Hi all!! We sold our house recently, and the settlement date was today.
I was hoping someone could tell me when you usually get the money in your account? It may be a silly question but we just werent sure!
Cheers, Bec

on settlement the monies go straight into your account! we sold our house not long ago, and purchased another, settlement was on the same day, so the money we got from our sale went on to the purchase of the new house:)

On settlement day they should be handing over cheques made out how you asked for them. eg. Sale price $100 000 = solicitor $5000, real estate $5000, bank xyz $90000. Then the cheques go to the places. They shouldn't get the title without the cheques being handed over first. Whoever did the settlement meeting - usually someone from your solicitors - would have received the cheques. The bank may have had someone at the meeting as well and taken their cheque with them.
I agree, it should appear in your bank account the day of settlement, unless something else has been organised.
In the past the bank, solicitor and real estate agent have phoned us at the conclusion of the settlement, just to let us know everything went ok.
