HI all,
I desperately need some reassurance or advice!
My husband has had a bad head cold, whilst I have had only moderate symptoms (slightly achy, and raspy throat). My 10 week old is not congested, is feeding well, has no fever and has had a GP check him over and gotten the all-clear.
I am still a little concerned about him however as he just seems a little bit listless, needs HEAPS of sleep (like 18-20 hours per day) and just generally seems to have lost some of his "spark". He hardly cries at all and seems to be in a bit of a daze a lot of the time. This has been going on for about a week and it is starting to freak me out!
I am wondering if my son is likely to feel somewhat similar to me (as he has been receiving my antibodies through my breastmilk and may have contracted only the same low-grade symptoms like myself) and therefore is just slightly miserable and behaving accordingly, or whether there may be somethig else that is wrong.
The GP said that he would cry a lot if he felt bad and that there is nothing wrong with him...but a mother knows when a baby is not himself.
Can anyone shed any light on the variety of baby behaviour when they are a little off-colour - do they always cry or can they sometimes just go a bit quiet?
Cheers!
