Hi Guys,
Just wanted to see what everyone else does in regards to drinking alcohol whilst TTC.
Do you avoid it completely, only avoid it once you're in the two week wait, allow yourself a couple, think it's ok to get drunk???
Please answer my poll and feel free to comment too.

I voted "before ovulation" but I don't drink that much anyway. When we first started ttc, I stopped all alcohol and avoided foods that I shouldn't eat while pregnant etc. But after going through 2 early losses, I gave up that strategy. I know I'm not pregnant from AF to O so I'll have a drink here or there during that 2 weeks, but I avoid alcohol in the tww (like right now!).
I didn't drink at all when I decided starting to TTC nor when I was pregnant/ breastfeeding.
for those who don't drink during the 2 week wait (but do before) why is this?

I voted here & there as I try to not let myself get to obessed with what i can do & cant do with TTC. In saying that i dont really drink much anyway maybe only on special occasions.
KiKi - I think most people dont drink in the TWW because this is after ovulation & when fertilization occurs so they want to give every chance possible for there body to allow this to happen without anything lowering there chances of pregnancy.
Hope that helped.:)
I had a chardy when ever i felt like it during the whole 11 months of TTC
I believe in everything in moderation and i dont believe a couple of drinks can harm although stressing about everything could ..........just my opinion
but I dont drink now as we are expecting :):)
The bub doesn't share Mum's blood supply til a couple weeks after fertilisation. I was just asking because some people worry about what they have done/drunk/ate before they realise they are pregnant, and don't realise that it takes around 2 weeks before bub makes blood vessels to link into mum's blood supply and so the alcohol isn't going in to the bub.

I voted "no, not at all" but that's just me... I don't like drinking no matter what... Just cos I don't... I don't think one or two here and there whilst TTC is ok though...

I think avoiding the alcohol at all expense will be the best option when you try to conceive
When we were ttc the first time last year Novmber, I was pregnant straight away (on first try). That time I didn't drink much or at all.
Unfortunately I had a m/c in March 2009. We started trying again in April 2009, during that month I got a friend visited from overseas. I drank quite a lot. We ttc on the right (fertile) days (so we think) and I am not pregnant :(
I was trying to think of the reason as to why I didn't get pregnant (I even had ovulation bleeding happening to indicate that I was ovulating!!!). Finally I blame it on the alcohol!!!!
I know its cliche, but alcohol does you no good anyway, so I guess it's better to just avoid it.
You will be able to have all the alcohol you want when you have a bub in your hand :p
Good luck to all of you who is trying. :)
xx
