Do you think its weird or inappropriate to have a baby shower with your second pregnancy?

I didnt have one for my babies, but the friend I am throwing one for will be about 35weeks at the party.

Nemosmum - I dont think its rude or inappropriate to have a shower for your second bub, seeing as by your sig you are having a girl this time! (congrats - girls are wonderful). This is my friend's second pregnancy too, but her first child is now 5, and this babe is the opposite to her first.

mine was at 37 weeks - probably a little late as I didn't feel 'organised' because I was waiting to see what gifts I would get before I went out and bought all the paraphenalia myself.

Can't remember who asked but yes baby showers are popular in Australia, all of my friends who have babies have had a shower:)

I'm having mine next month (i'll be 6 months) because me and my sister are having a joint one (she will be 8 months) i would have waited until i was about 8 months if i was having one by myself though.

My partner said to me the other day, We should just wait till after the baby shower to go and buy things like baby clothes and other essentials as we have no idea what people will bring at the shower. And I agreed, I hope this doesn’t seem too rude, They’re all close friends and family who have already spoiled us enough with little baby outfits we really don’t need to buy anything more or extra if someones already bought it for us :p

I will be having my shower around 36-37 week point as well. :)
Really doesn't bother me about how far along i will be because i know its probably the only time i will be able, and be wanting to have it. Plus i have to wait for a very special family member to arrive from over sea’s in order to be there, and that’s the only time she could get her ticket booked.
Originally my partner and I wanted to throw a joint BBQ/BABYSHOWER
So he could be there as well but have the men their to do their manly bbq style stuff while the women cry over cute little baby outfits. Lol
But the list was to large. And by large i mean well and truly over 100.
So we decided it will just be a ladies event. So my Mum, My partners mum and i sat down and wrote down a list of our close family members/friends and it was 70 ladies! And then we tried to cut it down and realised how many of our friends would be offended if we didn't invite them. And if we had a small gathering of 20 ladies then we'd feel worse. So we've left it at 70, I'm glad my Parent's have a big house otherwise we'd have to resort to renting out a venue to hold the shower! That could get expensive...

I was around 8 months. I hadn't planned one at all, but one day my best friend took me out to lunch and when we arrived...there was a big table full of friends, family and colleagues - it was a really lovely surprise! :)

My baby shower was held at 39 weeks and 4 days.. Hmmm..
Because my mother had delivered all four of her children at about 37-38 weeks we thought I'd go early also.. and because I'm a teeny size 6-8 who seemed to run out of room by 30 weeks!

So we decided to book the shower for AFTER the baby would be born (using that date as a guess) as we'd left planning a little late!

 But anticipated DS Jake hadn't arrived yet so I (very uncomfortably) waddled in and out of family and friends at my baby shower only three days before my due date.

I climbed into bed that night after 10pm.. and my first contraction started a few hours later at 2am... OOOOP! Talk about close call!

with DD I was MEANT to be having it at 37 weeks but bub came before hand so she was at her own baby shower....:p

With lil bubba #2we are having it at about 32 weeks (at the same time as DDs first birthday) I am guessing it will be way easier to organise one event than two especially cos we have family travling over 2 hours to come visit:D (an I will be big an fat an not feeling like doing much:laughing:)

(our family's baby showers tend to be family gatherings/bbq's before a baby is born, males/females and no cutesy baby games or weird stuff like that:p)

I too was like hummingbird at 37 weeks. Just had mine last Sunday gone with only 3 weeks until my due date. Originally i thought it was good timing but as the day came closer, i also felt it was too late as i was just waiting to see what we ended up with before i went and bought everything else needed. I am someone who likes to be in control and be organised and that was one thing i felt far from being.

None the less, i have spent this past week and again a few days in this coming week buying the remaining things we need to be prepared for bubs arrival. I am going to end up putting myself into early labour at this rate with all the walking around shopping centres i have done.
