View Full Version : Cleaning Blah!
I just wanted to post and ask
Are you a helper cleaner OR a solitary cleaner??
I was reading an article in a REALLY old mag I found and it was discussing that their are two types of cleaners in the world.
1. Those who can only clean when they are alone and do a really THOROUGH job, but if they are around other people (ie when Mum or best friend drops in) they do a really QUICK job and spend the following day REDOING it all over again.
2. Those who need someone to talk to and to talk to them whilst they are cleaning. That is in order to get a THOROUGH job done they need to be speaking on the phone (or the net I guess!!! :yelclap: ) or have someone physically in front of them to talk to. Not so much for the other person to do the work but to keep you company.
I am DEFINATELY a partner cleaner, hence I listen to a talk back or normal radio show as opposed to a cd. It's the chatter that keeps me going. cos I'm ashamed to say :o I talk back to the radio !!!!

Im number 1!! i cant clean when anyone is near me and i do do a rush job when someone is coming over but i dont spend the rest of the day cleaning it properly when they leave; i just usually leave it for the next day.
I hate distractions so I would be 1...
I clean alone + if someone's coming over I clean like mad!

I would be number 2... i always clean better when bubhub chat is on or something... but I do get easily distracted...
I am definately a number 1, can't do a good thorough job with someone else there, I would be distracted & decide to just sit & chat instead

yep, go no 1's!!!!
i don't like it when my dp even tries to help coz i have my own way of doing things and i dont feel its been done properly if i dont do it.
i think i may have a compulsive disorder........

Definately number 1, I hate other people cleaning my house - they never do it right ie my way.
defo number one! I dont get a thing done when DH is home, mainly though because I hate having to slave away whilst he just sits and watches tv.
I defo need to be alone when i clean, i dont even attempt if there are people over.
I definately number one but I also like the radio on occasionally just to give me the motivation and dance around a bit while cleaning!

I'm neither, I don't clean often enough to qualify :D
However if I had to categorise myself, I'd say no. 2. I need to be able to chatter away so I don't think about the fact I'm actually cleaning.
Well strangely enoughhe is the ony person I get anoyed at if he DOESN'T help me. Otherwise I always palm off the tiny stuff like fixing the puzzles or packing away the blocks on the visitor at home (normally Mum) or if I'm in Mums house, and I take on the mopping the floor, cleaning the table, washing the dishes, doing the clothes. and I must stress most the time I tell them to sit down and just chat to me while I work ... hehehehe
I would rather clean on my own, only because it will be able to get cleaned, you cant clean too well with 6 kids around you. If there are others around me I tend to get distracted, however, when everyone is out, I like to also have some ME time.
I dont get a thing done when DH is home, mainly though because I hate having to slave away whilst he just sits and watches tv. Same here, but I make him get up and help! Cause its not fair

I'm number one - I just get too easily distracted. Also annoys me that I'm slaving away while DP sits and watches tv after a 'hard day at work'

I clean better when i am by myself. Although i like to have the radio and the tv on most of the day.
I hate when my mum helps me clean at the same time cos she irritates me the way she cleans cos its not how i would do it!!!. I know i should be grateful for the help but it gets on my nerves,
Have to say im number 1

definately number one.....I love the radio...for the songs...can't stand the chatter on it...so i usually pop on a cd.
I also have to do things properly...so it takes me hours to clean!!! my hubby just 'relocates' stuff and dosant put it away in its proper home:banghead:

Don't you hate that! Hubby has the habit of chucking things unsorted in bags:banghead:
My Dp's rule used to be "put it in a bag and if it doesn't come out after 12months we obviously don't need it" ..... until a threw 2 bag loads of his TAFE assignments "in the bin" (the garage) and said "if you don't use it after 12 days you obviously don't need it" and walked off. Needless to say he got his assignments back in time to hand in, but it got my point across but he is a relocator .... so I make him vacuum and wash the floors, and doing the clothes washing, things he can't RELOCATE!!!
Definitely #2  But only if it's Mum! She is the only person who I can stand to have come over when the place is a sty (most of the time :o) and she always asks politely if it will bother me if she attacks the dishes, or the floor, or whatever else looks horrid
But I must say, when it takes at least an hour of each day just to clean up the destructive mess of my pup, I am greatful every time she offers!
DP on the other hand? He can wash dishes, anything else and the job aint done! When we get a washing machine he has offered to be "laundry guy" which will be lovely, but everything else; I spend the whole time advising him on how to "do it right"
Gee, you'd think we'd accept the help they offer!
