Can anyone recommend me a good speech thearapist NOR for my ds? I have called a few in my area and the wait is over 6 months, im really hoping i dont have to wait that long.

I have been on the waiting list for one in Ballajura for over 3 months and now they are really stuffing around, so im scrapping that one all together.

hi - weve been going to a speech therapist in warwick and she is great. her name is ansuya rajoo 0401 489 653. we got in straight away with her so hopefully she still has openings for you.

amber has progressed leaps and bounds with her she is awesome!

Amanda what are her prices like?? Bug needs to start speech therapy soon as well so Im looking for a therapist that people have actually had personal experience with.

well she is expensive - they all are really unless you can bare waiting on the public wait list. it cost $170 for the initial 1 hour consultation and testing. and we go every week for 30 mins @ $60.

not cheap but it has really been worth it - all the relatives that ring can finally understand amber on the phone and have all remarked at how fast she is learning. we have about 8 more weeks to go and amber should be fine from then on.

the one thing i like about our therapist is that she gives us homework to do and i know others in speech therapy who get given nothing to do during the week so it takes them longer to progress. our homework is usually a game that uses the sounds that she learnt that week etc

Declansmum - i hope you find one you are happy with soon.

Ive been lucky in that Bug is on her fathers private health fund now so im not so worried about the costs, just looking for someone that is known to be good.

Thanks ladies, I really appreciate your feedback. Yes!!! They are all quite expensive but I suppose my child needs the help so thats OK.

BTW-The waiting period if you want to go public is 12 months.

Yeah the public lists are shocking. Thankfully the wait list out my way is only 8 months or thereabouts but 15 months ago the same wait list was 18 months until they took on a second therapist.
