were your kids when you took them to the movies?
Hayley is 4 and a half and I haven't taken her yet. I'm thinking maybe taking her on the school holidays (depending whats on).
How old were your kids? How did they go? I'm worried she might not sit still for long.
TIA

Hi
My little girl turns four in two weeks, and she cannot sit still long enough in the movies... But at home she can sit still for a whole dvd... go figure! lol
I think it would depend on the child, some kids can sit still but others can't....
Ive taken my 4.5yr old and 2 yr old a few months ago. They were fine, sat there thru the whole movie
cant remember how old the first one was.. about 2 or 3 i guess... she LOVED disney movies..
so my second child was just a little baby
the other 2 after that went as babies with older kids

Somehow I don't think Skye would sit there for very long. Hayley MIGHT but I don't know.
DH and I usually go to the drive in...DS1 cant sit still through one movie though...When he does is when we will have to wait for DS2 to do the same..looks like we wont be going to a proper movie theater for a good 4 more years:laughing:

Do you have Babes In Arms sessions near you? I have been taking DD to these since she was born. She is now nearly 2 and doesn't sit still for more than 10 seconds

It all depends on the child, My parents took my 3 and 4 yr olds at xmas and they were ok but then again they are a bit conditioned to movies.
I would try going on tight *** tuesday so the tickets are cheaper. The baby's in arms is also a good idea.

I took DS in the summer holidays (only place I could think of with aircon lol) and he was just over 2....he was fine.
It was a kids movie, and TBH I don't think anyone would expect kids to sit still through the whole thing- there were other kids up and down and walking round, and though DS stayed near to me he was up and down a lot....
He does love his TV though- so to him it was like a big giant TV- he was mesmerised by it!
I don't think you need to go to a kids movie with the expectation that your kids should sit and be silent through the whole thing- so no reason not to give it a try!!!

DD was almost 3 when we first took her. She was fine and sat through the whole movie. A few weeks ago DH took her to see Monsters vs Aliens and you have to wear those 3D glasses. She loved it.
We took our nephew to see Barnyard when he was 3.5yrs. He loved it, had no probs.

Do you guys remember your first movie??
I was 6 and my mum took me to a double feature of E.T. and Back to the Future. This is pre-video days as well, so it stands out in my mind as a pretty special childhood memory.
I really hope I can find something just as classic and timeless to take DS to for his first cinema experience!

DD would have been about 2.5yrs, she went with her dad (DS & I were a bit off colour at the time :() to see 'Horton Hears a Who!'.
She was excellent, took it all in and was happy to sit through the whole thing.
I'd say it depends on the child though, if we didn't think she was capable of sitting through it, we wouldn't have bothered. :)
ETA:
Katya - I can't remember how old i was but i'm pretty sure my first movie was 'Jurassic Park' and i went with my Grandad and brother. :D

i've taken my 2 yo DD to see heaps of movies.. and she has gone heaps of times with my dad and siblings... probably about 6 times between 6 months and now... she loves it but she is a pretty relaxed kind of kid so even if she moves around a bit she is pretty quiet:D never had any complaints:thumbsup:

Do you guys remember your first movie??
I'm not sure if it was my first movie but we went as a whole family (was the only time my dad went too) to see ET. It's a treasured memory and I remember my dad bawling his eye's out. He passed away when I was a teenager.
With taking the little one's I have tried a few times with my girls. It really does depend on the child. Last time I tried was the last school holidays and my twins are 5yrs. One was ok and would have been much better without her twin mucking around. I was so frustrated that I told her twin the next time she goes to the movies will be when she is old enough to take herself.
