I came home today from being out all arvo and I found a bag left on my doorstep. My DP cuz had dropped off a bag full of plastic pilchers in 000. They have the material with cute pictures on the outside and the plastic on the inside. They are all new and she uses them on her baby and swears by them being super cheap and don't cause any probs for her bub.

I was wondering should I chuck them or TRY and use them. Seems a waste of a product and DP wouldn't be pleased if I threw away his cuz good will.

I dunno, feeling a bit in two minds here LOL.

It all I used for DS because its all I knew. We never had issues with them at all. I'd keep them for spares.

use them, or try them they can't hurt, especially if you're on a budget.

In my opinion, it wouldn't hurt to give them a try, but I never liked them with my first bub (15 years ago, using terry flats) and ended up preferring not to use a cover at all - which resulted often needing to change bubs whole outfit whe changing nappies, but I thought that was preferrable to redness and rashes around the legs.

So they cause rashes? Is that what the prob is? They don't *breathe*? I would use them on terry flats and prefolds.

They can cause rashes but thats usually if you leave bub in a wet nappy too long or if the elastic around the legs causes a bit of irritation.

I tried one, but my bubba was allergic to the plasticy stuff so we use wool. Wouldn't hurt to give them a go though :)

That's fair enough.

I dont think you will be able to use them with prefolds because they wont hold it in place....?

I was gonna use a snappi on the prefolds. I wouldn't do up a nappy without securing it with something first.

On that note, I've used terry flats on a newborn without pins or a snappi. I would tuck in the flaps and then clip up a suit around it. Since a newborn doesn't move that much, it works as long as the clothing has clips under the nappy area.
