View Full Version : Magic May Babies #1
ooooo we get to start a thread!!!!
woohoo!!!
How are we all?
Technically I should still be preggers. It's great to have popped a bit early.
So... what to do?

So much for either of us being last, huh Herchy.
I'm tired... just when I think she's gonna actually do some sleeping at night she... um, well doesn't lol.
How are you?
Hehe I know! I could have sworn I'd be last.
We're going well. Tired, but I'm actually amazed at the amount of sleep we are getting. Allira only wakes every 3-4 hourly for feeds. Her bro was every 1-2 hours... that was a nightmare. This time is great, and DS sleeps all night and for about 3 hours during the day. Brag brag brag... ahahahahaha.
My boobs are MASSIVE and engorged, but will hopefully settle soon.
I have the Dom midwife coming tomorrow and then MCHN on Thursday.
OOO and MIL is picking up my Pram on Tuesday and I can't wait to get it together! I was going to pick it up on Weds just gone, but kind of had to detour to the hospital and give birth instead. LMAO
Just wanna give the May Mums a big HUG:hugs: as we shared the pregnancy together but in Diff Birth groups... Much love to you all & I hope to still keep in touch with ya all xxx
Ok so I am off to join April mummies too. Was going to hang out with you lot but after reading their thread alot of them are in the same boat as me so :crying:
Will pop in from time to time to see how you all are going with your beautiful bubbahs.
Aww we are not going to have very many may mummies then :(
I'm going to miss you girls if you leave. You will always be may mummies to me.
How is everyone going?
We're just waiting for Dom Mid to come around... should be any time from now. Allira is still feeding and sleeping very well... waiting for it to stop soon.
We tried to put her in an 'easysuit' before and we've decided that maybe we might give it to someone else when they have a girl. That thing is HORRIBLE! Whomever designed needs a good kick in the head that's for sure. LOL
Allira has really gunky eyes... probably blocked tear ducts and has had from birth. We are having to clean them several times a day. Poor little girl. Also, her cord stump has become a bit irritated and bled a little before. :( She's in the wars already!
Anyway, best be off. I've been doing tonnes of housework today.... maybe my nesting instinct kicks in a bit late.
Talk to you all soon hopefully. Can't wait until we get a few more mummies in here!
ok so i havent jumped ship yet :o
Herchy, Zane had shocker gunk eyes and breastmilk squirted in his eye cleared it up within days, if you haven't already tried it.
I was going to try one of those easysuits but you are about the 5th to say they are crap! easy my butt huh!

Hi ladies!! I was in the due in May forum but manly only posted in the twins due in May thread!
I had boy/girl twins on May 6th. Maddison and Lucas!! I ended up with an emergeny c section as Lucas's heart rate decreased dramatically and showed no signs of improving!
We are all doing really well! Having a few problems with them at night... they wake so many times but its only early days!
How is everyone else doing?

HI GIRLS!
Finally we have a thread!!!! :yelclap:
KYKY and BEV dont go, :( we're all very close in dates, the month doesnt matter! :D
Well im here to brag too, Landen wakes every 4 hrs over night and 4-5hrs during the day.
He settles himself to sleep in his cradle and rarely needs a dummy.
Absolutely love him to pieces and very happy with my family now! :valentine: :goodvibes: :cloud9:
Hi Mummy2twins and Mumsiemel!!
So glad to hear you are both doing well!
Kyky - the gunky eyes.... did the BM draw more out before they got better? Allira's seem to be getting a bit worse and I'm having to clean then at every feed (3-4 hours) and squirt them with more milk. I am hoping that they clear up by Monday otherwise midwife said we need to take her to GP.
Still going really well here. SO well the DH is out in the shed doing his own thing and I am inside with the kids . LOL
DS is so great with Allira and Allira is such a great feeder and sleeper at this stage. I cannot beleive how well it's going... i's so much easier than I expected I am just waiting for it all to crumble.
We are going to go for a drive later today and head to the small town nearby to post a package and do a few things. Our first outing with 2 kids!!! I think I will need to take the camera.
have a great day girls! And I agree... if you were due in May you are still a may mummy to me. If you want to stay in this group, please feel free!! I will miss anyone that leaves but I will stalk you if you do. LOL
xxoo
Hiya Mumsiemel, glad to hear your so happy with your new bundle.
mummytotwins, two babies night waking would be very hard. I hope you have got heaps of support. Good to hear they are doing so well! Got any pics to share?
Herchy, yeah the gunkyness seemed to increase heaps but I also in my current zombie like state had been wiping the gunk back into the corner of the eye and not to the outside edge like I should. As soon as I started doing that and increasing the boobie juice squirts it got heaps better.
Ok so I am staying :D
So does anyone have any good tips for wind? Zane has been having shocker wind as my milk is just coming out so fast he gulps so much I can hear him gulping air so he ends up in agony. So far I have tried, rocking over my knee, bycycle legs, gentle tummy massage, up on my shoulder and obviously burping really well. I haven't got any infacol so will prolly try that next. Really I wish my blardy milk would slow up a bit so that it settles for him.
So are we all exhausted? I am absolutely freakin shattered BUT my plan is to get them both to nap at the same time today so I can too....we will see!!!

regarding wind...
DO NOT let them lay flat at all!
Raising one end of their bed, change table/mat etc. this will help.
A nice deep warm bath will help ease the pain.
If it gets to out of control try Brauers Colic relief, its good.
HERCHY
My DH has gone back to work this week and i must say we are coping very well, Landen seems to time waking up for when we need to go out, smart man! :hugs:
MUMMY2TWINS
Hope you can sort out their sleeping :hugs:
Your pics are great!
Re sleeping, im not doing too bad, managing about 8 broken hrs a night and try to fit in a nap during the day.
Mummy2Twins they are so cute!
Mumsiemel, thanks for the tips. Everything is elevated except the changetable, which is now. Then you got me thinking the only other lay flat time is feeding so I am elevating him slightly while feeding now which has also helped so much with the spewiness too. Thanks again

Hello May Mummies!
I chatted breifly in the 'due in' sec but found it hard to keep up!
For those who dont know im Mel and DS2 (Jake) was born on May 13th :cloud9: He is a great baby so far and rarely cries and feeds every 4 - 5 hours however last night he stretched it out 6 hours so that was absolute bliss! Unfortunately im un able to breast feed as Jake was refusing to latch on to me. I really think he didnt like it as he stopped latching on as soon as my milk came thru. I was pretty disappointed but DS1 was FF from 2 weeks old (for a whole another set of reasons) and he thrived so I know that its not the end of the world.
DS1 (Seth) is having a lil jealousy towards Jake but seems to be getting better and most of the time ignores him which doesnt actually bother me. DP has been able to take time off work for a month so he has pretty much been looking after Seth and I have been looking after Jake. I dont know what I would do without him as im not allowed to lift Seth coz I had a c/s.
Anyways will stop :ecomcity: and hope to hear about all the new bundles of joy! :goodvibes:
Hey girls!!!
Congrats Fertile Mertile on your little man's arrival! May 13th babies ROCK!! haha
Oh and I apologise for the constant chatter in the Due in thread... I'd say that majority of it was my fault. Luckily I am occupied more often now... hehe.
Well things are just going fantastically here. Allira is still a champion feeder and sleeper. Not used to this at all...DS was horrid.
Allira only woke once between 10pm and 8am for a feed last night! I couldn't beleive it! DS is still sleeping just as well as normal... 12 hours + per night. We are feeling quite rested here... it's great.
Allira's cord fell off this morning, and her belly button hasn't quite healed over. I called my MCHN, DS' MCHN, the MCHN hotline (which is continually engaged), My GP was out today, DH's GP was not on today, so I went to the chemist to see if I should put a dressing over it, as I was worried about infection and thought I could see organs!!
The pharmacist on called the hospital, who told me to head up adn see the middies. Anyway, they had a look and apparently it's not uncommon for this to happen, but it's not that common either. I think they called it a 'granuloma' or something along those lines. Apparently her Belly button should close on it's own, but my MCHN may try and fuse it shut with some silver nitrate. Sounds a bit scary, but I'd prefer that then letting any germs get in there. Allira isn't fussed by it at all, adn it doesn't look sore or infected at this point, but MCHN is making her first home visit tomorrow, so will see how we go.
Her eyes are getting much better now. Not so much gunk, so will continue to squirt them with my magical boobie juice. hehe.
We went to playgroup today, and DH, DS, DD and I went into town afterwards. Was so good to get out. We also went to small nearby town for a few groceries and a walk around yesterday. Allira loves her sling and the pram is fantastic!
I'm really keen on seeing how much weight Allira has hopefully put on tomorrow. I hope she's at least back to birth weight, but the way she feeds (and her nappies) make me think she might be a bit over it. That would be awesome.
Anyway, enough babble from me. Catch you girls soon.
Sweet dreams mumma's and Bubba's.

Lauren & Mel, thank you.
We had a good day today, eveyone of off CPAP & breathing on their own. I had my first tripple cuddle & i am sure there are many more to come. Daddy had to go to work so he gets his tomorrow morning.
I never thought id love being a Mum so much. Its awesome.
OH that's fantastic that your bubs are all off CPAP and breathing on their own! Wow! And a big YAY for cuddles! that would have been fantastic!
Morning girls!
Tripletime thats fantastic news, what an amazing feeling that would be.
Herchy that does sound scary but like you said you don't want any gunk to get in there. Let us know how it goes.
Hey Fertilemertile and congrats again on your little boy!!! I saw you nursery pics the other day, I have the same kidsline construction theme for Zane, but I have to ask what colour and brand you painted his room as I just love it and am likely to copy :o
OK, I am going to have a massive sook so here goes...... I suck at breastfeeding this time, well suck is prolly the worst word, because sucking is our problem. I can't keep Zane attached, he pulls off over and over and over again. My flow is just so fast he is gagging and after 5 weeks its just not getting any better. To make matters worse after screaming all day yesterday I caved and gave him formula which he guzzled 100ml so quickly and slept for record time. I don't know what to do. And to make matters worse I have to have an op in a few weeks time and stay on drugs after for a couple of weeks which no one can tell me if I will be able to breastfeed whilst on them. GRrrrrrrrrrr
Rant over
Hope you are all having a good day
Aww Kyky, I had the same thing with DS. It was horrible. Do you express before you feed at all? Taking the top of might just help. From memory, it was my foremilk that was ridiculously fast and once I got a fair amount of that off, the hindmilk was slower and DS attached better.

Welcome and congrats!!!
Well yesturday poor Landen had some interupted afternoon naps so when he had a feed at 430pm and a bath i knew he would sleep for a while, he went to bed at 5ish and didnt wake for a feed till 1am!!!
He has a habit now of having one or two long naps a day, usually about 5-6hrs, but last night i think he was making up for 2 interupted naps! LOL
I still have a damn cold, i caught one on the only night i stayed in hosp cause it was freezing in there over night!
Hope your all having a goood day, im staying home today out of this cold weather! :rain:

Hey Girls!
Hercy - Yes may 13th babies do rock! Eeek the cord falling is so gross i reckon! I hope the silver nitrate manages to fix it. I had my CHN visit this morning and she lifted Jakes up and its all gooey. So gross :barf: So Allira is another with gunky eyes. Jake has that too but seems to be getting much better! I have been wiping them with a cotton ball drenched in saline. Glad you managed to get out the other day. Feels so good to get out once being in the house for a while.
TT - Congratz on the arrival of your triplets! Such fantastic news that they are breathing on their own already. So amazing considering they were so early. Little fighters you have there! So sweet that you had your first triple cuddle. Would have been such a special moment :cloud9:
Kyky - I LOVE the constuction zone theme. Too bad Kidsline have discontinued it tho! I wanted to get a few bits and pieces to match and they were sold out doh! The paint we used was brittish paints and the colour is called Joy flight. Its a lil brighter than I expected but I think it works really well! Sorry to hear your havin probs with the BF. Have you tried talking to a lactation consultant? Sounds like Zane may be a lil lazy :p Jake was doing the same except I didnt have a huge supply. Typical men! They dont want to work for their food!
MM - Sorry to hear you have a cold. Hopefully you make a speedy recovery. So good how Landen has started to get himself into a lil routine. What a lil champ!
AFM - Had a lil scare with Jake last night. We were over a friends house and they got out their bunny for Seth to play with. Anyways when we got home I was feeding Jake and noticed he had lil bumps on his forhead and his eyes swelled up and he had red blotches on his face :( We think he may have had an allergic reaction to the bunny. So we bathed him and changed his and our clothes and it started to go down pretty quickly. Of course I over reacted and wanted to rush him to the hospy but glad DP was here to calm me down lol We stayed up for awhile so we could keep a close eye on him and he ended up sleeping from 11 - 6! I was so happy to get a decent sleep. My CHN visited today and Jake is pretty much back to his birth weight now. Only 10 grams off! Think he is gonna be a boofa lil his big bro lol Anyways enough from me Hope everyone is having a nice day :sunshine:
 everyone
FertileMertile, thanks for the paint info. OMG I would have been freakin too. So glad everything is ok.
Herchy, hows Alliras cord today?
Mumsie sounds like Landen is settling in so well. Jealous of the long sleep!
And thanks for the encouragement gals :hugs: was what i really needed.
Ok so I had tried all the text book things to slow my flow down which are blardy awkward when you have hugemungous boobs and nothing was working so I gave him a few top ups of formula to stop him being so distressed and now back to breast and I think my milk and flow have settled down a bit as he just latched and fed beautifully :smiliedance:. I fed DD for 13 months so it would have been a little sad for me if this wasn't going to settle down. So frustrating I haved cried so much the last few days which sooo isn't me so maybe I had some late baby blues or something? anyhoo, all good now :D
My SIL is coming to stay tonight so we can have girly chats and eat crap so I am looking forward to that
Hope you all have a good weekend :flowerz:
Hey girls!
How are we all?
Allira's belly button has closed slightly. It wasn't organs I could see thankfully. LOL. The MCHN has said that it could continue to open and close over coming weeks and we'll need our GP to have a squizz. I don't think she had the silver nitrate for it. Anyway, I've got to take Allira to the GP next week for her final abby check, as we left hospital before she was 3 days old, so will get him to have a look while we are there, although I don't think he deals with babies very often at all.... we'll see what happens.
Fertile - Yep, Allira is another gunky eye girl. I've been wiping with saline drenched cotton wool balls and then squirting with breastmilk and they have nearly completely cleared up which is great. One less thing to contend with.
We went for another trip yesterday. Drove 2 hours to the SIL's place for a day visit and then home again last night. Figure we may aswell get out while DH is home and Allira is so good. It will be much harder when she's older.
DS is teething... 2 year old molars :( He's also got a cold, and because of his obsession with smooching his sister, it's inevitable that she will get it. She's got a stuffy nose so I am sucking that out with that nose thing from the chemist (I just can't think of the name of it ATM), adn then squirting more breastmilk in there. Hoping that the B< gets to it before it gets too bad.
Other than that... all is good. DD is alseep. DH is asleep and DS is harrassing me as I type. LOL
Have a great day all.

Hi all
sounds like everyone is doing well
We are going great Lucas sleeps all day only waking every 3-4 hours for a feed and then he usually sleeps from 10:30pm until 5:30am but last night was 9:30pm till 5:30am so that was great
he seems like he may be getting colic so we have given him infants friend and it works great
Herchy - Lucas had gunky eyes and they hav only just cleared up, he is 2 weeks and 2 days old, he still gets a lil bit of gunk in them but not as much. We used breast milk most of the time but used saline once to clear up his eyes
Take care everyone
xo
Thanks EM! Allira's are nearly all cleared... only having to clean them once or twice a day and it's not much.
Everything's going well. Allira had a funny night last night, and ended up in our bed, Cheeky bubba. Same as her Brother, but she's still sleeping beautifully 99% of the time.
I'm not great.... I've got a killer sore throat and I'm so worried about passing it onto Allira, but I'm hoping that she gets all the antibodies I am producing through my milk to help her avoid it.
DS is still madly in love.... except last night he took to his sister with a spoon!!1 He only lightly tapped her once before I got it off him. DH had left it within reach.... bl))dy milo. LOL
He can't stop kissing and hugging her. It's very cute most of the time, but sometimes slightly annoying too. Poor little girl can only rarely sit in her bouncer with being accosted by her brother. I think he'll be very protective of her.
Other than that... all's still going really well. Hubs last day at home is Wednesday and we have some appointments then. I am a bit nervous about Being on my own on Thursday, but am glad I only have 2 days on my own then the weekend.
We've been getting out as much as we can whilst Hubs has been home and Allira is so easy going. I'm sure in even a few weeks it will be much harder. Allira seems to love the car.
TT - everything sounds like it's going from strength to strength! That's fantastic news!
MM - I've been waiting for people to reply... I'm always around at the moment. Be a different story I think once hubs goes back to work.
I hope evreyone else is giong well!!
We sent Allira's birth certificate off On Saturday and will put the centelink forms in this Weds. I hope it all goes through nice and quickly like it did last time.
Have a great night everyone!

Hey ladies  Ive finally found the time to come on here and say hi. My lil girl Trinity was born on the 19th May so today she is 1 week old already, time is just flying by..feels like all the days are rolling into one I reckon. I have my first maternal health nurse visit this afternoon and hopefully my lil bub has put on some weight, will be shocked if she hasnt because shes feeding so much. I am struggling with the breast feeding a bit, shes feeding for 1-2 hours most days and falls asleep at the breast. Ive been giving her formula as a top up too due to midwives advice, she gobbles down her formula and makes me wonder if it would be easier on both of us if shes just bottle fed. I feel like shes not getting enough from me :( In general shes a great baby, sleeps alot and mainly wakes when shes hungry. I also got told to wake her for feeds every 3 hours but I stopped doing that as of yesterday because she does wake when shes hungry and I got sick of having to use cold flannels on her..just didnt feel right. Sleep dep has been a bit of a struggle but Im guessing its all a part of the journey of having a newborn :)
Hi everyone! How are we all?
My entire household has a cold.. including Allira. Poor little thing. She's still sleeping and feeding as well as normal which is good, but her breathing is noisy and she gets a blocked nose at times.... I just went to the chemist and grabbed some saline drops for her nose so we'll see how that goes. Her eyes are much better... still not 100% but at least 90% better than last week. WIll continue with my boobie milk into them.
Sorry to hear a few of you are having BFing issues. Alot of people seem to be comp feeding, is this because bubs haven't put on weight? I find it so odd that so many people are being told to comp feed. My best advice is to keep bubs at the boob as much as possible, as the more bubs sucks at your boob, the more milkyou will produce. I comp fed with DS, and I was one of the rare ones who was able to drop it after a few weeks and go back to just breastfeeding, but that is rare.
I really hope that you all get some good help soon. I would def be calling the ABA if you are keen on BFing. They will know more than probably most midwives.
All the best.
Not alot happening here. GP appt tomorrow for Allira (for her final baby check) adn then she has an ultrasound appt aswell to double check her kidney's. Other than that, tomorrow is DH's last day off... and I'm nervous about him going back to work, but hopefully we are ok.
Anyway, hope you are all well and not getting these colds that are flying around.
Take care.

Spoke too soon, now Talai has it
X and C are on antibiotics
Will see if Talai needs to go the doc, she only came down with it over night!
I really lacking in sleep between all these sick kids, But Landen is sleeping great! :yelclap:

i hear you on the sickness! it sucks
You'll be fine when DH goes back to work, have faith in yourself :D
oh and i completely agree with what you said about comp feeding, it doesnt make any sense, bubs needs to suckle to increase supply.

Welcome hun!
Ring the ABA if you really want to persue bf, m/w sometimes have no idea :hugs:

Yay! Hope they are all together again soon!

Lucas sounds great!
Hi girls!
I hope you are all keeping well. I have been knocked down big time with this cold/flu.
I'm not faring as well as Hubby and DS. Lost my voice last night so that will be handy given that today is my first day on my own with the 2 kids.
Anyway, you push on hey.
Allira is still stuffy, but we grabbed a vaporiser yesterday and it seemed ot work well. She's co sleeping with us while she's so sick. Our appt's went really well yesterday, and we find out the results of her kidney scan next Weds... but from what I could see, all was good. I mean, she has 2 kidneys and they measure about the same size from what I could gather. LOL
Other than that, we are doing well. Allira had a HUGE projectile vomit at 4am yesterday and scared the daylights out of me. DS has NEVER had anything like that. This whole 'swine' flu thing keeps popping to the front of my head. She's only stuffy, (although there's no way of knowing if she is achey, has a headache etc) but she's got no temp that I can tell. She's still feeding just as often and sleeping as well as ever, which is a releif.
DS has a cough, but he's well other than that. Here's hoping we are at the end of the illness in this house. I'd love to have a nice healthy family and how sucky is it that a 2 week old gets sick. That's pretty unfair I reckon.
Anyway, just popping in to see how we all are. Busy it seems:)
Take care, keep warm and look after yourselves!

Landen seems to be a bit hot, but im not sure.
Hoping its over with by munday Mr X stayed home from school today, because he's sick and i didnt feel like going anywhere today! :(
Ah MM that sounds shocking. My sore throat is nearly gone, I just have a cough really now. Quite a chesty cough, but I have to just deal with it I spose. I hope that you all get better soon! My DS is on the mend, and Allira seems a bit better, but she's only got the blocked nose.
I say, squirts of BM all round!!! hehe
We went to MCHN for 2 week appt yesterday, and despite being sick, Allira packed on 480gms in 7 days! Nurse was quite impressed by that and so was I. I was worried she might not have gained much if at all. She's now nearly half a kilo over her birth weight. Still smaller than DS was at birth, but not by much.
Other than that... same old here. I have a FULL day at home with the kids on my own today. We survived yesterday although we spent a few hours at the IL's in the arvo, so today is my real test.
And off the baby front, We sold my car, so Hubs is looking at going for a drive on Sunday to look at one he wants to buy me. I don't really care what it is, as long as it fits the kids and the pram, but he's going to go all out I just know it. LOL
Have a great day all and to thsoe who are sick, sending lots of get well soon vibes.
xxoo
ooo very quiet in here. I hope that means everyone is off in sleepy land!! hehe

No not me :) How is everyone? Hope you all are feeling a bit brighter today.
Well went to the doctors yesterday, was in a bit of a tizz because we hadnt found a gp down here yet. Found an amazing doctor who happend to specialise in paediatrics yay! Found out I have a nasty case of mastitis, explains why breast feeding has been hard the last 3days or so..Bubs is now bottlefeeding due to lack of milk supply, was pretty shattered about it but it seems to be working out really well now. Shes had a sticky eye since birth and got some drops for her eye because it started to get really nasty again. Trinity had her first outing yesterday in the big wide world with myself and my mum :) Was really good to get out of the house.Went out for lunch and got myself a new outfit, was sick of pulling up my maternity pants every single step hehe..
Well I hope everyone is having a good weekend and getting some rest.

Sorry about the bf, hope the mastitis clears up soon, how are you treating it??
I thought the best treatment was to bf thru it?

Great news on Allira's weight gain!!!! :yelclap:
AFM
i spent all of yesturday in my pjs on the lounge,
Miss T was bad yesterday, she got up at 8am, wanted a nap at 1030am and then again at 2pm. Then at 530pm she wanted to go to bed.
but on the up side she is alot better today and just has a runny nose,
Mr X is heaps better, barely even a cough.
But miss C still has a cough and bit of a runny nose.
I am feeling a lot better than yesterday, my nose is driving me insane, but the fevers and cough seem to have disappeared! :yelclap:
Meanwhile Landen has settled in to a great routine, he has 6-7 feeds a day, during the day they are 3-4 hrs apart, till his last one at around 6-7pm then he goes down for a huge 6-7hr nap! Wakes some time after midnight.
So thats my best time for a good sleep
Hope your all having a good weekend.
What is everyones plans for the June long weekend??
Well, well, well...so here you all are... I hadn't realised you had all run away and started a new thread elsewhere! Were you trying to hide from me? Lol! :)
It's so fabulous to hear how everyone is going. Just took me ages to read through all the posts. But really enjoyed catching up on everyone's news. It sounds like most of you are going great guns with your new bubs. Even while suffering colds and bugs!
Kian has a cold as well and has shared it with me, although neither of us are 'suffering' particularly. He's very snuffly but doesn't seem to be in any discomfort with it.
Greeneyes - the advice you were given sounds pretty much identical to what I was told because Kian wouldn't put on weight. He's now a very healthy weight and a very happy and contented boy.
But we've pretty much finished with BF. I'm only managing to express about a bottle a day now but that's all there is really. He's on formula the rest of the time now. And I'm fine with that. Much saner and happier if truth be told. Just couldn't get along with the BF thing. He wasn't feeding properly and was never satisfied. It was uncomfortable and he had a horrible habit of grinding on my nipple which bl**dy hurt! But considering I never intended BF in the first place I'm actually quite pleased we managed as much as we did. A happy mummy and a happy bub. It's all I can ask. And it means daddy can help me out more too!
Kian generally feeds, burps, has a little cuddle then sleeps for 3/4 hours. He is pretty good and we've really only had one or two unsettled moments. He has a feed about 11.30/12pm (which his daddy gives him), then again at 3/4 am and then 7ish. So I'm getting some great sleep. I usually manage a sleep during the day too.
Mind you his daddy is being a bit bossy about my sleep because I'm still not feeling 100% and recovery is slow. Things 'down there' don't feel like they're 'quite right'. It's kind of hard to explain. I'm actually looking forward to the 6 weeks Gaenocology appt which is just plain weird! I have been out and about with hubby and bubby but I tire way too easily. But I'm sure it'll all be brilliant in a few weeks.
Hubby goes back to work on Tuesday and I am dreading it. Mostly because I am not allowed to drive so will be stuck at home most of the time going nuts. But my folks have promised they'll come over and take me out and about if I want. I guess I could catch a bus as well which would make me more independent. Oh hurry up 6 week mark!!! Halfway there.
Anyway, other than my moaning... I am loving being a mum. I am so smitten with my little man and he is so gorgeous! Sometimes I can't stand him being asleep being I want so desperately to wake him up and cuddle him. I don't though! I'd get told off! Lol!
I can here noises of bub stirring now so he'll be wanting more food... gotta go!

Hi Ladies,
I finally found where you had all gone.
Jensen is 4 weeks old today and doing ok. I started off breastfeeding but that wasnt enough for him so then tried breast and bottle which still wasnt enough so now we are just bottle feeding him and he seems more settled. He still wakes every 2 hrs for a feed and some nights he cries for hrs so im very tired. This has been our first week at home on our own as the first week we had my MIL here and the second and third week we had to stay 24/7 at westmead hospital for a family session as my eldest son has ADHD. This was very stressful having a two week old baby and not being able to get into a proper routine. So hopefully now that we are home he will settle into a better pattern soon. Despite all this i still love him to death and am enjoying being a mummy of four.:)
Ive been loving reading all the stories about how everyone eslse is doing. Hope you all have a good weekend.

MumsieMel: For my mastitisI am expressing a little in the shower to relieve a bit of engorgement and having 2x500mg antibiotics twice a day.
Ushas: Our baby girl is much more contented since being bottlefed too, and she sleeps longer too which means Im slowly getting more sleep at nights now. Its a massive help having dh help with the feeds hey :)

Went shopping for new clothes this morning before our daily trip to NICU, felt so good.

Hi all!
Just found this thread so thought I would pop on over and see how everyone was doing with their little ones!! FIVE pages later...excuse me for lack of personals, but I am still trying to catch up... ;)
We have had the chicken pox running through our family...My DD1 came out with the rash the day after I delivered and just came home out of quarantine a week or so after we came home and then on Friday, my DS and DP came out with the rash so I have sent them both off to live with my Mum in quarantine until their rashes clear up.
So now it's just us three girls here in this quiet house. I love the boys, but its actually been a nice bonding time for my DD1, DD2 and I, AND when I clean the house...it STAYS clean ;)
My dearest baby River is just beautiful. She's quiet (mostly), except when it's bath time. No regular sleep patterns yet...we are still demand BF and so times between feeds can range between 2 hours and 4 hours, which can be a little tiring, but this too shall pass all too quickly and I am just loving that I have her.
Hope you all have a fabulous weekend!!!
 everyone, thought i'd pop in & say hello to my May buddies. Hope your all well. I'm a bit sad that i'm not a May mummy after all.
DD & i are both ding well, we have our 6 week checkups next week. That' feels like it's snuck up on me.
MJ ~ That's no good about the chickenpox. I had them as a kid & they are horrid.
Mel ~ Ouchie to the mastitis, hope it goes away fast now you got antibiotics for it.
naeandjj ~ Sounds like you been having a bit of a hard time. Hopefully it'll all settle down for you now.
Ushas ~ The main thing is that your DS is getting what he needs & you're both happier for it.
Herchy ~ 480gms is very impressive. At least you know she has a good appetite.

Hi all i havent had a chance to get on to see how you all are but sounds like everyone isn't doing to bad.
I wont do personals as there'll be to much to write but i hope you are all staying warm and keeping well. I'll try to get on more and stay caught up
Take care
Ok we have had the worst day! K has been a right royal PITA!
He hasn't really slept since 8 o'clock this morning. Dozed on and off but spent most of the time crying or screaming!
He just would not settle. He wanted feeding every couple of hours! Got himself so hot and bothered! We ended up just leaving him in his vest and nappy cause he was so sweaty. Was wondering if maybe it was actually a fever breaking through cause he's had a cold.
Finally made him a nice, warm bottle. Gave him a cool bath halfway through. Then a massage with some Tinderbox Baby Massage Oil, The rest of his bottle and (touch wood) he's been asleep for an hour and a half! Long may it last. Seriously the little amount of sleep he's had - he should sleep through till tomorrow!! Wishful thinking I think though!
We've had no real problems with him till today! Trust him to start playing up just as dad is due to head back to work this week! Hoping it was just a HUGE blip though. Here's hoping (in an odd way) he just wasn't feeling very well or something...

Ushas - we had EXACTLY the same thing yesterday. He was awake from 9am till 5pm and whinging/feeding the whole time. Slept well last night though. He is going through the 6 week growth spurt I suspect - so it will last a few days. From memory he also had one at 3 weeks - so maybe thats what your baby is going through?
Hi Ladies
I'm from the due in July thread, but my DS decided to put in an early appearance, so I hope you don't mind me joining in.
He's still in hospital, but has just come out of NICU into Special care which is fantastic.
I got to try my 1st breast feed last night, but he has no idea. He hasn't got the sucking happening, more just licking at the moment, and my milk flows so fast, so he kept choking. He'll be there for a while longer, so we'll just keep perservering each day.
I've noticed so many of you went with David for the middle name, so did we, that's DP's name.
Hope you all have a good day & look forward to chatting with you. :flowerz:
Hi all,
Wow, it's just taken me about an hour to skim read through the thread. It's great to hear that everyone seems to be going so well (on the whole).
I will have to get onto personals later.
AFM. My beautiful daughter Beatrix is now 9 days old and so far has been a dream baby! She feeds well, sleeps well and is a contented little soul, I really couldn't ask for more. I'm finding it all so much easier this time around than the first time (so for those struggling and thinking "never again", it can be easier 2nd time around). I'm getting much more sleep and the feeding is sooooo much better!
I have finally managed to write up my (rather long) birth story. I was lucky enough to have a wonderful waterbirth. Here's the link:
http://www.bubhub.com.au/community/forums/showthread.php?p=3770330#post3770330
Anyway, I'll be back soon to catch up on everyone's progress.

Ah thanks Heidi! I did wonder actually if that was somethin to consider! He's being his usual angelic little self today. Slept from 8pm till 1, then woke again at 5am then 8.30. He's very happily asleep still now so yey!:yelclap:

Hi all, settlin in now and thought I'd get online. I was wondering if anyone else is having trouble with the 5pm 'witching hour'?? Every evening for a week LUcinda has cried uncontrolably and for no particular reason..Its almost like she has to do it to release energy or something..?? It lasts for about 2 hours and then we eventually get her to sleep. Its obvious that she's over tired and not hungry. Seriously considering getting her a dummy!
Im getting my first cute smiles:)

Hi all,
Welcome to all the Lovely May Mums joining!!! Congratualtions on the birth of your beautiful babies!!!
Lozie2 - I had grazed nipples for about a week and a half...they have just gotten better but I remember how it felt to feed on those tender bits!!! I can remember describing it to my DP as like someone slashing your nipples with a knife and then chewing on them for a good half hour!!! Like MM says though, it DOES get better, perserverence is the key! I also used Anhydrous lanolin which is basically wool fat. I think you an also get a product called Lanisoh which is basically the same thing. Remember to make sure your nipples dry out after every feed as well. Your express rate is REALLY good though so it sounds like you are doing really well!
Mumsiemel - 800gms in 2 weeks is impressive!!! :) You must have a very happy and healthy little boy there!!
Julie439 - witching hour is the pits...although it hasn't affected this bub so much, I remember it very well from my DS. He would also cry uncontrollably and we couldn't soothe him no matter what. I would end up walking him around and around the house, reading him my Uni textbooks. I wonder what it is about that particular time of day that make them react so? Good luck with it!!! And aren't those first smiles just the loveliest thing? :)
AFM, I'm finding being a single parent while my DP is in quarantine (for having chicken pox) a little difficult at this point. It was nice at first to have the whole bed to myself, but this novelty quickly wore off the first night when I had to do all the getting up and soothing at night by myself as well (I'm very fond of sleep!!) and P.S. the TV at 2am is pretty crap. My DP and DS are looking like they should be ok to come home again around Thursday, which will be so nice. It's been VERY quiet without my son's constant chatter and I miss it. My Miss River is doing well, although she still likes to party at night and sleep most of the day. I'm trying to keep her up a bit more during the day in the vain hope it might make her want to sleep more at night.
I hope you all have a lovely day and get some quality naps in
Wow everyone is heading in now!!! SO exciting!!!!
Welcome!!
How is everyone going?
We're all almost better now. I'm ALOT better today than I have been in over a week and I was the worst. Allira still has a stuffy nose, but it's getting better.
Just awaiting her birth cert now. Can't wait to get it. Centrelink and Medicare were really quick, and I've already got my first BB installment and my Medicare card has been posted.
I know my card has been posted because Medicare called me today. Our surname is a common boys name and some nutter has put Allira's last name as her first, making her a boy... LOL and her first name as her last. Someone rang to let me know that the first card I get will be dodgy, and that they are sending another one.
Another reason to get stuck into DH.... because he has a dodgy last name! LMAO. I see this being a common occurance for the rest of our lives.
Other than that, all is going as well as usual. Allira slept for 6.5 hours last night between feeds which was a godsend as DS woke at 6.30 which is VERY unusual for him. Hopefully he sleeps until 8am like usual tomorrow.
DH has been really busy with work and fixing up my car before someone comes to pick it up tomorrow, (we've sold it) so he hasn't been getting home until aroun 8pm each night and he leaves at 7.30 am each day, so I am feeling a bit like a sinlge mum at times. I have so much admiration for single parents.... I can cope with a few nights like this but I don't think it would be so peachy if this was all the time.
Tomorrow we have a pead appt at the hospital to go over Allira's ultrasound results from last week. I'm sure if there was a problem they would have called us... I'm confident that everything is fine.
Oh adn Friday I have to go into town on my own for the first time with the 2 kids. I live a 200km round trip from town, do the drive won't be fun, and then trying to take care of the 2 kids will be a challenge... On top of that... I have to take DS to get his chicken pox Vax so he wil be ANGRY at the end of that! I am going to keep him in his pram while he gets it done, and DD will be in the pram also, so hopefully that will amke thigns a bit easier. Oh gosh... I hope she doesn't want a feed in the middle of the vax!! EEK!
I think my plan is to feed her just before we go inside even if she isn't quite due for one. Then after all that... we get to pick up Allira's first pro pics! I can't wait to see them!
Anyway, can't wait to get in here more regularly and catch up with everyone Enough rambling from me.
Hi all,
thought I would pop in and say HI, I havent been on all the much since Sofia was born (25.05) but thought I better say Hi :)
Sofia is such a great baby, and my DD just loves her baby sister.
Anyways better keep reading back through some threads in the May section.
Hi all,
Took me a while to find you and read all the posts. DH and I welcomed our gorgeous girl "Isabelle Grace" into the world on the 25th May at 10:42pm after induction. (3040g).
By and large she is great at sleeping for the 3-4hrs and longer sometimes. We only got home on Sunday, stayed at the hospy longer due to feeding issues. Was very glad to get home:).

So this is where everyone has been hiding! Glad I found you again :D
Well quick update... Ned is a shocking feeder, wouldn't put on weight, everyone (family) keeps telling me there's something wrong with him, paedeatrician says otherwise. CHN told me to give him formula top ups to fatten him up. He can't even suck a bottle properly .
Anyway, this week feeding is much better but he is starting to refuse boob. This really upsets me because I love breastfeeding but I guess that's selfish if it's not what he wants. DD and DS are at school/day care today so Ned and I did the food shopping. Noticed a free baby clinic at the shops so went and had Neddy weighed and for a skinny little thing (so unlike my babies) who has only been putting on 20g a week, this week he has put on a whopping 400g and has finally hit birth weight :yelclap: - only took 4 weeks!!
I have huge trouble getting the little monkey to sleep during the day unless he's on me. Yesterday I put him to bed on his stomach and he slept like a log. Mum tells me not to stress about it but I am. Can't bring myself to do it at night though.
Bedtime routine - he's bathed and fed by 6.30pm, put him to bed and he wakes and carries on that much, it usually takes about 5 hours before he actually goes to sleep and stays asleep. Needless to say, we are tired!
Hugs to all xx

muminshock: Thats a great weight gain I bet your relieved!
Herchy:Goodluck for friday, fingers crossed your lil ones will be angels for you hehe...
Hi ladies:wave: How is everyone doing? Hopefully everyone is feeling a bit brighter.
AFM: Today we had our 2 week checkup and since last week Trinity has put on 366g!! and 2cms each on her head circumference and length :) Shes such a good baby, only really cries when she wants a feed or has a dirty nappy. Im getting about 6 hours interrupted sleep but cant complain really I guess..
 everyone, thought I'd pop in and say hello and good to hear you are all doing well.
Herchy, Hope Allira's appointments all good, like you said you would think they would ring if there was something wrong. Good to hear you are feeling better. How is you DS going with the new addition? I was wondering cos I know he is the same age as my DD.
greeneyes, great weight gain, glad she's doing so well. I absolutely love the name Trinity BTW
Heidilee, 6 weeks for a birth certificate is nuts! It only took a week for Zane's but I am in WA.
MIS, I soooooo relate to what you are saying about feeding. I had the same problems feeding which was totally unexpected after feeding DD for 13 months. I was already so upset with all the difficulty we were having when he finally just refused boobie and EBM. I was so so sad that he didn't want me at first but then told myself to get over it and now we are both happy with formula. But I still miss breastfeeding tho.
Well we are going good now after all the feeding trouble. I have gotten smiles which just make my heart melt. DD loves her brother so much she would like to smother him or poke his eye out  so have to keep a very very close eye on her. But life is well busy, which is what I expected having 2 under 2.

It sucks huh! Doesn't help that everyone has an opinion and tries very hard to push it on me. Some will say "oh put him on formula, your milk is obviously not enough" (thanks) and others will say "perservere with breastfeeding, he needs it". I am perservering with BF because I love it but I know it won't last much longer. He's real hit and miss. I have tried to feed him breast every time today and only managed to get him on twice. Better than nothing but I can already feel my milk supply shrinking :(. Never mind, I'm just so happy he's finally putting on some weight. He's not looking so much like saggy baggy elephant now :D
Herchy - birth, deaths and marriages are REALLY slow with the birth certs. I posted our application 6 weeks ago and we are still waiting.
We took our application in (hubby works in the same building so took the opportunity to show bub off at work). It took 5 days to arrive, but they sent it to the local post office and it had to be picked up so it didn't get bent.
MIS - It seems to be the theme for all of us - Everyone has an opinion on how we should feed our bubs and are more than willing to tell us what to do - but when it comes down to it, whatever is best for bub AND mum is the way to go. And the only person who is right to judge that is ourselves as mums. Best of luck with little Ned. Yey for his weight Gain!!!

yeah, my new favourite thing to say when people try to tell me what to do is 'mother knows best..!' Which is pretty much saying 'conversation over!!'
HeidiLee, where abouts are you? cos we took our application into the BDM office in Fyshwick, Canberra (i had him at John James) and it only took a week til it was at my post office to be picked up and im an hr from Canberra
 everyone else! hope ur all having a lovely day!

Oh I am so gonna steal that line! Some people just have no freakin idea hey. I love love love breastfeeding but when it was distressing my bubba so much I had to put my own feelings aside, and to me thats parenting 101 but some people just don't get it. Luckily now everyone around me has been really supportive....now
Yeah people around me have been pretty good too. But then most people also knew I wasn't planning to BF anyway, so were quite shocked when I decided to try it.
But 'mother knows best' is classic! I think that should be our catch phrase!

I just checked the NSW website and it says 5 weeks for non-urgent normal certs and 11 weeks (yes you read right) for commemorative!!!

Hi ladies... i dont get in here that much... my twins are kepping me extremely busy atm!!
I also ordered the commerative certificate too... i live in SA and i got mine in a week!! Although i got Lucas's first and a couple days later I got Maddison's.
My twins are doing really well. Maddison is now just over 3kg which im so happy about and Lucas is now 2770g which is only 20g off of Maddison's birth weight :-)
Hi girls!
Mummy2twins - yay for the twins weight gains! Fantastic news!
Heidi - I got a commemorative cert too. I know they take a while, but it's cool cos I don't really need it for anything. Still haven't needed DS' for anything yet. LOL
Ahh and I'm in quick reply (cos I'm lazy) so I can't see any other posts.
Will have to get my lazy bum into gear and read back over.
Anyway, We had our appt with the pead yesterday and Allira's kidneys are 100% perfect and she was given a clean bill of health. A huge relief for Hubs, but I knew everything was going to be ok. Call it Mother's intuition ;)
Everything is the same old here. DS is fat too obsessed with his sister for my liking, so she has to stay cooped up in her bassinette in the bedroom while DS is awake. When he is in bed for hi day sleep, she gets to spend a couple of hours out here with me in her bouncer (or my arms hehe), but once the boy awakens... it's back to the dungeon. LOL
I shouldn't complain. He is in no way showing any signs of jealousy, he just wants to hold her ALL the time... especially during the middle of a feed. I try and explain to him that Allira has a power suck that could take my nipples right off if he tries to pull her away, but I'm pretty sure he doesn't care about anything but kissing and smothering his sister(with love ;) ).
I will go back and read about what everyone's been up to and be back.
;)
Herchy - Brilliant news about missy's kidneys! It must be a relief, even though you knew she was fine.
Heidi - I ordered a Commemorative BC. It arrived in 5 days as promised. 11 weeks!! That's a very long time to wait for them print a certificate and post it!
Well we survived our first day on our own, daddy at work and no visitors! Kian was awesome and I even managed a sleep in the afternoon. He's not being quite so well behaved today but he's not being awful either. Going to try a warm bottle, warm bath and massage before his next sleep and see if he'll go down for a bit longer.

Hi,
Well Jensen has started sleeping a bit better now. He is still pretty ratty during the day but he has been waking every three hrs during the night for a feed so I have been able to get some sleep. Ive been giving him Infacol drops for his wind pain and I brought a formula (S26)thats for babys with reflux which seems to be making a difference as its thicker and lines his tummy.
My 3yr old is driving me insane, he has been getting into everything and just being a down right little s**t. Some days I so look forward to my two older boys coming home from school to help me while DH is at work. They are such a great help.
We sent our birth certificate application off as soon as Jensen was born which was nearly five weeks ago and we still havnt recieved anything back. They are so slow, It took them nearly two months to send out our wedding certificate so im not expecting his birth certificate anytime soon.
Its good to hear that you are all starting to settle into your own routines and that bubs are doing well, its such a joy being a mum.
well I had better get going, Jensen only sleeps in 1/2 hr lots during the day:hair: and I still havnt made it into the shower yet!!!!!
Have a good day everyone.

Hi everyone!!
Just got back from my appointment with CYH. Maddison had to have her hearing checked at she only passed one ear when they did it in the hospital so they had to use the other hearing machine that went to her brain and this time both ears passed which im so thrilled about :-) They also weighed them and Maddison is now 3530g (was just over 3kg a week ago) and Lucas has now gone over the 3kg mark... he weighs 3030g (was 2770g a week ago) Im so happy with this!!!
How is everyone else going?
Hey girls!
back again
Mummy2twins- that's fantastic news! Well done! I can't imagine how hard looking after twins would be. You are doing a fantastic job!
naenjj - glad things are on the improve. Your older boys must be such a blessing sometimes. I wish there was someone to take my DS at times.... and Hubs has decided that lately he'll be late home from work every night  The joys of 2 under 2 I spose. hehe
Ushas - yay for surviving day 1!! It's so scary when the other half goes back to work, but at the end of it, you wonder why you were so worried. Well done on getting a day sleep for yourself too!
Well I'm trying to keep Allira out with DS and I as much as possible. The keeping her away for 3 weeks hasn't worked, so I thought maybe if she was out with us all the time, he'd get used to her to the point where he ignores her..... Would be nice if it works.
Not looking forward to tomorrow and my day out with 2 kids on my own....
Just waiting on Hubs to get home.... He's been late every night since being back at work, so he better be home in the next 15 mins tonight or there will be one very unhappy mummy here tonight. lol
Have a good one girls!!
Good luck with getting DS and Allira together. Hopefully this will work. I would think it should. Once the novelty wears off. Perhaps something to distract him as well like a 'special' toy or book?
I don't know how you mum's with other littlies do it! You all deserve medals!

hi everyone, i dont get to post in here all that often as im flat out with Lucas. He is good most of the time but when he's bad he's really bad, he's been having alot of stomach problems, he either vomits, cant poo or has the runs. Poor little thing screams in pain till he's blue in the face.
Ushas - i weighed Lucas last week and he was 5 kilo's already and he measures about 59cm now, he doesnt look like a newborn. How is Kian going?
I've been reading everyones posts and seen that a few of you had trouble with breast feeding. I wanted to breastfeed and Lucas was good at latching on but he was so hungry partly becasue the first 3 days after he was born all he did was sleep and hardly fed and i couldnt keep up with him. I was upset because i liked breast feeding but i had to do what was better for him. I still have milk and the dr said if i put him on every 3 hours my milk supply should build up again. I found his bowels worked better on breast milk and he wasnt vomiting as much.
Well i hope everyone and their bubs are well, will try and get in to post again soon

Hi ladies,
I haven't had a chance to come in here since I got home from hospital. I'll need to catch up. Last night was the first night I got a decent amount of sleep so I'm finally feeling that I have a bit more energy.
William is doing well. He's finally sleeping a little better now and hence, his mummy is as well. He put on 70g when he was last weighed on Wednesday. A midwife is going to visit sometime this morning so hopefully he's put on a little more.

Hi All
Glad to see there is lots of chatter in here...
RE Births Deaths and Marriages i called them and they said the wait time is 8 weeks
Everything is well here, everyone is well and truely on the mend now.
BBL for personals! :hugs:
Hey EM - Kian hasn't been weighed or measured since 2 weeks. He was almost 4kg at that stage so I'm sure he's headed towards the 5kg mark by now.
He's usually awesome and sleeps really well. However, today he has been a PITA. Hasn't slept properly all day, 10-15 mins here and there. I've just managed to get him down and I think he's worn himself out and is there for the duration! (Touch wood)He's wanted a bottle every couple of hours which isn't like him. He usually has a feed every 3-4 hours!
So I'm exhausted and thankful that he's finally sleeping cause I was at my wit's end!
Hi....
I was wondering if I can gate crash this group...
I had my little girl on the 11 May (was due in April)...
I am a mum to five kids starting from 16 and down to 3.5 wks....
I am going to go back and read the thread to get to know you all better....Look forward in Chatty with you all......

welcome jcb- its great to have you in here :-)
How is everyone going?
Hi girls!
Welcome JCB! Can't wait to get to know you. 5 kiddies! YIKES! You must be super mum:)
hi mummy 2 twins. All going well here. how are your little ones?
Ushas I hope you got some well earned rest and that Kian stayed down for a while.
MM - glad to hear everyone is on the mend! Same here. I like having a healhty household!
Well I got my portraits back and I love them. DS takes such good photos and DD is just so cute tiny and squishy looking. hehe
We're off to my parents tomorrow night for a sleep over. hehe. Hubs, Allira and I are going to Melbourne on Monday morning and My mum is going to look after Lachie. He hates long car trips poor kid, so we decided to get him out of it and keep ourselves sane.
Same old otherwise.... Bit boring really.
Hope everyone is having a lovely, warm, restful weekend!
Welcome jcb!
I have the world's most fab hubby (but don't tell him I said so!). I was so exhausted yesterday after Kian's day of being a PITA! He finally managed a couple of hours in the afternoon, and I managed to close my eyes for about an hour.
Then after his next feed I told him his daddy would be home soon and he went to sleep as if he'd been doing that all day. Trying to make a fibber out of me!
But daddy believed me after all and pulled an all-nighter to let me sleep!!

mumsiemel - hello glad to hear everyone is well
Ushas - Doesnt take them long to gain he weight hey. What you just described about Kian being a PITA is exactly how Lucas gets. He wont sleep, cries all day and wants 2 feed every 2 hours. I know what you mean about being exhausted.
That would be right, kids love making liars out of us. Your hubby sounds fantastic, good to hear he is helping you out
jcb - Hello and welcome, looking forward to getting to know you
mummy2twins - Hello how are you going? we are going ok here, havin a few bad times and trying to find a formula that suits Lucas but im sure everything will settle soon.
Herchy - Hello how was your tripto melbourne, i bet its cold down there, im in nsw and its freezing here, bring on spring i say
Hi all,
My little man didn't quite make it for May, he wanted June apparently but I still feel like a May mummy!! Do you mind if I join you guys in here?
Little guy arrived 9 days late (due 27th May) and weighed 2.8kg. He's feeding like a trooper and is doing quite well. Mums still a little sore and recovering but is pretty happy and in love. :cloud9:
Look forward to continuing to chat with you guys now our bubs are here!!
Hi girls!!!
Kimmie of course you are welcome here!!!! So glad to hear things are going well!
Melbourne was FREEZING, but I think it's worse up here!! It's rained the last 8 days up here, and apparently we're going to get another week's worth, which is good for the farmers, but geez, I'm not liking nearly getting bogged coming out of my driveway!
Anyway, hope you've all had a fab long weekend! DS kept hubs and I awake most of last night, but Allira was her perfect self thankfully. So tired, so once the boy is in bed, Hubs and I are off!

so how is everyone today?
Today is my first day on my own with Lucas, Df has gone back to work after 4 weeks off, so far i'm coping well, i got dd up and had her ready for school on time aswell as got the beds made, load of washing on, house tidy (still need to vaccum and clean bathrooms...will do later) had a shower and got myself ready and then got Lucas up and changed and fed him and we were still ready 20mins before having to leave
Thought i'd cope but not that well lol
How is everyones babies going?
I've been having trouble with Lucas, think he may have reflux or colic, he was on karicare formula and was throwing up all the time and come 6pm the screaming would start and go until about 11pm then we changed him to karicare HA-AR formula which stopped him vomiting but then he couldn't get all his wind up and he was still screaming at nite and most of the day aswell so we have put him back to the standard karicare until we see the paediatrician. He may need to have Neocate formula like my dd had, she has food allergies and looks like he may be the same i am also lactose intolerant so guess i just have to wait until he sees the paed which isnt until the 27th of july :hair: he is a really good paed which is why he is so booked
well enough from me, hope everyone and their bubs are well
Have a good day!

Lucy is thriving and i wouldnt be suprised if shes it the 5kg mark!
I was also wondering if any of you would be interestred in setting up a time to meet in live chat..?? if you were we could meet at say 8pm on a particular day or something..

oh no not the needles, we are booked in for Lucas to have his on the 19th and im not looking forward to it, hopefully df will get the day off, he is trying to swap his roster day.
So good to hear Lucy is doing well.
Live chat sounds good although i cant gaurantee i'll always be there, Lucas gets a bit unsettled between 6pm and 11pm although sometimes he quitens down by about 8:30
EM - It sounds like you've done an amazing job! You've got more done than me this morning! I've managed to feed Kian, cuddle Kian, have Kian throw up on me, changed Kian, put Kian to bed, pick Kian up again, put him down again...
Oh yeah and I put some washing in the machine!
And I've watched Come Dine With Me! Lol!
Soon I might get a shower and get dressed and hang out the washing I've finished!
I haven't booked him in for his immunisations yet! I suppose I should go and do that! Not that I want to watch him go through it but... needs must!
Thanks for the welcome girls.....
I am still trying to get through the thread to get to know everyone a little better.....
I just have a quick questions...Does anyone have a windy baby.....My girl is nearly one month but she seems to be windy all the time, I burp her after each BF and she burps but a couple hours later she in unsettled cause she has wind she won't sleep either and I am finding that late/early morning she is very unsettled
.....Can anyone help me....
TIA
Hey all just dropping in really quickly, just had my health nurse visit.... Cassie has put on 520grams in 9 days :D im so happy, the health nurse was great, she got her to attach to my nipple! and stay there!! so im back to the football hold which i was told not to do at the hospital coz its not 'normal'. She is due for a feed soon so ill see if i can get her to attach on my own with no shield, fingers crossed! i cant believe she has put that much weight on in her 1st weeks home! it makes me so happy!!
I can't beleive the hospital told you the football hold isn't normal LoziE!! What a bunch of morons.
I used the football hold for DS and am doing the same for DD. It's much easier for both of us due to the position of my nipple... haha a little TMI.
So glad that you and Cassie are going so well!!
Hi everyone! Just jumping on quickly. Allira and I are going out to a tupperware party tonight and the boys are staying home. LOL Not suh a big deal for most people, but because of where I live, it's a 2 hour round trip. The joys of living in the sticks.
Allira is 4 weeks old tomorrow and a month old on Saturday... I cannot believe how fast that has gone!!
oh and we pick up our new car this weekend! So exciting!
Wow ozie! That's fantastic. And Yah boo! to the idiot who said the football hold isn't 'normal'. Any way that is comfy for you and bub to feed is normal. Stupid woman!
Have fun at your tupperware party Herchy!

hey all
:smiliedance:Nethaniel is now stretching feeds out till 5 hours which is awesome. Last night he ate at 830 then slept till 1am...After a quick top up he was down till 6am... I am looking forward though to the day he gives up a night bottle and graduates from the bassinet beside the bed to his own cot in his own room
I am fighting my desire to not breastfeed even though my son is vomiting his feeds up (awesome being soaked in them huh) and has a problem with bad colic......all the reading i have done this is personal preference and not an attack on anyone else who chooses to use reflux formula) says the reflux formula will only mask the prob so we will keep feeding the old fashioned way until :fingerscrossed: 6 mths old.... Maybe Ill learn not to roll over at night and soak the bed with my overflow.....
I just hate having huge boobs and feeling and thinking i smell like a huge cow..... and the tingling....do you guys get that when bub isn't feeding? Does anyone else's bub drink that fast they are gulping? Nethaniel is a greedy little urchin who doesn't want to stop in case mummy takes his lunch away:laughing: and thus he is choking on at least half of the feeds... scary stuff let me tell you....
However apart from these little issues he is a gorgeous honey...... and man the kids cant get enough.......

So here you all are!
Havent had much time to get on the internet but had a little read through yesterday to try to catch up with you all.
Aiden is doing quite well. Was breast feeding but it didnt work out so now bottle feeding which is going well.
DS1 loves him and keeps kissing him which is really sweet!
Aiden goes to bed bout 7, sleeps till about 11.30/12 for a feed then about 3.30/4 then wakes between 6.30 and 7.30.
The only problem is getting him back to sleep afterwards, just seems to take awhile.
What does everyone else do to settle after a night feed?
Hey Jd's Mummy - Kian has pretty much the same feed pattern as Aiden. Hubby does the 11.30/12 feed and I do the 3.30/4 feed and get up in the morning.
At the 3.30/4am feed we have no interaction at all really. I pick him up, don't switch on any lights. I make sure his bottle is nice and warm too, this seems to help it go down faster and keep him sleepy. I don't talk to him or make any noises at all. We sit in the dark and he has his bottle. I burp him and only change his nappy if it obviously needs a change. I change him immediately he gets up then feed him afterwards. Then it's a short rock back to sleep and straight back to bed and tucked in.
This works for us. It's usually no longer than a half hour turn around for us in the middle of the night.
HeidiLee

Jdsmummy - Our little man settles straight after his night feeds which is fantastic. I get up and put his bottle on, change him in a dim room and then feed him in a dim room. Burp him, wrap him and put him back in bed. I dont really talk to him either. I was told the most important thing is to do it within 40 mins as babies have a 40 min window and if you dont make that it will be another 40 mins before they go to sleep.

Hi everyone... havent had time to read everyones post as of yet but will do that very soon!! I hope everyone is going ok!!
I dont have much time to come on here during the day as my little ones have decided they like to be awake most of the day which is good for their night time sleep!! The past two weeks they have both been having 150ML at 9PM and most nights been sleeping through til 5AM which im loving! Not expecting it to stay this way so going to bed straight after i feed them at 9PM so get sleep!! Right now both are in bouncers watching the colours on the tv... they absolutly love that!!
How is everyone going?

Well i'm glad i done what i done when i did because after i got back from taking Dd to school that was my day stuffed up, Lucas wouldnt settle all he did was cry unless i was holding him i got more stuff done in the 2 hours after df got home then i got done all day as soon as df got home i handed Lucas over and went to do the housework.... what a day and today isnt much better, lucas hasnt really settled since he woke up this morning, so all ive managed to do is make 2 beds hav a shower and take dd to school, all while Lucas was crying cant wait to take him to the dr
your days sounds very much like mine lol,

jcb - i have a very windy baby, he was good at first but now he will burp and like your bub a couple of hours later is unsettled because he has more wind, he is formula fed though i bf for the first week and still probly once a day give him a bf but he is mostly on formula we have tried 4 different types now and can't find anything that he is settled on so a trip to the dr is in need as he may need a special formula like my dd had 2 have.
With your bub as you are bf have you made sure you havent had anything like coffee, cabbage, onion, gassy drinks like coke etc and i think broccolli and cauliflower can upset them, do a google search "what not to eat when breast feeding" see what you come up with. Some things you eat or drink can cause them to be unsettled and have wind.
lozie2 - congrats with bubs weight gain, thats excellent. Thats ridiculous as if the football hold isnt normal, i agree with ushas anyway that is comfy for you and bub is best
Herchy - way to go getting out of the house with just bub, girls only outings have started already lol, hope you had fun.
EM - That'd be brilliant if we could! I can tell you that I'm going to have a day like that already! He's already refusing to sleep and after spending ages getting him to sleep and putting him in bed he's already making noises about getting up again.
I wouldn't mind so much if he'd sit in his bouncer or lie on his playmat for a bit while I do things but he won't settle there. Always wants to be held and cuddled.
I guess I'd better have a quick shower before he wakes up completely!

Hi all!
It's nice to see so many of us in here chatting away! I'm about to go back and catch up on it all so I can do some personals while my dear Miss River is napping for 5 minutes!
I read this and I thought it was ME talking!! Except the huge boobs bit...I'm not small but although at times I feel like they LOOK like small planets at the moment, I know they are pretty average size. I thought it was just me with the tingling, but I get it quite a bit when the Miss isn't feeding. And they are so super sensitive right now, that I have told my DP that if he dares to touch them, I will be forced to do him some bodily harm! ;) Also Miss R does the gulping thing as well! It's like by the time she gets to a feed (and they are only 2-4hours apart) she's so starving hungry she has to have it NOW! She's such a noisy feeder! I have taken to tucking in a clean cloth nappy into my shirt like a bib as well so that if she takes a pause in her feeding and pulls off, we both don't get soaked in the process.
That's some great sleeping your bub is doing there jdsmummy!!! Miss River can take a little bit of time to settle after a night feed, although she has been a lot better lately and we are down tofeeding every 4 hours dring the night now!! During the night, we have very dim lighting and try not to interact very much ( this isn't hard as I have a tendency to fall back to sleep while feeding at the 2am feed!!). We also found that changing the nappy in the middle of a feed or before a feed was much better for settling than changing it at the end. If we have to change her nappy at the end of a feed, it's like an instant signal to wake up and her little eyes instantly snap open and we know we'll be awake for another hour.
WOW!!! That's fantastic!!! They sounds like lovely healthy happy babies mummy2twins!!! :)
...so all ive managed to do is make 2 beds hav a shower and take dd to school, all while Lucas was crying cant wait to take him to the dr
You made the beds??? That's an achievement in itself!!! ;) This morning I've managed to walk the kids to school, get changed (no shower yet!) and hop on Bubhub to check out the posts while Miss R is napping in her bouncer as I rock her with one foot :D
Speaking of which...I'm sorry I couldn't get more personals in but Miss R is making those noises that Ushas was just talking about. I think it's time to get out the baby harnass, strap her to me and see if I can get out and hang out the first of too many loads of washing today
Have a lovely day all and I hope those babies settle for you!!!

I hate it when you put them in their bed 5 minutes later they start 2 wake up yet if we were holding them they'd stay asleep. Yeah i wouldnt mind either if lucas would sit or lay quietly somewhere so i could get stuff done, my house needs a good vaccum and i really need 2 clean the bathrooms, i like my house 2 be spotless but it's far from that at the moment as far as im concerned most people would disagree with me about that though lol
I just rang the maternity ward where i had Lucas and they said i need to take him to the paediatrician asap but i told the midwife i cant get him an appointment until the 27th of july so she said take him to the GP and see if she can hurry the paediatrician up. Sounds like he has colic or reflux she said, i told her we have tried karicare standard formula, karicare HA-AR and Karicare soy and she said if none of that has helped then he may need Neocate available only on script and a paed needs 2 write the script grrrrrrrrrrr
Anyway Lucas is sleeping for now, i ended up giving him panadol at around 10 and he went to sleep bout 15mins later, poor bugger is so tired from not getting enough sleep and constantly crying. He probably didnt need panadol but he and i needed a rest and he was screaming in pain. Feel like a bad mum giving it to him though.
Hope your day turns out better then mine

mangrovejane - lol sounds like we are all having fun with our bubs - lil troublemakers they are lol
Hey no bad mums round here EM! You did what needed to be done to give Lucas (and you) some relief. That's the thing, it just becomes a vicious circle where you get more weary and stressed, thus stressing bub and him not able to relax, and then you get more weary etc...
So seriously instead of worrying about your bathrooms etc... go close your eyes for a bit. Reinvigorate yourself and then you can tackle the cleaning when you feel more energetic.

Gosh Ladies,
Sounds like fun all round!
i know that sometimes it can be so hard to get them into routine,
My only sanity saver has been to teach my kids to self settle in their bed.
To date Landen has only ever gone to sleep with me patting him on monday as i was burping him from a feed and he was so exhausted from having broken sleep all day (we went shopping and visiting) that he passed out at 6pm and didnt wake till 2am!!!!
But generaly once i see he's tired signs i wrap him, give him a cuddle and pop him in bed.
If he wakes i try to burp him and then just keep rocking him in his cradle till he goes back to sleep or is due for a feed
Anyway its freezing cold here today, very windy!
Hope your day gets better!!!

I do the same at night. I try to just stick him straight back down after winding him and he is fine for 5 mins then will start crying so I pat his bottom and give him a dummy when he has stopped crying. He is then fine for 5 mins till the dummy fallls out so I do the same again. Sometimes can take quite awhile.
Ds1 always fell back to sleep after a feed so very rarely had to settle him.
Seems that mines not the only one who doesnt want to sleep much in the day and only wants to be held. I have spent ages today, cuddling and rocking and then putting down for a sleep then 5/10 mins later he is crying again!

I am so hearing you! Kian has been awful today. Half an hour sleeps at most! He's so tired he's really cranky and can't sleep!
I've just managed to get him down and I think this may last a little while.:fingerscrossed: It took four attempts though!
ok so this is gonna be hard for me to write, but, i have nipple thrush and have given cassie oral and bum thrush, so i want to give up feeding her, but i dont.
it just seems i wasnt meant to feed, in th1st 12 hours i had badly damaged nipples, then b4 she was 2 weeks ive given her thrush, i feel horrible and useless, i was up til 4am with her sleeping on my chest as she wouldn't sleep any other way.
so i was wondering which formula i should look at buying, there are so many i don't know which to get.
im really annoyed coz she put on 520 grams in 9 days being breastfeed but i cant keep having stuff like this happen, all i could do last night was cry, i felt like there was nothing i could do for her, i hated feeling like that!
sorry about the me post!

I would stay away from s26. It constipated our little man and has for everyone I have spoken to that has tried it. We use Karicare HA - the hydrolised formula seems to be best for his stomach :)

I orignally stayed away from s26 too as people i had spoken to had horror stories about wind and colic but its the only formula that works for my little girl... when i first brought her home she had really bad wind... she used to be up all night screaming in pain so i tryed another formula and it didnt make a difference... finally i decided i would just try s26 and the first night i put her on that she slept through the night and has ever since. When i first tryed different formula's for Maddison i kept Lucas on the orginal one we tryed(because he was having no problems with it) which was Heinz but once i found one that worked for Maddison we put him on it to and he had no problem with it either... i think every baby is different and you will find the one that is best for your baby even if you have to try a few!!!

I have no great advice but I just wanted to give you great big :hugs: lozie2 because what I see is a lovely mummy trying her best and working her hardest and loving her bub. Don't feel guilty about the 'me' posts because we all need support sometimes!!!
BF'ing or FF'ing..you will do what is best for you and your bub and if all sanity fails, my favourite saying is...This too shall pass!
:hugs:
Aw Lozie big :hugs: for ya.
All I would say is if you don't want to give up, don't. I know it is hard but you can get through it if you want to keep going. Easier said than done I know, I went through that with DD but went on to feed her for 13 months. But well now I know the other side too as Zane ultimately refused boobie so we are now FF. We are using S26 original and its been great. My CHN recommended Heinz Nurture though.
Whatever you decide good luck and things will get better either way. I also use MangroveJanes saying. It got me through some shocker times with DD!
 to everyone. I hope you are all getting some sleep and enjoying your beautiful bubbahs.
Big hugs Lozie... you need to decide what's best for you and for Cassie. But whatever choices you make you are doing it in the best interests of your little girl and yourself so you needn't feel guilty. Going onto formula is sometimes a necessity for your sanity or bub's health, but it's not going to adversely affect Cassie. If you really want to continue with breast and feel you can, do it! If not there are lots of different formulas out there, you just need to see which Cassie prefers. I've been using Karicare Gold since I stopped BF and Kian is fine on that. Never had any problems.
Just don't beat yourself up about the decision that you make. It's not being made lightly and you need to trust in your judgement. You are being the very best mummy you can be. You're doing a great job.
Just wanted to say hi to you all
I read every day, but can't really contribute yet as my bub is still in special care. I love reading about your day's though & can't wait till I can join in your chat.
:hugs: Lozie. As the others have said, you are a great mum & if you want to keep breastfeeding you can. With formula's, I used S26 with my older 2 with no probs. DS2 is on Elecare due to allergies. Just thought I'd mention, in special care, they give the formula fed babies Nan HA as they say it's closest to breast milk. Don't know how correct that is, but thought I'd let you know.
ETA -Meant to ask, is anyone from Western Sydney?

Hey no bad mums round here EM! You did what needed to be done to give Lucas (and you) some relief. That's the thing, it just becomes a vicious circle where you get more weary and stressed, thus stressing bub and him not able to relax, and then you get more weary etc...
So seriously instead of worrying about your bathrooms etc... go close your eyes for a bit. Reinvigorate yourself and then you can tackle the cleaning when you feel more energetic.
Thanks, that made me feel better.
I didnt worry about the bathrooms and other housework but i didnt get to rest as Lucas was too unsettled.

Awwwww dont feel bad these things happen, it's not your fault, you arent horrible or useless. You can get nilstat from the chemist for oral thrush and use canesten cream for her bum just check with the chemist about the cream though
I used Karicare for my dd but she has a milk allergy so she had to have neocate and with my ds we used Karicare then Karicare HA-AR (hypo-allergenic/anti reflux) and now Karicare soy as we think he may have the same milk allergy. So far he is goin ok om the soy. I have heard alot of bad things about S26 but some babies are fine with it. Heing is also supposed to be good.
If you still want to bf maybe you can express to keep up milk supply untill the thrush clears up, not sure if you will be able to feed bub the breast milk while you have thrush but if not you can ff until you are better also to stop your nipples getting damaged maybe you could use Lansinoh.
Hang in there, things will get better soon :hugs:

Hi Kotakai hope your bub is doin ok and is out of special care nursery soon, look forward to chatting to you.
Well Lucas was taken to hospital last night and was in there for 5 hours, they done a urine test and blood tests, took them 3 goes in 3 different spots to get the blood, the first spot they couldnt get the needle in properly (not the dr's fault) and took a few mins of poking around before they got it in then wen they did get it in they couldnt get enough blood then they tried his other hand and got some blood but it crystalised before they could get it to the machine to test it so they took more from inside his elbow, Lucas was screaming i was crying it was horrible.
The dr's think he may have pyloric stenosis which is something to do with a muscle in his stomach, they were going to admit him but decided we could go home and we had to go back for an ultrasound today so we'll get the results next week, if it is that he will need an operation
Dr said if its not that then its just bad reflux and he possibly has a milk allergy so they have given him Losec and he is on soy formula aswell as me breastfeeding him, when he sees the paed he may put Lucas on Neocate formula.
He also has a slight hernia and Hydrocele
Now we are starting to get things sorted out i may start to get some sleep and get things done, most of all i just want my bub happy and healthy, its horrible seeing him in pain

My lil girl is on s26 alpha gold pro and we havent had too many problems with it. The midwives at the hospital recommended it to us because its supposed to be very close to breast milk...
I have a bit of a tmi question for you fellow mummies out there if I may..My blood loss nearly disapeared at 2 weeks after birth but soon after that it came back heavy, crampy and bright red with some clots..it hasnt really slowed down and has been just over a week now like that. Is this normal?? I got told it could be my period but mine never lasts for over 7 days..
Greeneyes, I know it can come and go, but if it's clotty I'd be wondering too. Are you having any pains or feeling unwell otherwise? Maybe call the MCHN and ask. Just be wary of retained placenta.... that's all.

I'm a very sad mumma at the moment :( Bubs has never been a big fan of BF mainly cause he couldn't suck very well. He wasn't putting on weight so I was told to give him formula as well and now we've reached a point where he just prefers the fast flowing bottle. I don't want to give up BF, I try and get him to feed every time but he screams like a mad man and ends up getting a bottle. I have tried using a nipple shield, expressing (which I'm crap at) seen a lactation consultant, contacted the ABA and it's just not happening. I usually manage to get the first couple of feeds of the day to be breast but yesterday I only managed the first one and today he wouldn't take it at all. I'm desperately trying to keep up my milk supply but I feel like it's time to let go.
I know you FF mums will be thinking I'm a total nutbag, and I probably am, but I didn't have any trouble feeding my first 2 and now that I can't do it this time I REALLY REALLY want to.
And I know that I shouldn't let this bother me, but by crikey people can be so judgmental when you're feeding your new baby with a bottle!! I was at the park today and a friend of a friend (someone I had never met before) commented that bubs sounded like he had asthma (he's a noisy feeder) and breast milk would be so much better for him if he's asthmatic! That helps, thanks :hair:
Big hugs MIS. I don't have any advice as I'm sure you've exhausted all avenues.
Try not to be so hard on yourself though. You are doing the most wonderful job looking after your little man, and if he's happier being on a bottle, so be it.
People are judgemental either way (like the people who like to tell my my boobs are the wrong shape, so I should just give up bfing and give bubs the bottle. No other reasons though). It really sucks that others think they have a right to comment on what you should be doing, but I'd like to see them in your shoes.
You have 3 wonderful healthy kiddies. I don't know how you cope with 3, I find it hard enough dealing with the 2, so kudos to you.
All the very best with whichever way you go. xoxo
Hi girls! How are we all?
I'm not too bad... Had a slight melt down last night, mainly because I am tired and have pushed myself to have too much done. DS has been quite wakeful lately which is not at all like him, and when he wakes in the middle of his sleep, he is the crankiest little man ever. You would think someone had cut off a leg.It takes quite a while to settle him and I got cranky with Hubs because he said he was over the crying yesterday.... um, hello. I have to deal with it 24 hours a day without the option of going to work. So I made him deal with the two kids while I went to bed. LOL I was only in bed for 10 minutes before he decided to put the kids down and come to bed aswell. Slacker! I knew he couldn't last the distance. haha
Other than that, things are going well still. Apart from DS being master smotherer adn wanting to throw all his love over his sister, everything's been prety good. I shouldn't complain about one or two crappy nights, as I know I've got it easy.
Anyway, enough dribble. I need to get a few things done while I have the chance so I can sit down and relax. Would be nice for both the kiddies to sleep then entire time DS is down later on.... then I'd be able to get everything done and chill.
Hope you are all doing well!!
Aw EM - sending you hugs for you and your little man. I hope you get things sorted soon, poor little darling. At least something is being done!
MIS - Noone thinks you're a nutbag! You need to do what best suits you and your little fella. And for goodness sake - don't take any notice of the ignorant people who make stupid comments. We hear stupid comments all the way through the pregnancy, with people telling us we should be doing this that or the other. Now they think they have the right to tell us how to raise our kiddies. Well they can all just b*gger off! There is only one person who knows what works best for our littlies, and that is us mums!!!
Herchy - I know what you mean... hubby gets frustrated when Kian puts up a fight to go for a sleep... He's an awesome daddy but he's at work all day and doesn't see what I go through all day everyday! I don't get a break and I do have meltdowns sometimes. At times I just have to walk away from Kian and let him cry because I need 5 mins to breathe. Hubby is pretty good about taking over when he's home and I've had enough (and he wants his dinner cooked...lol), but he soon has enough and wants Kian to sleep!
My CHN said that the bleeding will come and go, be different colours and consistencies for about 6 weeks. She said if it seems to stop around 3 weeks don't be fooled into leaving the house without a pad cause it'll be back.
MIS ~ Hun, please don't be so hard on yourself about this & you're so not a nutbag. You are doing what's best for you & your DS & that's all that matters. Those small minded people should just keep their mouths shut, what would they know is best for your DS. Take care hun.
Herchy ~ that your DH couldn't manage on his own. It's not like you can hit the off switch for the crying.
 to everyone else, hope you're all well. DD & i are doing well.

I think what makes it harder is you've done it before and ts bloody heartbreaking when they just don't want it. Don't be so hard on yourself you are a fabulous mum and are doing all the right things. If it makes you feel better I can tell you that once I finally accepted it I felt alot better but I just needed a few weeks to get my head around it cos it is absolutely heartbreaking.
Lozie2, how are you going with Cassie, have you tried her with formula yet? Hope everything is ok and you are feeling better.
Eboniesmum I hope Lucas is okay :hugs:
mumsie glad your weight loss is going good!
greeneyes has it eased at all yet?
Herchy & Ushas I have the same with my hubby. Last night when Zane was unsettled he was all stressed after 5 minutes! I yelled at him cos i was crabby and said you may be great with toddlers but you suck at babies! he said I know! oh well at least he admits it
Went to OB today for my checkup and got antibiotics as my C section scar is infected, bummer but at least i know now why i have been feeling so crappy. Zane had his immunisations yesterday so he was a bit cranky but much better today.
Have a good weekend all :flowerz:
Hi ladies!! So glad to be here finally. Can I be a May mummy even though DS is a June bug? I've read through all the posts and Im going to try to keep up with personals, even just reading the posts from everyone else has been so helpful already in determining what things to worry about and what to forget about!!
Milk is fully in atm, so just dealing with engorgement and intense heat in there, but doing okay. Its only been 4 days since DS made an appearance and Im coping pretty well, some sad times but many loved up moments.
Im only sleeping about 4-5 broken hours per night, I've read thats normal in the first few weeks at least. Not able to sleep during the day even when DS takes "big" (2+ hour) naps, and he never sleeps more than 3 in one stretch, but Im sure I will if I get that desperately tired.
I just wanted to say, from the bottom of my heart, thanks to all the "may" mums from the due section, you have helped me so much through my pregnancy and answered all my questions. Im looking forward to the same thing in this section! :smiliedance: Im a bit hormonal still, that nearly made me tear up! In a good way....
Love and hugs to everyone struggling, (which is everyone, in some way, we have newborns!) I think you are all amazing. :hugs:

Hi ladies!! dont get in here that often as my twins are a handful during the day... they sleep really well at night which is good because by the time it gets to night im stuffed. My twins have just started crying off each other... if one is in pain and im comforting him/her the other starts crying because they are not getting the attention... it drives me crazy some days as im not able to comfort them both properly at the same time... My house is an absolute mess as i dont have time to clean it (its driving me nuts as im usually a bit of a clean freak lol)
Sorry about the me post... Hope everyone esle is coping ok :-)
Yey Lilaah! Of course you're allowed to stay here with the May Mummies. You are one of us still even if mischief decided to make you wait till June!
Don't worry about the tearing up... it keeps happening on occasion. I've become all pathetic and cry at tv programs, adverts, just about anything really! Lol!
Lol at your hubby KyKy! Bummer about the infection though. Hope it clears up quickly for you! I've got my 6 week appt next Thursday and I'm just praying for the ok so I can drive and do things again and have my life back!
M2T - I just don't know how you do it with twins! You must be a super-mum. I go mad with just the one. You have as many 'me' posts as you want... In fact you should be allowed double the amount of all of us with one bub! Heheheh

Well, I’m finding BFing hard at the moment. I’m struggling to put the weight on William. He had a large initial weight loss. Then he put on some weight but he had lost weight on Tuesday when the midwives weighed him. I bought a manual breast pump and started expressing to increase my supply but he is still only putting on an average of 10g a day. So today I got prescribed Domperidone to increase my milk supply. I also have to top up his feeds with expressed milk or if I don’t have enough, then formula in the meantime. He’s going to be weighed again on Sunday. I’m so worried he’s not going to make much improvement. I’m seeing a lactation consultant on Thursday. I just hope this turns around real soon. It’s been very draining.

ushas- Thanks hun!! It gets hard sometimes especially being single and doing it on my own but i have a lovely mum who has come around tonight to do the night feeds for me so i can get a good nights sleep (shes awsome :-) )!!!
CheekyChicken- congrats on the arrival of you bub! Hope everything is going well and you are recovering from your section ok... i had one too and i couldnt believe how painful it was!!
Macaroon- aw hun... hope things get better and the weight gain of your little one improves
To everyone else hi and hope everyone is going well :-) xoxoxo
Thanks Ushas! Good to know Im not the only sook... Im also taking criticism very poorly these days. Not getting much at all, almost everyone is super supportive but the odd comment from someone about whether or not he should be wearing a hat can get me teary. Hope that clears up! Kian is beautiful, what a good head of hair he has!
CC: I read your post in the May thread, oh honey I hope you feel better soon. Im glad your little bub is coping well. How long till you can go home?
macaroon: How much did bub weigh at birth? I think its great you are perservering with BF, I hope your supply improves and the LC helps you out. Hang in there! :hugs:
mummy2twins: I agree with Ushas, you are AMAZING. Do you get much sleep? Im finding it so tough with just one. Your little ones are so lucky to have you.
AFM, DS is doing his cluster feeding atm. He likes to do that for about 7 hours at night so far. Last night it was midnight till 7am, feeding every 45-75 mins. Then he did two 3 hour breaks which got me some sleep. I really hope he settles into a better pattern soon, demand feeding is kicking my ***. Am hoping my cracked nipples heal soon too and engorgement goes down. I never knew BF was so bloody hard. Last night at 4am I kept thinking foooooormula.... foooooooormula!! Will try to hang out for another few weeks tho. :fingerscrossed:
On the plus side, had a glass of wine tonight!! Don't care if I get judged, it was delicious. Been far too long.
Hope everyone is doing well. :hugs:
Kyky- im sticking to breastfeeding, after all that! thanks for the advice tho every1!! i figure ive fed through cracked nipples i can feed through thrush! i think my DFs mum just needs to stop telling me what to do and ill be a lot happier. Plus i have given DF jobs, lol sounds bossy but its working, i was doing everything for cassie trying to keep the house clean. so now he washes her nappies and keeps the main areas of the house clean, until he starts working more hours.
Lilahh- YAY YOUR FINALLY HERE WITH US! i thought the same thing, no1 tells you how painful breastfeeding is. i came to the conclusion that i would give birth 100 times over b4 every feeding again.... i know every1 will say this to you bit it does get better. less painful, just don't let it get you down. i did and its not worth it!
Mum2twins- you are a super mum. i see ppl with twins and now give that, well done i couldn't do that! coz i truly couldn't cassie is enough for me!
CheekyChicken- i hope your better soon!
well gtg feeding time at the zoo!!!

Hi all!
Finding time to get on here, catch up with everyone and type a message is very difficult!
DS1 has his 2 yr molars coming through so has been very whingy, DS2 fights daytime sleep and takes ages to go off unless being rocked and DH is not coping well with lack of sleep even tho I do all the night feeds and 99% of the day feeds!
So not had time to do much but my mom is staying for 4 weeks till I fly back with her to the UK (with 2 kids in tow!) so she has been a good help.
For those struggling with breast feeding I do feel for you. I did well to start with then went down hill. Wish I had stuck it out a bit longer but having said that I feel much happier and relaxed with the bottle.
The best thing is to try and not stress about it and do what you feel is best for you.
Apart from the sleep/settling in the day Aiden is great, he started smiling at 3 weeks old and is doing about 5/6 hours at night.
His stools have been quite firm and I read on here that the gold formulas can make them more runny. Does any one else find this?
We have been using s26 orginal and was going to try the gold so wondering what everyone else is using and how they find it?

His stools have been quite firm and I read on here that the gold formulas can make them more runny. Does any one else find this?
We have been using s26 orginal and was going to try the gold so wondering what everyone else is using and how they find it?
We are using NAN HA GOLD. This is what our hospital used so I just went with that. Bubs poos are certainly not firm! In fact I have just had to call my DH to get him to come home so I could have a shower and wash all the poo off ME! I was wiping his bum after a poo and it was then that he decided to finish it off. In a loud explosion I was covered - even in my nostril and up my dressing gown sleeve
Not to say that this happens every time :o
MIS - I was trying to read your post out to hubby but couldn't. He had to tell me to stop and calm myself down and tell him again when I could breathe. I have cried buckets with laughter! Thanks honey! :)
JD's Mummy - We use Karicare Gold and Kian's poos are not firm either... though he's never exploded over me!!! Hahahahahaha... oops sorry still in stitches!
Lilaah - poor you! I hope he settles down soon and gives you some respite! That's hard work! Have you considered expressing so that your other half can do some feeding during the night as well?
Well Kian has had a great night. He went to sleep at 6ish and didn't wake up till 1.30am! Shame it was evening and not overnight though! He then woke again around 4 and then just after 8! Not that I knew anything about it cause hubby stayed up and did all the night feeds so I could catch up on some sleep. It was bliss! Kian is now back in bed and fast asleep again.
But I discovered a new strategy yesterday when he had me completely worn out... I put him to bed and he woke up immediately and started wailing, so I picked him up, got him to sleep again, put him to bed and AWAKE!!! So I left him in bed and just sat next to his cot and stroked his hair and face. He will take a dummy at times but spits it out when he's having a hissy fit so I just put it in and gently held it there till he started sucking. The combo of sucking and stroking his head sent him straight to sleep, at which time he spit out his dummy, but didn't require it anymore! So YEY! Tried same strategy this morning and it worked again! So fingers crossed this will help settle him more quickly.

Hi all!
We have been using s26 orginal and was going to try the gold so wondering what everyone else is using and how they find it?
We had the exact same problem with s26 original - solid poos (ie constipation. We put our boy straight onto Karicare HA and nice runny poos ever since.
In my opinion s26 is awful.
We had a 7.5 hour stretch of sleep last night...bliss!

Lilahh, DS weighed 3820g at birth and currently weighs 3470g. I’ve just been so exhausted from the constant feeding and expressing that DH looked after him last night and fed him formula so I could just sleep right through. I feel a lot better for it today.

Hi,
Havnt posted on here in a while but have been checking in on what everyones been upto.
Took Jensen for his 6 week immunisation today, he only cried a little bit which was good and now he is sound asleep none the wiser. :)
He is sleeping better at night now. His usual pattern is that he will have an unsettled time between about 7.00pm and midnight but then he will sleep for 6 1/2 hrs which I cant complain about. He doesnt sleep much during the day but he enjoys lying in his cot and looking around so I race around doing the housework in between putting his dummy back in and giving him cuddles when he gets cranky
My DH cant understand why it takes me all day to just do the dishes and some washing. WTF!!! What does he think im doing in the meantime lol. Its not like ive got a newborn baby, and three other children to look after. I hate it when they go to work and think that we sit at home and do nothing. I would like to see him try and do what we do during the day.
Anyway minor rant over lol. Hope everyone is doing well. Cant believe how big all our bubbas are starting to get. Still feels like only yesterday that I had Jensen.
Enjoy your weekend ladies and try and stay warm.

Yay, well I'm home now (but I thought that this time last week too). All up it was 10 nights in hospital, they aren't sure what it was but they reckoned mastitis, it sure hit me for 6 with the fevers of over 40 degrees 3 nights running.
Breast feeding is going really well for me now, thankfully I was over that horrible razor blade feeling after a week (lucky me but I think I deserved it after all of my birth drama).
Mummy2twins - I was surprised about how painless the C-sect and recovery were ( I wasn't on any pain killers either that I know of). I did have all internal stitches and maybe I was given painkillers some other way after my hemhorraging and back to theatre... when I asked about pain killers all they said was it was inside me... they might have implanted something??? I know they inserted a pessary?
Lilahh, hang on with the feeding if you can stand it! Though he isn't giving you much of a break. One minute I had blood coming out of my nipples and the next the pain was gone. Get some Lansinoh if you haven't already, and remember the more you feed the easier it will get. Nipples heal very fast!
Ushas - your strategy seems to work for Lara as well, she's a very wide awake baby. Also putting her down in front of TV seems to keep her happy until she falls asleep.

Hi everyone  Well bleeding has calmed down alot now thankgod, but now I have one snuffly nosed bub :( Ive been using s26 alpha gold pro and shes been doing regular poos but they are always firm/hard and she suffers from wind..do you think or recommend another formula? I did originally get recommended the gold (by midwives) because of all the extra stuff they put in it, but do they really need all of that??
Ushas you dh sounds fantastic! I might have try your strategy out
Muminshock Hehehehe your post gave me a well needed laugh today, gotta love those moments..
CheekyChicken sounds like your docs gave you a local anisthetic...I had the same thing put in my nether region when I had my episistomy, glad to hear your okay now. I had mastitis and its horrible.
Lilahh dont feel bad for a having a wine hun! We are allowed to have our indulgences, especially since sleep is out of the question hehe..Glad to see you and bubs are doing well :)
Lilahh congratulations on the safe arrival of Lincoln! Glad you enjoyed your glass of wine too!
Mummy2twins, I agree with Ushas, you deserve a double me post!!! Sounds like you are doing a fantastic job with your gorgeous bubbahs too!
Ushas, hope Thursday gets here quick so you can get your freedom back. Sucks not to be able to get out and about when you want! How are you feeling now? Sounds like Kian is doing well with sleep and your new settling, that’s great!
Cheeky, what an ordeal you’ve been through! Hope you are taking it easy and congratulations on baby Lara too.
Macaroon hope things get better with feeding and weight soon. Good on you for getting a well deserved good nights sleep.
Lozie, glad you are ok and I hope the thrush goes away soon for ya so you can keep enjoying BF. Best advice re DF’s mum, just go yep uha oh yes thanks for the advice, then just do exactly what you want anyway. Works a treat! I don’t think its bossy either, sometimes they just need to know what to do to help. My hubby has a list half the time lol.
Jdsmummy we are using S26 original and haven’t had any dramas. Let us know how you go if you change.
MIS you crack me up. Not so good about wearing poo but that’s hilarious!
Heidilee, I am sooo jealous 7.5 hours is awesome!
Naeandjj, I take my hat of to you, four kids OMG I am struggling some days with my two. Men hey, maybe he needs to have all four to himself for a day so he gets the idea real quick huh!
Greeneyes, I wish there was just one brand of formula, all the stuff you read/hear is so confusing hey. Let us know if you change and it helps with wind.
Well I am off to bed, both bubs are sleeping soundly YAY!!! Nite all
Lozie: Thanks for the welcome! Im glad to be here finally. Hope the thrush clears up for you, thats sounds awful. Does it upset bub at all or just hurt you?
jdsmummy: How cute, first smile! I can't wait to see DS first smile. :yelclap:
MIS: Your bub should win an award for that poo!! In your nostril?? I haven't been pooed or weed on yet but that could be cause I make DP do all the changes. :devil6:
Ushas: I can't see the point of expressing because it seems to take so long even with a pump. I just feel like it doubles my work, even though I know I could technically sleep through a feed. Plus, my breasts don't last longer then 3 hours before they are boiling hot and bursting, I can't sleep through it. Last night I let DS go for 3.5 hours before I just had to wake him up for some relief.
Glad you got a settling strategy for Kian! DS doesn't really like dummies atm, Im trying to use them during nappy changes because he gets hysterical, you'd think I was stabbing him.
macaroon: Im glad you got some sleep, keeping your sanity is the most important thing. :hugs:
CC: Glad to hear you are back home! My boobs just feel really chewed on atm, even though my cracked nipples are healing nicely. I can't sing the praises of lanisinoh enough.
greeneyes: good luck sorting out a good formula, it is hard seeing bubs in pain with wind. :hugs: hope her stuffy nose gets better!
Kyky: Hope you had a nice long sleep!
AFM, Last nights cluster feed was totally bearable, only went for about 4 hours. Then he did four good 2.5 hour sleeps and I got rest. I feel a million dollars! I let DP get an 8 hour stretch of sleep because I was feeling so good about doing the night shift alone. I can't stay to chat, Lincoln has just woken for his breakfast feed. Hope everyone slept well! And are staying warm. :sunshine:
Im planning my first outing on Tuesday with Lincoln and DP, Im so excited to show him to the world! He will be 8 days old then, thats not too early is it? :detective:

hello again everyone, haven't been able to get on here much since Lucas has been sick but now the dr has him on Losec he has calmed down a bit only thing is now he has a cold so poor bugger is all stuffed up in the nose and its driving him insane.
I've read over all the posts and was going to do personals but way too many to do. Will try and stay caught up now lol
Have a good day everyone
xo
Lilaah - you just have to do what feels right for you. You're right about the expressing being lots of work, but lets face it if you can't sleep through your milk coming down there's little point! So long as you're happy with everything, good on you!
As for the dummy - Kian will spit it out immediately, but if I put just a teeny bit of pressure on it so he can't he'll start sucking and that comforts him enough to calm down and sleep. I don't want him to get in the habit of using a dummy to soothe, so I don't use it all the time, just when he's really, really stressing.
Kian had his first outing at 6 days old. He was fine and thoroughly enjoyed all the fuss and attention. And when he'd had enough I took him back to settle him.
Since then we've been out and about pretty constantly. The capsule is brilliant though cause if he's asleep there's no need to wake him at all. So enjoy your outing. I'm a firm believer in bub becoming a part of our lives rather than allowing our lives to only revolve around him.
I read somewhere that babies hate the 'naked' feeling that goes with nappy changes/baths for the first couple of weeks. Kian was the same though, you'd think we were torturing him every time we changed a nappy. But he loves his baths now and smiles and makes the cutest 'giggly gurgly' noises. He loves being splashed. Just new experiences they need to learn about I guess.
EM - so glad something is helping your little man. Shame about the cold though. Kian has had one for ages, stuffy nose, but he doesn't seem bothered by it much. I think I'll try the saline solution and suction thingy this week though. And maybe a little dose of panadol, see if we can't clear it up.
KyKy - I'm feeling really good most of the time. Things 'down there' feel much more normal. The lovely, enormous, TMI, haemorrhoids have almost gone! I still feel a little light-headed at times, but generally I feel human again. I read somewhere yesterday that research shows a woman who's gone through a 'traumatic' birth can take up to 12 months to get back to normal. Can't wait till Thursday though! Yippee...driving again! I wonder if I'll remember how to? Lol!
AFM - Our lovely greyhound has hurt her back leg trying to get up. She's quite old and was seeming quite stiff getting up off her bed. She slipped on the lino and I think has twisted or sprained her back leg. But that was about 1am and she was yelping and crying so much. Fortunately my hubby was up and able to try helping her. She's putting a bit of weight on it today but is still feeling very tender and sore. I'm hoping it'll improve throughout the day. Poor hubby stayed up all night with her.

sorry got to run but be back later for more personals!
enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone!
lilahh- b4 we had meds for cassie she was upset the whole night! i just get really itchy nipples, but they are gettin better :D
Also can any1 tell me how many dirty nappies is normal, cassie is having a dirty nappy every feed, so anywhere between 6 and 8 a day! some big and some only small but still that seems like alot! i thought they were meant to have 1 a day when they are breastfed? well i was told anywhere between 1 a day and 1 every 10 days
Lozie, Cassie is havint he right amount of dirty nappies ;) From memory (I could be wrong about this), dirty nappies occur due to bubs getting more milk than they actually need. So that's a fabulous thing! Means Cassie is well fed!
Hi girls!! How are we all?
I've been flat out.... We picked up our new car yesterday.... I love it. hehe
Allira is going great. We scored an 8 hours stretch last night and boy did my boobs have something to say about that!! hehe. Pity DS woke halfway through, but he's been so good ever since Allira arrived.
Allira was one month old yesterday!!! I cannot believe just how quickly that has gone!! WOW!
I haven't had a chance to go back through posts, but I should be able to keep up from here in. hehe.
Hope you are all nice and warm. Sending lots of sleepy vibes to your little ones!
xxoo
Kian has one dirty nappy a day on average. He's formula fed. I was under the impression that breast fed bubs pooed more often than FF bubs. But I'm gonna go google.
Found this...
"As your colostrum develops into mature milk your baby should have at least 3 or 4 bowel movements in a 24-hour period for the first 4 to 6 weeks. Your baby may even have a bowel movement before, during or after every feeding. While most babies bowel movements start to decrease after 6 weeks, don’t be alarmed if your baby continues to have frequent ones or one every other day. Every baby is different; if you have any doubt, concerns or questions, always call and ask your doctor."
Yeah FF bubs can be anything from 1 -4 dirty nappies a day from what I've read.
Lozie: Lincoln has at least 3 dirty nappies in a 24 hour period. 3 are good and pooey and then there are usually 1 or 2 extra that are just little smears.... TMI?? Lol. He is a little jaundiced atm so Im glad he is pooing a lot, my MW says it should clear up his jaundice quickly.
Ushas: Hope your pup feels better! Did you have interventions in your labour? Glad the haemorrhoids are getting better. DP tried swaddling Lincoln's upper half when getting changed, he likes that a lot and seems to only squeal a bit now. How often do you bathe Kian? Lincoln is getting one once every 3 days... its just too cold atm plus we are washing his bottom and face a few times a day.
Herchy: Happy 1 month to Allira! :smiliedance: Where did you choose her name from, its so sweet! Enjoy the new car.

Hi all!
lozie - Aiden only has 1 dirty nappy a day but DS1 would have a dirty nappy nearly every feed and sometimes there was so much we have to change his nappy and his baby grow!
Herchy - Aiden is a day older than Allira, cant believe he will be 5 weeks old tomorrow!
Aiden did 7 hours last night till 2am then nearly 5 hours till 6.45am! It did take 2 hours to settle him at the start of the night tho! :(
Well we changed to s26 gold and poos are still firm but some are a bit softer. Its only been a couple of days and he only poos once a day.
Have been giving him some water which was suggested by the health nurse.
Morning girls!
Jdsmummy - 5 weeks old tomorrow! :smiliedance: How fast is it going??!! It's just mad! Glad to hear you are starting to gt the poo issues sorted. I know just how heartbreaking it is seeing them in so much discomfort.
Lilahh - The story behind the middle name. Well, I got pregnant in July'06. I didn't realise for quite a few weeks that I was pg as we weren't trying and my AF tends to be irregular (and I've never ever really taken any notice of when it turns up). I had a strange feeling for about a week that I couldn't shake, so Hubs and I got a test and sure enough BFP. Anyway, the night before I tested, I just knew it would come up, and the name Allira Maddison came into my head. Ihave no idea where it came from.
I ended up m/cing a week after my BFP. So I've had the name for quite a few years, ready to go when the time was right. If Allira had been a boy, I wouldn't have been able to use it.
Ushas - Nice job with the poo info. LOL
My child must be odd. SHe will have a movement before, during and after a feed, every feed. LMAO. So we've been going through the nappies like no tomorrow here. haha.
I know that BF babies can go around 10 days between movements aswell, so anyone who has experienced that before, expect that to happen. It's no drama, they just don't need to. I found it so odd when DS did it for the first time. LOL
Another 6.5 hours last night. :smiliedance: Sorry to brag, I am just NOT used to this at all. DS was horrible (as I keep proabbly saying), so I was expecting much the same. This is awesome! I am getting more sleep now with 2 kids than I did with 1. Am about on par with the time before I fell pregnant... so About May/June 06. lmao. Sad sad sad I am.
Lilaah - Yeah the greyhound seems much better now. Hubby thinks a lot of it is in her head anyway...Lol!
Yes Kian needed suction to make his appearance. It caused a 3rd degree tear and I apparently lost masses of blood. So recovery has been slow going. It sounds mad cause it's not like I had major surgery like you do with a caesar, but because of where the stitches are (internal and external) I'm not supposed to be putting any downward pressure on that area. So even sitting is supposed to be very limited. So it's been a PITA...well a pain in the 'other bits' anyway...Lol!
The midwives said to only bathe him once every couple of days during winter and he doesn't really need it much. So that's what I do. With a wipe over at other times. Fortunately I have an air-con/heating vent right over the benchtop where I bathe him. But even so he starts to shiver and do a little teeth chatter thing occasionally. But he's not really dirty so baths are pretty quick. And since Kian was blessed with a lovely head of hair I wash that with a very mild bub shampoo every few baths. It can get a bit grotty if I don't. Otherwise I just wipe over it with a flannel.
Herchy - I know, a bit tragic when I start googling 'Dirty nappies, BF' lol!
Okay last night Kian had a feed at 5pm. He was at my folks so didn't want to sleep (cause he's too nosey and is frightened he'll miss something) and didn't end up going to sleep until 8pm. I tried giving him a bottle but he was too tired to drink it. He slept in daddy's arms, while he was working and apparently had to be woken at 1.30 for another feed so that daddy could go to bed too. He fell asleep immediately afterwards, then woke at 5am for another feed. Straight back to bed and he's just about ready to get up now at 8am.
If only we could shift that late evening sleep a few hours forwards! Lol!

Ushas and mumsiemel- thanks. Yeah Lucas was bein a bit of a sook with his cold but can't say i blame him, poor bugger was struggling to breathe and was blowing so many snot bubbles ...TMI lol. We used FESS little noses (i bought the kit with the saline spray and aspirator) which helped but the aspirator that came with it isnt that good, its to hard to squeeze and i'm scared im going to hurt him. The saline spray seemed enough to help him anyway so we only used the aspirator a few times.
Ushas - Yes shifting that sleep a few hours forward would be great. Lucas does exactly what Kian does, he'll feed between 7:30 and 9:30 stay awake for 2 to 3 hours then start getting tired and won't want another bottle so he'll go to sleep and then wake up between 1:30 and 3:30am then go back to sleep and wake between 5 and 6. Last night he fed at 7:30pm was awake until 8:30 then slept until 1:30 then got fed and slept till 5:30 would be nice if he could do his long stretch of sleep between 11pm and 6am but of course he wouldnt do what his mother wants what kid would lol

so another silly question,,,, should i be feeding cassie every 3 or 4 hours? im breastfeeding??
hey lozie, glad the breastfeeding is going well for you! I fed DD on demand in the early stages to ensure your supply is there but eventually she regulated it herself every three hours.

LOZIE
I feed Landen every 3-4 hrs during the day, as long as they get 6-8 feeds a day its all good :D
On long sleeps on Saturday night Landen slept from 730pm till 430am!!
I kept waking up worried that he wasnt awake! LOL
Well took Landen to the doc today for his 2 mts shots (they are giving them early here at 6 wks due to a whooping cough out break!)
And he weighed 5.6kg dressed!!!!! A gain of about 2 kg since birth!!!! Very happy with that!
But his poor legs are swollen and red and hard, poor little mite :(
Have just given him a warm bath and put him down, hoping he has a good nap. :hugs:
Lozie - It depends on Cassie I guess... So long as she's putting on weight and is healthy...
HeidiLee - I am getting quite jealous now, so stop it! Lol!
MM - What's the matter with Landen's legs? I know what you mean about those long sleeps though. I lie there waiting to hear him snuiffle or cry or something. I worry constantly and often send hubby in to 'just check he's ok'. Lol! I'm getting better but still like to know he's ok!
Poor Kian has had a rough morning. Had a poorly tummy. He vomited up pretty much everything I gave him, including a cool Projectile one all over me. And he had a weird dark patch of poo in his nappy among the normal yellow stuff. Sorry TMI. But he was still smiling and alert and seemed ok. He didn't really want any milk this morning though. I gave him a dose of Brauer Colic Relief and he did the hugest burp I have every heard from such a small man! I gave him a feed at 11am and he's kept that down and has gone for a lovely long sleep. I can hear him making getting up noises now. So anyway, I think whatever it was had passed... Fingers crossed. I hate seeing him like that!

Sore from his needles, one in each leg :(
Heidi Lee- yay on the sleeps! I am so with you on when bubs sleeps, you sleep. I would do more of it during the day if I could, but it's too hard with DS here and so much to do.
Lozie - Allira has regulated herself to every 3 hours during the day for feeds. I am demand feeding.
She has put on well over a kg since birth and is sleeping well. If your little one is happy and is putting on weight and getting a fair amount of sleep, then just go with the flow. it's hard to know if they are having enough because you can' tell how much they are drinking, but as long as bubs is having plenty of wet nappies and is happy and sleeping... that's how I know Allira is doing well.
MM - what a fantastic weight gain for you little man! Well done!
Oh th 2 mth injections... not looking forward to that. I will have to book in... Allira will be 9 weeks old before she gets them, but that's the way it works out here.
Ushas - sorry to hear Kian has had a rough morning, but glad he is much better now. You sound like you are coping so well. Like a pro! I wouldn't know what to do and it's my second time around. LOL Well done!
Hi EM, Kyky and everyone else!
MM - Oh poor little lad! I'm dreading taking Kian for his...
Herchy - I have no idea what I'm doing really. But since he wasn't fretful or cranky particularly I didn't think I needed to panic and I just did whatever I could. I ended up giving him a bottle with just water in it because I was worried he'd become a bit dehydrated as he wasn't taking any milk. He seemed happy enough with that, and had a bit of milk later on with daddy. He's sleeping peacefully now.

DH is happy, he didn't think he would get MY boobs back for a while yet
I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. It was OK when I was still trying but now that the milk is gone I feel really lost... couple of days I'm sure I'll be right. I miss it already though :(

Aww hun you did your best :hugs:
Morning mummies
Lozie: DS feeds between every 45mins to 4 hours. Slowly starting to get a bit of a pattern built up, but on average he goes 2 hours. I'd say we do 11-12 feeds per 24 hours which my MW said is normal
MIS::hugs::hugs: I hope you feel better soon hon. Don't be hard on yourself, like MM said you did your best!
For mummies with older bubs (lol everyone here) how long did it take for your newborns to settle into their own pattern of feeding? DS is only 8 days, Im not expecting miracles or anything but just curious.
AFM, Yesterday Lincoln was 1 week old! And he got weighed, and he has GAINED 110gms since birth! The MW kept saying "Now you know babies lose weight, do don't freak out.." but my little fatty has gained weight!!
:smiliedance::smiliedance::smiliedance::smiliedanc e:
Sorry to brag, but Im just so glad all those cluster feeds at god awful hours have amounted to something! Makes the booby pain worth it.
Glad to read that mummies are getting good night sleeps.
Mis - Big hugs hun. You've done a wonderful job getting this far and have made it further than alot of others. The most important thing is that both you and bub are happy.
Lucky DH hey;)
Lilahh - congrats on that fantastic weight gain! Well done! Alliira settled into her own kind of feeding routine from about day 5. BUT I refuse to get too comfy, because I know just how quickly thigns can change! See my night last night below (even though it wasn't THAT bad of a night, it was for Allira comapred to normal).
A friend of mine had a baby girl yesterday which is a little exciting. She called Her lily Katherine. I'm so glad Allira will have someone she will know around her age to grow with... Poor Lachie though ( DS), he has noone.
I went to drive into town today, and bugger me, I got a flat. Fricking typical... new car gets a flat. LOL SO I had to drive it home as slowly as possible (I live in the middle of nowhere on a dirt road), and get into range for my mobile to work ( which was me getting out of the car and holding it in the air) to call Hubs. He's driven home and is changing it over right now, but grrr... Now I won't get into town until lunch time. I was ready to leave at 9am :(
To top that off, Allira didn't sleep as well as she has last night, which I shouldn't complain about, but I'm sure it was the start of my problems today. LOL
She had 2 feeds in 2 hours last night which is unheard of for her before going to bed at 10, she woke at 4am so I fed her, then she wouldn't go to sleep. Finally got her to sleep at about 5.15am and she woke at 6am wanting another feed. I was not a happy camper because I had to be up at 6.30 to start getting ready to head out (which in the end, I really didn't need to after all). SO i fed her again and went back to bed for as long as I could. I feel alright, I did get about 5.5 hours striaght sleep in there, but she had lulled me into a false sense of security I think.... hehe.
See how tonight goes. I have to go into town again tomorrow.
have a great day all!! Once I finally get into town, I think I'll be a bit happier. ( although it's an hour drive each way... Lucky I have a spunky new car that I like driving!).
Yey for the new car Herchy! We need a new one but just cannot afford it atm... We bought a gorgeous little Holden Cruze last year which was perfect for me and Hubby, and the greyhound...but now with bub as well... it's way too small! We'll manage for now but I'd love a station wagon!
Lilaah - Fab news on the weight gain!
MIS - Bug hugs... you certainly persevered where others would have given up... but there comes a time. It sounds like bub is still happy and contented though so pat yourself on the back!
AFM - I ordered a book which arrived yesterday, called 'The Wonder Weeks'. It' beasically describes the different phases a baby goes through in their first year and the 'leaps' they make at certain stages of development. And how these can cause massive disruption to normal sleeping and eating patterns. They do go back to normal after they've had their Wonder Week. But it's all to do with, not physical, but their mental development and what's going on for them.
They have these 'leaps' at weeks 5, 8, 12, 15, 23, 34, 42 and 51. These weeks actually correspond to the age they 'should be' if they arrived on time. So if your bub was late arriving they'd have these weeks earlier, and if bub was premmie they'd have these weeks later.
It also gives you things to do with bub when they've taken one of these leaps to help advance the skills they're learning at that stage. It's also very comforting to know you're not going mad!
If you google '4 month sleep regression' you'll find info on this. It's fascinating!
Hey all
We are having a shocker here this arvo. Zane is just not happy at all poor little mite. Can't get him to sleep and he is waaaaay overtired so joy joy fun fun NOT! Olivia is also chucking tantrums every five minutes as she exhausted herself at Kindygym this morning so I have them both screaming at me and all I wanna do is scream back. Arrrgghhhh! So thats my scream.
Sorry rant over. Looking forward to a better day tomorrow. :D
Hope you are all having a way way better day than me.
Herchy - what kind of car did you end up getting? So jealous!
MIS - aw hope you feel better soon.
Sorry lots more but they have both started again :hair:
OMG the gods must have been seeing my online rant as all I can hear now is my own ears ringing from all the noise! Zane finally just gave in and is fast asleep and Hi 5 just started so Olivia is fascinated. I probably sound like a terrible mother but its days like these I love TV :o
Anyhoo back to personals.
Ushas - I agree with Herchy, you definately sound like you have your sh!t together. That book does sound fascinating!
Heidilee - Also jealous here of those long sleeps. We were getting about 5 hours in one stretch but the last few days have dropped back to four and then every two hours after. Not so great but meh, it happens.
:crying: he is awake again. See ya tomorrow when hopefully some joyous sleep is had
KyKy - I've been feeling the same way with Kian this arvo. I'm absolutely whacked because he had a very unsettled night. From about 1.30 on he kept waking (therefore waking me, thinking he wanted a feed) then settling himself back to sleep for a while. So I slept in about half hour chunks last night. I had hoped he might give me a chance to snooze today but nope!
Have just managed to get him off to sleep (for how long, who knows) by wrapping him very tightly and stroking his head and giving him his dummy. Maybe I can get tea started now! Or not as I can now hear him again! Ah no he's gone quiet again...yey! I'm using a lot of telepathy today...sending him a 'go to sleep' message over and over again!
I am having a glass of wine!!!

HeidiLee - Thats great you are getting some sleep, so jealous wish i wasnt a night owl, doesnt matter how tired i am i cant sleep before 9:30pm, this morning i woke at 4am and havent been back to sleep since and its now 10:30pm. Maybe i need to burn lavender oil lol.
MumsieMel - Great news about the weight gain
Ushas - Is Kian feeling any better then he did yesterday morning? Hope he sleeps good for you tonight
MIS - I am going through the same thing at the moment, i'm trying hard to get Lucas on the breast full time again but my milk is drying up and its so hard trying to build it back up again, i've been in tears alot cause i really want to breast feed. I am annoyed at everyone that told me to take him off the breast because apparently i didnt have enough milk and he wasnt getting enough and he was hungry, oh and get this my milk was making him sick, just what i wanted to hear, what would they know. I had plenty of milk, he was getting enough, he wasnt hungry and it wasnt making him sick but in the end i got the ****s and gave up feeding for a couple of weeks because i was sick of them saying the same thing over and over to me.
Herchy - Sounds like you are having some bad luck, hope it gets better. Hope Allira behaves tonight and lets you sleep
KyKy - Sounds like you are having just as much fun as me, lucas hates sleeping through the day now, he sleeps 10 mins here and there but thats about it. We also have lots of crying.

Goodmorning all
Hope you all had a good nights sleep and bubs are behaving today.
I didnt sleep much at all last night, decided to get out of bed at 4:15 this morning, my eyes are hanging out of my head lol
Lucas so far is behaving today, he is asleep at the moment but think he will be waking up soon cause i can hear noises from him
I took Lucas to the clinic yesterday, he last went when he was 10 days old so four weeks ago and he has put on exactly 1 kilo, grown 2.5cm longer and his head is 2cm bigger. He is growing really well despite all his vomiting and lack of feeding, i actually thought he may have lost weight or not put on very much at all.
Hope everyone has a good day
xx
Morning all,
Hope everyone is getting some sleep. Am just online while my little girl sleeps for a bit.
To anyone who was b/fing or comp. feeding how did you get your head around the idea of not b/fing anymore. I have a beautiful little girl who is doing well but i can't stop thinking bout needing an assisted delivery and then not being able to breastfeed. I know this is nuts as she is doing well but i can't help it.
To those who commented about the s26 formula causing constipation try giving a few sips of water(cooled, boiled of course:)) before the formula...just for a few feeds (with a gap in between).
Ciao

Lingo - I'm not sure I have got my head around it yet. I think when you really want to do it and for whatever reasons it doesn't happen, it just takes time to get your head around it. I'm slowly feeling better about it but get the odd attack of "if only". I thought I was happy with the whole thing on Monday and then yesterday at Ned's 6 week check with the Dr he said he could prescribe me a pill to bring my milk supply back. So that threw me right back to the start again. I said no because I can't stand seeing Ned scream at me every time I try but it set me back a bit in feeling like I had tried everything.
Everyone - The only other thing that has helped me is the beautiful May mums. I met some of my best friends at mums group when I had my first baby and I feel like I have done the same online this time. Such a shame we can't all get together for coffee :)
EM - he seems fine within himself but he isn't pooing like he should! Didn't do one yesterday and just has a small solid looking lot this morning. Buit as hubby says he didn't have much to eat over the last couple of days due to vomiting it up and stuff, so maybe that's what it is. He is however, downing his milk with no problems once again!
We're not really getting in mkuch sleep during the day now, but he generally still sleeps well at night.

Hi everyone... I will do personals a bit later! We have had a shocking night and day today. Lucas is having really bad reflux and vomits all his formula up... he woke up this morning at 2:30am and has only just now fallen asleep. He's constantly been hungry but cant keep any of it down. Had their 6 weeks checkup this morning and was given a script for something that apparently should settle his stomach but cant go down and get it as i cant bring both of them out as Maddison has a bad cold and ots freezing and i have no one to watch them for me... My mum will be here later and then i can go but i just feel so bad... i cant do anything to make him feel better and its tearing at my heart!
On a better note had them weighed at their appointment this morning and Maddison had now hit the 4Kilo mark which is fantastic and Lucas has hit the 3.5Kilo mark!!
Hope this all made sense and hope everyone else is going well... :-)
Oh M2T - Poor Lucas! Fab news on the weight gain though!

Thx I guess i am just sick of feeling like a failure when it is obviously irrational. I guess the labour experience started it all.
I was put on medication to increase milk supply but even it didn't help.
Does anyone know how long it takes before u stop producing milk after stopping b/fing?
Hi all
Wow - you guys have been very busy with the chatting, so many pages to catch up on. I'll try and keep up from now on.
Things seem to be going well with Joshua so far. I had some supply issues late last week but that seems to have improved and I don't need to top him up anymore, which is a relief. I was quite surprised at how heartbroken I felt at the thought of not being able to continue BF.
He is having the occasional vomit after or during a feed and I also think he is a little unsettled now and again with wind/belly ache. We got some infants friend today and that seems to have helped him settle straight away on his own without us needing to help him. Fingers crossed it's not just a coincidence.
As for his sleeps, at night we have one nice 6 hour stretch which has been happening for nearly a week now which is fantastic.
So he's doing great really, I can't really complain at all I don't think. Although I do have what is apparently quite a bladder infection, which includes some blood too along with some pain. At the moment I'm looking forward to everything down there going back to normal soon so I can concentrate on bubs and other things.
Sorry for it just being all about me today and no personals, I will endeavour to keep up with the talk in here now and look forward to chatting to you all!! :)
OH wow! A bit to catch up on...
EM - yay for the weight gain! That's fab! Allira is a spewy baby, just like my little Lachie was. It's amazing the amount they can bring up and STILL put on weight.
Lingo - all the best hun. I comp fed a little with DS but was lucky enough to be able to re-establish full Breastfeeding, so I don't know exactly how you guys feel, but I really admire you and any others who have tried your hardest, but after it not working, have gone on to another way that does work. I hope that you can overcome those feelings of failure (you are in NO WAY a failure!) and remember what a fantastic job you did to grow your little girl and bring into this big wide world. You are a fantastic mummy! I'm not exactly sure how long it takes to dry up. You can go to your GP and get a specific tablet that can dry up milk quickly.
MM - yay for the big sleeps! They are fantastic aren't they?!
MIS - I'm still waiting for you to board the plane over here!! This group of mums ( and any others who aren't in here that I have had a fab pregnancy journey with) are fantastic! I am really glad to be a part of such an awesome bunch of mummies. I have been a part of a few groups (or at least tried to) and because of my warped sense of humour and wacked out nature, I don't seem to fit. I feel like I do here. I really hope we can all stay close a the kiddies grow up. I love having people with children the same age as mine to talk to about things. I feel it really makes things alot easier.
Have some more hugs :hugs:
Ushas - glad oto hear the little guy is giving you plenty of sleep at night. Nighttime is the worst... if you can get a decent night out of the kids, I think it makes it so much easier to deal with any of the crazy stuff during the day.
M2twins - :yelclap: What can I say. You are a champion. Having 2 to looka fter at once... WOW! I am in awe. What awesome weight gains for the bubs! Sorry to hear the little man is having reflux issues. I hope whatever he was prescribed works, and boo to the colds going around. As if these little ones need any of that at their age.
Kimmie - yay for the sleeps! We seem to have quite a few good sleepers here... which one is going to regress first....:detective: Probably mine. LOL
Ouchies re tha bladder infection!! I hope that clears up for you soon!
Hi everyone else! That's as far back as I can go.
We went to playgroup today. Allira was doted upon by the other mummies... but she slept like a log through it. She seems to have an extra feed just before bed lately. I think it will continue as I think she is trying to build my supply. Hopefully it works. She's had shorter sleeping intervals the last 3 nights, but she's still getting at least 4 hours at a time... normally 5.
We've been out and about all day for the last 2 days, so hopefully that doesn't unsettle her too much. We'll be home for the next 2 and then out again on Saturday to show her off to all of our friends who are yet to meet her. That's about it. It's freezing, so I'm about to take the little girl to bed. Lachie's already asleep and I hope he stays that way until at least 8am... we'll see.

Hey mummies, what are the symptoms of nipple thrush? Im still getting quite painful let down when baby latches, even with expressing first. It gets better as DS sucks but BF is still not exactly pleasant. DS has no spots in his mouth.. so I don't think its thrush. But can BF really be this painful?? My nipples must need to toughen up. All the cracking has healed now they are just tender and sore when he latches and uncomfy throughout the feed.
How long did it take for everyone who is BF to toughen up their nipples? Its only been 10 days since DS was born... but I just never knew BF was so painful. Im using lansinoh after every feed and massaging during feeding but my nipples are just sore. :(
Feeling a bit low after a grizzly night with DS, he was awake from 10pm-3am which was not fun and then did his usual 2 hourly feeds till 10am. :crying:
Lingo and MIS: I hope you feel better soon and are comfortable with what has happened. After BFing for only 10 days, Im already struggling, especially at night. I think you girls are great for trying so hard and shouldnt be hard on yourselves!! :hugs:
Kimmie:  Hope your bladder infection clears up! Glad you are getting a good nights sleep.
Hi everyone else! Hope you are doing well.
lilahh- my nipples went really itchy, and cassies tongue was cover in white, more than usual, i suggest going to the drs and gettin them to check bubs and u out, cassie was really unsettled the day b4 i discovered we had thrush, good luck!!! and my nipples took about 2 weeks b4 it wasnt too painful still hurts to attach but gets better!
BF is painful. I refuse to tell anyone that it's not. It is more likely niplpe stretching pain you experience... I still get it and I've been going for over 5 weeks ( but it is alot less painful now than it was at 10 days). The good news is, it does dull down and eventually, you can barely feel anything. You are doing a great job Lilahh!!!
Hi girls! Quiet day today. Hope you are all going well.
Had a rough morning with my pair. Allira was cranky for a good hour for the first time, and Lachie was cranky at the same time. I was told I had to put the wiggles on and when I didn't all hell broke loose! haha
Once they both went to bed, I was able to get a few things done and chill out. It's been a better afternoon, thankfully.
Hope all are well and the kids are behaving :)

Hi everyone!! Hope everyone is well!
We have had a shocker of a day today.. the twins have been in the worst crankiest mood today at the same time and havent slept a wink as of yet... hopefully they will have a fantasics nights sleep!! well fingers crossed anyway :-)
mummy2twins, big :hugs: for ya. Double joy but double trouble hey. Sounds like you are doing a fantastic job with two bubbahs! Hope it got better.
Lilahh - breastfeeding blardy hurts. Both times for me the pain had gone by about 6 weeks. Typically though I had got through all the pain this time and stopped breastfeeding . It does get better just takes a little time, promise!!!
Herchy: No-one told me it was going to be painful... Im definitely going to tell all my friends who are first timers when they are pregnant! I spent my pregnancy thinking labour was going to be bad and that was it... not true. But, everyone who has BF and stuck it out keeps saying "it gets better" and they are right, its definitely better now then it was at 3 days, so Im just trying to make it through each feed, and each day. Hope your little ones settle well for the evening.
Lozie: My nipples definitely aren't itchy. Just tingly when my boobs are full, but not itchy, and painful stinging when latching and then it dulls down as the feed goes on. I rang the chemist and asked about thrush symptoms and the chemist said it didn't sound like thrush, but that I could get him checked if I was concerned... I showed my mum as well and she doesn't think its thrush. DS is also very settled and peaceful during the daytime, his feral time is at night. Im pretty sure the pain is just from being chewed on and Im not used to it... I kinda wish it was thrush just so I could treat it to go away! Glad to hear your thrush is clearing up... are your nipples still sore when BF? Im hanging out for the 2 week mark, only 4 more days. :D I hear the 2 week mark is pretty standard for nipple improvement.
Wow, what a :ecomcity:! Who knew you could talk so much about nipples.
M2T: Hope your little ones settle tonight so you can
I'm FREE!!!!
Just had my six week Gynae appt to check on the stitches and she was happy with most things. So I can get my life back now... planning a shopping trip already! Kmart have some super cute onesies on sale so I'm going to have a look at some for Kian as he's growing so fast.
Lilaah - it sounds to me like you are doing an awesome job! Well done you for persevering with the BF.
M2T - Has someone sent you your 'Supermum' cape yet? I do not know how you do it!
Kian has seemingly recovered from his poorly tummy. He's done two much more normal poos (yippee). Whoever thought I'd get excited over yellow poo! He has slept a lot of today too. Giving me some peace and quiet during the day which we've not had for a little while.
He's getting really interesting now and starting to 'chat' with us and play more. He's so cute! Even if I do say so myself.

Lingo - I am not liking not breastfeeding and im kicking myself for getting the poo's and giving up just because everyone told me too. If it was my decision to give up without anyones influence i think i'd probably be coping a bit better.
Mumsiemel - How is Landen going, poor lil things are too young to be getting a cold hey, thank god Lucas is just about over his cold.
MIS - It sure is a shame we cant all get together for a coffee.

Ushas - Lucas isnt pooing properly either, i was told when they have a growth spurt they will get a bit constipated, dont know how true that is.
Lucas is the same he hardly sleeps through the day now but sleeps 8 hours at night its just the wrong 8 hours lol, he sleeps from about 7:30 till 8:30
Lucas and Kian sound very similar in the way they behave lol
M2T - How is Lucas and Madison doing now?
Herchy - Sure is amazing how much weight they still put on. How's things with you?

Ok thats my personals done - i think
How are you all? Hope all the bubs are behaving themselves and the mums are getting plenty of rest.
Lucas has been sooky all day but has been screaming in pain for the last 5 hours and has only just gone to sleep he is a bit constipated possibly from the soy formula, man i wish i could just get into the paed so he can get neocate or elecare, i have to wait until the 27th of July for the appointment, the poor bugger cant tolerate normal formula and looks like he isnt taking to soy either, my dd was exactly t he same and she ended up on neocate..... what am i supposed to do let him starve. The dr's know he has a possible milk protein allergy grrrrrrrrrrr
We are off to see the GP tomorrow for our 6 week check so i might get her to try and hurry the paed along
Well my whinge is done.......sorry bout that
Hope everyone is having a good night
lilahh- it still stings a bit to attach her but within a min its better, i attach her and count to 10... slowly, if its no better i take her off and try again. when ppl ask me how labour was, i say id labour 100 times over b4 every having to breastfeed the 1st 2 weeks again! they worst thing is in the hospital they made me watch a dvd, cant think what its called, all it kept saying was breastfeeding is natural and doesnt hurt, i was in tears by the end going its not fing natural and it hurts like a b*tch! i really hope it starts getting better for you! im happy i decided to stick to it!
I'm impressed with my little man...
He slept a lot yesterday, back to what he was like before deciding he was going to stay up and only catnap during the day. But Hubby fed him at midnight and he stayed asleep till 5.30 this morning! Yey!
Ok brag over!

Hope lucas can see the paed sooner, thats ridiculous!!!

arent big sleeps great!!
M2T
Hope your day got better and today is a good one for you!
LILAHH
i agree BF can be hard and hurt, but it is natural, just not as easy as everyone thinks
HERCHY
Hope you too have a better day today!
Well yesturday Landen got up at 9 for a feed then back to bed at 10, stirred at 11, but then slept till 230pm! He's a cleever little munchkin sleeping off his snuffy nose :bee:
Im sooo happy with him, he is such a joy, i can really enjoy everything with him.
Im more relaxed than with any of my others when they were little.
Its really lovely! :cloud9:
My only prob atm is my DS X has a chip on his shoulder with attitude to boot!
I feel like all i do is yell at him, i dont want to, but his behaviour just isnt acceptable atm. :hair:
Herchy - yes, the sleeps are fantastic. I hope he can keep it up but I'm bracing myself in case it changes. lol He had over 7 hours last night, couldn't believe it when I woke up and realised what time it was.
Lilahh - my nipples are still sore. I've luckily avoided cracking etc but they are tender all the time and hurt like hell when he initially latches on but that goes away after a second or two. Hope it improves for you soon. Sorry to hear you had a bad night the other night, hope last night was better for you.
mummy2twins - so hope your little ones had a great nights sleep and gave you some much needed rest!
Ushas - yay to being free. And how cute that he's starting to interact with you more now. Can't wait for Josh to start interacting more with us.
EM - sorry to hear Lucas isn't doing well with the formula. It must be terrible to watch him in so much pain. Hopefully your GP can help you see your paed sooner!
MumsieMel - glad to hear Landen is getting over that cold.
Well, Joshua is 2 weeks old today! Off to the doctor for his check up. He's doing really well. Sleeping like a trooper and doing all the right things. When does it all turn to hell?? LOL. I'm waiting for it! This morning, after his marathon sleeping effort, he fed like a mad man and ended up throwing most of it back up. He didn't seem too worried about it, so I'm guessing it's ok? He had a little nap afterwards and has just fed again and is asleep yet again. How much awake time should they be having at this age?
I'm slowly getting there, doctor called and swapped my antibiotics yesterday to others that should fix my bladder infection a little quicker than what I was on. Hope it gets better soon, it's quite uncomfortable.
Hi there everyone
lillah ~ It does hurt like crazy to begin with. I also found it hurt like crazy when DD 1st latched on for the 1st few weeks. I got some lansinoh cream & slathered it onto my nipples for relief. It's safe to use while BF. It really does get better i promise.
M2T ~ I hope the twins are more settled for you today.
Ushas ~ Sorry to hear your DS hasn't been too well.
EM ~ Sorry to hear your DS is still having troubles from the formula.
Kimmie ~ Lets hope the new AB do the trick & clear it up for you.
Evening all,
Kimmie - things may not change with the good sleeps lol:fingerscrossed:. Unfortunately for me they did. DD slep an average of 3 1/2 hrs from birth, lately she has been really hard to settle and awake after really short amounts of time. She's also always hungry.
Everyone - thank for the support re-b/fing. It was my choice to stop in the sense that all the 'tricks/tips' weren't working..nor medication. I guess that given my personality and job I'm used to having some control and getting used to the idea that i'm not a failure and I did try everything is just gonna take some time to get over/get my head around. I just hope it happens sooner rather than later.
Enough of my rant. Thx all.
Ciao Lingo
Kimmie - According to Babybliss by Jo Ryan they shouldn't be awake any longer than an hour at a time or they get overtired and then have difficulty sleeping. Having said that though, Kian was sleeping heaps initially but not so much now. He's generally ok for between and hour and an hour and half before he is obviously cranky and tired. But it can take a while to convince him that he's tired and needs to sleep! Lol! Enjoy the lovely long sleeps, and fingers crossed Joshua decides to keep doing it for you!
Well I got all excited about being free and we went shopping today. Kian is growing at a rate of knots and is running out of clothes that fit! So we went to Kmart today as they had some cute long sleeved bodysuits and t-shirts for $3 and some long rompers for $5. Then I popped into Best & Less and they had long sleeved body suits for $2.49... So Kian ended up wioth loads of new clothes and a new toy! A very successful trip I felt! Mind you I had to speak to a crying boy and explain that shopping is mummy's favourite pastime, so he'd better get used to it until he starts school! Heheheh...
Ushas - Glad you had a good day out shopping. Sounds like you found some bargains! When I go shopping, I normally have a crying boy too, but he doesn't go to school - he works and is 35! LOL
Well last night it took him ages to go to sleep. Not sure if it was wind or something, but he would be settled well enough in my arms but then play up as soon as I put him to bed. He was up for a little under 4 hours all up and it was hard work getting him down. Hope this doesn't become part of his routine.
Morning girls!
Hope you are all well!
We scored another fab night last night which was good.
We're going into town today to visit some friends, Hubs is going to race go karts, and then I'll take the kids to my parents for a while.
I really don't have much to report... everything is same old here.
Anyway, better run and have a shower while I've got the chance.
Talk to you all soon.

Hi all
:hugs: to those who are having issues and hugs to those who are not....
we are blessed to be getting sleep between 900pm and 330am on average. Loving it. Our big concern right now is that Nathaniel is vomiting more and more aggressively. He covered himself and me the other day. It was like an atomic bomb spewing from his mouth then last night he was sleeping and he began to choke and his body was shaking from it... Nothing came out but it freaked me out no end. wondering if he has reflux.
so i am going to book into the GPs to get him checked.... My milk seems to be drying up too which is making me sad..... my boobs are all soft and bub is starving still after he has fed from them.. so we are combined feeding with thickened formula for one feed a day and I am hopinh that if I keep putting him on to latch all will fill up again.
Good luck AOM - I hope you get some relief for Nathaniel. Poor bub. Kian had a really dodgy tummy earlier this week and vomited up everything. He got me a beauty a couple of times. But he got over it in a couple of days and I just made sure I was giving him some water (pre-boiled) in order to keep him hydrated. Good luck with your BF too. I hope it works!
Kimmie - Kian does the same thing...he will be fast asleep then as soon as you approach the cot - PING! Eyes wide open...I find that making sure he's wrapped tightly (so his hands can't escape cause he hits himself and keeps himself awake) he sleeps much better, and stroking his head once I've put him down in his cot till he is relaxed and eyes closed. And I sometimes use a dummy to help settle him although he doesn't always use it and he spits it out as soon as he's ready to go to sleep. He also seems to like me shhhhing him. Finds the sound relaxing I guess. Anyway, good luck with your little man!

Hi everyone... sorry i havent had time to do personals lately and today will be another short one!!
The other night after my twins had been awake all day they finally got to sleep at 9:30pm and slept til 8am which was great! I kept waking up making sure they were ok!!
My twins really dont like sleeping during the day... yesterday they were fully awake from 8am til 3pm then had an hour sleep and then were awake again until 7pm and then finally settled for the night!! Today Lucas has had a few naps as hes been totally exhausted but once again Maddison has been awake for most of the day... shes been such a smiley girl today but always starts sooking once ive picked up Lucas for a cuddle!!!
Anyway i have to go feed them and hopefully then they will settle for the night!! :-)
xoxoxo
AOM - Joshua did that to me yesterday, it was like a volcano. He seemed fine about it though, didn't even batt an eyelid. He also does a little of the choking thing too now and again, and that does freak me out. Hope the doctor can offer some advice for you, and also hope the BF works out for you too.
Ushas - I wrap him up pretty tight but he's like houdini! He still manages to get an arm out somehow. I seem to have to cuddle him until he's completely out to it and then I can put him down. He had an unsettled day today, couldn't get him to settle at all. I'm wondering if it's because I was feeding him football hold style but switched to chest to chest yesterday on the advice of the nurse? I'm wondering if he's getting more air the chest to chest way, as I fed him the old way about an hour ago and he's out cold straight away, as he had been doing previously. Perhaps I'll stick to that way as long as my arms can do it.
Joshua likes the shhhing too, the nurse in the hospital said it's because it reminds them of the sounds when they are inside you. Not sure if that's true or not.
Tonight we have moved Joshua's bassinet into his room from ours so he won't be next to me anymore. :crying: DF returns to work the early shift on Monday morning, so we thought it would work better if he was in his own room so they aren't waking each other up. I know it's probably for the best, but it breaks my heart. I love having him right next to me at night so I can keep an ear out for every little sound etc. Crazy I'm sure, but I can't help it. He's in there now for a sleep and it breaks my heart. :( Sorry for the sook!
Kimmie I completely understand... I didn't sleep for the first couple of nights home from hospital because I was so used to listening to his little snuffling noises and things, that when he went into his room and I couldn't hear them I felt really unsettled! But having the monitor helps... We don't have it in our room, but I can hear it from our bedroom. It is hard at first though!
We have a houdini too. Last night he was really unsettled all night, tossing and turning, but not waking up enough for me to go to him. When I did go to get him at 5.30am for his feed he was halfway up the cot completely free of wrap and blanket! Just lying there in the middle of his cot as if he'd just been plonked there! Little ratbag!
Hi everyone, just thought i'd let you all know that Newidea t.v will be focusing on sleeping all next week.
They'll be having a segment on getting babies to sleep each day.
I thought this might be of some use.
Ushas, that's how I felt. Also a little lost too not having him right there. He was fine though, slept from 11pm right through to 7am. We've also got a monitor, which definitely helps. Don't think I would have let him move to his own room if we didn't have one!
Joshua hasn't quite got to that stage yet, only his hands really. You wonder how they find the time to sleep with all the wriggling they must be doing.
We are starting to think that Joshua might be suffering a little from reflux. Not too severe at the moment but he's been grimacing, screaming and crying like he's in a lot of pain after his feeds, lots of arching his back and some spit up but not all the time. He's also getting a lot of hiccups too. Initially we thought it might be wind. We ended up getting some gaviscon infant today to try and it has seemed to have helped a little. Fingers crossed, if it is reflux, it doesn't get any worse.

EM
His still a bit snuffy but getting there, he eems to be sleeping it off, having big sleeps the last 2 days.
Hope lucas can see the paed sooner, thats ridiculous!!!
USHAS
arent big sleeps great!!
:hair:
Glad Landen is getting better, i'm still having no luck getting Lucas into the Paed any earlier, sure is ridiculous. He has an appointment to see a paed at the paediatric emergency clinic at our local public hosp on the 29th but thats only because Lucas was in hospital 2 weeks ago, the paed probably wont prescribe neocate or anything else cause he's not our normal paed.

Kimmie - sure is terrible to watch him in so much pain
AOM - Sounds like it could be reflux but be careful cause there is a condition called pyloric stenosis that causes reflux like vomiting, its mostly in male babies and for some reason its usually your first born male (but not always) not a common condition but still need to be aware of it. I had Lucas at the hospital almost 2 weeks ago as he was constantly crying and vomiting, they tested him for it by doing blood tests and an ultrasound. Looks like he doesnt have it thank god as it requires an op to fix it. Here is a link with some info about it
http://kidshealth.org/parent/medical/digestive/pyloric_stenosis.html#
Good luck
Hiya mummas and bubs,
I can't believe my little one is 4 weeks old this evening:wave:.
I have my appt. with the OB tomorrow morning. (he's going on holidays so I thought a bit earlier rather than later with the appt.)
How long did it take people to get their birth certificates and baby bonus stuff sorted?
Back later time for some lunch before she wakes up.
Ciao Lingo
hi lingo!
I got BB the week after I put in for it, but because I already got FTB, I was already on the system, so easier to process.
it took 5 weeks to get Allira's standard birth cert. The other one we paid for is still coming.
Hi everyone! All going well here, nothing new to report really. Have my 6 week check up on weds... not really any point to it except the whole contraception issue.
Speaking of, What is everyone doing in regards to contraception?
I have no idea what to do. We are pretty certain that we aren't having anymore kids. DH wants to get the chop, but I'm not 100% on him doing it just yet... just in case. I'm about 99% sure I'd like him to get it done.
We are both still young. pretty sure we don't want anymore kids. A midwife told me that she doesn't think the minipill will be enough, and that I would need the full pill, but I'm BFING and I didn't think I could take it whilst BFing.
I have heard good and bad about mirena.... Not sure I want to take that road.
Not interested in the thing in my arm. Ouch.
And I don't know anyone whose has the injections.
What are you all thinking? Is there anyone else who is not planning on anymore kids? What are you going to do?
That's the only thing I worry about at the moment. Allira is still going just as well as normal, although a couple of times she's woken an hour earlier overnight, but I think she's having a growth spurt. She cannot fit in 0000 at all, and fits in 000 easily now. Getting so big already :(
Anyway, hope you are all well. DS is about to wake up and demand lunch, and I am going out to an exercise class tonight so I need to try and start making lasagne for the boys dinner (and also see if I can pump a bit of Milk for Allira Just in case... I haven't done it yet for her).
Have fun!

Hi ladies:wave: Sorry its been a while since my last reply..I have been keeping up with everyones posts but have been struggling recently and not sure what to write.
Lingo it took about 10 days for my birth certificate to get posted to me which I thought was pretty good. The baby bonus took about 2 weeks to get sorted.
Well not sure whether to post whats been happening with me as I dont like being pitiful but I am not coping at the moment.Trinity is 5 weeks tomorrow and at her 4 week checkup she put on 629gms in 2 weeks and 3cms which is really good because she was a small bubba and is catching up weight wise :) She in general has been feeding really well but lately she has been having wind problems. I have been using infants friend and thats helping a little bit, then she stays awake with the wind and by the time shes about to go to sleep she wants a top up feed :( Shes been staying awake alot too just recently..and being very grumpy. I feel like the worlds biggest b$tch I have been snapping at bubs when she cries and hubby and even the dog. I feel so guilty for snapping at trinity..Some days I feel so crap that all i want to do is just get in the car and drive off, are these feelings just from the sleep deprivation? I got tested for pnd but aparently I dont have it..
I cant seem to sleep during the day when she goes to sleep either which sucks. I just feel so demanded on by bubs and everything else..My mum says I should put her into her nursery but it would break my heart because I am used to her being next to me in her cradle. Hubby said he wouldnt be able to sleep either because hes used to checking up on her. Now I feel bad for ranting so much but I really need to talk to someone...

Lingo - I am in NSW and it took 9 weeks to get the regular and commemerative certificate (they come out together) - I only got them Friday last week. The wait on the website now says 11 weeks. Baby bonus was only a week but I submitted it all online so I dont know if that makes a difference.
We have been getting 7-8 hour stretches at night without a feed for over a week now so am feeling pretty good :) Day sleeps are pretty much non existant now though!
Herchy - I have gone back on the pill but am having all sorts of problems spotting all over the place. I said to my husband if we werent having anymore (this was our first) he would he having the chop haha.
Hope everyone is doing well.
Hey Greeneyes, You just described exactly how I felt after I had my DD. Sleep deprivation is a form of torture in some countries! My DD didn't sleep more than an hour in a row until she was about four months when we had to go to a sleep school because I was on the brink of losing my mind.
I knew I wasn't depressed but I was very very stressed. Best advice I got at the time was try and take some time out. Even if its just an hour to go out by yourself and enlist your mum or other close people to give you a break. It will save your sanity until things settle down a bit. Gotta say it sounds like you are doing a great job because you care and you are seeking help by talking to us too and she is doing fantastic! :hugs: and try not to be so hard on yourself.
Also another thing that is easier said than done is don't take everyones well meaning advice, trust your gut its usually right. Your mum means well but its up to you and hubby.
 everyone.
Herchy - re Contraception...well none at the moment cos I am so friggin tired we ain't doing it :p Sleep is waaaaaayyy more important. I have told DH he either has to get the chop or its condoms for the rest of his life as I HATE the pill. Have fun at your class tonight!
Heidilee - I am so happy for you getting long sleeps but I am greeeeeeen with envy. In the last few days I have two waking through the night. Fantastic...NOT
Anyhoo we are doing pretty good. My infection has finally cleared up. Today hubby and I have swapped our bed over for the one in the spare room as ours squeeked soooo loud that Zane has been stirring during the night in between feeds and sometimes waking. So will see if it helps. If not I am happy anyway as this bed is more comfy :D.
I am off to have lunch with my galpals tomorrow. I am so looking forward to it.

Well got a date today for DS X to have his tonils and adnoids removed! :yelclap: 14th of July, its great timing, its in school holidays, plus all the extra acitivities stop in the hols, so he wont miss anything. And my mum can watch the girls while im at the hosp with him
Landen is still stuffy, but he's still being such a good man!
Last night he slept from 630pm till 445am!!!!! :smiliedance: :goodvibes:
Lingo: I went into c/link today to get BB and FTB. I sent away for my birth certificate last week but don't think it will be here for another few months at least. I get my first c/link payments in a fortnight after submitting the applications today.
Herchy: Im going back on the pill and using condoms. I fell pregnant with DS using condoms, so Im totally sceptical of just using one form. I was on implanon a few years ago but I basically bled for 6 months on it so I got it taken it. Whereas my sister had it and she didn't get her period for 2 years and loved it.
greeneyes: :hugs::hugs: Sleep deprivation is awful. You are not a bad person at all for feeling exhausted and sick of it. I hope your little one settles into a better routine of sleeping for longer.. until then, hang in there. :hugs:
KyKy: Glad your infection cleared up! Hope your little ones give you a good nights sleep tonight.
Sounds like a lot of mums are getting loads of sleep  and some are getting none. :( Im somewhere in between, DS has good nights and bad nights. Longest he ever sleeps though is 4 hours in one stretch. Hoping that lengthens out as time goes on. He is only 2 weeks old! BB are feeling less chewed on, but BF is still a lot of work. Hoping the 6 week mark is the next milestone.
Hope everyone is doing well. :hugs:
I'm just gonna whisper, so K doesn't hear... but it's almost 7am and he's not up yet! And he didn't wake me during the night! Not sure what time his daddy fed him but he's being AWESOME!
Anyway, contraception - consists of 'Don't touch me! Look what happened last time!' Hahahaha:laughing: But I'll probably end up going back on the pill.
Need to put in my BB form today! It's all filled ready to go, just haven't done it yet. As for BC - took 5 days from lodging the forms. That was for standard and special one.
Hey Greeneyes - I hope things improve for you a bit. Would it be possible to get someone (mum or friend) to do a 'sleepover' so they can deal with night feeds and you can get a whole night's sleep? Maybe hubby could do a night over the weekend or something. There's nothing worse than feeling so tired you're snapping at everyone, and there's nothing so fabulous as waking up after a whole night's sleep. Are you BF? Can you express bottles for an overnighter?
:hugs:
Had our second weigh in today.... Lincoln has gained 500gms in 1 week!! Holy ****!!! The MW said in all her time she had never seen a baby with such huge weight gain in one week. My little porker. He is now 660gms over his birth weight at only 2 weeks old... and he was gigantic at birth anyway. My boob juice must be loaded with calories.. that and he fed every hour last night for 7 hours. :hair:
I just don't know how to settle him when he grizzles other than feed him. I want to avoid using a dummy while he is still so young. Feeding him and then cuddling him for 15mins buys me about an hour sleep during his cluster feeding time, which is anywhere from 9pm-4am, and could be the whole 7 hours or only 3 hours (11pm-2am). The rest of the day (4.30am-9pm) he has two 4-hour sleeps and the rest are 2-3 hour sleeps with no grizzling/crying, which Im happy with for a two week old. Its the cluster feeding that kicks my ***.
Are any other mummies dealing with a guzzler baby for several hours? Im lucky to get 40mins between feeds sometimes.
The MW said you can't overfeed a BF baby, so Im not worried about him getting fat. One of my nipples is totally healed and BF isn't painful on that side anymore THANK GOD, its still a little uncomfy but Im not sure if that will ever change. The other nipple is still quite cracked. I got the MW to check for thrush and she said nope, the pain is just from cracking. :(
Ushas: I am so, so, so jealous of you getting more then 3 hours sleep at once. Kian sounds like a dream baby. Wanna swap? :p

Well contraception here will be condoms until i stop bf, then i suppose ill go back on the pill.
LILAHH
Have you tried wrapping him and putting him in bed, then patty him in bed??
two cheeky smurfs
23-06-2009, 11:50
Lilahh- Wow on the weight gain... what does your little one weigh?
I dont have guzzler babies throught the night but i do during the day... my twins usually feed every 2hours during the day but at night they sleep from about 8pm til 5am which i love... i cant believe both of them are in sinc it saves my sanity!! Ive heard that some twins have totally different feeding times but mine are in sinc which i love!! My babies dont sleep at all during the day except from a 10min cap nap here and there!!
AFM- Im going to look at 3 bedroom houses to rent today as im planning on moving!! I didnt have the opportunity to do up a nursery for my little bubs as i had to have them in my room due to lack of rooms!! So i cant wait to do up their rooms!! Im so excited!!!
How is everyone else going?
im going back on the pill, well the mini pill,,, except i have a stupid question! do u have to wait til u have stopped bleeding? im not bleeding much just a little bit but i dont wanna start taking it if im not meant to!
Lillah- 500grams in a week! i thought cassie was doing well with her 670grams in just under 2 weeks!! wow you have fatty milk!! lol just like me!
Hi all!
Still going well her, except DS can't keep his hands off Allira so I've had to finally get the portacot out and ut her in it :( I feel guilty because DS looked upset when he realised he couldn't hug and kiss her anymore... and poor Allira, it's like she's caged up.
But it is for the good of both of them, because Allira won't get hurt and I won't be yelling at DS for hurting her anymore.
Poor little man, he just loves her so much, but is a little over enthusiastic with his love. He never intentionall hurts her, he just doesn't realise how heavy he is.
I feel guilty because they are both upset in some way or another, and now I feel like I am denying DS his hugs and kisses and like I'm having to cage DD up.
Ah, I think I'm just having one of those days.....
As for everything else, still wonderful. My exercise class last night was great. I'ma little sore today, but not as bad as I thought I would be. Not bad, considering using the steps I looked like a big wobbly flabby jelly thing. LOL hopefully this exercise can get me down a dress size... something near a size they manufactue would be good (okI might be over exaggerating slighlty..... I can still shop at Big W, LOL).
Anyway... more housework to do, which I can get done now that Allira is in safety. Joy (that was sarcastic).
Will be back soon.
Hahahah Lilaah - Not a chance! It's the first time he's done a stint like that overnight though!
Herchy - So glad you enjoyed your exercise class. I'm hoping to get back to Curves next week! Yey!
