Hi,
Can you buy Greenridge brand Vitex from standard pharmacies? I haven't had my periods for 3 months (no not pregnant) and want them back desperately as we want to try for kids in a few months time. I am not underweight and have a healthy diet. I competed in a Triathlon (amateur) in Feb and believe this to be the cause as I increased the amount of exercise I was doing. I am constantly getting soreness in my left ovary but no periods!

Thanks

Hello Newtoarea,

Very interesting presentation, you may like to get your GP to screen you for hormonal imbalances and eliminate the possible diagnosis of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS).

The best way to take herbs is by getting an experienced practitioner to prescribe them individually for you. Sure you can buy Vitex and many other herbs as single or compounded formulations from health food stores but I don’t recommended self-prescription because in the long term you may be robbing yourself of an amazing result you may get from receiving the assistance of a qualified practitioner.

I do believe however that herbal treatment would be useful for you because they will be able to help you with hormonal balance as well as increased circulation to your reproductive organs.

The other question of course is... “Are you exercising too much?” Even though you are not overweight, too much exercise will often create problems with periods for some women.

I hope this is useful to you. Overall I’d recommend a health assessment with a qualified practitioner.

Best wishes,

Dear Gabriela,
Thank you for your reply. It can be upsetting when your body does not function the way it has in the past. I have been to GP and am awaiting blood test results. I had a scan done (approx 2 years ago) and whilst I have some cysts on my left ovary the doctor did not seem too concerned about them. As for exercise...a good point and one I will need to review. I have cut back a lot and am doing approx 4-5 days a week of exercise....something for me to think about.
Thanks!
