Hi fellow Mums,
I just bought a Fisher Price Cradle Swing and I can already tell it's going to be the best thing ever for settling my 10 week old and giving me some much needed time to get things done.
It's a battery operated swing that goes forward and backwards OR side to side (it's the only swing on the market that has both options and apparently small babies prefer the side to side.) They retail for $290 but you can get them second hand on ebay for about half that (which is what I did.)
We got it yesterday and put DS in it when he was restless and not going to sleep, which is when I normally have to hold him constantly, but to my joy it put him to sleep straight away and he stayed like that for two hours! The swinging seems to hypnotise him and he was powerless to fight those heavy eyelids!
It also has music and lights and a tray for toys or food (I'll probably use it as a high chair as well when the time comes to save space) so it's great to stimulate them when they're awake too - I put him in it while I was making dinner tonight and he stared at the moving lights without making a peep for an hour! I almost felt guilty because I felt like it was too easy (what's with that weird mother guilt?!)
Anyay, as you can see I think it's great and well worth the money even though it's a bit pricey. As we all know, you can't put a price on your sanity so if it settles a restless baby it's worth every penny!
