (large)

what are your thoughts? which is better?
thanks!

i like snaps

harder for the child to get off.

I think I prefer snaps. Velcro is probably easier to put on a squirming bub, but it gets a bit gunky over time, bits of fluff, hair etc in it and get stuck on other nappies in the wash (unless you have a great memory and remember to use the laundry tabs which I never do:o). I also hear when some babies get older, they start to undo velcro pretty easily.

I prefer snaps, although velcro is much easier however DD pulls off her nappies!!

velcro gives a MUCH better fit than snaps.. but as its been said snaps are harder for little fingers to undo!!

I'm going to go against the grain and say I prefer velcro. It's so much quicker and easier to get on a wriggly toddler and as the PP said, it gives a better fit.

DD can undo snaps almost as easily as velcro so makes no difference there.

Velcro is great but my 14 month old is constantly undoing them! Its fine though because now i have an excuse to buy more....with snaps :D:D

I say snaps.

They both have upsides.

Snaps last longer generally and don't have to be folded over for washing like velcro does.
Velcro gives (IMO) a better fit, but snaps are more reliable and will stay put.

I have weird kids who only take nappies off at bath-time though, so I can't say about the 'child-proof'-ity of each choice.

I prefer snaps also. The velcro sticks to things in the wash too often lol one of my pet peeves.

can you get her to make you one of each???

I love the fit of velcro...

but snaps can't be taken off...

velcro is much easier to put on.

and also easy to take off...

BUT.. I always find if they're wearing shorts over their nappy... they don't take it off anyway.

Snaps stay looking better for longer...

BUT... velcro gives a better fit and is easier to put on.

I prefer snaps, and have snaps on all my good ones. However, when I got really tired I found my fingers aching operating the snaps. So having a few with velcro for lazy times would probably be a good idea.

That is a good point tiera. Velcro is middle-of-the-night proof, snaps however..... It can be surprising how badly wrong snaps on nappies can go! :dizzy:

I'm for both...Velcro is great for adjustability and ease of use...and much easier to get onto a wriggling bub. The carer at daycare loves it as it's more like a disposie.
Then on the other hand of course the snaps are great, as others have said, for the fact that bub can't get them undone and they do stay neat & tidy whereas velcro does tend to get stuff caught in it.

starting out i preferred velcro because it was easier and i found the snaps fiddly but now i am a pro :)

also all the nappies i want (and the ones in high demand) are mostly snaps

for putting on velcro is easier (but then if bubs is wiggling away i still find it hard to get a tight fit). good for when grandparents change the nappy as its pretty fullproof to not get it on right

maintenance - its a pain in the butt having to fold back the velcro tabs and snaps look so much neater and nicer and you don't have to worry picking the lint out

I like snaps. I didn't think I'd like velcro at all. I got a BG V3 a few weeks ago. I was right. I hate hook & loop.
