Helloooo excuse me picking your brains again.

I'm giving my talk tomorrow, it is a 'promotional' talk so I am talking about benefits of subscription to the ABA, and of the ABA generally.

I wondered if anyone could let me know what these were for them?

I think for me the main thing is really the normalisation of breastfeeding... being able to go somewhere where everyone breastfeeds and has had different experiences and you don't have to worry you are offending a bottle feeder simply by the fact that you breastfeed etc.

If you are an ABA subscriber, and/or go to meetings, what have you got out of it?

THanks :)

I am a subscriber but have only gone to one meeting. I really liked the free book. I do read the magazine when it arrives too. I haven't used the online stuff or bought/hired anything though.

For some people I would agree it probably is a good place to discuss breastfeeding and your parenting style (especially if you are into co-sleeping). It's a good support for those people who might not have a lot in common with a mainstream mother's group.

Hi Maire...Good luck for tomorrow:thumbsup:
I think the best thing I have gained from the ABA is the support, and the celebration of bfing. My family and friends give me a fair bit of grief about when I am going to stop/is that child still on your tit again ..but the women at the ABA..meetings, over the phone, even just reading the magazine make me feel secure that what I am doing is totally normal. Bfing isn't easy...the act is, but it can be really time consuming. i don't mind..I love that interraction with my DD, but everyone else seems to feel like she has stolen me. It is a commitment between my daughter and myself, an act of love, and nowhere else do I feel that is cherished as much as when I am talking to someone affiliated with the ABA.
