Hello

I am looking to do some work from home but just don't know where to start.

I have tried Melaleuca and Avon before but they just weren't for me.

I live an hour from town and not sure about sending my boys to daycare. DS1 starts prep next year.

Any help would be great.
Thankyou

Have you thought about being a medical transciptionist? Basically you just turn dictated letters into typed letters. You'd need good internet access, good typing and spelling skills and a good computer. There are courses that you can do to get you started.

Hhmmm nope never heard of it. I just bought this laptop a couple months back and I also have my desktop, which is great. I love typing and my spelling isn't too bad at all. Got the internet aswell. :)

How do I find out more?

My goodness thank you ever so much for this tip! I've been struggling to find work since I was laid off in February after many years of loyal service! The economy problems forced the closure of my workplace and it was a sad day indeed. Now I'm showing no one wants to know me at job interviews so I've been trying to find short term temp contracts - also with no luck! :(

I've never heard of this kind of work, so glad I popped into this thread. My average typing speed is 117 wpm with high accuracy and I have many years dictaphone/minutes experience so I'm hoping that gives me an edge.

I do worry about the course costs though and how much work is actually available in Australia. I see course sites quoting USA statistics though none for Australia/NZ so far. I don't want to throw $2000+ down the drain for an industry that really hasn't taken off here. With a baby on the way I have to be careful, naturally, so is there anyone out there who has worked in the transcription industry in Australia? Is there enough work to justify an expensive course? If so I'm all for it. I do see some cheaper courses though they aren't 'recognised'.
