Hi All,
I use BBH bamboo fitteds and covers and have been thinking of getting some Magicalls for trips out and daycare etc. I read some reviews lately about them leaking badly. Has anyone had this experience?
How do you find them?

Also, has anyone tried the new OSFA Magicalls?
Would love to hear what you think if you have.
They're a bit more expensive so I'd want to be sure they;re good!

Thanks girls.

hi i have BBH magicalls and i love them. i like the velcro better than the snaps. i've only had a prob with leakage when i needed to go up a size. i've noticed that i need to change MCN's more frequently than disposables.

Q: i've yet to use my BBH bamboo fitteds, do you use any microfleece or anything else as a stay dry liner?

I've never had a leak with my Magic-alls. I love them because they are reasonably cheap for an MCN and really thirsty!

I had leaks in the beginning but that could be because I didn't put the bamboo booster correctly.
Advantages:
- Good workmanship
- Nice looking
Disadvantages:
- Have to turn it inside out to dry otherwise it takes forever... so a bit fiddly when hanging them
- It's a sized nappy so will at the end cost too much for my liking.

advantages - good workhorse nappy, good intro to MCNS

disadvantages - not as pretty as other nappies...feels bulky...not as good resale value..sized

Hi just got my Magicall osfm today. Will wash it and dry it then give it a go and get back to you:)
I've also got a Issy Bear osfm coming on Monday.
These are my first and will be trying it on my 13 month old, then my new baby in November.

oh i can imagine they are tough to get dried in winter....in summer i get them dry after 24 hrs on the line...i'd hate to imagine what its like in the winter eek (i am reluctant to put anything with pul into the dryer)

Hi greenie! Long time no see! How's eve going?

I only have the older type magicalls and I find them great for carer use. Not good for newborns imo because poo doesn't contain well but they are fine for wees. I can only imagine that the new ones with insert are better.

Katieinwa - I think the minky magicalls are quite pretty! (the smooth cover ones I agree are rather blah)

Jaspat - for some reason i find the bamboo BBH is quite thirsty and seems to suck away the wet from baby to go all the way thru the nappy if you know what i mean? But I think if you put liners in them it will be fine.

As a work horse nappy I find the magicalls fantastic! If I need them trimmer I just dont put the insert in...but need to change more often. I have 12 minkies on layby and with such a bulk pack it works out around $20 each...as Im paying $249 including postage!

Thanks people!

Jaspat24 - I use fleece liners in my BBH fitteds and find it great for keeping bubs bot dry and for making poo clean-ups much less stressful! Don't you hate it when it gets into all those ruffles around the legs :(?!
I made my liners by cutting up a $3 fleece baby blanket from the $2 shop.

tamarasmum- Ooh, I'm looking forward to hearing your verdict on the OSFMs! My dd is 14months so it will be great to hear how they go on your 13month old. I'd also be keen to hear how they go for drying time as the BBH site says they're faster drying than the other Magicalls.

Sparrowgal -Hello!
Yes, I have been rather MIA for a while. I had some problems logging on for ages - Bubhub just didn't want to let me in ! So I got out of the habit for a while. Eve's going well although I'm not so happy about her growing up so much :(. Wasn't she a newborn just a couple of months ago? How's tricks for you? I'll pop into our old thread soon to catch up!

Just an afterthought too. If any of you are playgroup members you can get a 10% discount on the BBH site.
The details are on the abcbaby site. I think you just need to enter something off your membership card.
Davina even let me use it on sale items too :smiliedance:

oh 2 down 3 to go, lol.
Drying time is 7 hours on the line on a sunny day in brissy:)
And I was a bit impatient, next time in the dryer:o
Think I might just pop them on her today even if it only lasts half an hour
To be continued..............

Hi Greenie, :flowerz:
You're from the Upper Hunter. That's where I grew up - just out of Muswellbrook and went to school in Aberdeen. :)
My baby is 3 weeks and 3.7kg and does not fit into his Newborn Magicalls. His little legs are too skinny which means they gape and leak. I think the quality is awesome and am possitive that they would work really well if they didn't leak. I have 6 in the small size for when Bub gets bigger. I'm looking forward to buying some minky ones once I determine if the size will fit.
I, like you, am interested in what the OSFM magicalls are like. I'm sure that they won't work for my Bub for a long time though.

I think the OSFM is definately too big for a smaller bub. I'm going to buy smalls for the new bub then the osfm will be for both the medium and large size. So I will only need 2 diff sizes instead of 3.

Ooh ok, 7 hours. Well I think that's pretty good for an AIO really. Looking forward to the next installment re: fit tamarasmum!

Hi kuddles. Yes, I'm from Muswellbrook. Have only lived here a couple of years though. It's alright. Friendly little place. You're doing well cloth-ing your 3week old! I can understand the Magicalls not doing so well on a newborn. I tried all kinds of AIOs and pocket nappies on my newborn and they leaked, leaked, leaked!! So I've ended up using fitteds with covers which made it easier to get a much better fit. They're more adjustable I think and you can usually adjust the covers too. My lo is probably more a medium size now, so I'm hoping the AIOs will be ok.

Ok Tamara is finally wearing her BBH osfm. Its a great fit, comes up quite high at the back compared to the Issy bear osfm. Good poo catchers, lol.
Will let you know very soon how they go........to be continued.......

Greenie - Yeh I go back there quite a bit. My family still live there and my best friends. When I use cloth I've been mostly using bamboo prefolds and my eenie weenies. The prefolds are just so bulky though Jake's butt just ends up high in the air. I've been thinking about trying BBH bamboo fitteds. Does anyone have any thoughts on BBH Bamboo Fitteds on a newborn?

Wow, loved them! I had them on dd for 3 hours no sign of leakage but she did a poo so if it had not been for that would have gone longer. Great fit compared to our Issy's osfm. I find those too tight around the leg already and she is only 9kg and not that chubby.

Do you have other magicalls or just the new osfm? My DD is 9kg and has grown out of her mediums and Im just wondering if I should get the large size or the osfm.......... she is my last bub.

I have no other magicalls so can't compare. In fact I have no large of anything. I've just ordered a large and a medium to compare, both magicalls so I can let you know in a week or so if no one else can help sooner.

Thanks tamarasmum!
That's a pretty good review then! It would save me buying 2 sizes to get the OSFM so seems like a good idea.

kuddles- I used BBH fitteds on my newborn and thought the fit was pretty good. They were a little baggy round the bum but the legs and waist were fine.

kuddles - i find that the BBH fitteds will fit on a NB but you will have big bubblebutt still! I used them on my daughter when she was a NB and they looked huge on her.

Thanks Ladies,
I might pick one up and see how I go. Its just weird seeing him with his legs so high in the air. When he was in the special care nursery they elevated the top of the cot. Maybe I could buy a wedge matress and he can lay even that way... Lol.

I find them really great, they are so absorbent, have even lasted all night on my DS1 a few times when he slept through from his nap. They are the nappy of choice for DS2 over night, he sleeps through the night and we never have a problem, and size large fits both boys well, for DS2 I just do it up tighter;)

things that I don't like, drying time and the inside material doesn't stay completely dry

I'm afraid magicalls arent for me! It took 2 days to dry my new one in the sun! Now that its raining I cant even imagine how long.

I think I am always going to be a pocket lover!
