I need some extra boosters or inserts which I can use in a variety of pocket nappies, but getting confused with the amount of different styles. Also don't want to pay a fortune.
Which is the most absorbant material? Bamboo? I know terry towelling and cotton don't hold much at all of ds's wee at all lol. & some people say that hemp begins to smell?? Which is the best way to go?? :o

I like bamboo the best very absorbent but i find it does take a bit to dry! Have you tries ebay oe even nappychino auctions there is sometimes bargains on there of people sellin variety of boosters!
I think microfibre actually holds the most liquid out of all of them but the problem is it can leak out when under compression . Alot of nappy makers are using a microfibre and bamboo combo as the microfibre holds heaps and the bamboo traps it in IYKWIM  .
As for pocket inserts most people tend to go for bamboo as it is very absorbant and quite trim - but it costs alot more . the greenkids inserts get great reviews and sometimes you can pick up seconds on Ozebaby . Or maybe baby beehinds bamboo fold ups might work , they are not too pricey if you buy a bulk pack .
I picked up some bumgenius microfibre boosters from Nurture Nappies for a few dollars each a while ago , not sure if they have any left - check out the specials page .
I love the absorbancy of the bamboo(both of my girls are heavy wetters), but they do take a long long time to dry(especially as we head into the winter months and I don't have a drier!). I haven't tried hemp or microfibre so can't comment there.

I find microfibre boosters dry very quickly. Especially important when you're in Melbourne with no dryer! I'm not a big fan of hemp to be honest, but bamboo or microfibre would be fine as boosters.

I agree with the others about bamboo and microfibre. I think peapods have some microfibre inserts/boosters but bamboo is kinda expensive. I've never noticed drying time issues because I generally leave them for 2 days to dry anyway. Greenkids seconds inserts can be quite cheap as mundyc says!
I am not a huge fan of hemp. It gets so crunchy...

Thanks plenty for all your replies. Looks as though bamboo is generally the most preferred and absorbant. Drying time doesn't both me too much as I have inside lines and might be able to put them infront of the heater etc.
