ok a friend of mine is pregnant and her waters have broken. she went to the hospital and the hospital told her it was just thrush because her cervix is still closed but TBH i dont think so, she does have thrush but this is too bad and her pads smell sweet. this is her 3rd bub so she knows 'the' smell.
she is almost 33 weeks and personally i think she should be in hospital right now.
her legs are hurting
her bum is hurting
she is getting contractions but are only 20min apart (exactly 20 min apart)
and while on the phone to her just then we were talking for about 10min and she was getting gushes and it happened about 5 times in that 10 min.
pads are only lasting around 40min till soaked.

as i said, i think she should be in hospital simply because her other 2 children were born very quickly and she is not yet even 33 weeks.

hmmm.....yeah now back to the question:laughing:
can she have a bath ??

i told her to go to a really sweet hospital in the city somewhere and just walk in and say "whoops my waters have broken, i will just have to have bubs here" ;):p

Yeah.. I have never heard of a reason why not.

and I have done it, too. No disaster story there. :)

ETA: At 33 weeks, I'd be too worried to have a bath though.

at 33 weeks I wouldn't be.

if you were actually in labour and having the baby it shouldn't be a problem, but at 33 weeks they might stop the labour and then you have problems with infection.

I agree with you actually, she need to see someone. I don't understand why thrush would be soaking pads.

my waters broke at 34 weeks and after a few hours of gushing it lessens off, but only for a day or so and then it gushes again. it is as the waters build up again. so just because it stops soon, it doesn't mean that it wasn't waters.

yeah sam's mum she thinks so too but the hospital just said go home.

they actually started last night and have been going since then. while at the hospital (for a whole hour:rolleyes:) they checked her pad and then waited the hour and checked it again and there was 'some' colour to it and they said just thrush go home but EVERY other pad had been clear and since getting home they only last 40min...

i dont know, i really think she should be getting checked over. the hospital has given her a referral for an u/s tomorrow but she as very quick labours and 33 weeks is a little scary. both her other kiddies were born early and last bub she had to have the drip in to induce labor as her waters had broken but no contractions and bub started to get distressed.

her midwife (who is not on but was available via SMS and who's shift starts soon) rang the other midwife and after a discussion they decided that her waters had broken.
she should be at the hospital by now :D:D

oh and contractions had started getting slightly closer.

sam's mum, so yours did this for 3 weeks ? were you in labour ? they gave her the steroid injection not to long ago and are transferring her to a hospital that is better equipped for premies.
she has been having contractions on and off for a few weeks now and i have a gut feeling bub will be here soon.

nope, I didn't get contractions and never went into labour.

I shared a room with a few women that had to have the steroid shots though, and they said that they hurt. I am glad I didn't need them.

I ended up just staying in bed in hospital for three weeks and then having a cs at 37 weeks.

I hope that everything works out ok.

she is now wondering how long they can keep bub in after the waters have broken ?
am i right in guessing it has more to do with how bub is going and the contractions and what not ??
oh and thank you so much sam's mum for your help, helps to hear from someone who has been in a similar position :hugs:

i feel sorry for this lady i hate hospitals they make you feel like you have no idea what is going on. its our bodies and we know its so upsetting to know that they didnt listen to her i hope for her sake that her baby and herself are ok. i have never talked to either of you but please let us know how she goes
thanks
and good luck to your friend

the hospital here is crap to one doctor says one thing another doctor says something else
my cousin had her baby in the breech position and everything and then one doctor said we will turn it and then the other said no we wont baby can die from that its just ridiculous we put all this trust in them and they have no idea

With my DD2 I was overdue, my waters broke around 10pm I went into the hospital, the doctor told me to go home and see if labor started on it's own and gave me some antibiotics to stop infection. But he booked me in for the next day to be induced in case nothing had happend.
