I don't know if our progress is all that successful.
We've been out of nappies (DD 2 1/2) in the day for 5 weeks now. Some days we'll have no accidents but it seems more often than not i end up with one or two wees in pants a day.
It seemed so successful, DD would pronounce that she needed to go or occassionally take herself, but now, it's like she just couldn't be bothered and if she does wet her pants she just says 'never mind'.
No. 2's are another story and i certainly don't think we can ditch the night time pull ups.
I ask her constantly - perhaps too much, but then the time you don't ask, you almost always have an accident.
She'll say no that she doesn't need to sit on the toilet and do wee's but turn your back and two minutes later, wet pants, and carpet and shoes. Urgh!
Is it me? I don't think we are having much success at all.

This sounds like my son 22 months and we have been out of nappies for around a month both day and night at home and out.
The days we are out of the house we will have zero accidents but the days we spend majourity of the day at home and I can bet my life on it that we will have 1-2 accidents just because he doesn't want his undies off or he is playing and doesn't want to be disturbed, even though he is sitting there holding his willy... Seconds later he will get up and wee...grrr

Night have been accident free since two days in but for the last 3 night he has had an accident just after we have taken him to the toilet. So he will call fro me (30weeks preg) at 4am to go to the toilet and then refuse to sit on the toilet, i take him back to bed 30 minutes later he cries out because his bed is wet...grrr

WHY oh WHY do they do this... I think it is a control thing, but what do we do???

sorry to blah blah blah but i thought it might help to know you arent alone...

To me fully toilet trained, means no nappies - at all.
So day trained means no nappy at all in the day, just at night and night trained means no nappy at night, so fully trained to me means both day and night.

My DD1 was toilet trained for daytime before she was 3 (started at 2.5yrs and took a few months before she didn't need a nappy for daysleeps and going out, but was okay whilst at home) and now at 3.5yrs has toilet trained her self for the night time.
So she is 3.5yrs fully toilet trained.

DD2 will start hopefully in the Spring when its warmer and she will be 2yrs.

Fully toilet trained for me means that the child is responsible for all their toileting and can manage it on their own.

My mum claims I was fully toilet trained by two, but she's kidding herself. She would put me on the toilet partway through the night until I was 5 just in case.

If you're talking just day time, my definition of fully toilet trained is they don't have big accidents anymore.

I trained DS in 4 hours at 25 months (3 Day Potty Training program) and since then he has only pooed his pants twice (that was in the first 5 days, and he hasn't done that since) and occasionally he has 'damp' underwear but he always catches it and finishes in the toilet (that only happens if he's very busy playing).

Apart from that he never has accidents and wakes up dry 90% of the time. As far as I'm concerned DS is fully day time TT and getting there with nights.

I class fully toilet trained as no nappies at all and accidents only once in a very blue moon.
